Both batteries are used together in series not parallel as mentioned at 17:49, it was a misspeak when I said that and meant to say in series but I don't know about you guys but I'm not perfect so I may slip up when I speak from time to time.
Is good to hear some one doing a construction tool review, with an extensive vocabulary. Congratulations 👍👍
Bro! So good!!! Best review so far! I am a framer and now sold on this product thank you!
Best review of this saw on u tube, seen 10 plus, thank you, I will be buying this saw.
I just started with the Flexvolt system, really glad I did with all this good gear coming out.
Superb review . The best I have seen . Well done .
Nice in depth video. I just recently purchased this. I don't normally watch a video as long as yours.
thanks man, yeah this was a long one but I did show you guys some of the other cool flexvolt tools at the beginning of the vid
Love your community on dewalts tools thanks 👍🇬🇧
14:04 DUDE! Thank you lol. I just got this saw and was trying to figure out why the blade was coming into contact with something... I went through like 10 "setup" vids from other people and none of them mentioned this except for you. Anyway, thanks!
Do you need to knock it out with pliers or something, or just let the blade run through it?
Is it mentioned at all in the instruction manual?
Thanks man. It was your review that I watched that convinced me to buy this saw.
awesome, glad it helped out
best review ever!!1 you are very passionate and so nice, thanks so much
Absolutely great review - solid work, this looks like it took a full working day to create from start to finish.
Thanks, actually took about a week to complete
WOW! A good solid piece of work here. Thank you.
You give the most thorough reviews on the internet
I hope that's a good thing
Tool Craze absolutely
Thanks for the great review. I got my saw last week and love it. One small tip to add; there is an O-ring on the cord of the AC/DC power adapter and a U-hook at the end of the saw rail. Slip the O-ring into it and the cord stays nicely tucked behind the saw, of course if using the power adapter.
Thanks for the tip
very great review! super in depth, thank you very much for making this
Thanks Nalu
Awesome review man, I think this is the first time I actually sat down and watched a 30 minute tool review. It was worth it, answered a few questions I had about it.
It would be awesome if they came out with an AC adapter for the 60 volt tools. That would be a game changer. Not that Flexvolt isn't already.
We might be cutting the cord for the trades in our lifetime for real - other than charging the batteries. The Makita cordless lineup is huge. I switched from DeWalt to Makita for cordless a few years ago because they had some cordless tools I needed that DeWalt didn't have available. Namely, a cordless 23ga pin nailer and cordless random orbit. If DeWalt makes one I'll go back. I wouldn't be surprised if DeWalt comes out with a 60 volt band saw, 15ga finish gun, and framing gun soon, a cordless framer that sets nails like a pneumatic would be great. Looks like I might be going with two cordless brands on my truck soon.
Thanks bro, when you really get into, those 30 something minutes fly by.
That's the thing about all cordless brands, none of them are perfect. You have to pick the tools you need from several brands to have a custom collection that suites you best. Good news is that Dewalt already has a framing nailer on 20V
Yes that truly is the thing. I thought I was settled on Makita until DeWalt came out with all this Flexvolt insanity. I don't truly need any of it for what I do - finish cabinetry - I have the Makita 18v 23ga pin nailer and 18ga brad gun, impacts, drills, saws, biscuit joiner, random orbit sander, etc., to where all I have corded is miter saw and table saw and router the once in a while I need it (ohhh yeah 60v router....?) - but man I sure do want it. Once in a while I have to run 200 feet of cord for them which burns out the motors, so that can be my excuse.
I've seen reviews on the 20v DeWalt framer that shows it doesn't sink nails so well all the time, I don't think I'd want to deal with that frustration. I do decks a lot on weekends and I just roll out the trusty pneumatics. But if they came out with a 60v version I'd probably go for it. It's so hard not to jump on the miter saw already even though I just bought a new one a little over a year ago. And if I got the miter saw I'd have to get the table saw... Ah the luxuries for lazy carpenters.
Good news is that there are cordless routers by Ryobi and Ridgid. Only thing is that they're trim routers which isn't a bad thing really
Great in depth review dude, thanks!
Thanks for watching
Thank you for another great video!
Really good review. Thank you.
