I Tried Making Vegan Brownies Out Of Avocado

Vegan Avocado Brownies
Servings: 6-8
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 35-37 minutes
Total time: 55-57 minutes
INGREDIENTS
Nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
2 ripe avocados, pitted (about 1 cup of flesh)
¾ cup maple syrup
6 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup vegan chocolate chips, divided
Special Equipment
High-powered blender
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with nonstick spray.
In a high-powered blender, combine the avocados, maple syrup, sugar, and vanilla extract. Blend on high speed until smooth.
Transfer the avocado mixture to a large bowl. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Using a rubber spatula, mix the dry ingredients into the avocado mixture until smooth and no dry spots remain. Fold in about ¾ cup of the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and top with the remaining ¼ cup chocolate chips.
Bake the brownies for 20-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 15-20 minutes before cutting into individual brownies.

I am not a baker and I once made them a long time ago, and they tasted nice, so definitely try it.
I've made a vegan key lime pie before with avocado, it's pretty easy and I recommend you try it. Literally all you need is a blender

@@sarahdee374 I feel you! I had to do the same when I went home to see my family. Those were the longest 2 weeks ever. One thing that helped was finding new things to try and make and in case you ruin it, you’re the only one who will suffer 😅 Also had meals over video call with my family which helped a little.

Fun fact- in the past, women did actually use vanilla extract on their wrists and neck as a natural perfume.

Honestly I didn't know this until I tried to find avocado on the scale in Spain. You have to weight and tag the fruits/vegetables on your own and give to the cashier. I was so frustrated that I couldn't find avocado under the vegetables section.
So if you have avocado's and tomatoes in a salad then you can also call it a fruit salad 🤣🥗

I didn’t have cocoa powder so I made these with melted dark chocolate (vegan- and didn’t add in the extra sugar and cut down on maple syrup a bit) and they are hands down the best brownies I’ve ever had! Super moist and gooey in the middle. I have never been able to perfect brownies before, they always come out too cakey but these are perfect! And super easy to make.
I’ve been finding that vegan baking makes super fudgy things since it doesn’t have eggs. Vegan banana bread is also my fav cause it just takes like blondies. I’m not vegan but have become more conscious about what I eat, so it’s been really fun to explore vegan baking and substitutes, especially when you don’t have some ingredients at home. Thanks for this recipe, this is going into my recipe book as a standard one!

Lana Chu seeing as refined sugar is vegan, avocado is pure fat the brownie would be a brownie with a hint of earthy veggie notes a hint so small its actually an insult to call it a hint of earthy veggie notes.
Lol We’ve done a lot to naturally occurring food. Bastardised it really. Like popcorn!🍿But these brownies are one of the better things😌

It's crazy the kinds of things you can use to substitute eggs in baking. I know people who use bananas. Sometimes I'll use flaxseed+water if I forgot to buy eggs. I don't know the science behind it, but if it works it works 🤷🏻♀️
@@felixvelariusbos bananas, applesauce, soy flour, flax, it all works equally to replace eggs. :)
If you heat avocados they can turn so bitter you'll have to through it all away.
I usually make brownies using sweet potato and oat flour. It's gluten free and impossible to get wrong 😋
1 and 1/2 cups of baked mash potatos
1/2Cup of almond flour or oat flour
1/2Cup of oil (it's perfect with coconut oil, but it can be any of your preference)
1/2 cup of 100% chocolate/cacao powder
1/4Cup of any sugar or syrup you like
1 egg or 1tbs of flaxseed in 3 tbs of water rested for 30 minutes
1tsp Of baking soda, pinch of salt
1tbs vanilla and pecans optional
Blend everything but the pecans and baking soda. Add them and mix. Bake in an oven preheated at 170C for about 40 minutes (it should be moist)

Also is cocoa powder the same thing as cacao powder? I used cocoa, but wonder also have cacao and am wondering if I could use that
@@chrisbrownlov1 I dont know for sure, but I think I meant cacao (which is the fruit used to make chocolate. In Brazil I've never seen cocoa tbh). What makes the biggest difference is the quality of the powder, actually. I've made perfect ones with good chocolate and one that I didnt like because I bought generic alcalin cocoa powder from a whole foods store... if you mix it in milk and it's tasty and chocolaty to drink, than I guess it's a good one 😉

I make quick vegan brownies with bananas, cocao powder and peanut butter 😋 It takes like 10 mins
Just made these and holyshitballsyessss they are amazing. I did only use 1/2 cup syrup, 3 tablespoons sugar and half cup chips- still sweet and incredible.
