You are an amazing artist. with no fear to go for it. Really inspiring. Thanks a lot Sir.🙋🏽♂
Great montage, but watching this instead of the original series doesn't convey how much of a rollercoaster this build was. I remember thinking "man, he ruined it" every time you added some detail only to be completely amazed at how stunning it turned out (and I'm one of those who suggested a green finish too). Great job Ben!
Thank you Federico, this guitar was actually very very mentally draining.. the first time I've actually considered just calling it a day on for years! I do love it though when all is said and done.. thank you for watching :)
Incredibly satisfying! You and twoodfrd are my two looping hands-on-the-instrument yt channels not only for craftsmanship but your personae, as well. Appreciate your work, dude.
I found your channel in the last couple of months, and I've practically run through all of your videos. Not only are you an extremely talented luthier, you make extremely entertaining content. I would do many things to get a bass from you.. maybe one day!
How did I miss this beauty? I've been sick for the last year or so. Spent more time in the hospital than at home. This guitar is so beautiful. I hope I can find all the videos as you went along and watch each part of the build.
my friend u had so many chances to screw this up but it is actually one of the sweetest looking and definitely one of the most detailed guitars ive ever seen. wonderful things u are doing
I watched each episode of the Shred series as soon as it came out. For some reason I thought this particular build was uniquely fascinating, and I couldn't wait to see the next episode. Lovely to see this complete build video.
Thank you Spaggy Marbles, this was a hard build and one that changed a LOT during the process but I love it now. the angled sides in particular are something that need to be on another build soon, so comfortable and cool looking imo
I like this kind of video. Quick "my 2 cents" : the build series are great, you explain the thought process for designing the guitar in detail, you explain the build details, the problems you run into, etc, and that's awesome. But *since you DO explain all the things* , it drags the actual building out a lot, so, a "recap" video with all of the discussion/rambling/chicken cameos cut out is really good to have. Not instead of, on top of the actual build series. Like now. So yeah keep it up :)
Thank you MJ, this is exactly how I think about it.. 2 separate 'products' from the same build. we're working on the technique/process of making the super-edits but there will be a LOT more of them going forward. Thanks for watching :)
btw. have you entered the raffle? this guitar could be yours! “I am telling myself to stop messing with it…” Good Sir you are to be commended for many things if not the amount of moments like these at 6.50min. This is outstanding craftsmanship, ASTOUNDING craftsmanship!! This is why UA-cam is still good 👌
Ok, so… I’ve been watching a long list of builds online… This quite frankly might be the first one I’ve seen that dropped my jaw. Phenomenally brilliant idea’s & attention to detail. This is also the only build I’ve seen where someone scalloped a fretboard like me lol. However, I love the added color. Fantastic job!
It was nice to see the Shred build again with all the innovative ideas it incorporated. And loads of chisel use as well- I could watch you chiselling for hours!
I watched the whole series, but this was a great refresher on how AWESOME this guitar is. The scratches on the sides and back are so special, as well as the color and copper leaf on the front of course.
the videos on this channel have given me a renewed appreciation for so many things: woodworking, the craftsmanship that goes into instruments and even (as silly as it sounds) just lines. And that guitar right there is a piece of artwork in more ways than one.
This build started off as an almost undefined project for a metal guitar and grew over several corrections to an outstanding guitar where all elements beautifully tie together. Not pure metal but rather a piece of art! I think this is your best build so far! Just phenomenal!😍👌🏼👏🏼💪🏼
I really admire how much you use hand tools! A ton of build channels use so much equipment when manufacturing a guitar that it’s almost like mass producing
thank you Simon. I see why they do it, and hell.. I will also be playing with laser cutters etc soon.. but, in general I would rather use tools that almost anyone can find and learn to use with ease
I followed your old video on copper leafing, and it gave me the confidence to have a go at doing my kitchen backsplashes with it. Worked very well and gave a lovely lustred finish. Thank you!
Fabulously fascinating Ben. Luv it. Superb editing, detailing etc. If you are passionate & truly enjoy your days, you never actually go to work because its another play day, enjoy !! Superb.
Every time you glue a neck, I wonder how you know its lined up perfectly over the pickup cavities. As a current amateur craftsman, and aspiring luthier I cant seem to get that part perfect yet. You make it look very easy which is encouraging. Amazing craftsmanship and artistry. I appreciate your styles. People ask me when I start a project, "what will it look like when youre done?". I say, "I'm not entirely sure yet. It will tell me as I go along." I enjoy seeing other artists listen to their creation as well. Thank you for another great video.
For this particular build, this was a kit from Crimson, so a CNC machine cut the neck pocket and matching neck. I'm always astounded watching Ben make a neck from a piece of square stock in a half-hour. THAT seems like real magic to me :)
Ben's hardware design's are become my favourite parts of his builds. There's such a vacuum of blandness with modern guitar hardware, that I think Crimson should put their own into production! One of my favourite builds 👌
Anyone that wants to understand why custom guitars cost what they do should be made to watch this video. If they still don't understand afterward, I don't know what to tell them. This is a lifetime of experience and skill distilled into less than 20 minutes. I'm honestly surprised you didn't make the pickups, too XD (or did you. You did say "ta da!" when showing them) Amazing guitar!
I hadn't seen a build video of yours in a while...this is a whole new level of madness...seriously, an astonishing level of beauty and craftsmanship. There seems to be no limit to what is possible. I have suggestions for a crazy unique build...
I play drums, not guitar, but I cannot tell you how much I love that guitar. I want it, I need it, I would learn to play guitar simply to justify owning it.
I used to religiously watch your videos couple years ago and stumbled across this one. Every new idea on this guitar made me cringe, then you executed said idea and turned me into a believer. You are truly a mad creative genius , most impressive my good sir 👏