Incredible video. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks Allan! I have another video that will be up Tuesday
Very good review. Keep it up👍
Another great review. Informative and entertaining.
thanks for watching!
Dog taking a dump in the background. Love it ! :)
lol
I love both corded and cordless tools but my favorite is driver/drill impact and screwguns
Ruben Rivera
Excellent review, thanks. Hope they bring out a 60V cordless/corded vacuum.
thanks and technically they do check it out on the website toolcraze.net/dewalt-flexvolt-wet-dry-vacuum-dcv584l/
Great review, have the saw and love it.
Thanks Douglas, same here with mine.
Good review,
Amazing review, thanks for that excellent video you cover all my questions Im returning my 780 and get this one.
Thanks bro! And glad my video helped you out. You can purchase the Dewalt Flexvolt saw here amzn.to/2dzGevh
Javier I got my today, they accept my dws780 back is awesome, love it and thanks again for this amazing video.
great review I would love to buy it need to save up
This is a top review. I can tell you love this saw ;)
Thanks very, of course I love this saw. Before this came out I was thinking about a 12 inch slider. How do you think I felt when I heard they were coming out with a cordless version?
I'm guessing it made you just as horny as it made me ; )
lol
+Tool Craze 👍
very well done and informative review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
good video. thanks.
nice review..!!!
Price is a show stopper for me. Nice review though, always watch yur stuff. Appreciate your time, as always.
Thanks Ian. Yeah the price is up there that's for sure. But if you break it down in terms of what's include with these kits, it's about the same as the corded model dws780 plus the extras such the batteries, the charger, and the ac adapter. I got the $800 kit but luckily I got it when they were running a 10% off deal to help make it more "affordable" lol
good job man, another good vid
Thanks Jody! Glad you liked it. I also reviewed the new Milwaukee M18 fuel miter saw as well if you want to check it out
Just found your channel while looking for info on the dewalt flex tools. This was a VERY detailed and informative review. Very well done! Now im going to look and see if you have one for the dewalt flex tool circ saw too...LOL
thanks bro and also for the sub! I don't have a review on the flexvolt circular saw though.
great saw great video,thanks
thanks bro!
Thank for your in depth review, very informative , wanting to purchase this or the Milwaukee saw, please review it when possible...thanks
thanks bro, I will have the review on that model out soon
very nice video, and saw as well. BUT how do you compare to the new makita 36v miter saw? if you have time please let me know? thanks!!
Nice review, I may get one. I would like you to review the new Dewalt Flex circular saw.
Thanks bro. If I can get my hands on one I'll get a video on it
As always, an excellent review. I never feel like I'm getting a sales pitch from you, just a truthful presentation based on experience and knowledge. Nothing beats real-world experience and you've obviously worked with most, if not all, of the tools you've reviewed.
I did catch, however, the only incorrect statement I've ever heard you make. These batteries would be working in series with each other for the voltage to be added. Batteries in parallel, the amperage or amp-hour rating would be added. Example:
(2) 12 Volt / 2 Amp-Hour batteries connected in series will yield 24 Volts @ 2 Amp-Hours.
(2) 12 Volt / 2 Amp-Hour batteries connected in parallel will yield 12 Volts @ 4 Amp-Hours.
Yes, a little OCD, but I wanted to point that out.
You seem to be the type of person who will take that as it is intended, constructive rather than critical.
You do a great job with your reviews, keep up the good work!
Thanks bro,
I had to rewatch the video to see what you were talking about and yes you're right. I meant to say series instead parallel.
I wish I could fix the video but once it's up there's no editing to fix it
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it... ha-ha.
On a side note, I purchased the Fein Multimaster w/Starlock based on your detailed comparison to the previous mounting system... I am very satisfied and I thank you for helping me decide.
Cool, good to see one of my videos influenced your decisions. I really dig the new starlock mount.
I had my miter saw for several years and never used the material clamp down when I wanted to use it I could not figure out how to clamp it down. Can you explain Thanks.
te falto mencionar el cargador de cuatro baterias que a la vez puedes usarlo como generador, ese esta padrisimo buenos videos y muu bien explicados
Gracias y tambien por el mencion del generador. Se me olvido ese modelo
Bro get dewalt up to date an get us a cordless router!!!
Great video!!
