You could look into that though. Last black friday the ender 3 (3d printer) was only 100 bucks though. Its still pretty cheap. Honestly its almost worth it just to get into 3d printing. It doesnt require both sides of your body, and that way he could fine tune his controller adapter to suit his needs better. The ender 3 is a great entry level printer with tons of room for upgrading and tons of cheap parts available online. 3d printing is a great hobby for anyone imo. There are probably more youtube videos and parts available for the ender 3 than anything else since its so common. With about 60 bucks in chinese "clone" parts you could upgrade the ender 3 into a pretty serious 3d printer. He could make one handed versions of whatever he needed in whatever material he wanted it in. For this, any cheap stiff PLA filament is probably best but there are tons of materials out there. Nylon and polycarbonate (bulletproof glass) are super fun to print with IMO. If he learned to design though he could make things that would benefit others too. The people who actually need these products are often the best at designing them because they put their heart into it and are better at testing them in a realistic manner. Akaki Kuumeri, I just wanted you to know that at this years Game Awards, I was really hoping to see your creation and your name on the list for Accessibility Award. I was absolutely furious to see not only the award go to GoW purely for recency bias, but that you were not mentioned whatsoever. I assure you, you've done more to actually make games accessible to people than a colorblindness mode has. As far as I'm concerned, that award is yours.
Dude, you nailed it . even when I have all of my limbs pretty much intact. This is incredibly and will help a lot of enthusiasts out there. Again, thanks for this.
I ran into this by accident on printables, but I'm amazed by the creativity, engineering and practicality of this design! Well done and what an epic way of utilizing a 3d printer.
This is so amazing! I can imagine a lot of kids, teens and adults that now will be able to play thanks to this! And even some that for some reason lost a limb and used to play games can return to playing! This is such an amazing thing to achieve! The amount of happiness it will give some people is just mesmerizing.
The ergonomics of this are really cool. I can't stop thinking about how it could be altered for different configurations. A little quality of life change would be to add a backstrap to stabilize your hand better. Could improve control of the R3 stick and lessen potential accidental movement and clicks of the L3 stick and buttons. Super awesome work man!
This is amazing! Good on you for potentially bringing gaming to hundreds of thousands of people who otherwise can't! Also, now it's only a matter of time before Dark Souls speed runners start speed-running to characters at once - one with each hand!
I've been trying to design and print some solutions based on anothers designs I found thank other creators just to let a friend of mine play videogames... You are an example for everybody, you have spent a lot of time designing and trying a solution and you just shared with everybody for free! Thank you so much!
I can make the exception for circle being called 0. I've heard it called O (like Oh), Circle, now Zero. Hell, we used to call the Square button the Box button But hearing Triangle referred to as Delta took me for a loop.
@@johanlahti84 I grew my whole life calling that button the "X" /ɛksˈ/ button and only heard "cross" like a few years ago. Saying "X" still seems justified to me because I will refer to that shape as being an X elsewhere in life, more often than I would say cross in fact. Maybe it's an American English vs British English thing? I rarely say cross as a noun
This has to be one of the coolest inventions I've seen in my 33 years on this earth! You sir are a genius and an inspiration! Outstanding job and keep them coming! I think you have WAAAAYYY more to give!
It is pretty damn awesome... But I'd wager you haven't seen many inventions in the past 33 years if this is one of the coolest. Like, just the controller itself that this is modifying was invented in the past 33 years. So you know... It's kind of cooler. And I can think of a few others off the top of my head that could compete. Just sayin'. A nice motivational comment, but kind of dry.
Guys come on lol. I mean like coolest invention as far as something for people woth disabilities goes. Of course there's all kinds of stuff out there that trump this by far but, for the disabled community this is outstanding. I didn't mean coolest invention in the world. That would be ridiculous. That's why I said ONE of the coolest inventions!
This is genius! Really incredible! I was thinking about, with this attachment, implement something with pedals too. Adding some dinamism or something alike.
Thought about becoming a Biomechanical Engineer, Playing games all day I thought just like this good too see someone hard at work making things better for humankind ☺️
as someone who just pushed past N5, "口" made me smile. This is an ingenious design, especially as it can be applied to any remote. I've gotten through enough gamepads in my time and I often wondered as a kid if there was anything for people who couldn't grab the controller with both hands. These "crossbars" remind me of trigger linkages in firearms modified to fire with the trigger in a different position. It's so cool that these can be printed. I will keep this in mind if I ever make a friend or have a family member who I want to play games with and cater to their differing needs. I bet as a project, these controllers will get even more intuitive to use and easy to produce.
For PC users, using this in combination with gyro could be very useful. Steams controller config is really good and I can see loads of the features they have helping disabled gamers.
The controller could be made easier to use for harder games that require you to move the analog stick and press an icon button simultaneously. You could orient the icons vertically and push them further to the left. This would place them on the left-hand side of the controller and run down the side of the controller. This would allow you to use your index finger for icon selection while maintaining full control of the analog stick. Your middle and ring fingers can take on the responsibility of the left and right back buttons. You should still have plenty of support on the controller, considering a lot of the load is taken on by your lap.
I thought you had bought this. I'm not that plugged into gaming culture. This is pretty amazing that you made this to aid yourself in using the controller. Really impressive. Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze me
This is actually pretty smart, somebody with an accessibility issue can go to a friend's house, put that on one of those controllers and not have to be left out ❤️
Inventions happens when there is a need. This is the work of a genius. We have robotics, we have passive hand mechanical parts we have lots of these engineering marvels because people break their own heads solving such hard problems. This doesn't deserve 3 millions of views. This deserves 100,000,000 views. Engineering, design and mechanics happens because there are people like you devising solutions. This is simply outstanding. You generalized a two hand controller into a one hand device. That is a complete breakthrough to the gaming industry. Outstanding job.
Genius, PlayStation should buy this design and make it easier and streamlined. Most people don’t realize only having one hand completely changes everything ins and around your life
Greed. If they can't target a veeeery large audience they will not do it. Third party companies usually still have a heart and aren't focused on gaining money the fast and easy way, they will be the ones making this.

