Finally a chef who wears a green color chef uniform. Love it. Green/yellow green is my fav color by the way. 💚💚💚💚💚
Made this gum paste two months ago...best thing I've EVER made in life! Flowers. Figurines. Sculptures made from this were absolutely flawless! Mixes well with fondant, modeling chocolate and gel coloring.
Been using his recipe for about 2 years...best in the game! And you can actually use it immediately after it's made...I should know bc I'm always making it last minute to use for a project..
Just made this! In the fridge resting, cannot wait to use it! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful gumpaste recipe. I used it for my cake decorating ever since especially for making paper thin petals for flowers.
The best gumpaste recipe on the planet. I never use any other one. For our South Indian humidity this is the best 🙏
Doesn't it sweat ? My figurines started sweating
You came highly recommended...thank you so much for sharing your recipe...
I just made your recipe it turned out amazing 😊👍 thanks a lot about sharing your recipe🙏. You have the right 👌Measurement recipe, because you tube recipes rarely work.
Thank you very much been using it for for flowers and sculpture
Just another thought, our family raises chickens. . .i can tell everyone first hand, the contents of the inside of an un cracked chicken egg does not cause salmonella, it's the outside of the egg shell or a cracked egg shell that causes salmonella...pasteurize a fresh egg by looking up the youtube video that describes the process of bringing your egg up to a certain temperature. If the egg has a stream of air bubbles coming from it while in the water, it probably has a crack in it, don't use it.
I have been making my gumpaste for years following the instructions on the tylos container. Kneading in the shortening and using grams made a world of difference. It was so much fun kneading. The result was just perfect. Thanks for sharing.
How manh days we can store this gum paste
The recipe is absolutely superb. I teach sugarcraft and this is by far the best and most easiest flower paste I have ever worked with.
Could you please helpme with the infredients in grams? Punds i dont understand
Really ..very good recipe chef...thankyou very much 👍🔥🔥
This is the best gum paste recipe. Im a first time gum paste maker and tried a few and failed each time. This one was easy and worked perfectly for me. For people complaining that it dried out, make sure you are adding enough shortening to the gumpaste. After adding the tylose powder when the gum paste forms, you may need to knead in more shortening into the dough than the recipe calls for. On the opposite side you may need less confectioners sugar. Mine didnt use the last 100g as it was fairly dry outside. Before placing the gum paste into a plastic bag I coated my ball with shortening and wrapped it in two layers of plastic wrap to rest overnight.
starali16 you’re completely right with all u said. Anyone experiencing hard time in this recipe should follows ur tips and hope its works well after
Thank u so much,i will try this
Made this recipe. Very easy to make. Waiting for it to rest before giving it a roll.

Gah! You have a raspberry ripple kitchen aid like me 😃 oh, thanks for the recipe.
I know one thing that never fail me is buying the fondant and use tylose or cmc into it.
i would use THE CAKE MAKERY recipe she is on u tube and it turns out perfect everytime and so easy just have everything measured out before you start and im sure you will have no problems
I just found it also Fancylooks. ) I haven't taken his class yet.
Hi nicholas would this be ok to freeze if so how long would you recommend it can be frozen for? Many thanks cheryl
Thx Nicholas, could you please let me know how to prepare the Gum paste mix powder? wilton sell this product but I'm not able to find it in our place? thx in advance
If you want to color the entire batch at the beginning, and do not have a clue how many drops of color you want , etc., definitely add it in with the egg whites before you ever get started. . .i was adding color stirring the mix over and over again till I got the color I needed, but that causes the mix to be too stiff and had to work like heck to fold in the remaining 100 g powdered sugar. I don't even know if it will be too stiff tomorrow when I pull it out of the fridge to work with it. Don't even know how I would fix it other than add more shortening!
Hi very informative video
Is there any substitute of egg white ?
Legends say he’s still kneading
Hi should i keep it always in the refrigerator or after one hour i can place it in a small containair like the fondant
can i use this recipe for production of flowers and deliver to cake shops?
This is excellent, I wonder why I, who bough a class on sugar flowers by this man, didn't receive any kind of notice this video was up for free!
Hi nicholas if i was to use powdered egg whites how would i have to do this would i just make it up as it says on the pack then weigh 125g? Many thanks, cheryl

Can I substitute the Tylose powder with gum tragacanth?
akankshanor yhup
Can CMC be used in absence of tylose
Thanks for the video, may I ask how long the gum paste will store for? Should it be kept in the fridge or cupboard longer term?
Try freezer-safe plastic bags, and keep it in the freezer. Then let it thaw and knead as usual. It should keep for a very long time!
