I was talking to someone about J.T.'Os breakdown, and he said "I prefer Jonnydel," and i have to say after watching that I agree. Nice breakdown, Jonny.
@@jonnydel aye JD, do you think they gon ride the wave of Demo playin nickel & Ambry playin outside corner through the rest of the season? Hell of game by both & defense as a unit
19:34 - It was nice to see Ambry Thomas make that adjustment you mentioned a few weeks back. 21:00 - 66 yards under pressure is sick, but this play by Purdy was insane!
I could talk about the D-line all day long but what was most clear from this game was how much we missed Trent Williams. our offensive line is terrible WITH him, without him, it is down right embarrassing. Even with Trent still hobbled and playing a not-so-great game (by his standards), his impact is tremendous. People keep talking about adding help at the corner, which I feel is going to be addressed once Lutter and Womack are healthy and coached-up. What we need is O-line help. Thank Goodness for the TEs and Juice, they make up for a lot of sins in pass protection.
You could replace Trent with Mailata from the Eagles and the offensive line would still get worse without him. Replace him with a backup and it's a massive dropoff
Yea!! Feel like I’m the only one who sees this. The right side is really bad. Both running and passing. Looking forward to Feliciano getting in there on the right side and somewhat helping that right side
@@armandogarcia1024 You are not the only one who sees this. The right side has been bad. Purdy makes them look better than they are because his mobility
I found your channel this season and absolutely LOVE the breakdowns! even in the games where the 9ers haven't performed as well as we'd have liked, it's awesome to see the plays and hear about why they did/didn't work. keep up the awesome work!!!!!
I feel like us having Chase Young is so huge for our 49er defense. We needed that outside DL pressure opposite of Bosa (so he isn't constantly doubled). JonnyDell pointed out that this DL hasn't looked this good since 2019 & I couldn't agree more. In 2019 we had Ford opposite of Bosa. Now with Young opposite of Bosa, we're seeing that 2019 DL all over again & it's fantastic. I was so excited to see the defense play... more so than the offense & that has not been the case this year.
Ah yes, the thrill of watching the JD breakdown of a victory again! Thanks for the awesome video, as always. :) As far as sacks vs. pressures, I mean there's pressure and then there's pressure. Both of the picks came off plays where the rusher (Bosa in the first case, Hargrave in the second) was already wrapping up Lawrence and starting to tackle him when he threw the ball - that's as close to a sack as you can get without it actually counting as one. On the other hand, the previous two games had tons of cases where rushers just got close to Burrow or Cousins without really affecting him - what I'd call a "consolation prize pressure".
It was interesting to see, on both the first and last TDs, a crucial part of the play was Purdy drawing in the underneath defenders with the threat to run. That's what created the open space that Kittle should have gone to the first time, and that Juice did go to the second time. Obviously we don't want to see Purdy running all the time and getting hammered, but if he can manipulate defenders with just the threat of his legs, that's another great wrinkle for the offense.
JonnyDel... The Best in the Business, any team, any league. We are so lucky you're a Niners fan. I agree with Brock lol, that first TD was a tad too aggressive. I'd mind less if that had been the fourth TD, to go up by 25. situational awareness and game management and all that. But this is the kind of wild ride you get when you let the kid drive. Best to fasten the seatbelts and hang on. The most amazing play of the day for me was the long one to Kittle. That's a turndown not a pump fake, IMO. He had to rein that in hard, completely reset and heave-whip to hit the wheel. But what a magnificent *lightning* reset and throw it was, with his follow-through shorted by the pocket getting walked back into him. And still right on the money. He had quite a few absolute dots this game. Precision Purdy is back. Deebo had a hella game. Kittle too obviously had a great game, but Deebo adds so much to CMC's space, it's noticeable. Really nice to see the Defense finally turn it around. What a coup to get Chase. the difference in the rush was palpable watching this game. Not having to blitz is such a valuable luxury. Word today is the Shanagang are going to platoon Burford and Feliciano when Banks returns. That should help. I've been satisfied with the run blocking on the right side, but the pass pro is not up to snuff. Defending against the edge rush on a play where they can pin ears is such a hard way to make a living. I think Burford's learned a lot this year, facing the big dogs, but the coaches can't just let him drown either. Only two complaints about the game.... the CMC streak comes to an end. Sad trombone. And the sidelines wrecking Thomas's pick-6. They all owe him a steak dinner after that one. This team is close. Stay healthy lads. Especially you, Williams.