Nice review, helped me to decide on getting the DHS790AT2 and I'm loving it! I notice in your review video you are using a miter saw stand with out rigger rollers. Could you please tell me what brand/model of stand you are using? Thanks.
Ridgid miter saw stand
Forgot to mention you can use any brand stand in case your wondering
is the 60v as easy to carry as 20v. whih would u pick
This tool is 120v
it will be nice to see the run time when the 9ah batteries are out
it will, and because it's 33% larger capacity, you should expect about 33% more runtime
Did this come with 2 blades total? Product description on amazon says only one and my order from HD only came with one. Thanks
mine came with the two blades shown in the video, I bought it from acme here shrsl.com/?ferw
great review. i just bought this kit at home depot on sale for $699. plus they have an offer of buy a dewalt 60v tool and get a free 60v battery at a $150 value. so im very happy. but i opend it up and found one of the slider rails is scratched through its finish and rusted. curious if i should be concerned about it and take it back? also the red caps on the batteries are really hard to get off.
thanks, yeah I'd take it back if the side rails were busted out of the box. Just get an exchange, its a very good saw
thanks. appreciate the reply. i just watched the milwaukee miter review. i went with the dewalt 60v as i have the dewalt platform already. i also just bought the rigid cordless miter saw kit and it is amazing. i don't have that battery platform but it makes 289 2x4 cuts on a single charge so it can handle more than a days work without recharging. just subscribed to your channel. cant believe i hadn't come across it sooner.
No problem and thanks for the sub. I'm sure either the Flexvolt and the M18 fuel miter saw can both do over 300 cuts on 2x4's because of how many cuts they were able to do on 2x10 with their batteries.
i forgot to say the rigids is only a 7 1/4 and weighs about 25lbs. so its great to haul around when you only need small cuts framing or trim. look forward to watching more of your vids.
Nice, I have the dewalt 20V miter saw and even though it's lighter than a corded model, it aint 25 lbs so good to hear the ridgid is that light. Thats definitely a good selling point. Thanks bro!
Could you please tell me roughly how heavy is the AC adapter, having a few issues getting the bare saw shipped over seas (Saw is 25KG, But its 32KG Shipped) & max is 30KG for air shipping. cheers dude, Great video
I have no clue. It's not heavy at all. They sell the adapter by itself, Google it and you might find your weight info. Sorry I couldn't be of much help
Que bueno que estés de vuelta... Saludos desde México... Yo soy el que compro el kit wireless de bosch en amazon en oferta...
Luis Soria? Que tal amigo! Saludos man.
Somethng to drool over. High hopes for the future of cordless... If only their electronic engineers could make their next model accept the ac adapter and two batteries at the same time, keeping them charged!
That'd be a great idea
nice video!!!, what do you think about there dewalt circular saw 60v 2amps? / compare to the milwaukee circular saw 18v 9amps battery??? thanks!
Thanks! I think the new Dewalt flexvolt circular saw sounds great, haven't tried it out though. The only Flexvolt tool I've tried out is the miter saw in this video. Can't compare it to the Milwaukee M18 without first trying out the Flexvolt model. Although I would expect more performance from the Flexvolt because it's running on 54 volts. Even the Makita X2 edges out the M18 Fuel circular saw because it's running 36V.
One thing I do want to point out from your comment is that these batteries are rated in (AH) which means amp hours NOT amps. Battery amp hours are a measurement of runtime not power output. Many people get confused with this. So it's not a 60v 2amps or 18V 9amps battery, they are 60V 2 amp hour batteries and 18V 9 amp hour batteries.
Can you please do a tool fight between this saw and the new Milwaukee fuel cordless mitre saw
Gotta get the review out first
What type of stand do you suggest? My DHS790at2 only came with ONE Blade? Is that correct or did you just get lucky with the Extra Blade? A Frozen Pizza would have been okay too.
Personally I like gravity rise stands like this Bosch amzn.to/3f8prKO it's $332 which makes it a bit pricey or get the same one I have which is the Ridgid homedepot.sjv.io/90md3 and is more affordable but not as nice as the Bosch but still good. I have my Dewalt miter saw mounted on it at all times.
