NIN and Trent Reznor documentary I put together from various interviews, music videos and live footage.
It includes Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, With Teeth, Year Zero, The Slip and Hesitation Marks eras.
As a person that deals With depression and suicide thoughts, and has attempted to take his own life, it's quite inspiring see one of my idols being so honest about what he was going Through. Knowing that he was able to overcome that, makes me realize that i, too, can With it.
Thank You so much, Trent.
And Thank You, TG, For making this beutiful video.
Same... Peace
Same here brother... I am recovering addict as well and its ironic or just awesome that he appears to be my only idol who got clean outta everyone.
Downward spiral is a musical masterpiece. can't believe that album came out in 94.
Time is timeless, my friend. Never judge anything by how old it is, especially art. And NIN is certainly as artistic as it gets.
@@dddux Why my like is your first ever like for this comment, I don't know. That was some deep and true fucking shit, man.
Indeed. Right up there next to The Wall in albums that take me to my dark place.
Best album ever created by mankind imo
The best art exists outside of time.
reznor basically said "You, as my fans, are paying too much for my music."
the most genuine and cool thing Ive ever seen from a musician
It echoes a sentiment people like Henry Rollins share. In his case, specifically, he says "I'd rather be heard, than paid"
Too bad he doesn’t own a petroleum company
I guess I'm pretty off topic but does anybody know a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@@ishaandane3445 I'm probably a little late but themoviebay.net and c1ne.co are pretty good but i recommend using a good adblocker like uBlock Origin
Really well put together. I think it's fitting that the documentary focuses more on Trent's mindset, rather than actually documenting the evolution of the band. Very 'Nine Inch Nails'-esque :)
Up until a couple years ago Nine Inch Nails is just Trent. The band is just for touring and recording.
I couldn't imagine a world without NIN.
nothing better then hearing the truth from the words of the creator.
M e dethman I love mad magazine
M.e have you ever read mad magazine issue where the deer were out hunting human and hanging up on a rack ?
I'm a long time NIN fan who's listened to less and less NIN over the years. This was a good reminder as to why I love him so much. I used to wait til my parents were out and blast the AATCHB live DVD on their good sound system, those were the days. I was at that live show where he said steal away and steal some more, what an awesome moment that was. Enjoy the beer, sir.
NIN is in my top 3 favorite of all time. But there are months, maybe even years where I don't listen to them. You have to be in a certain place emotionally to listen to them, often when I'm down or depressed. But there are times when life is good, and I'm happy and I just want to hear some NIN. They will always be on my phone/ipod/computer, and I'll always find a time to listen to them.
@@stevew.7188 very well said
And All That Could Have Been is the best live recording I've ever heard. It's perfect.
"Subconsciously things just start to come out. They're from the same place in my head, but my head changes, so the sounds change." @7:25
I've been a NIN fan since I was in junior high, when I was first introduced to Trent's music. I can honestly say today that NIN is still #1 in my book and I love anything he puts out. I'm a HUGE fan and love everything, ranging from NIN material, HTDA, movie scores, side projects, etc. I want to thank you for putting this together. I thought I had heard every interview with Trent in existence, but I heard so much new material in this. The way you put it together is amazing. I never knew "La Mer" and "I'm Looking Forward To Joining You, Finally" were written with that mindset and it almost made me tear up, since I love both of those songs. My mindset will be completely different from now on when I heard them and I appreciate them that much more, seeing what Trent's life was during that time. I knew it was rough, but I didn't know it was at that level. Now I know why he mentioned during a live show that "The Fragile" was probably the saddest album he recorded. Thank you so much for this!!
18:32 listen to the entire part. Trent predicted the future man. This applies to life in 2020. Crazy
He said about 15 years... So things are supposed to get worse in 2. I'm just dripping in anticipation.
So crazy!
Dude! I always say his ARG for year zero is how things are now. Shit is scary.
@@googlekrishna7025 trent talked about God, I thought he didn't believe.
@@oooshouch2266 oh I feel ya. I mean I sort of relate. I’m starting to believe after years of dismissive anger towards a “God.” I will say tho. I’m spooked by the arg I mentioned. It takes place in 2022 (year zero) where the government drugged the water to prevent another bioterrorists attack. I’m half remembering the plot but Trent is a genius. That arg was prophetic
Dude this is great. Hopefully new people who discover his music find this and further understand. His music means so much to some people. Thanks for putting this out there.
one of the best ARTISTS of all time (the point of art is to make you feel/ think/do /change something) and the music is so relatable in many contexts
and you're cute!
wow bill murray. im a fan. Oh and thanks. thats my girlfriend
bill murray Thank you :)
DougZilla Doubt that's Bill Murray, And sorry im married and not to you, and don't need/want/have any boyfriends on the side either........ :p

HERE LIES
DUGGALO
HE TRIED...