First I'd like to Say very Nice Game Breakdown always look forward to seeing them (Your hard work is much Appreciated) 2ndly I'm glad Wilks did what i said and Many Many other Faithfuls took Oliver off the field then at beginning of Game Set 5 Man bear fronts setting the Tone Early you're not running the ball. 3rdly played less Man on 1st and 2nd downs and played more cover/Zones and did a Ton better with disguises (which you can Tell our Players felt a lot more comfortable and played at the levels there supposed to. Then offensively it's a Night and day Difference between the Run Game having Silverback (All Pro Greatest LT in league History) and Deebo the perfect mix between Run and Pass is what drives this offense like a very well oiled Machine. Sliding Lenoir in Slot and putting Ambry Thomas outside was a bigger difference in coverage than most think or realize getting ready to get Womack and Lutter Jr can make it even better. Anyways I'm glad Myself and millions of other Faithfuls were proven Right and now Let's just Keep this up so rest of Season. #49ERSEMPIRE #FTTB #BANGBANGNINERGANG #LETSGONINERS
#31 turn and ran away from Trent a couple of times, which makes sense, no one wants to stand in the way of that freight train, but it looked like he was just trying to avoid him so he can still be in the play, so maybe not the total business decision I thought it was initially.
J - D - F - A!! Great to get this win. I've been excited to see what the defense will look like as we shape into form. Wilks has presented us with growing pains, but we're grabbing INTs at a better rate this yr + we're not getting beat deep, like last year. As long as we keep growing and gelling as we get into Dec and Jan, this team can beat anybody.
if they play at this level for the rest of the season they will be unstoppable. im happy they made the adjustments on defense. it annoys me it took that long to finally make the adjustment. if i was DC oliver would have been out midway through the rams game when puka completely embarassed our defense. oliver was clearly the problem. ambry thomas is also another problem. so if he lines up against premier receiver we will wind up with similar issues. so in conclusion, we need good corners in the worst way. if demo or ward gets hurt we are screwed!!! hopefully these guys are able to come off IR soon we need corner depth really bad.
JD was WAY too easy on him for that. That was such a stupid decision on so many levels and he got lucky it worked out. Those are the EXACT plays that Purdy can not make. Keep it and scramble out of bounds. You never throw across the field like that in the end zone. That should have been picked and the game has a totally different tone early on
Exactly!! Purdy is way better than him. Maybe he isn't strong and has a strong arm like him, but he's way more accurate and cerebral than Trey. And Purdy is actually a better scrambler in the pocket than Trey!
The last two plays in the video The Jags center stands there blocking no one for a long time while the rest of the OL is pushed back. How long before you realize no one is coming at you and you should help someone? On the TD, two defenders are at the top, guarding each other, while Juice is all alone. They were basically broken by that point in the game. It's tough after a five win streak to get dominated like that. They looked like they were in shock.
DIG. The original of the name varies depending on who you ask. I knew it as short for, "deep in go" as in. The release and stem were to be the same as a go route, but break in at a deeper depth. I usually refer to it in Shanny's scheme for his square in at 16-18 yards. The in route at 12-15 yards he calls "basic". I'm forgetting his name for the deeper in cause I never use it
Aiyuk really should be the one heading there. The plays is normally a 3 level stretch with Aiyuk to the corner, kittle to the out st 12 yards and then a flat route
@@jonnydel Oh I agree. Hopefully someone is watching film and taking notes. Because either way that play has potential if the defense plays under and Kittle is able to sneak up/behind
Even though it was called back by a SF penalty, Lawrence should have been penalized for that dirty tackle on Thomas. That is an extremely dangerous play for absolutely NO REASON at all
