for those who don't wanna use all that extra stuff like nutritional yeast and stuff: I used the mushroom-walnut-mix from this and used it to replace the meat part of german meatballs and to replace the egg part I simply put double the toast part. here, have the recipe: (for 2 people) 5 mid-sized mushrooms 3 handful walnuts 3 tbsp oats 1 clove of garlic 1 tsp mustard whatever spices you want -> put in the mixer until paste 1 onion ->cut small 1 slice of toast -> rip into tiny pieces ->put everything into a bowl and mix with your hands -> form into meatball form -> olive oil into pan, fry very very yummy, have eaten three times last week, couldn't stop
Plantain flowers are meaty too when made into patties... I'm surprised the West hasn't caught up with plantain flower yet. They're a delicacy in South India.

Biggest revelation I had going vegan was that I'm not "giving something up", I am just "giving." It's a gift to myself, the planet, the animals, and beyond, to stop consuming animal products. This truth really resonated with me after listening to an interview with Jo-Anne McArthur. When we look at veganism as "giving up my hamburger" instead of "giving the gift of fewer GHG emissions" or "giving the gift of healthier blood vessels to myself" or "giving the gift of life to an innocent cow somewhere" - then we are focusing on a loss that was constructed through societal conditioning. We have the power to reframe the way we approach our day-to-day food choices and see them in a new light. For anyone transitioning to veganism, try reworking the way you approach each meal, and instead of thinking of each new shift in the way you eat as a loss, remember it's actually a gift.

banana Vegetarians just refrain from eating any form of animal but still eat dairy, eggs and honey. Vegetarians also may used animal products like leather or makeup whereas Vegans typically don’t use any animal products in their day to day life.
I’ve been watching you all morning!!! Yummy food 🥘 I appreciate you mentioning the vegan community and their judgements ! I mentioned knowing I would get backlash. But that’s what most people that are interested in the lifestyle get turned off by. It is the most judgmental community I’ve ever come across. I’ve been finding vegan loving 🥰 peeps I can actually put up with ! Thank you for being one of them , cracking me up along the way.
actually right in this instance haha. unfortunately, impossible burgers are plant-based, technically not vegan. They tested the heme protein they use on animals :/ But you can argue that it was only in the beginning stages and they no longer do that, but there are plenty of producers that use animal testing at all. So it's really down to what you personally feel fits in with your beliefs/morals. You're still doing miles less harm than if you were eating an animal :)
Since going vegan, I’ve found a real joy in reframing how I think about food and experimenting with spices, veggies, and flavors I didn’t even attempt before. Especially indian food!
11:13 Alix = "To get that same meaty experience from the ingredients we used, which was just vegetables and plants-" Mushrooms = Am I a joke to you? For those of who don't get it, mushrooms aren't plants, they are fungi. And fungi are actually more closely related to animals, than they are to plants. Now, I am not saying that fungi are animals, I am saying that they are neither plants nor animals. But they are more like animals than they are like plants. So, if a vegan is someone on a plant-based diet, are mushrooms really vegan? Plant-based doesn't mean only plants, it means mostly plants. So yes. Mushrooms are vegan!
Alix is too Cute !!! She’s so grateful for everything. I love that! ❤ I agree too , I too changed my diet for a couple months and I feel so much better .
When You talked about the toxic online community (like veganism being a black and white thing and making a mistake means cheating immediately) that really hit home. I'm veggan (as I call it), I eat eggs (only free range, and I always buy it from local farms), and I got a lot of sh*t for it beforehand from my vegan friends. So that made me feel a lot better, thank You. ^^ (Also, sry for my grammar, I'm not a native speaker.)
You two are super fun to watch! Yes to mushrooms! Very excited to try this because I haven't found a vegan burger I like yet...or one that holds together. Thank you!🌷🌼😊