As a fellow human being that struggles with Attention Deficit Disorder, I'd bet my last penny on Trent having it along with possibly OCD. I feel for him as I know how hard it can be dealing with it and just trying to concentrate can become a lifelong battle with those of us that do have it and have either not been diagnosed and or been misdiagnosed. I'm just happy he takes the time to produce some of the best music of his generation.
Only 5 minutes and I want to thank you for doing this already... great job.
yes i know rights
That was an amazing documentary. It's hard to not feel inspired listening to Trent during interviews. I loved the transition through the years and ending on La Mer was a real class touch.
The ultimate rock star. It’s not about selling out and making the best selling single. It’s about putting on paper and the record the best possible song he can. I don’t see many artists that make it with that philosophy anymore. He’s so inspiring in so many ways. I hope he realizes all the people he has helped through his music and just his life in general.
I just saw NIN at fyf and I think it changed the trajectory of my life.
I can't read your name but you are very right
Beautiful artist like Trent Renznor make us realize in life you can't have the light without the dark. Trent exposing himself to his peers (world for that matter) makes us more human and understanding of each other. That we all suffer and heal going through life, but we don't do it a lone. That there is someone out their understands my deepest feelings and that I am not alone..... that is what Trent's music is to me.
Hesitation Marks played live changed my life and my view of Trent Reznor. The best live show I've ever seen.
15:00 Trent loses his last tiny shred of available vocal chords toward screaming.
Thank you for making this documentary, really well made, NIN is my favorite band, I never get tired of listen NIN, you sir deserve a 24 pack of beers.
It’s just clips of other people’s content. It’s not ‘really well made’.
me either dude
He is an amazing musician and artist.
21:15 ..... he said steal his own music..... This is why i love Trent Reznor.
Dude if he had a bootleg copy of his own shit and passed it out, I'd die
Thank you for the amazing doc.I have always followed NIN and Trent and have been amazed at the growth through out the years. I am almost 33 and everytime I listen to NIN or Trent it makes me feel like a teen again, and like I have a connection with someone that gets it!!! Thanks for all the great music Trent!!!
I’m 21 and I just started listening to NIN I relate to so much of this music, I grew up listen to really only rap music but NIN just hits different, it feels so unique and satisfying
That you are very unique you have a great future ahead of you
Angel Duran thank you! I really appreciate that! I hope the best for you too !
When he talks about the depth of hesitation marks around 28 mins. he mentions how he hopes we hear new things a year on, with different headphones etc. hes right, i still notice little things every so often, one of my NIN favourites for sure, its still in rotation for me to this day.
I gave Hesitation Mark's a listen when it came out, but I did not devour it like I had previous albums, however, I am coming back to it now and giving it another go
@@charity1868 hesitation marks was a sleeper for many people, and I get it, but I think it hit me harder... sooner.
A very well put together video, all the feels and cuts were executed nicely and the message is loud and clear. Well done!
Trent Reznor = the god of music.
really!!! no one dude!!!
As much as i like NiN and Trent as a person, This is far from the truth. Trust me.... he would say the same.
Yep
I agree with teeth is prob one of my fave albums ever
I don't like every song that Trent Reznor does but I love way more of his stuff than any other band in the history of music. I absolutely agree that anybody listening to his music should listen to each song at least three times before you decide you don't really like it. The weird thing is it took three months for me to wanna go back and listen to a bunch of the not so well known tracks on Downward Spiral.
Wow truly inspiring! Thanks for creating this, that last part almost had me in tears...have even more respect for Trent now.
This was great, would buy you a beer if I weren't broke as fuck , but thank you for your time creating and uploading
@Eric Heidenthal: A man who has a fuck is never broke. ;)
@@dddux what if I already gave 2 fucks?
As I NIN/ Trent Reznor fan, I want to say to you, a big THANK YOU!!! for have maked and shared this amazing and touching video/documentary...Really great work!!!
~ChildFury *.*
bro, you made something really really awesome!! to all of the fans that we know what reznor had to suffer and live, this is an excelent selection of his words to resume that... thank u a lot, i really enjoyed this... cheers from buenos aires, argentina!
The greatest thing about Trent's records are Every song is different but somehow fits perfectly
I have never heard someone talk as frankly as Trent without coming off as arrogant. It's neat watching him explain his process. It's like he knows how to chanel this stuff into a great album.. And he is aware of that. Not to be a dick, but to make sure he puts out good music. Very admirable. For how long I've been a fan I've seen very little interview stuff like this.