@@ToolCraze Thank you, yes they look like very good stands. I ended up going with the Toughbuilt because I will be moving it a lot and needed something I can get between some doors that are 31" exactly. Also I like the extension and bought the extra Roll Extension for Longer Lumber.
I had noticed the same thing regarding the black plastic hitting my blade below the Kerf plate. I almost took it back bc I didnt think that was normal.
Good thing you didn't take it back
+Tool Craze definitely.
nice ese I seen the dewalt commercial be 4 I saw yours
cool, what you think of the new dewalt flexvolt miter saw?
ice it has guebos 4 a saw
man it is nice
Does the saw have a depth stop for cutting rabbits or half laps?
Thomas Lloyd yes it does!
i have a flex volt can i remove the light and put a lazer in its place? DHS 790AT2
Even if you could, why would you want to? The LED shadow light system is far superior to lasers in every way.
How many cuts with the batteries charged? I maybe missed it in your video. Thanks.
I don't remember. I did discuss how many cuts it could do in the video so you'll have to watch it because it's been a while since I made the video.
Frozen pizza 😂😂😂. Great video.
So does the ac adapter run other battery tools? That would be interesting!
No way to find out since there aren't any other flexvolt 120v dual battery tools (except for the other non sliding 12" miter saw)
@@ToolCraze I'm saying attach a regular 20V tool to one side of the adapter. May be a bit bulky but will it work? Or are the connections totally different?
@@ToolCraze are you gonna test it?
I'll give it a try eventually but not with a 20v tool. Remember a flexvolt tool only works with a 60v battery and the AC adapter is emulating two 60v max (56v) batteries. I can bet money it simply won't work on a 20v tool and possibly might damage it. What I can do is try with another single battery flexvolt tool but unfortunately I don't have any at the moment. I'll give it a try if I ever do. Still don't think it'll work as the AC adapter and miter saws have an extra pin connection that is probably there to confirm the special communication between the two.
Expect the test to come on the website at www.toolcraze.net
Can you do a review on your dog?
Saludos
Saludos Martin
If any of you buy a dewalt mitersaw, push the battery release button to remove the plastic cover on the top of them.
Can I use this adapter for one battery miter saw
Adapter is for 2 battery tools
Ridgid es buena erramienta?
Check out my reviews on them and find out
por cierto la mia no traia la hoja de regalo creo que me transaron
Y dot thay give a cord option thay we can use on all the 60v stuff not just the 120v stuff
This may sound odd, but I was really hoping Dewalt would come out with something similar to the Ryobi cordless miter. When those Ryobi's started showing up on jobs, the owners took a fair bit of harassment...but over time, most people realized just how handy such a small, lightweight miter could be. I'm on my 2nd one, they don't last well, but when casing 2 doors on a 5th floor with parking far away? heck yeah...
They have something better than the cordless Ryobi, the dewalt 20v miter saw. I have a review on it if you want to check it out
I'll check it out...looked heavy in Home Depot, but was bolted to shelf so didn't get to pick it up, but I'll keep an open mind...thanks
I'm sure the ryobi will be lighter but the Dewalt is solid like all dewalt miter saws. It's a slider yet is still compact and lighter than the dewalt full size monsters
BradKW
I'm in the same situation often. I bought the new rigid 7 1/4" dual bevel sliding battery saw. It's awsome. I framed for 2 days on one charge so 1 battery is all you need. cuts 2 3/4" trim standing against fence and 2x8 flat. I'm buying this 60v dewalt for bigger capacity which is what it's for.
I put a Diablo 100 tooth on mine
Thanks for the nice and thorough review.
Your plywood moves to the right at the outer edge when you start cutting @ 21:08 As long as it does that it doesn't matter how accurate the LED light shadow is, or how square to the fence the blade is. ;-)
@ 22:47 Always wear hearing protection when using a mitre saw! Especially when cutting several pieces.
How Noisy is a Miter Saw: www.smarthomekeeping.com/how-noisy-is-a-miter-saw/
Noise Levels for Common Tools [see page 3]: www.progressiveag.org/uploads/documents/noise_graphs.pdf
As you can see the noise level of a mitre saw is up to 103 dB and just 7.5 minutes at this noise level is enough to permanently damage your hearing [see page 2].