I use your recipe a lot Thankyou
Which kitchen aid series is the pink one?
gracias
nice tutorial...what to use if you don't have this tylose thingy...and a corn syrup neither...? tnx!
No, you must have tylose or CMC for your gumpaste to be successful.
Can pasteurized egg white be used instead of fresh egg whites?
Could you do this without egg whites and maybe use meringue powder ?
What is the vegetable shortening
Is tylos same to CMC?
I made the recipe exactly and my gum paste is very soft as sticky. What cal I do to make it harder? Can I fix?
hello. can i use coconut oil instead of shortening?
+agazworek yes but start with half as much because its melting point is lower.
I know this video is old but I just discover it and need help!! My gum paste came sticky and not stretchy enough. When I thin flower petal it does not stretch, just ripping. Very sticky, need to add a lot of starch. Any advice? Thank you
Thank you for this tutorial .Shortening is not available in my country can I replace it with vegetable oil please???
hafedha nouas maybe coconut oil, maybe
Hi. Is there any differences between CMC and Tylose? Can I use CMC instead of Tylose? What is Gum Tex? Thanks in advance.
Tylose is the brand name for the product containing carboxyl methyl cellulose (CMC).
Is gum paste used only for roses?
How much egg white powder do i use instead of fresh egg whites?
Can rehydrated egg white powder be used? The best you tube tutorials have authors who answer viewers questions. Thank you for the video anyway.
It isn't his channel. This was posted by Craftsy so I don't think he has even come across the comments.
Hi there your videos are not playing they are saying error, please can u advise? Many thanks cheryl
You sound so lovely.
Hello! I'm from the philippines. May i ask if its ok to use handmixer since thats the only mixer that i have. I love watching you videos but i feel so sorry for myself since i dont have stand mixer. Thank you for sharing your videos. I hope you could answer my problem. Thanks.
You could use the hand mixer but use the twirled hook or dough hook
Pls is it eating sugar or icing sugar
please is tylose powder the same with CMC powder?
Yes, it is the same thing. This CMC (Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose) or Tylose powder by is a man-made gum used as a flower glue or a hardening agent which when added to fondant, creates a quick version of gumpaste/modelling paste. Refrence:bakingpleasures.com.au/p7016/cmc-tylose
Is it icing sugar instead of powdered sugar
Hi Sir.. your recipe came out really well.. but it doesn't get dry very easily sometimes in rainy season it melts..
Pls give me a good suggestion
Hi, How long can we keep the gum paste please? How long can the flowers made up using this recipe be safe to eat?
They don't recommend that you eat gum paste flowers.
Hi... Is there anything that we can use as an alternative for tylose powder that we can find in Mumbai.India.
+Deepa Joseph When I don't have tylose powder, I use 220g confectioners sugar, 30 ml water, 1/2 tsp unflavored gelatine, 1/2 tsp of corn syrup. Good luck!
Can i half the measurements for a smaller amount as im just trialing flower making atm and wont need all that much.
can i made this without tylos powder?
No, the tylose powder makes such a drastic change to the consistency of the mixture.
Salve, vorrei sapere se il cmc può essere sostituito con il tylose...grazie
Si. Il Tylos e' CMC.
Can I use icing sugar don't have powdered sugar where I live.
Icing sugar is powdered sugar
I always used fondant on covering my cakes but I have a big problem. when I get my cake covered with fondant from the fridge, just a few minutes it has a moist texture it doesn't dry at all.
once yu cover your cake with fondant, dont put it in the fridge
put in a box very closed so the humidity dont wet the fondant
can i use cmc powder instead of thylose powder
It's the same
Followed this recipe exactly. Used hardly any of the extra icing sugar/confectioners sugar at the end as my mixture was so firm and I could barely knead it before it became hard and crumbly. I worked quickly to prevent it drying out. Now after just over 24hrs it is too brittle and crumbly. After adding lots of water to try and bring it back to a pliable dough to work with, it is now rubbery and completely useless to work with, especially for making flowers as once rolled out it stays flat even after shaping and cupping petals.
Please, have I done something wrong? Should I try working it into normal fondant and hope it resembles gumpaste? Should I just start again? Any help or advice from anyone would be extremely grateful.
mine did exactly the same as your it came up so hard to work with, maybe too much tylose powder
Victoria Crook your tylos is very strong try adding a little less probably 25gm
Lol
I made the recipe exactly and my gum paste is very soft as sticky. What cal I do to make it harder?
which won't crack right away : fondant of gum paste???
Where can u buys tylose powder?
If I can't find it in the party supply store or cake decoration store, then I order mine online on amazon.
I have bought it at Michaels Craft store and at Walmart online. About $8.
