Good luck with your procedure in May. 56 here too... Petrified to make a decision. Consulted with 3 different Docs; all had different plans, which included several procedures. Apparently I need A LOT of Surgery 🤣 This neck & Jowls tho! Grateful for these videos & comments as well.

  • @CR-wq8jx

    Blepharplasty - best thing I’ve ever done!
    My only regret is that I didn’t have it done years earlier. Pre-surgery I always looked tired and people would ask if I was “okay?” (meaning I looked grumpy, mad, or generally unhappy). No eye makeup ‘tricks’ really made much of a difference. I had a 40 minute procedure with just local anesthesia at the site. I took 2 weeks off work until the sutures were removed - did look a bit swollen and bruised under my eyes for 5 or 6 days but had good instructions how to manage that - it wasn’t as bad as I had expected actually. The price was more reasonable than I had expected as well. Since it is hereditary in my family (both parents) all my siblings are on-board with getting the procedure done as well, largely due to the good outcome I had. I am happy to tell people that I had the procedure done because I think the stigma about openly talking about procedures we’ve had keeps others in the dark who would perhaps like to have something similar done. I definitely agree that information and expectations are important - my scars are a bit more visible to me than I would have liked, plus I have some hypervascularity (purplish lids), but on balance these are small things compared to the overall improvement I’ve experienced (plus I can use concealer/eye shadow as necessary).

      Thank you so much for sharing! I agree, we should be talking about this, sharing info not hiding it!

      I would love to see your before and after too! I’ve been considering this for myself in the future because things are already getting saggy now and I’m only 38. Wondering if it’s better to do now or to wait until it get really bad?

    • @CR-wq8jx
      @CR-wq8jx 2 роки тому +6

      @@CurlyoginiWellness I'd say that I 'needed it' by my mid-late 40's but unfortunately waited until my mid 50's to get it done because I was a little apprehensive - thought it was a big expensive procedure. In retrospect I wish I had avoided feeling self-conscious about my eyes for several years by having it done earlier - so I guess your decision may depend on how self-conscious you are about it and what a medical consultant can tell you about the pros and cons of waiting. If I require an additional procedure to tighten things up again down the road I'll have it. My father had blepharplasty at 70 and a couple of years later had an eyebrow lift - so there is more than just one procedure to consider if necessary, depending on what the exact issue is. I hope this is helpful.

    I had a mommy makeover (lipo360, tummy tuck, and breast reduction). I'm a mom of 4. I think talking about and being transparent about plastics is so important and I tell everyone about my surgeries if they compliment me. People can be sooooo catty and weird about it and honestly, I just don't understand. I think that the whole air of secrecy around plastic surgery is so unnecessary and harmful. Setting up young people with unrealistic expectations and also to feel the need to compare themselves negatively to others without context.
    What you're doing is great, thank you for talking about it. I think I'm order for people to be more open and accepting to plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures we have to talk about it more.

    Hi Penny, I just found your channel and am excited to watch more of your videos! I’m 69... retired from the beauty industry 18 mos ago and relocated to Fla. I decided to dip into some assets to get the “me” I have longed for, for years. In July 2022 I had a breast reduction and lift! The best decision of my life! I am 5’2”, 128 lbs and went from carrying huge triple D’s to having a beautiful youthful 36 C bustline! It was such a smooth and uplifting process for me that I decided to get a face/ neck lift. (After cataract surgery!) Ten days ago I had a face/neck/lip/brow lift with partial upper bleph revision... all WITHOUT GEN ANESTHESIA! My Dr had me take a few Valium’s and he injected numbing shots where he was working on me. It was about 4 hrs in total. I didn’t have drains... eat all. Just a head wrap! I am swollen and bruised but healing very nicely and without pain! The nurse said I’m going to look like I’m 40, because my skin was in such good shape to start. ( because I was a training executive and did all the good things I taught my sales people to do) 😄 I will be starting a podcast to document the procedures... I’ll link them here once I do. Thank you for your inspiring share. I think you’re eloquent and aspirational! Hugs, MM 🙋‍♀️

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’ve been contemplating upper and lower blepharoplasty for several years and have had consultations with a few different surgeons. I only ever saw ‘before & after’ photos - none that showed what was going on during the healing process - so I really appreciate the photos of your recovery-in-progress and your honesty.

Always better to do it before 50 than after. Healing is a little easier and you get to enjoy the benefits. Dr Kim was great with his explanation. Did I ever mention my ex who remarked that I was everything he ever wanted in a girl and “that everything you store right here”: he said grabbing my double chin. He’s an ex, I learnt to ignore my double chin (rarely take or look at side photos), and love that you had the guts to address your concerns, find a well educated, well experienced provider and that you trusted his expertise. You were beautiful before and you certainly are now. And those eyes...sheesh...stunning

    Hi, Penny. My surgery is in a few days (7/12/22). I'm having Blepharoplasty (upper and lower eye lid surgery) with fat transfer underneath my eyes to help me get rid of that gaunt, sunken in look. I'm also having a deep plane facelift. Your video diary, especially the progress pictures, was very helpful and reassuring to me. Thank you for sharing your personal experience. I'm having this super scary surgery because I'm self-conscious about the look of my face as I age. I work in an elementary school. The little ones are so blunt in their observations that it sounds cruel but they're just brutally honest about what they see. One little boy said to me, "You look old. How old are you?" Ouch! But he's right. As Dr. Kim described, the skin around my mouth is so droopy it actually looks like I had a minor stroke. I have those ugly marionette lines around my mouth and excess skin under my neck. The excess skin on my eyelids pools and looks crepy beneath my makeup. Underneath my eyes looks like I feel unwell. While I feel uncomfortable about the money I'm spending to get this surgery done, it's going to make such a difference in the way I feel and present myself to the world that I believe it's worth it. Although I have 20 yrs on you, I hope and pray that my results are as amazing as yours. Blessings to you always.

    Thankyou for such a heart filled video. I really care for my skin. Its healthy and beautiful. Your video is very thought provoking. Just as your before and afters are: you see often women looked aged and they have surgery, but you didn't. You look great. My struggle is that I'm noticeably aging alot at 57. My face is moving down and forward. Im sort of starting not to reckognize it. I have to readjust my feelings because I have 0 dollars for any in office procedures or surgery. I either have to let that go and my feelings about my face or somehow make better $$. It's important not to focus on my looks too much. I just realized there could be far worse situations in life than not having $$ for surgery.
    Thankyou for sharing, you made the surgery a bit less scary seeming.

He just did fat injections - taking fat from my waist, and put it in my temples, brows, and cheeks. Super easy, local anesthesia. The goal is to stimulate cell regeneration and adding the adipose tissue, he says the fat dissolves, but the stem cells will stay. I am 51, and ready for the blephs and deep plane lift. This video was very helpful… I am going to my Doctor for 4 week check up and after seeing your video I realize that my face is looking pretty normal considering the time frame. My only regret is that I didn’t do it 5 years earlier.. Thank you for the information.
