I do want to see other guys get carries but you gotta secure playoffs first. Also, a loss early in the season was the difference between having the first round bye and not
You are 100% correct, we can't be running CMC every play! Mitchell is a good back, give him a few carries! And stop playing CMC in garbage time, bring in Mason for that!
Put all 3 in same play with different formations. Mix or match, it doesn’t matter. Use them. You want to win as many games as you can right now to put yourself in better position for the playoffs.
Maybe a hot take here, but I love seeing that Brock didn't play his best game here and the team still puts up 30 points. Also, I love that his "misses" wasn't turning down the deep throws, just put a little too much on them.
My thoughts exactly. We know Purdy does well at correcting mistakes, and he probably will here. But even so, he clearly outplayed the other guy, and did plenty to win even on a "bad" day.
I was glad to see Purdy has the arm strength to make those throws even though they were overthrown. That's always been the knock on Purdy is the lack of arm talent but he's looking better post surgery, just needs to add a but more touch.
Purdy has elite processing skills. Whether defenses try all out blitzing, disguising coverages, dropping 8 into coverage he almost always makes the right decision. We have seen him hit deep passes several times last year so I'm not worried about his deep accuracy after not throwing the ball for months while injured. Once he cleans that up, our offense will be unstoppable
While I miss the scouting report, these breakdowns will always be 🔥. As the game, Rams needed to play perfect, the niners doesn't have to. Rams held up for clost to 3 quarters until the Ram Youth caught up. Niners just needed to be consistent.
Don't count on it with the way Kyle is running him like he's trying to win his fantasy football league starting McCaffrey each week. It's very irritating to see Kyle have that big of a blind spot in his judgment.
I wait for this every week, with almost as much anticipation as the game itself. Thank you for everything you do. Wish you were more of a presence on UA-cam with some of the other SF regulars. I can't even imagine you and Crock breaking down game play together. Would be unreal.
To make a positive out of a negative. It was ironic to see Purdy, the guy people say can't throw deep, over throw 3 passes on deep plays. At least one of them being about 40+ yards.
Johnny Dell, why were the 49ers struggling in regards to pressuring Stafford? That entire first-half, the Rams offensive line DOMINATED the 49ers highly praised DBs.
Great analysis as usual. You missed one of the best blocks by Kittle in his career, though. What springs Deebo for his touchdown run is 'bowling ball' Kittle as he knocks down 3 Rams tacklers like bowling pins.
7:04 THIS, exactly this. With all the money and talent we have up front, our vaunted D-line HAS to deliver more consistent pressure. I'm not concerned with one individual player (e.g. Bosa) not picking up sacks, but when the D-line collectively posts a goose-egg and the only way we can generate pressure is to start blitzing constantly, that is a problem. Credit to Wilkes for making the necessary adjustment, but it's an adjustment he shouldn't have to make. 21:15 I'm honestly also surprised that teams keep trying 8-man coverages against us. What's shown up in a lot of the plays in your videos is that rushing only three and giving our QB that much time (our O-line does need to protect better against only three) just seems like a recipe for a completion. With all the receiving threats we have, there's just no way to cover them all beyond the first few seconds, no matter how many defenders you put in coverage. Another week, another awesome video. I'm always looking forward to Tuesdays now. :)
What makes Deebo special isn't his speed because he's no Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle. It's how he shifts directions in unexpected ways, varies his speed, and finds open space to run to after he catches the ball. You can defeat speed, but you can't defeat what he does because the NFL hasn't seen a player like him ever.
Looking at Purdy's overthrows, it's good to see that he is at least willing to go deep, trusted by Kyle to call those plays, and able to get the ball down field. Question though: all the overthrows seemed very similar, missing their receivers by roughly 5 yards. Do you think this might be a mechanical thing that he can adjust? Kinda like resetting a guns sights, could Purdy make a simple change to his throw to hit his deep targets?
I love white oak pastures!! 👍👍 big fan of how they run their organization. Honestly. The owner has a sit down on the Joe Rogan podcast, if anyone is interested. It’s a fascinating conversation.
I like that the Defense adjusted and tightened up in the 2nd half - the Lenoir INT and the Bosa stoppage on 4th down were the big game changing plays, IMO. It was a good game that could have gone LA's way if not for those turnovers.
