I switched from Dewalt to Milwaukee, I've broken and shut down too many Dewalt Drills. I have never shut down my Milwaukee M18 Drill.
If Hilti had a better tool selection I would own Hilti over any cordless drill on the market. By far the most powerful 18 volt drill I've ever used. But the reality is this is my opinion, others may disagree. 😉

Love anything cordless. Makes for a much safer work site. Most new builds usually only have one plug up and running where many other trades are plugged in tripping the breaker. I have the Milwaukee 10” for 4 years now and love it for my interior railing work. Glad to see Milwaukee out with the 12” saw. I’d definitely would choose it over the Dewalt because Milwaukee uses only one battery so less grief to charge. I also like Milwaukee’s footprint being a bit smaller. Love the LED light!

My brother is all Milwaukee and I’m all Dewalt and we compare all the time. I like the dual power feed for when I’m constantly stationary. But I do like the deeper cuts the Milwaukee gives. They are both great saws and we love them both.

There's a vid on UA-cam of Milwaukee vs Dewalt drills. Dewalt literally sets on fire when directly connected to Milwaukee, while the Milwaukee stays cool. Dewalt is not really comparable to Milwaukee IMO! More along the lines of Bosch and Makita. In the video he was nice to the Dewalt but clearly Milwaukee was the winner.

Dust collection on the Milwaukee looks great. Removing the fence for the bevel is no deal breaker in my mind.
I like the Milwaukee tool line up and the truth is if I wasn’t so invested in dewalt the red would be my choice. The line of tools they have is great.
But let’s see how dewalt respond to them. We wait and see. If I had to buy one and didn’t have the dewalt platform I’m on🤔
I think I would go Milwaukee. But since I have never had one fail from anything dewalt I’ll stick right there. I mean I still got batteries from 2013 going strong 💪

I would have to agree, Milwaukee had won that. I own the flexvolt slider, however, if I was on red and black platform I would absolutely buy that saw. Dust collection awesome, just don’t like some placements on the Milwaukee as you pointed out. And the bevel numbers, they seem dull in the back. The yellow stands out better for my vision at least.

First off great video dude! For me I'd go with the Milwaukee, I'm very heavily invested in the Milwaukee M18 line of tools, like 20 M18 tools and 11 M18 batteries and invested in their line and with 3 - 12amp batteries i don't think not being able to plug it in will be an issue. However I'll stick with my 10" Milwaukee M18 FUEL dual bevel sliding miter saw. They are both great saws, stick with the brand your invested in.

here in UK that dual power actualy have one more benefit ....if you work on private jobs its more convenient to use 240 v adapter (you dont havve to drag transformer) but if you go to work in regulated sites you need certifiet 110v saw(again dewalt have adaptyer) that saw do both plus have option to work with batteries
one more thing can you compare cut in super wet timber (like full cut 4 x6 orr bigger, pushing to max)
also i wonder about dewalt with 2 x 12amp batteries as they much better cells ,6amp were bit weak in my opinion i have 4 of them but with any my saws always grab 9 amp or 12

  • @dimmestshelf6362
    @dimmestshelf6362 4 роки тому +4

I would have to say the Milwaukee is the one more for me because the shadow line you could tell was way better even though you were out side making the perfect first cut saves so much time, but also the fact that the Milwaukee only takes one battery and can take any m18 battery is whats most important to me. still wish and hope that they would make a corded change out for the battery would be nice like the Dewalt.

  • @tensazero

Taking into consideration that the Flexy came out first and is an older design. I'd say the winner is the platform you are in. However, the saw is in dire need of updating. They also need to make more 120V tools like a 10" table saw. A 120V mid-size bandsaw, or drill press maybe? PPL need more reasons for 120V. It's kinda like the X12. Ppl like the line, but need more reasons compared to the normalized 20V line.
A 60V full size 1/2" router. A lighter BL version of the 7-1/4" miter is also needed. 20V BL update to the plate joiner. 20V 23G pin nailer.

