      Thank you so much for sharing that. Some people complain that my videos are too long and too detailed. I would rather be detailed and try to anticipate your questions. I realize that many are new to the plant exclusive lifestyle and may even be new to cooking. I appreciate your positive feedback. It motivates us to keep doing what we are doing. You two inspired me to start batch salads this year. Since I try to avoid all plastic, I bought Stainless steel containers. They’re pricey, but hopefully a lot less toxic and more durable than plastic, while still being fairly lightweight.

      @@NutmegNotebook Hi, Tami (& Tom!) and @L Bromo ! Tried a couple times to reply to your message, but I guess YT blocks comments with links and quotation marks?
      Anyway, the eBay listing is no longer available for the large-ish stainless steel containers I purchased for my 14-day salad prep earlier this year. The closest item I was able to find on eBay are: Stainless Steel Lunch Box 47oz (again, I am unable to post a direct link.) The lids of these containers just sit atop instead of provide an airtight seal, but they’ve actually worked well for my batch-prepped salads, potatoes, kabochas and such. However, my containers did not have the removable divider nor the graphic on the lid, but they also cost less than 1/3 of the price!
      Alternatively, there’s a company called U-konserve that has really nice stainless containers with silicone lids. I’ve found the smaller versions of these containers at Target, but it looks like they now have a larger 50-ounce size on their website at ukonserve dot com. My U-konserves are quite nice and good quality. The silicone lids are a bit fiddly to get on, but they do seem to provide a good seal when properly placed. In fact, the flexibility of the lids on my containers will allow for some air to be pushed out for a quasi-vacuum seal. I’m not sure the lid can hold such a seal indefinitely, but a quick inversion test with some water revealed my container seemed leak-proof.
      In comparison to glass, these containers are similarly inert, but their weight and durability are more comparable to that of plastic containers, which is a HUGE plus. One drawback however, is that they are metal and of course cannot be microwaved. Another downside would be the cost: they are so much more expensive than plastic or even glass containers. U-konserve does have sales on occasion, and maybe with your pull as a first-class WFPB influencer, Tami, you could get your audience a deal? 😁

    Thanks for sharing. What I do is I prep all my little vegetables in one container and then I chop my red onions, tomatoes, celery, and beans in a separate container and when I’m ready to eat, I combine. It’s almost like having a Salsa on top of the greens. I don’t wilt the greens by putting wet with the drygreens together. When I’m ready to eat I just combined everything and it’s so convenient. Happy healthy eating.🪴🥗🥒😋 I also purchased some salad savers to keep the moisture out,or all use paper towels and it seems to work out well.

And it’s so funny with the Arugula cuz I also shop from Whole Foods and I noticed it was missing before you did! I have been keeping simple with the hectic schedule of working from home with a toddler - so I usually just have a chopped spinach and arugula salad with beans and rice. I want the nutrients from other veggies too so I can’t wait to try this.

    I can’t believe Sage is ready to talk. Time flew by. I don’t know if you read a previous comment I left on a prior vlog where you prepared Bobs Red Mill oats for you and Sage. I wasn’t judging but didn’t know if you were aware that non organic oats are grown in Monsanto roundup and score very high in glyphosate. I know that it’s so difficult to trust which foods and brands do right by ppl. I was just concerned generally about your family. I’ve seen documentaries on the area Monsanto placed their headquarters in Puerto Rico. A short time after the ppl close to the area began getting cancer. After seeing that a few years ago I began only buying certified organic GF oats. I know it still contains pesticides but less harmful ones ( fingers crossed).

      Thanks for voicing your concerns and bringing consciousness to anyone wanting to protect long-term health. So often people don’t realize the very real dangers of non-organic pesticide laden foods. It’s sad… especially when we’re all working toward being healthier. Personally I’ve had chronic illness for 15 years because of a lack of awareness along these lines. Praying for wellness for all… 🙏🏽

      The home grated carrots are too wet and they cause the greens to get mushy - I’ve tried it. You’d have to keep them separate and add them daily. Broccoli slaw is made from the broccoli stems and I wouldn’t have enough of them to shred. What I’m doing right now is what works for me with my busy schedule. We are all on our own journeys and I try not to judge others and they’re choices. I share what I’m doing to try and help others successfully navigate their plant exclusive lifestyle. I’m not perfect and there is room for improvement but this is where I am right now and it works for me. One day I might be where you are in your journey. Thank you for sharing. Oh no! I just ordered the 12 inch thinking that there is no way that I can eat a lb of salad at a time.... at least not now. Now I am worried that it is not going to be large enough. My house is 711 Sq feet so you can imagine that my kitchen retail space is small!

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  3 роки тому +1

      No worries. You can just chop a smaller amount in it at a time. Maybe it will be just the right size for you given your sq footage and that you don’t see yourself eating 1 pound salads at a time! 🥗 it will be a beautiful bowl that can hold fresh fruit when you are not chopping in it. Enjoy!

    I won't be doing this. I think all of those pre-cut veggies, while vital for your process because they are dry, are all given one of their "washes" in a preservative bath to keep them safe through the distribution/retailing/home storage time.

    • @michelea2326
      @michelea2326 2 роки тому +5

      You know, you don't have to use precut/prewashed veggies. You can use regular veggies and cut it up yourself and still have the same results. Nothing she's doing is mandatory, it's supposed to be inspirational.

      @Cheryl Hoech - yes, I often can taste that preservative & also a moldy taste in those pre-cut veggies. Gotta do the shredding & cutting myself.
