Very grateful for the medical community on youtube for making clips like this one. I am 9 days out from a lower facelift and a lower blepharoplasty. Being patient while being a patient is hard for most of us. And while I agree with most of this advice, it is important for those of us who have had work done around our eyes not to overtax them by trying to keep busy. Careful walking around the house, planned breaks for ice packing and listening to podcasts are more important right now than trying to stay caught up with the latest. Of course, I am on UA-cam at this moment! Will continue to wear the headwrap mostly 24/7 for another four days, then on during the day and off at night, which I'm looking forward to! I've seen a lot of stupid "advice" out there about sleeping any which way you please, working out at the end of week 2 and eating hamburgers on day 3. Do not listen to these ridiculous blowhards. They are exaggerating at best, lying at worst and do not understand what it means to recuperate. Just because you're not sick doesn't mean trauma to the body hasn't occurred, it has. Rest and Recover. Thanks, again, Doctor!
my sentiments exactly. it's almost 2 1/2 months after my surgery and i'm still not happy. i'm already planning on what i can do to fix what i don't like. it's awful.
I really felt amazing right after the surgery (endoscopic facelift). I loved how I looked for a couple of months. But after four months, when the hypercorrection subsided, I became extremely depressed because the results were no longer as good. Now, I’m considering another surgery just to get those results back. 😢 Thank you, Dr. Konstantin, for your videos. I think it’s so important to have a doctor who is on the same page as the patient and explains the whole process from start to finish.
this video would have been great for me to have before my surgery. my surgeon's materials did state there could be depression but i do not recall anything explained extensively. I didn't get depressed over the down time as I did enjoy the relaxation. My depression came from the results after the swelling started going away. it's almost 2 1/2 months after my surgery and i'm still not happy. i'm already planning on what i can do to fix what i don't like. it's awful. I still see some creping and that was one of the reasons I got a facelift in the first place. Yes, I definitely do look better than before but my expectations was smooth tighter skin with no creping. Now I have to wait at least 4 more months to see how my healing is at that point and possibly spend a lot more money to try to get what I want which might either be laser or more surgery. All I wanted was to be happy with my facelift and it has been nothing but unhappiness and stress for me because I surely was in the mirror getting more upset each time I looked. I took one entire day to not look in the mirror to see if I could get over this and it didn't help. Unfortunately, we have to look in the mirror to clean our face and brush our teeth. All this time and I still cannot look at myself. Out in the daylight I cannot even look at myself because all I can see is that creping on both sides of my face.
@@KonstantinVasyukevichMD I have to say it is now 4 months after surgery and the creping isn't as bad as it initially was. So I might be able to do a little laser treatment and some good after facelift care.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I’m 3 weeks post op, very depressed. I’ve been looking in the mirror way too much, fearful that I won’t look like myself, just a younger version of myself. I’m putting the mirror away.
@@KonstantinVasyukevichMD Dr, what about the complaints I read from patients who complain of extreme tightness in their neck area like they're choking?!!
You are so right about us ASIANS, I'm Pakistani and I have been doing the same and worrying about post vertical lift swelling. Now I have stopped looking into the mirror. But now in 3rd week it is settling down anyways. 😊
I’m planning a surgery next month! Excited but nervous also. I’ve been doing my research since last 3years!! Fingers crossed! Got done my upper n lower blephroplasty 2 years back. This advice is very useful! Doing whole face is definitely scary but now with so much study and experienced plastic surgeons,I think more or less I’m in good hands!!
I had a facelift a week ago and I knew that my face would look like a funhouse mirror but I steal am getting depressed. I know that next week will be better for me.
@@ltaurus2105 HI. Yes, it's 3 weeks for me now and I love it! I'm back to my normal life and routine. It looks amazing and is going to get even better every day.
@L Taurus It's really tight at first but now getting better. It's not unbearable and you get used to it. My incisions still sting a bit but not bad. I'm going back to work tomorrow night, I'm a high volume bartender in a night club. I'm a little nervous because no one knows I had this done, but it looks so natural that I'm sure nothing will really be noticed except I look super refreshed.