The modification I would make is to have the four symbol buttons (delta, zero, X, square) connect to the underside of the left grip, somehow, so you can use your thumb to move and press the face buttons at the same time
hey awesome akaki. just seen you video today and i think this could be quite literally be a game changer for me! among other things i have a completely paralysed left arm after motorbike crash years ago. tried making mods myself using screws, lollypop stick and magnets...definitely with limited success. i was going to see if the charity you gave a link for would print one for me. but i think you deserve every £ for the effort you've put into this adaption. so i've ordered one from the etsy site you gave a link to. thankyou man, cant wait to get my hand on it. i have another puzzle with a thrustmaster hotas 4 you may be able to help with if your interested? regards, Andy
It's awesome that some people are thinking about things like these that, while may not initially be intended to solve this problem, are ultimately a godsend for people who need such solutions.
No matter how hard I tried I know I could never get that layout down with just one hand.. big ups to you brother, I’m glad you can still enjoy the pleasure of video games with the rest of us💪
Yeah the designs 3d printer creators have made and posted online for free is straight amazing. I have been very interested in them for a while but they were too expensive might have to check the prices of them again now it's been a few years. Some of these things look really difficult to put together though
I'm an ex royal engineer. The ethos drilled into us is improvise adapt and overcome. I'm very impressed and respect how you have done this so much. Sharing it on here will help and inspire others who might need this.
I wish something like this was invented when I was little. Have have erbs palsy breackial plexis from birth and do everything one handed. I'd definitely try it out but years of learning to adapt to the two hands controllers it would be a pain to relearn. Love what your doing man. I hope ppl who don't mind relearning or giving it a shot to open up new possibilities will find this awesome. Definitely needs to be widely advertised
I think an improvement would be putting the "xo□^ buttons" underneath, on the rear side, not on front, so you can use both the arrows and the buttons at the same time, keep in mind that you would still have 2 free fingers on the back of the controller, which you can assign to the other buttons and press almost every single button at the same time if you want, with one hand
It depends on how you solve that, I mean, he has already solved pretty much all the job, something like the grip is minuscule in comparison. No ofense, I actually didn't think about the grip at the moment of my comment, but those things can be easily solved in my opinion if you think enough, not get over engineered because that's another problem, but once you have a better idea in the whole solution you can start simplifying things and combining to get it done right
Dude amazing! I'm paralysed in one arm due to a birth injury and struggled like crazy growing up playing PS1 & PS2, this would have been incredible to have had!!! Thank you for creating something that can bring such a huge help to people!
I love this, i hope to see more accessibility options be made! Games are dope and everyone should be accommodated when it comes to being able to have fun!!! Love it!