He’s been through a lot but still consistently put out great music. We can thank David Bowie for helping him clean up and mature. 3 decades later he’s still producing quality stuff. A real musical genius. Great videos here, thanks.
Yep
Why am I just seeing this now? Nice Job putting this together. Couldn't stop watching.
nin has been a big influence throughout my life.thank you trent for getting me through a a lot of hard times.
10/10 man
Shows Trent through all the ups and downs and gives you a feel for his life and music and him as a person
Fantastic work.. you did a great job capturing the phases Trent went through to be the man he is today, An icon that helped many of us feel we aren't alone in this world. Thank you for putting this together
Also would like to note that after looking through the comments this has to be the only thread on the internet that has people being honest, showing genuine appreciation and respect for both the artist and editor. This is what (I would assume) people originally hoped for when creating youtube and forums. I love NIN and the people that love them. (I hope I didn't jinx you)
Trent has always intrigued me for some reason and I never really knew why. His music resonates well with my own thoughts, which inspires me to maybe speak my thoughts out loud, or they'll just drive me insane the longer they remain suppressed.
This is a great compilation! I bought my first synth in 1981, and music is still my obsession. Few artists have changed attitudes towards electronic music as much as Trent has. Kraftwerk did. DePeche Mode did too. But NIN...I can't describe how I've related to the music over the years. It covers the same pains I've experienced (or wanted to possibly), and conjures up those same fears even when I re-listen today. Almost like a long-forgotten but familiar scent can send me back sometimes. And he is so spot on on so many topics in his interviews it's insane. His honesty is refreshing.
How did you know that that`s what I was waiting for. W*O*W !!!!!!!
A respectful thank you for this `little` documentation.
(in 2007) "It feels like the world is about to self destruct"
9 years later, it is.
Yet, here you are and everything is still, well, chugging along. Guess what? In 9 more years? Same.
Shit will continue to self destruct.
Less a documentary and more a string of previously done interviews..which is fine, just call it what it is. Trent rocks
Trent is just...my biggest inspiration in life. What an outstanding artist
Thank goodness Trent wasn't concerned with what others thought, because where his head was exactly where he needed to be...and it was all very beautiful and amazing on my side listening to it all. It was apparently a learning experience for him. Beautiful. Love Trent...always have & love where he's gone & has been going. Still amazes me every time
The part where Trent says that he might've subcounsciously stolen a great song he made (29:00) really spoke to me. As someone who's been trying to write songs and get into album crafting for the past couple of years, it's been a recurring thought I just recently openly spoke about with my significant other. I of course cannot compare myself to an actual artist like Trent, who on top of that has pressure from record labels, fans and artist partners to put out new material, but I'm glad I'm not alone in those artistic worries.
He's simply a big inspiration for me in many ways, like he's for many others too.
I've been almost absentmindedly repeating this video over and over as I've been creating art in my sketchbook. I just... always felt the need to keep starting it over to fully comprehend everything he was saying. Between focusing on my own art/creation and his; it's hard to find the middle place. I feel I'll keep repeating this for all time before I can find that balance. His voice does calm me and bring energy to my own work.
Trent Reznor. An absolute gift to me. In many ways. I’m forever thankful for his introduction into my life with “Pretty Hate Machine” Since then, after thinking about it, it seems Nine Inch Nails has been a pretty big part of my life since then. Not just as a regular rotation in my cd changer or songs in my playlists but like backround music to life at times. Not that his music follows me, but it’s been an effortless and interesting ride, so to speak, to follow the career of one of the worlds most valuable songwriters to ever exist. Nothing held back. From rage to sadness, pointing out some of what’s really wretched and disgusting as well as promoting self awareness and the ability to exist and rise above whatever is keeping an individual in their cage. Kind of. Anyway, much love. I too got goose bumps watching this.
I've loved NIN the majority of my life. Coming to love them through my older sister who introduced it to me. I've never seen NIN in concert but it is a life goal of mine. I've always known the music was so deeply intimate and personal to Trent which I think is why it resonates the way that it does. In a lot of ways he has been like an enigma to me because I've experienced him only through albums but this documentary was so amazing to see, it's as if I've known him all along, because I have. His music is his soul and my soul recognizes it. I go through phases where I listen to him heavily and periods of my life i don't listen at all but the music is always there and it is just as resonating today as yesterday. Thank you Trent for your creations, for your sacrifices and for sharing the depths of yourself to the world. We see you and we feel you.
"if there was a magic way where you paid a bill every month and could listen to all the music you want... But that will never happen."
Well, look where we are.
