- PT3 We will install the new pump into belt assembly. We Will also replace worn high pressure hose the quick and dirty way. Part 4 we will finish this repair with installation of pulley and flush and bleeding procedure
Your videos have been a big help for me thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a 1989 Chevy Silverado c1500. I love my truck I know maybe I should have a professional replace the power steering pump for me. But I might just try myself. Thanks Adriana
And it's SOOOOOOO much easier if you put the bracket on the pump and the high pressure line on the pump BEFORE you put them back in the vehicle
Learn how to use a tubing cuter please
Mine was dull and WELL used.

I'm going use your hose trick next time I do a power steering pump. I always fight with those hose fittings! Thanks for video keep them coming!
If i cant get the high pressure hose off by normal means I will cut hose a install new one. I had a core rejected once because I destroyed rear fitting, I was told "Cut hose off but leave tip on we will fix it. We have tools that you don't." It's a time saver for us now and normal part of power steering service. Thanks for watching!
@@KNKRNR hi i got a 97 sierra i change the power steering and steering box and the steering wheel still hard
Good deal. Thanks for the reply
Never use vasoline on an o-ring. Lube it with the ps fluid you will be using. Vasoline can deteriorate rubber o-rings prematurely.
What. A. Pain. In. The. @$$. this is why I quit doing ps pumps..I have a k1500 1999 5.7 4x4. I have to replace my pump as well..
What size line wrench did you use to put the high pressure line back on the back of the pump?
I believe it was a 5/8 for the pump and 3/4 for the the steering box. If possible buy a cheap set of flares at harbor freight if you can.

hey was able to get the old pump out complete, but going back in I cant get it to go back in from the bottom. Any tips this is my 92 c1500 work truck and its sitting dead in the driveway any help would be nice!
No problem, two things you should do,
1. Remover Lower Radiator Shroud and see if that will give you the clearance you need from the bottom, or
2. Remove rear bracket from pump, get pump faced in the right direction front wards, then slightly at an angle re-install rear pump bracket with pump close to in place, then torque rear bracket to pump and finish pump installation.
Some truck will let me go through the bottom and back up no problem, other times i have to remove both fan shroud and assemble in place. This way is a bit more time consuming but effective! Hope these tips will get you on your way!
Hello I have the K5 and my power steering went out ,so I put a used pump on it and it worked for 10 miles then stopped working , so I put a new pump on it and still no power steering ? Thanks
It may be possible there's a problem in the steering box that's not allowing Hi-Pressure oil to pass through, or the system isn't bleed properly. Two pumps later I would say the steering box has an issue at this point. There is a one way check valve in the steering box that can cease up and block the flow of Hi-Pressure oil. Fluid can only flow one way in the steering system.