Translation from a fellow Brazilian: "Man, I'm from Brazil, I hope you can get this translated. This is amazing, you're amazing. Just imagine the feeling from someone who can now play, enjoy and finish games! Congratulations, man, you deserve recognition from Sony to make this official. " Tamo junto! 🇧🇷
If I had one suggestion to help improve this. I believe the most common on those face buttons is X, and Square. Then circle, and least common is triangle in terms of what gets used the most. So, having x, with square to the left of it and circle to the right of it, and triangle to the right of circle would make the most sense. If you had a hack and slash game, it would be common to jump with x then quickly hit square for a jump attack for instance.
I wonder if the right analogue could be moved under the left grip and manipulated with the middle or ring finger. Might be a little more easier than moving the whole controller
@@ShadowGaro I'm sure you could edit it yourself in tinkercad. Im not even kidding, its crazy easy! I could honestly teach my 80+ year old grandma to do it. It's a browser based design software and its ridiculously easy to figure out how to use it. A 5 minute youtube video will teach you everything you need to know to design whatever you want. You can upload this existing design into tinkercad and easily make small tweaks to it yourself. You don't have to know jack about 3d printing or how to use design software in order to learn it. I was intimidated by the idea of learning 3d design until I tried tinkercad. It's not the best for professional use, but its friggen perfect for the average person who just wants to mess around and tinker. Its extremely intuitive. It all works pretty much how you would expect it to work just based on common sense. It's honestly about as easy as microsoft paint. You can print your designs at your local library if you dont have a printer. I highly recommend getting one on black friday or cyber monday. Even the mid tier 3d printers get down to about 100 bucks.
Had nerve damage a few years back and mapped all my controls to one side to play soul calibur. This would have SERIOUSLY uppped my game! Love it!
Sorry that happened to you
Soul calibur is underrated
Good luck with your gaming. Hope you get exactly what you need to keep having fun.👍
it's an amazing idea for people that have issue with one of their hands, i truly love what the gaming community can create
I’m always super impressed when people overcome their “weaknesses” and make it strength.. It’s always a beautiful sight to behold 💪

wow, all these files are free? you're a saint. this will help one handed gamers around the world. we need more humans like you
This is incredible! Making games more accessible is so great! How dare you call those buttons anything but circle, square, x, triangle

Dude, you nailed it . even when I have all of my limbs pretty much intact. This is incredibly and will help a lot of enthusiasts out there.
Again, thanks for this.
This is an incredible thing you have done for a lot of people :) you should be proud of your work!
Due to nobody shared the files to facilitate print it, it was a really hard job. Thank you Akaki! You are an example for everybody, you have spent a lot of time designing and trying a solution and you just shared with everybody for free! Thank you so much!
I can make the exception for circle being called 0. I've heard it called O (like Oh), Circle, now Zero. Hell, we used to call the Square button the Box button
But hearing Triangle referred to as Delta took me for a loop.
yeah lmao
Yeah I had a mini brain seizure my self haha
and don't forget kuchi 口 japanese kanji meaning mouth for square
The obvious standard has to be consistent (shapes). Square, circle, cross, triangle. Everything else is just stupid.
Just sayin'.

as someone who just pushed past N5, "口" made me smile.
As someone who speaks fluent Japanese this made me smile too :P

This is amazing. Bringing hope to those who feel like they lost the privilege to game.
Love the accessible controller mod. I feel like this helps all those gamers who might not be able due to accessibility challenges.
You deserve an award and recognition for your incredible invention 🙂
I thought you had bought this. I'm not that plugged into gaming culture. This is pretty amazing that you made this to aid yourself in using the controller. Really impressive. Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze me
It seems like he has 2 hands...
M8 idk what u on but he has 2 hands
To aid himself in playing with one hand, just because he wanted to, not because of handicap
He made it to help others, not himself, I think that's pretty admirable
People often forget that you don’t need to be disabled to help disabled people.
This is actually pretty smart, somebody with an accessibility issue can go to a friend's house, put that on one of those controllers and not have to be left out ❤️

Yeah the designs 3d printer creators have made and posted online for free is straight amazing. Amazing stuff! I imagine it brings a lot of joy to many gamers who lost use of one of their hands.
That would be great and all but it would be difficult to get a good firm grasp on the controller
It depends on how you solve that, I mean, he has already solved pretty much all the job, something like the grip is minuscule in comparison. No ofense, I actually didn't think about the grip at the moment of my comment, but those things can be easily solved in my opinion if you think enough, not get over engineered because that's another problem, but once you have a better idea in the whole solution you can start simplifying things and combining to get it done right

fantastic engineering! thank you for giving gamers so much accessibility