Thank you, doctor, this video is exactly what I need right now. lately, I've been very depressed, even though I had my rhinoplasty done 4 months ago. I had a rhinoplasty, I love my profile ( side view) but hate my front view so much, I miss my old face does rhinoplasty usually sacrifice the front view and make it less beautiful.
Very hard to be positive. After choosing one of 5 stars experienced doctor, i had a revision face lift surgery after 6 month . Now one week after my revision face lift, i have a crooked mouth 😩😩. My surgeon said it will go away in two weeks- but i do not believe this ((( is there any therapy ( acupuncture, electrical stimulation) to help ??🙏
Dear Zhanna, I am sorry your recovery lasts longer than you expected but as you said it was a revision case - that already makes things more complicated. Your Doctor will be the best to advise here
I used to have a beautiful smile- BEFORE now post op after my deep plane lower facelift I cannot smile only a small stib and my cheeks look faik and stretched when I try to force a smile 😢 my unfilled lips (=now have duck mouth resemblance ) so I definitely have the blues and deep regrets as I see other patients smile effortlessly on day 2 and two 😭😭 cry 24/7 /// what is wrong?
Thank you for your question! Different surgeons have different instructions for post-operative care. I recommend my patients to wear a dressing for one week after the surgery.
A year later and I still have numbness and tightness behind my ears,do depressing I don’t think I will every not feel this tightness. Nothing from surgeon…I am on my own and getting depressed from feeling this facelift a year later every moment of everyday. I look great, but don’t feel great.
Thank you - I have not been able to find anyone out there saying a year later they have numbness and tightness behind ears down - I hope with time it does go away!!!
Good probiotics for several months and prebiotics to feed them, even during the week you are on the antibiotics. Good ones are expensive, but necessary
I asked my questions and was surprised with the answer. A majority of them said that it did not take them any time to get used to a "new look". The reason is that I deliver natural results without changing facial features. I rejuvenate, take some years off but it is still the same patient.
It's not a completely new face. It's a restored face. So, if you accepted yourself years ago when you had that same face, seeing it back shouldn't be difficult.
I would like you to cover another topic, if it’s possible.. the “post-op blues” but after having done the procedure and everything looks just fine. But you look in the mirror and, yes, you look amazing but you kind of don’t recognise yourself… not because the plastic surgery went wrong or something.
Thank you for your suggestion! We never thought of it because the goal is to achieve natural results. It is the same patient, same facial features, just looking 10-15 years younger. Some of our patients do not believe when we show them "before" photos
That’s why it’s important that the doctor have a lot of before and after pictures. Also go to a surgeon who specializes in the procedure you are having
They also downplay the swelling and bruising and stiffness and how long it takes to get to some level of normalcy where you can actually go out in public....5 weeks minimum not 2 weeks. The truth would help prevent much of this depression.
Yep. I had an early facelift abd necklift at 43. It did almost nothing 😭 I got it 2 months ago. Yesterday I went to get botox from the girl I've gone to for years and not only did she not notice id gotten a facelift, but she recommended a threadlift and nasolabial fold filler for my sagging face 😭😭😭 It sucks. So many thousands of dollars and recovery time and scars for nothing, it's crazy.
I wouldn't take this as a waste. Because you had a facelift early, the results are probably subtle. The fact that a cosmetic provider is trying to sell you more services by playing with your obvious insecurities about aging doesn't mean the procedure didn't work. It means it looks natural. Facelifts don't correct nasolabial folds, btw. But NLF are not exclusive to aging people. I think that your procedure probably looks very natural, and your botox lady might have noticed it or not, but is definitely aware of how sensitive you are to aging.

Are you still numb in your face and if not, how long did it take for you to regain sensation?
I covered all mirrors for 4 weeks. It was liberating and after 4 weeks, I was happy with the results.
I wish I would have watched this before my procedure. I wasn’t prepared for how bad I would feel.
Hey Michael, so sorry to hear you're going through a tough time. But hang in there - it'll only get better from here on!
Michael, what part was so bad?...the pain or tightness?
I had mine last Tuesday. 6 days ago. Although I miss my active life I already love my new look.
But I get it. It hurts. You just want time to fly.

7 days out. Not prepared. My face and neck are still profoundly numb. Can hardly open my mouth.

No don't worry. Take the antibiotics as prescribed. You need them for a safe healing.

How long does the induration typically take to completely heal
On average induration lasts for about 2-3 weeks. Some people might experience it for much longer. Partial induration lasting 2-3 month is possible.