Just bought me and my stepdad a hat for Father’s Day
Contour shaped brass pickup surrounds would look awesome to match the contour fret cutouts

I wouldn't even play that thing... Out of respect! Truly incredible craftsmanship

The mad scientist/artist strikes again! Amazing work!

:) Thank you, I am a fan of Woodford's too, he is a great repair person and inspired me to do more work of that ilk.
Check out Rosa string works too, a different approach, to beautiful instruments
Checkout driftwood guitars.
I'd like to add, Unquendor Guitars to the list of cool UA-cam builders to check out. He makes really high end beautiful guitars.

That’s is the most artistic and favorite guitar ever. Reminds me of the one off luxury cars. So many body lines and cutouts. Love it, bro! Keep going!

Using a fountain pen to paint a guitar. Damn I expect led nothing less. I love how resourceful you can be while keeping your creativity. So inspiring.
WHEN THE GENIUS MEETS MADNESS, THEY RIDE THE MACHINE OF WISDOM AND MASTERPIECES COME OUT
if they are lucky and everything works out, but thank you :)
That stain job was INSANE! So awesome
thank you, it was a bit of a slog but I am happy with how she came out.

the amount of work in this piece is insane
the bridge.. and the foil thing.... awesome.. did not expected.
That...that is the most attractive guitar I have EVER seen. Hands down. What I wouldn't give to own that...
I would love to make you a version..
When I can afford one you will be the first to know! 😃
Your innovative guitar builds are vital to the progress of guitar building.
thank you. Ben
the acoustic jack. splendid . I always use them
Next stop is to put the pots next to the jack on the edge.
Cool idea
it is a great idea for push/push pots
Such a gifted builder! Thanks for sharing.
Ok, so… I’ve been watching a long list of builds online…

That is truly an innovatively RADICAL axe, Mr. Crimson...kudos!
had that been headless, i might just have been the most beautiful guitar i've ever seen! please Ben, make it happen and i'll throw you my order STAT!
Drop us am email and I will build it for you.. fixed bridge or trem?
Ben, I can't imagine you NOT grinning at the end of every single working day. The work you produce is just wonderful. It really is. Thanks very much.
You're the best, thank you.. and yes, most days are good days when you get to play with builds like this! Thanks for watching!
Hiiii
Those short, precise hands movements, while cutting wood shows me a deepest and tight strength luthier experience and knowledge. Bravo!
Thak you. Appreciate that.
Probably my fave guitar of all time. Love it!!!
That was a bit of a roller coaster to watch .
I gotta say it. You are a perfectionist. And it's GREAT!!! Love your creativity.
A re-run! I truly hope there is another video today, had hopes and wishes for exciting and new
Love this design... the materials, the shape, fretboard, custom bridge and super creative paint/leaf schema.
it was a close run thing at several points, but I am very happy with how this one turned out, thanks for watching!
It was nice to see the Shred build again with all the innovative ideas it incorporated. And loads of chisel use as well- I could watch you chiselling for hours!
lol, I'll try and get more chiselling in the next build.. ah, wait a second.. the next build is a 'Hand Tool Only Build'!! bring on the chisels :)
@@CrimsonCustomGuitars Marvellous!
beautiful shape for a multi scale guitar, for a 5 or 6 strings bass, will be mind blowing
I would love to turn this into a bass!
I think this kit will be my 2023 build! Absolutely beautiful can't wait to let my imagination lose on my own.
A masterpiece of craftsmanship! The bridge blew my mind when I realized you were fabricating it by hand. Respect! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Whoa!!! You work super fast!!!!! Awesome, luv it. 👍 I'v done many a leaf jobs on motorcycles, cars, etc.

A cool idea for your headstock would be to get your logo or the word crimson done in crimson acrylic and epoxy them into a headstock cutout.
I love the overly complicated insanity you subject yourself to. Awesome work, custom bridge and unique finish choices.
The sound is impeccable. Love the look also.
As soon as you added the stain, I went nooooo……ohhhhh yes ….as it evolved.
The sound is amazing.