Shoutout to Rachel, she’s an amazing producer ❣️
Yes....And an unsung hero in making possible the MERLIA ship to sail.
Hey❗ after watching videos about vegan food i have decided to become vegan too .so thanks as you have inspired me a lot to switch to more health path
thats amazing!
U can also just start as a vegetarian it’s easier than becoming fully vegan
Or not
Nacho yes! I was vegetarian 3.5 before being vegan for over 2 years now
Just wanted to ask, what is the difference between the 2?
banana vegetarians can eat eggs and dairy
banana
Vegetarians just refrain from eating any form of animal but still eat dairy, eggs and honey. Vegetarians also may used animal products like leather or makeup whereas Vegans typically don’t use any animal products in their day to day life.
I’ve been watching you all morning!!! Yummy food 🥘
I appreciate you mentioning the vegan community and their judgements !
I just love this channel. I mean the science in the recipes are out of the world.
"... used to be a Tasty Producer."
Me:..... WHAT?!
She left mid-last year I think.
@@scarthrux7344 ...but, why? 😢
@@whimsyandme I wanna know too
she launched her official channel after the spiritual awakening.
9:53 They're talking about Erin
tHaTS NOT veGaN
Sooo jealous of people in LA! Monty's good burger looks amazing. If I want to eat mediocre vegan take out I have to drive for 30 minutes 😭
Lol it’s LA it takes 30 minutes to drive 5 miles.
Lol exactly what I came here to say, la traffic is always crazy
@@ms-iz9iy Haha, good point. Atleast the food is good!
@@ms-iz9iy yesterday it took me an hour and 10 minutes to drive 8 miles (SM to WeHo at 5pm)
now imagine living in the uk😭we've only got a vegan chicken burger at kfc and a vegan whopper at burger king, nothing like this burger at Monty's!!
9:01 "right into your paw" idk why but I loved that 😂🐾
Montes was fire when I visited Cali! I vouch for them!
Erin: that isn’t vegan!
😂
😂
omg exactly what i was thinking
Impossible burgers, you're right - aren't vegan but 'plant-based'
actually right in this instance haha. unfortunately, impossible burgers are plant-based, technically not vegan.
When she shouts it's kind of like Jojo Siwa
I'm so proud of Alix!!! I watched BuzzFeed for so long hearing her say how much she loved meat and could never go vegan and here she is.
There are recent videos of her making meat and dairy, so she must not have been vegan for very long
I am a 11 year old and this is like one of my dream dish. NAILED IT !! 😍
LOVE this video!!!! I should try one like this on my channel soon 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I tried a impossible breakfast burrito from Hardee’s and it’s actually impressive and it’s pretty good
Thanks, I was wondering about that burrito.
I low key wanna go vegan (or vegetarian) and I don’t know why, I’m a chef so I’m pretty sure it’s because I want to challenge myself with cooking
Since going vegan, I’ve found a real joy in reframing how I think about food and experimenting with spices, veggies, and flavors I didn’t even attempt before. Especially indian food!
Three cheers for Sweet cheese whizz do it. For me it was fun to experiment in the kitchen and play Heston
teesha123 I’ve been vegetarian since I think February 18th so that’s cool I guess
@@threecheersforsweetcheesew3231 well done! Fun?
I’m loving trying new recipes and challenges. I had no idea this would be so fun and just keeps getting more interesting the more I learn

Alix = "To get that same meaty experience from the ingredients we used, which was just vegetables and plants-"
Mushrooms = Am I a joke to you?
I JUST CAME FROM THE MERLE AND ARIA RELATIONSHIP VIDEO

I've been craving a vegetarian/vegan scotch egg
I am not vegan but I love my meatless Monday. I'd totally eat this burger.
This is so much work to be as practical most of the time, but making an enormous batch and then freezing them would be the great!
Love it. You guys are the best.
Alix: Don’t give me no black bean patty!
Yes!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 i absolutely hate black bean patties! So dry! 🤮
Agreed, they're so bad.
Try minimalist baker black bean burger! So good! It has tempah (I think that's how you spell it, lol)

You two are super fun to watch! Yes to mushrooms! Very excited to try this because I haven't found a vegan burger I like yet...or one that holds together. Thank you!🌷🌼😊
I’m really glad that Merle is creating these videos. I’m trying to eat less meat and be more mindful of the things I’m eating so I’m trying to be more plant based and her content is very user friendly.
Also her and aria’s love story is just 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰 how adorable?! Never break up!
8:23 "shoot, guess I won't be making this *sad allergy noise*
Merle's and aria's love story was such a sweet video, I came running from it😅

I’m not even a vegan but love these videos!!!
I am transitioning into eating better. Not sure if I could ever be 100% Vegan or 100% Vegetarian. However I do love your videos and this is yet another recipe I WILL be trying. I'm not big on red meat but I hate chewing on mushrooms so I love how you made the mushrooms into a paste! Keep the recipes coming!