He was a pioneer of music streaming tbh he didn't take as much credit as is due for it. He worked on beats and apple music as the CCO
its interesting how a long of great songs come out sadness and depression during the youth years, there is also a lot of great songs from other artists that came out of happiness
+Danny S Emotions are energy and that is canalized into music which is energy as well.
i like your documentary on NIN its dope ive been a huge fan for a long ass time and this is really good great job
Unbelievably excellent documentary. Expertly executed, thank you so much for making it and sharing it with us. Much hugs and love from one wretched NINer to another. 💙
This was absolutely beautiful. I went through a range of emotions while watching this. Learned more about Trent and NIN and hope to learn more. I love and admire his music and work so much and this really helped me appreciate it more.
I cant say enough how much I fucking respect this guy as a creative individual...he's an artist and better than that he's always humble and continues to hone his craft. He respects the creative process utterly.
It's fan-made?? Wow. Amazing job, Mr. Tomas Guitar. Fucking amazing
Sometimes I sit and consider what body part/s that I might be willing to lose to be able to see them in the 90's. Just incase some entity with great power could bend the rules of space and time, but required some piece of human flesh. I just want to be prepared, is what I'm saying.
Now u have me thinking I should be prepared for.that situation too..great thanks buddy
Really well done. Thanks for putting this together. Very nice homage to a man and band that has had a great deal of influence.
A NIN Christmas special..
How horrifying weird but interesting at the same time.
I am on board..
I was like, wow, after waiting for all this time and really liking a lot of songs off this album, here I am struggling to stay upright and screaming back at you-but where are you?
Good job on putting this documentary together. Has a lot of footage i have never seen, even though i seeked out a lot of Trent Reznor and NIN interviews here. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
Awesome! I thought this was made by a studio until I read the credits! great work!! Love how it ends
24:55 He predicted Spotify
You MADE THIS?! You did a great job! Much appreciated. :-)
I can only say this: Trent can Craft a Feeling, Music is the language of Feeling & his work is evolving,... Always!
Great job putting this together, I really enjoyed watching it! Thanks
This is an amazing documentary, thanks for this!
This was very well put together thank you !
That's why i always love Trent treznor because i understand him so well and i will love him till the end of life i stared listen to his music when i was 14 years old and still listen to his music and am 36 years old now... and yes i saw him live in my state of Texas
21:19 - oh my god!
This is the first time I've heard any music artist actually say something of this sort.
I thought I loved NIN before...now that love is so much more!
Wouldn’t have known otherwise that this was a fan made project. Fucking great job
Awesome Documentary...Anyone who had the privilege of seening them live in 94-95 cheers!
April 2000 chicago was my first..barely out of jr high.. it was still a privilege I'll always cherish..by far the greatest gift to music
this is honestly so well put i didn't think it was fan made, damn, good job man!
Been a fan of Nine Inch Nails since Broken came out, still a fan decades later.
Very well put together. Great editing. Feels like an organic documentary that would be put out by the band.
Really enjoyed this. Well done. Was looking for something official to watch, like a 'behind the music' doc or similar, but couldnt find a concise video detailing Reznor's journey. But this hit the spot so thank u 😉😊.
Also im open to suggestions if anyone knows of a full, kinda chronological doc on Reznor or NIN?
25:00
I chuckled. Love you Trent!
If you saw him now for the first time the way he’s composed and speaks and his clean cut haircut you wouldn’t know the crazy life he had in the 90s
Excellent job! I've been a massive fan of Trent's since high school in the early 90's and really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.
The Fragile is my favorite album
Trent Reznor is a musical genius!
Wanted to say thank your for making this! While I've seen all of this content and more, it was put together really well and told a good portion of the story from Trent through the years.
Been a fan of NIN since Closer came out...Triple J (in Australia) thrashed it and I ran out and bought Downward Spiral. Own every NIN CD but decades later, Downward Spiral's still my most played. NIN and Reznor are timeless🤘🏻. Only thing Reznor did that I loathe is date Courtney Love (Starfuckers Inc is about her..epic song). Everything else is a masterpiece👌🏻. His music's not as heavy now he's off the smack but I'm grateful to not lose another idol to the shit
good shit man!, i like how you edited the different interviewes
One of the true great American song writers. Downward spiral and the fragile r the two most important albums of my youth
This is greatly put together! Some interview were even new to me. Thanks!
Excellent work! Trent has been a HUNONGOUS inspiration for me. Enjoyed this.
Thanks for all your efforts in making this documentary. _Cheers_
nice! well done m8! we need all the footage and bits and pieces we can get of our talented artists for the future fan's old fans too, to analyse and build a bigger picture of the time the person(s) spent creating back drops to our lives as well ;-)
Thank you! Awesome documentary about one of my favorite people.
thank you so much for putting this together.
what a well-adjusted, pleasant young man
Great edit!