125 grams of egg whites,
725 grams of powder sugar, after mixed for 2 min, gumpaste, than 30 grams of tylose powder after all mixed add 100 grams of powder sugar, take out and use, than 4 tsp vegetable shortening, mix with my hands.
This gum paste is only for flowers or it's also good for 3d modelling?
Either!
I think it would dry and start cracking while you were modelling so maybe add fondant to it to increase drying time
Hi.....can i use that gumpaste on covering a cake?
Better to use fondant, since gumpaste dries firm and it would be hard to cut!
Jade Polendey No!
Hi, could you tell me if this gum past is edible or is it too hard when gets dry
Is it possible to use meringue powder ( in this case what is the quantity?) Thank you very much
The ‘Ask an Expert’ section is currently for paid members of our online community. You can submit your question via email to craftsy@program-director.net.
Can I use marshmallow instead of tylos
Marshmallows are used to make fondant, tylose powder gives the gumpaste it's stretch a pliability.
how long can I keep gum paste when you making it from scratch.
Keeps for about six months.
can this gumpaste be used for sculpting figurines (such as babies, bears, mermaids, shells ect...) to be placed on fondant covered cakes? if so how long in advance can I make flowers and figures before they go bad?
Yes you can use it. You can make in advance and after drying it you can store in air tight container and use accordingly. :)
If you have to make a large quantity of gumpaste flowers, for instance, you cant put them in a sealed container and store them in the refrigerator or freezer...indefinitely :) The will retain there shape, and since it's not recommended to eat them, you aren't worrying about the taste.
What is power sugar? Is it icing sugar or caster sugar.
+Maxine Linley powdered sugar or confectioner's sugar is icing sugar to our friends to the north or across the pond! :)
Is tylose better than gelatine?
Gelatine and tylose are two different things.
How long can we keep this fridge???
6 months
I have tried to make your gumpaste, but found it like rubber , what did I do wrong Thanks
How long does this last?
Six months in the fridge and longer in the freezer.
Can I add Vanilla extract for taste?
The flowers aren't meant to be eaten so not sure why you would want to add vanilla.
Eva Johnson you can
They recommend that you don't eat gumpaste, it's made out of edible ingredients because your flowers are brushing up against a cake that will be eaten.
Can someone convert these to cups and spoons for me? Please!
Gene Ony, try Ggogle!
Can you get tylose powder at a grocery store?
Usually from a craft store or cake decorating supply store.
Is Gum past mix edible, plzz?
It is edible, but doesn't taste like fondant
I have a problem with my fondant. when i get my fondant cake out from the fridge, just a few minutes it has moist texture and it doesn't dry at all. What should I do????
you shouldn't put fondant cakes in the fridge. Fondant can't stand drastic change of temperature. It somehow the fondant sweats, i would powder the fondant with cornstarch. Constarch will dy them in no time
Jade Polendey, you can put sugarpaste/fondant covered cakes in the fridge. I have been doing it forever esp because I live in the tropics.
When you take the cake out of the fridge, don't touch it, lthe condensate will dry off. You can also put a cool fan on it but no heat.
alternatively put the cake in its covered box and seal it totally with clingwrap. Put whole thing in fridge. When ready take out of fridge and bring to temp in wrapped box.
When I take my fondant covered cakes out of the fridge, I cover them with a large pot or bowl. Let them rest for about an hour or so and you won't have a problem with condensation :) Condensation kills!
If 'm using egg powder, how much do i have to add n how much water? And once we take out of refrigerator n use it do we put the balance fondant again in the fridge?
Should always be kept in the fridge.
How many eggs is that?
About 4.
why does in need to be stored 24 hrs before use?
Need to firm up to a moldable texture
You say to add egg whites but then when the written recipe comes on screen it says pasteurized eggs whites ? can you please tell me the difference as I dying to try this recipe
Pasturized egg whites are generally the ones that are sold pre-separated in the milk like carton as opposed to cracking and separating eggs yourself. They should be labelled pasteurized. Pasteurization is a a heating process that slows food spoilage and helps stop food born illness like salmonella, which common with eggs (and why they say don't eat raw eggs!). Because the gumpaste needs to be foodsafe and in contact with the outside of a cake, it's best to use the pasteurized eggs because there will be less of a chance of contamination. Hope that helps!
Pllllz pllllllz plllllllz if I didn't have talose how can I replace it ...plzzzzz
Hello, you can use CMC, hope this help
It's about $8 US...Order online through Walmart or Michaels Craft stores
Oh that's too much of tylose powder! Tylose powder makes your fondant firm and hard to work with. You can try adding just a little at a time until you reach the desired firmness.
Hi could i half the measurements as im just learning to make flowers with this and wont need all that much. Im asking you as you sound like you know what your doing, i will only add a little at a time of that tylose powder like you suggested.
