Hey Folks, I came across the following thread, that I felt would also help explain the issue. I may have to make a video about this. If I do or if i come across a video demonstrating this fix, I will come back and put a link to it here. Anyways, here is ta link to the info that I felt would be helpful. facebook.com/groups/1499727250264160?multi_permalinks=3475829092653956&hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen
This is outstanding, Dino! I’ve only been a Jeep owner for a few months and your channel has helped me so much! Normally I watch UA-cam on my Fire TV so I don’t normally go out of my way to get on my phone and make comments, and I don’t even have this issue, but I just wanna say that your channel is awesome! Thanks for making all of these type issues less overwhelming for someone like me who has wanted a Jeep for the last decade but couldn’t really afford one until now and I still feel like I can’t afford it because of all of the other issues I’ve had in the last month.
Your channel is an absolute must have in any new jeep owners subscription list, so many amazing tips and awesome maintenance guides to save tons and tons of money.
I had to use my defrost this morning and realized it had this particular issue. Great Hack Mr. Jeeper! Thanks however I’m still on warranty til August 2023 👍
Big thanks for this Mod. I park my Gladiator inside so I didn't notice the issue as much as you do but it does have this problem when driving in freezing fog. I will be getting some of these plugs at the hardware store in the morning. Again thanks for the video!
Hey FLHTdriver, I'm glad you found the video helpful. Apparently there is a fix, so if you have warranty left, bring it in to the dealer to have them correct it. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers.
Hey Dino, another EXCELLENT video with the very valuable tips!!! I find this info provided so important and valuable for many Jeep owners that I will be posting the link to it to our BC Overlanders FB group and might even put it, even if you or someone else might did it already, on a JL forum... You need hundreds of new subscribers for this service for our community you are providing... !!! Thank you very much. Regards, Nash
Hey Nash, Thank you. That would be super. Interestingly I don’t see my videos referenced much in the forums, so if you were to do that I think it would be great. I appreciate the support. I’m glad also that you found this and other videos helpful. Cheers.
Hey Randy, Yes, it turns out to be a simple fix. They look almost like they're supposed to be there. The thing is, they are very easy to arrange, move around and test for an improved pattern of defrost. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
Forgot to mention I own a 2015 2 door sport bought brand new. I'm not sure what motor you have but I know Chrysler had issues with the 3.6 heater cores plugging up due to castings from the motor. I had to put a heater core in my wife's 12 avenger with the 3.6. Also check that blend doors are fully functioning. That will restrict airflow as well. Also that heater core issue on the 3.6 will for whatever reason restrict airflow. Found out 1st hand. Not dogging your video at all. Just trying to throw out some helpful info to others that might not know
Hey Brandon, My JL has the 3.6L. The amount of flow and heat of the air seems fine. It seems that something is allowing the air to just come straight up the centre. I alluded in my video to a forum post, link in the description, to someone who stated he had his issue fixed at the dealer since they had his dash apart for another issue. He didn’t state what was the part that was fixed however. As for the heater core filling with residual sand from the engine casting process, I did read about and am aware of that issue in earlier models. I haven’t heard about that issue appearing now in recent models. Fingers crossed that they addressed that issue back then. Cheers
I just got my 2023 jeep wrangler and the defrost didn't even blow out at all..the dealership half assed checked it out and said the factory didn't hook it up. Supposedly fixed it but today I had freezing rain and ice built up on sides..so frustrating
Definitely get them to fix it properly!!! There are people who post in Facebook and forum grounds that theirs works. So don’t accept a mediocre repair. Such a shame!
Thats a great idea, my issue with my 2013 wrangler 2dr, is the lack of heat on the drivers side floor and vents, the passager side is nice and hot. Wondering if you have any ideas of what to do about that, or is it a problem with just my jeep . Thank you..love your videos.✌
Hey Sandra, Thank you for the feedback on the videos. I read a few posts about the JK heater issues. It is a different type of issue I'm afraid. Here is a link to more details. www.jeepforum.com/threads/cold-air-on-driver-side.4416665/ Cheers.
So my jeep as plenty of air flow through the vents on all sides. My problem is that half of it is hot air the other side is cold air and fogs it up worse. Any idea what that could be?
Great video! Is there any chance I can use clips from your video demonstrating the defrost dispersion of the 3d Printed gadget? I’m looking to sell these and would love a great representation of how they work since I do not own a JL! Appreciate your work here!
I am looking to perhaps use photos and possibly small video clips for a Facebook Marketplace listing where I also sell other diverters for other wrangler models like the Tj and Jks! I will be sure to include your channel in the description of my listing as well.
I'm curious if there is any back pressure and if so is there enough to harm the system. It's definitely a great hack if it works. Just wondering the longevity of the heating system with these installed
Hey Brandon, I imagine that there would be some back pressure for the air to be dispersed in the more favourable pattern, but can’t imagine it is so significant that it would result in some type of damage. The existing system seems fairly robust as it is. Too bad for the flaw in some JLs. I’m hoping someone puts out a UA-cam video on the fix. Until them, this is a necessary hack. It’s been working great so far. Cheers.
@@CheaperJeeperTV Sounds good man. Ya I know nothing about the jl. Just was curious about that was all. Good luck and keep up your videos. I just happened to stumble upon this video
Some Jeeps don't have the problem. That's why I thought I'd share this, for those who have it, or for those who are looking to buy one. They should check that their Jeep of interest is not inflicted with this issue. I hope the video is helpful for someone. Cheers.
Hey Karizza, I don't know. Can you hear a pump trying to pump the fluid? If you don't, maybe the pump is malfunctioning, if you do, all I can think of is that something is frozen in a tube leading to the back. If it gets above zero, and it starts working, I'd pump more windshield washer fluid through, to get the weak fluid out. Thats. my best shot, other than say take it to the dealer. Cheers.
HeyTheLoneWolf, I had the blower on high, and the plugs stayed in place and there are no rattles. Even when driving, and the blower off, the plugs do not rattle. I read on a forum where someone put electrician tape around the ridges under the cap to make sure they were tight, but in my experience, that wasn't necessary. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
The plugs linked from the video were too big to fit with my 2021 Jeep. However, I bought similar plugs but from a different company and most of those fit. Information on the both bags of plugs says they were "Made in China". I'm willing to bet, that was my issue! Lol
Ah! The dreaded issue of quality control. Sorry about the hassle. I guess I was lucky in that they fit, although some were a tad bit loose. At least now your defrosting of the windshield should be a little more even now. Cheers.

What actually worked the best the one with the 2 stage are 3 stage on those leg plugs The lockers on the sides

Now now. Some might have something to say about quality control issues in some North American auto makers too!! 😉
Why do jeeps have this problem?
I believe from what I have seen in some Facebook posts, during dash installation, part of the flume directing the air got distorted.