Thanks, the plywood moves because I didn't use the material clamp. It was an unsupported plunge cut but I'm sure you already knew that :-)
You should do a video on safety handling and use of power tools
Have you had any issues with the saw since you bought it?
no issues with the saw itself so far but one of the batteries that came with it would no longer charge after some years so I had to send it in for warranty. I wrote about my experience with Dewalt warranty and you can check out my experience here on the Tool Craze website toolcraze.net/dewalt-warranty-service-experience-and-honest-review/
@@ToolCraze the motor on mine burnt after a year i just sent it in for warranty and i was told i was from using it with the ac adapter but i dont see how its possible. The saw is designed to be used with batteries or the ac adapter. Do you use yours with the ac adapter or just batteries?
good review but i wish u cud have showed how the bevel works.
Thanks but bevel is not unique to this miter saw, so no need to show how that works as all miter saws can bevel. If I went through every single feature of this saw it would be pointless, and a LOOOOOOOOONG video! This video was already long enough, no need to make it any longer. Not to mention boring with plenty of stuff most people would already know anyway, that's why it would be pointless. It sounds like what you need to know would be from a how to operate a miter saw instruction video or manual, usually that stuff is covered in the included manual in case someone is new to a miter saw.
Where did you get your Shirt? Can you send me a link? its cool
walmart if I remember correctly, good luck on them still having them as that was a good while back
Does anyone know if this saw has a depth stop?
It does, it has an adjustable depth stop
Thanks definitely going to be my next miter saw, I thought it did but you had me worried your reviews are always so high quality and through I thought if you didn't mention it didn't have one. But thanks for the reply and for the good reviews.
Cool, I can't list every possible feature because one the video would be too long and I'd be here all day, this video was extremely long as it is and also it would get boring. You know what I mean?
I even had to cut some stuff out to prevent the video from dragging on lol, all minor stuff like showing off how to change the Bevel angle.
I make sure to cover all the major points.
Thanks bro
that mitre saw that will not come out in america is out in austraila
also there comming out with an aligator saw
Frozen pizza lol
It's not delivery, it's the dewalt frozen 12" personal pizza!
there´s a video in a channel called AVE and he tried corded 120V tools with 120V batteries and they work without modifying anything...
11:59
Hi guy. Please check out a video I made on my channel on this Dewalt mitersaw. I cover many topics like how to change the blade and more. Just read the description to find what time each top starts.
Thanks
you dont get 20 volts. 20 volts is with no load. thats peak voltage. under a load when you are using is 18 volts.
I explained that very clearly at the intro. 20v is peak charge, when you use the tool the voltage drops back down to 18v - it's all there explained in the intro.
Same goes with 60v is 54v nominal and 120v is 108v nominal
i know. in europe the call it 18 volts. in the US the say 20 volts.marketing thats all. Milwaukee is 18 volts under load but 20 volts no load.
you said in your in your video you really get the 20 volts or 60 volts which is not true. peak to peak voltage. not under load.
Yes I did say you do get 20v 60v but you forgot to mention that I also said that it's only when fully charged. I also said when you use the tool the voltage drops back down to 18v 54v. It's all there in the intro.
You are correct in saying it's all marketing and it works. I've seen people think they're getting more because of the 20v marketing but it's really 18v and that marketing hype doesn't work over in Europe, that's why 18v tools are called 18v instead of 20v and 12v tools are called 10.8v in Europe.
view the whole video
WTF?!!!!!!!!!! parallel connection to double the voltage? THAT'S BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! parallel connection doubles the capacity, but SERIES connection doubles the voltage!
Relax bro it was a mispeak
Tool Craze OK sorry I have to apologize I was a bit too agressive, I am sorry
Filip Bitzan don't worry about it.
Someone else brought that up also and I was surprised I said that wrong until I replayed it
Your explanation of the amp hour and volt difference was excruciatingly bad. Just never discuss those terms again in your life for the sake of everyone's intelligence. Try actually learning about electricity in the first place.
also there comming out with an aligator saw
I seen that, its very interesting. I saw the video and was amazed at how fast it cuts concrete
There's also a couple of other flexvolt I forgot to mention in this video. A Bluetooth light and a flexvolt Bluetooth radio. Those are also posted on the Tool Craze website to check out
thank u will have a look
saw the saw today at bunnings it is a strange saw