Thanks Clint @Tool Review Zone! Just because of you, I'll be picking up a new Milwaukee fuel, 12 inch, double bevel, compound sliding, miter saw to join our fleet of Sexy Flexy's. This will be the "owners saw" for now. Like button smeeshed!
And to be honest, the ability on the flexvolts to "plug in" to ac power is nice and all, but we never do. I've cut with the ac adapter maybe 2 or 3 times. I prefer the speed and power of the 9ah or 12ah batteries (3ah/4ah actually) vs ac power on those saws.
The 6ah (2ah) batteries..... Meh. Not so much. Besides, I packed my fleet with cordless tools for a reason. And it has certainly been a game changing experience. We have a plethora of 8ah HO and 12ah HO m18 batteries though, and the single battery producing that kind of power will be awesome! Milwaukee never fails to impress me. So thanks for the tool duel. Dewalt Duel power is a must. I don’t want a saw to glide to smooth a little resistance is good. In case you slipped or you were bumped from behind when you’re working. Dewalt is using a thinner blade so there will be less sawdust Milwaukee was using a thicker blade twice as thick so it will be more sawdust in a sawdust bag. DeWalt is a lot older saw and it can still Compete with Milwaukee’s brand new spanking saw so just imagine if the Dewalt just came out with the saw it will be 10 times better than the Milwaukee. And remember the Dewalt is dual power and that’s what gets the win.

Very important if you would like to saw with precision.
Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade.
Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade, it is much better this way the blade will not tilt.
Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing .
And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft.
It is very important that everything is aligned.
Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade.
    Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / / HITACHI C12RSH2 / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact .
(This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails).
If you want you can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood. To this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw.
Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blad is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine.
Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut.If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blad.

    Hi TRZ,
After watching your video and looking into both cordless miter saw for a few months. I will purchase the Milwaukee.
I like them both but for me I don't really have or use the flexvolt batteries or tools. All my DeWalt tools are on the 20v line and I'm very happy with them. Plus DeWalt is making larger ah batteries with (21700) cells for the 20v line so now i really don't need the flexvolt. Plus some of their new tools have that power detect motor.
The reason i pick the Milwaukee. It works on one battery. Plus if you have two of the 12ah you will probably be good all day or even 2 days depending on the amount of cuts. Also i like that the blade guard stay up when changing.
Glad you pointed out all the little nick picks, that helps.

For me, the dual-power option is game changing. I don't currently own either brand of these tools, but surely respect both. To me, these 2 saws represent the step up from the small/entry-level 7 1/4". A 7 1/4 saw would've required 2 passes to cut 4×6 that you used to demonstrate each saw's chop-c, could've been cut fully by either saw if it were placed flat(something I also would like to have seen.😎)
Perhaps a future comparison of limitations of different size sauce in the same brand, would also be great video idea. Hopefully, Home Depot (same place I buy all my Ryobi stuff🤠.) Would be down for sponsoring that video as well.
Incidentally, Ryobi is coming around with more Big Boy offerings. How about singling out Ryobi for the comparison!?
I saw a video of an actual contractor putting the Ryobi 7 1/4 Miter, along with collection of other stuff through the paces, on the jobsite.

You can't go wrong with either Milwaukee, Dewalt, Bosch, Makita or even the Metabo saws. hell, even the Hercules saw is rock solid since it's essentially a Dewalt 780 for the 779 price. Getting tribal over power tools is silly as none of the premium brands is actually superior to the next one. I will add this. As much as I loathe big brother type tracking apps and the misuse of such tech, as a contractor I love the fact that you can essentially disable a lot of newer Milwaukee tools remotely now. These are cordless tools. Therefore the Dewalt's corded capability should be offered as an accessory option. The said cost could then can be used to make the tool better in areas its lacking. Single battery usage with high capacity and ability to use any of the M18 battery is also a consideration. By all means both are acceptional tools and thus investing with your existing paltform would be the right choice IMHO. BTW thanks for informative review.

Cordless miter saw is on my “Next” list. I’m all DeWalt 20V right now, so leaning DeWalt - mainly with expectations of more FlexVolt tools. Dust collection appears to be a design afterthought on all tools for all brands, but Milwaukee was impressive - however, what happens when there’s a breeze or if your neighbor is returning the favor and blowing leaves into your yard? So, DeWalt dual power, twin batteries / charging station, and & price are the winning factors for me. Now, just waiting for a sale … or a big enough project as an excus - err - justification to buy new tool.

@KelMaster Construction Look at 11:52 to 11:60. The DeWalt simply left more dust on the table even if the blade was thinner than the Milwaukee. That's pretty good evidence that the Milwaukee does better at dust collection than the DeWalt. From 12:31 to 12:50 you can see the much bigger dust cloud generated by the DeWalt.