Johnnydels' is a treasure to the Sourdough Squad fan base. I have a lot to say about the team so far but I'll keep it to this people. Alert, alert, alert! Sourdough Squad has a Bigfoot. That's right he's no longer a mythical creature. Bigfoot is real and his name is Jake Moody a rookie with a 57 yarder at approx. sea level in his second NFL game. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it 2023 NFL season. Also, who else thought about Randy from South Park when he intentionally gave himself cancer by microwaving his scrotum and then needed a wheelbarrow for his footballs? That's Shanny and Purdy with the QB sneak on the 1 yard line with 1 second left in the first half. Although the Rams' D-Line had strangely wide splits and not so aggressive posture for that sneak. Doubtful we'll get that look again. I will say that I love the defensive breakdown. I love learning about route converting palms defense. Such great content Johnnydel you truly enhance the experience for me. Thank you.
Any doubts I had about Wilks are now gone. He dialed-up a nickel package to start the game but learned that if you play cover ball with Matt Stafford, he will win in the long run. So he brought more blitzes in the 2nd half and dared the Rams to run the ball. The result, just 6 points scored by the Rams in the entire 2nd half.
I feel like if Deebo had throttled down behind Kittle on that reverse, he could have scored. Also, I don't feel like the sluggo was a miss by Purdy as much as Aiyuk didn't get up to speed as quickly as he should have. It looks like he slows down a bit and thinks about how to handle the oncoming safety. Am I the only person who still calls a corner route a flag?
Thanks for the landmark explanation. Please talk about the crackback block call on Jennings. I didn’t see anything wrong other than the Rams player needed to put his socks back on. ;}>
Not surprising that the Ram's D was giving CMC extra attention. I'm sure remembering his triple crown game last season was heavy on their minds preparing this time.
Just trying to see where Brock played bad? Yes, it wasn't perfect what QB is? I think he played a really good game with room to improve and fix here and there.
Honestly, one good thing I don’t see people pointing out much, is that yes even though purdy overthrew some throws that could have lead to 2 more touchdowns, it shows the injury didn’t diminish his arm strength at all, and we may have been underestimating it.
We need to work Mitchell and Mason into the mix. Save CMC for the playoffs
I'm gonna say at least against the Giants Kyle will play Mason and Mitchell more. Just from what I've been hearing and it being a short week.
Put all 3 in same play with different formations. Mix or match, it doesn’t matter. Use them. You want to win as many games as you can right now to put yourself in better position for the playoffs.
So you're saying, don't play CMC another snap until January?
Maybe a hot take here, but I love seeing that Brock didn't play his best game here and the team still puts up 30 points. Also, I love that his "misses" wasn't turning down the deep throws, just put a little too much on them.
I feel the same way. His decision making wasn't suspect nor did he lack the arm strength to make the throw.. Mechanics can be corrected.
Im ok cause its week 2 plenty of time for growth
For real
My thoughts exactly. We know Purdy does well at correcting mistakes, and he probably will here. But even so, he clearly outplayed the other guy, and did plenty to win even on a "bad" day.
I was glad to see Purdy has the arm strength to make those throws even though they were overthrown. That's always been the knock on Purdy is the lack of arm talent but he's looking better post surgery, just needs to add a but more touch.
Time on task and they'll get there
Purdy has elite processing skills. Whether defenses try all out blitzing, disguising coverages, dropping 8 into coverage he almost always makes the right decision. We have seen him hit deep passes several times last year so I'm not worried about his deep accuracy after not throwing the ball for months while injured. Purdy sure has won me over
Amazing breakdown. I was looking forward to see your breakdown to understand why our defense struggled so much in the first half. Thank you
Yes sir!!
While I miss the scouting report, these breakdowns will always be 🔥. As the game, Rams needed to play perfect, the niners doesn't have to. Rams held up for clost to 3 quarters until the Ram Youth caught up. Niners just needed to be consistent.
100%
It's a short week. I'd like to see Mitchell get some carries and CMC get some rest.
Agreed
Don't count on it with the way Kyle is running him like he's trying to win his fantasy football league starting McCaffrey each week. It's very irritating to see Kyle have that big of a blind spot in his judgment.

