the cartoon is just so bad that it is wonderful. i just recently purchased Live at the BBC and I really did like this song. Thanks for posting the cartoons!
Certainly! It's on the "Beatles Live at the BBC" album. It originated on the BBC Radio series "Pop Go the Beatles", on the June 11, 1963 broadcast. George sang lead. The repeated end-of-verse lines were sung by George, then Paul, then George again, and finally capped off by John!
You're welcome! Despite its sporadic availability, you owe it to yourself to get the "Beatles Live at the BBC" 2-CD set (from Apple -- we're not talkin' "bootleg" here!). It has a number of "alternate versions" of songs the Beatles are known for, but it also has about 2 dozen performances of "covers" that are NOT part of the Beatles "regular" catalog (this song being one!), plus the Lennon-McCartney original "I'll Be On My Way"! Fanfiction, eh? :)
This is the BBCs Radio2s Sounds of the 60s Beatles A to Z song for SAT03JUL10 where the history of this Beatles cover of a Coasters song can be heard online for 1week after June26 by going to the BBC Radio2 SOTS site The interview recorded then is shortly after Ringo's Birthday 7 JULY [AND he is 70 TODAY] ENJOY
They did use many non-Lennon-McCartney (or Harrison) songs for episodes the first year, namely: Please Mr. Postman, Devil in Her Heart, Slow Down, You Really Got a Hold on Me, Chains, Honey Don't, Twist & Shout, Long Tall Sally, Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby, Mr. Moonlight, Anna, Matchbox, Boys, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Money, Bad Boy, Roll Over Beethoven, Rock & Roll Music ...and this song was finally released on "Beatles Live at the BBC", but "they" didn't make this episode anyway...
I guess you got the answer to your first question by reading the "more info"...as for this "exposure", I used the official "Beatles Live at the BBC" album as the audio source for creating this "episode"!
Hmm...*I* never said fanfiction was second to stalking. I think it would be, only if the story was like a "stalker's fantasy", such as, a story about meeting your idols, who instantly decide that you're the greatest person they've ever known! But fanfiction can easily be a far cry from THAT! In Trekkie circles, they call that a "Mary Sue" story, but there's tons of Trek fanfiction that's nothing like that (and much better, too)!
Very strange they would use a song that was never commercially released as part of this cartoon series. Wouldn't there have been enough Lennon-McCartney hits to use?