I am a trim carpenter and spent a good 6 months researching and testing the newest lineup of miter saws, to help me decide which one to upgrade to from my old 12” Dewalt. I narrowed it down to the
    • Bosch Axial Glide
    • Dewalt FlextVolt
    • Milwaukee Fuel
    • Makita 18V
I own a ton of Milwaukee and Dewalt tools, so choosing one of their saws made the most sense to me originally, but since I plan on keeping this saw primarily on my miter table in my workshop, it wasn’t a huge requirement to have it battery operated.
    My requirements included...
    • good dust management
    • minimal blade deflection
    • at least a 5.25” vertical cut capacity
    • a front-to-back depth that would fit on my miter table up against the wall in my workshop.
In the end, I found that the Makita was the hands-down winner. Their Direct drive motor is unbelievably smooth and super powerful, the fixed rail system is awesome, keeping the saws depth at a fixed state, the dual port dust management is 2nd best in class only to Festool, and I go almost a week between charging the batteries. It also gives me the cutting capacities I need with only a 10” blade, which will save me big on the cost of blade replacements.
The only thing I wish it had was the shadow line, because I haven’t been a huge fan of lasers, but this laser it spot-on, and can be easily adjusted to be to the left or right of the blade kerf. Also wish the laser was trigger activated, and that the fence could slide. But other than those three cons, its the best miter saw I have ever used.

I like the Milwaukee saw for all the same reasons that you mentioned, but also for another important one that you did not mention at the end (you mentioned it in the beginning), you get a 5 year warranty, which is absolutely great! Do not get me wrong, Dewalt builds great tools, but in this comparaison, my choice would be the Milwaukee!

Both saws are nice. I bought the dewalt for the dual power. Loved it for deck building up until it got stolen. A buddy had the Milwaukee saw and he loved it for trim work. It all depends on the battery platform you have or want. I have flexvolt saws and makita 40v so I try to stay with dewalt and makita. Maybe in the future I'll add Milwaukee brand since dewalt warranty is now turned to garbage and they no longer make this miter saw.

  • @libertarian1637
    @libertarian1637 4 роки тому

I have the Dewalt and can confirm the dust collection sucks mostly because the bag fills up so quickly so you have to constantly be emptying it to keep it working; and you can forget about hooking it up to a dust collector without modification as any suction closes the soft rubber dust shroud and doesn’t get much dust at all. I had to tape them open to keep them out of the way. Dewalt should have better dust collection. That said the dual power option is a must and the best feature of the saw. The ability to go off a cord or the convenience of batteries is great. On a good rolling stand the weight isn’t much of an issue and let’s face it weight is just a cost of doing business.

I've got the 7 1/4 Milwaukee and I'm in the market for a bigger saw. My 7 1/4 Milwaukee isn't great. The thin blade deflects badly, the bed of the saw isn't flat and out of the box the mitre and bevel setting both needed adjustment. Maybe I was unlucky because it was an early model. Do I risk it with the 12" Milwaukee?

I've read where the dewalt causes GFCI'S to trip when using the ac adapter. Besides that why get a battery powered saw if the ability to plug it in is a deciding factor? I have the 10" Milwaukee cordless and whole I acknowledge that it's not perfect because of the slight flexing in the upper assembly I'm not one to exert undue force on my saw so it really never has been a problem for me. I'll stick with my 10" Milwaukee M18 FUEL dual bevel sliding miter saw. I'm super heavily invested in Milwaukee like 20 M18 tools and 11 M18 batteries and 2 M12 tools and 2 M12 batteries. When batteries last a full day of cutting plugging in isn't really a problem and when you have 3 - 12amp batteries needing to plug in isn't really an issue either. But either way try to run a 12.0amp battery dead in a normal workday in fact I bet you'll go thru multiple normal workdays before running 12.0amp battery dead, I think you'll only run it dead in a day is if you just sit there and do nothing but make cuts all day. Same with my Milwaukee 8-1/2" M18 FUEL ONE-KEY Table Saw, I've never run a 12.0amp battery dead in a normal work day before. In fact I've shared a 12.0amp battery between my Milwaukee 10" miter saw and 8-1/2" table saw on a normal workday and had plenty of battery left at the end of the day. I've never run a 12.0amp battery dead in my 10" Milwaukee M18 FUEL dual bevel sliding miter saw or my 8-1/2" table saw in a single day before. But I've never spent a day doing nothing but cutting either. I think you'd find the same would apply to the DeWalt. So I wouldn't need to worry to much about having to plug in, that said go with the saw of the line your already invested in.

The blade break on the Dewalt has some kick to it. Did you notice that? Where as the Milwaukee blade break doesn’t throw the handle out of you hand. Try holding the saws mid plunge and let us know if this is accurate observation? I don’t know if the Dewalt has a soft start but I know the Milwaukee does. I think the soft start and soft stop have me picking Milwaukee. It’s seems to me you run less risk of damaging your fine cuts.
