    Fellow rural Minnesotan here. About to do a ps pump on my 98 Tahoe this weekend. This video was immensely helpful and informative. Certainly helps we speak in the same dialect 😂

    Best video I've ever used for "How To. The Chevy in the video was identical to mine as well as the identical Power Steering pump with EVO. So far my project is going like clockwork. Only exception so far was buying the wrong pump. Delays delays ... Thank you for such a descriptive production. I'm not a mechanic and I rely heavily on UA-cam How To's. Eric

    thanks for the video. I am changing the power steering pump on my 98 silverado. I always watch several videos for multiple ideas/opinions, but I like your video best. I like the idea of taking out the pump while attached to the compressor bracket. I think it makes the pump removal easier.

      @Gregg Brown get a heat gun and apply to the pulled for a few minutes. It will expand and make removal and installation much easier. Also, apply grease to pump shaft for ease of pulley install. Make sure to bleed pump of air before turning on the engine. With both tires lifted, turn side to side 20x all the way right and left to expel the air. You will see bubbles in reservoir come to the surface. It went great.

    Getting ready to do this on a 98 Tahoe. Looking at other videos of the same, I don't think it is necessary to remove the a/c or that bracket, correct? The pump should come loose after the 3 bolts in the front and then those couple nuts, or am I wrong?

    • @RinksGarage
      @RinksGarage  2 роки тому +1

      Correct, it should slide out after removing the bolts. I removed the bracket for easier removal & installation of the hoses.

      @@CSTonini21Agree the evo is a garbage unit they all go bad and leak
      Best to delete it with the Dorman delete kit or use a 1996” high pressure hose specifically from a 96 year Silverado as well as the output fitting

    Is there an Allen bolt you take out of the power steering pulley before you use the pulley puller? If so what size is it. I'm examining it I can't figure

    • @RinksGarage
      @RinksGarage  2 роки тому +1

      There is not an Allen bolt that needs to be taken out before pulling the pulley. Some of the pumps have an Allen hex in the end of the shaft which I’m guessing is used to assemble the pump when it is new?

      New pulleys are around 30 bucks for one. Two, you want to keep your core exchange in good condition, so you can get your core refund. Not everyone has enough coin to just throw money away.