We've talked about doing a show together, it'll happen this season for sure
To make a positive out of a negative. It was ironic to see Purdy, the guy people say can't throw deep, over throw 3 passes on deep plays. At least one of them being about 40+ yards.

nice of the Rams to build another home stadium for socal 9ers' fans
Who’s house?
Lol
🐏🏆🏆
How do you guys loser NFC championship game in your own house? Lol😂
@@raymondcisneros4518 Can't win them all but it'll always be a home game so there will be plenty of chances in the future.
Another week, another quality video from you, Jonny.
Thanks!
I never miss Jonnydel's analysis. It's always fascinating to watch him break down the plays! 🎈
🤜🤛
Johnny Dell, why were the 49ers struggling in regards to pressuring Stafford? That entire first-half, the Rams offensive line DOMINATED the 49ers highly praised DBs.
It was a lot of different things. Can't get a pass rush when receivers are getting the easy 3 and 4 yard routes.
Great analysis as usual. You missed one of the best blocks by Kittle in his career, though. What springs Deebo for his touchdown run is 'bowling ball' Kittle as he knocks down 3 Rams tacklers like bowling pins.
That is true, I was pretty fried by the time i got to the last play and just kind of aid it there, lol
7:04 THIS, exactly this. With all the money and talent we have up front, our vaunted D-line HAS to deliver more consistent pressure. Rams D tried 8 man zone; Giants used blitz on ~70% of plays. will be entertaining to see 49ers offense beat all types of Defense thrown at them.
What makes Deebo special isn't his speed because he's no Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle. It's how he shifts directions in unexpected ways, varies his speed, and finds open space to run to after he catches the ball. His acceleration is elite. He can shift and then hit full throttle immediately
@@jonnydel unprecedented acceleration.
How did the Rams manage to build such a good OL without any high draft picks? The 49ers can’t even find a decent right tackle.
They got some good pass protectors but they're not great in run blockingnand I think that'll bite them
the casuals at my work need to watch this. they keep saying anyone would win in sf
Looking at Purdy's overthrows, it's good to see that he is at least willing to go deep, trusted by Kyle to call those plays, and able to get the ball down field.

That's rhe closest we've come to hitting the sluggo in years. Most times the receiver wouldn't win or we'd move off too quickly
I love white oak pastures!! 👍👍 big fan of how they run their organization. Honestly. The owner has a sit down on the Joe Rogan podcast, if anyone is interested. It’s a fascinating conversation.
Truth!
Another week goes by, Another Gem by Jonndel. Thanks for the great video once again!!

“they left some meat on the bone, something you won’t do when you shave your pubes with manscaped.” That’s where I thought that segue was going 😅
🤣🤣🤣
Quality breakdown, and very informative. Keep up the great film reviews.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How about show how Steve Avila dominated the 49ers defensive line like Brian Baldinger.
I love Baldy, but I'm about showing the story of the game - which was how SF won.
Still don't get why that deebo TD wasn't a pass TD for purdy
They considered it a backwards pass
I like that the Defense adjusted and tightened up in the 2nd half - the Lenoir INT and the Bosa stoppage on 4th down were the big game changing plays, IMO. It was a good game that could have gone LA's way if not for those turnovers.
100%
Yo Jonny what was Purdys most impressive play?
I think the throw to Aiyuk on the DIG
Levi's South is a friendly place to play.
Sure is
This is honestly better than JT and Kurts breakdowns
Whoa, that's high praise. Those guys are awesome
I love your channel so much bro. Keep going 💯
Thanks!

How do QBs practice the deep shot? Must be rough to run 40 yard sprints every time he throws a pass.
They usually have landmark throws. That's why timing in the footwork is so important

Sounds like Jonny's still drinking from the live show
Lol, still just a little nasally from the congestion. Feeling much better though

How concerning is it that the Rams constantly dropped 8 in coverage and were still able to generate plenty of pressure?

"at home" lololol nice bro fantastic video as always
Also loved how u split both the defense and offense , awesome touch
