    To start, you need to show the shawl that you are making. Why would we watch a tutorial if we don’t even know what we’re making? It is a backwards approach.

      No one had a completed shawl when these came out and every single person making a tutorial on this at that time was doing it, for free, as a favor to The Yarn Hag. You can go to her channel and search the stitch and see her finished shawl.
      Please do feel free to start a youtube channel, for free, and create tutorials , for free, and then enjoy the random comments from ungrateful people that roll in 3 years later, for free. The fact you took the time and energy to type out a complaint for something you weren't even asked to use says so very much about you. Try touching some grass.

      Hi Ryan I'm wondering if at the end of The rows are we to do the half double crochet through both Loops or are we supposed to do the half double crochet in the third loop at the end of every row because Sabrina's says to use the third Loop and this video says to put it through the both loops

      Kim's Crochet&Knits I originally did it through whichever loop was in the rotation to be done. Some of the testers said it was just easier to go through both. It doesn’t make hardly a difference in the appearance so it really is just a preference thing on what is more comfortable for you. I am OVER THE MOON HAPPY that people are liking it and playing with it and trying it out. Pleasantly surprised, times 1k 😊

    Hi i know this was some time ago but how many unforgettable balls of yarn (or yards if you like) did it take for you personally to have a good sized triangle shawl? I have 2 balls of one preferred colorway and 4 balls of another colorway, i was hoping i could use the 2, since i like that colorway better, but im not sure it will be enough. Thank you for the demonstration and showing the pretty striping with the unforgettable yarn.

      Hi there. This is Monique, just using my personal account at the moment. I didn't finish the shawl so I can't answer. I suspect it would have taken 3-4 for a really large one but a smaller one you could use as an accessorie around the neck, etc. I think you could do 2. I realized partway into the project that as much as I enjoyed the stitch and how it looked, I really can't stand single stitch projects. I get really bored and lose interest. It was a learning experience in what I did and didn't enjoy when crocheting. Hope that helps!

    Hello sorry to bother you but I started this shawl and was wondering how many rows I need to do before I start to decrease? I need step by step directions for things i make.i can't seem to figure out things for myself when it comes to crocheting an item. Thank you so much for this great video. Please take care

    • @MoniquesMakes
      @MoniquesMakes  3 роки тому

      No bother. There is no set number of rows but I understand you feel you need a little more structure so the best I can suggest is using half of the amt of yarn you have set aside to do this and use it for increasing. When that is gone and you have half of the yarn left I'd start decreasing. It's all about your personal preference for how wide you want it to be at the widest point. I'm sorry I can't be more specific but hope that is somewhat helpful

    • @MoniquesMakes
      @MoniquesMakes  4 роки тому

      It all depends on what size you want it to end up being. If you wanted a big old shawl to really wrap up in it could take quite a bit but if you wanted a smaller one to use almost like a scarf, then it wouldnt take nearly as much. I anticipate using 3 skeins of unforgettable for mine and seeing where I am at that point.

      Hi Sondra. It is alot of yarn but I like really large shawls if I'm goign to make one so I wouldn't imagine people would NEED to use that much yarn. It's really just about how big YOU want it to be which is why I wanted to be sure to say in the tutorial that there is no set yarn amt required because everyone may use a different weight yarn and some people, like me, like really large shawls and other like smaller ones. If you like the look of it I'd just choose a yarn, set aside a couple skeins and try it. If you don't like it you can always frog it.

      Hi Kim. When I filmed this tutorial, Ryan hadnt yet comenup with the decrease version yet so there will be a follow up tutorial later this week for how to do the decreases. 🙂

    Great tutorial the only thingnim confused on is the half double crochet at each end ..Sabrinas tutorial states to put the half double crochet in the third loop at the end of the row and yours says to make a normal half double crochet at the ends of the rows?

    • @MoniquesMakes
      @MoniquesMakes  4 роки тому +1

      Sabrina has 2 different options for how to do it. Originally Ryan has it going in the 3rd loop but after feedback from testers she and I agreed I would do the tutorial with the last HDC as a standard HDC. Ryan is always flexible so I'm sure she was fine with it either way but since I found it to be easier and to provide a more consistent edge with a standard HDC that is what I chose to 'teach'. I'm sure you can do it either way that suits you.

    what if you want to make a blanket and not a shawl?

    • @MoniquesMakes
      @MoniquesMakes  4 роки тому +1

      I think Ryan would love that and you would just start out with a chain as wide as you want your blanket to be. You would do only 1 HDC in the first stitch as you wouldn't want to increase. Every row would be the same as row 3 but without that increase HDC.

      And the edges are 'strange'? That's the pattern

      ua-cam.com/video/e2DF76qD4-s/v-deo.html My cats claimed mine before I finished it so I didn't but up a pic of a finished shawl as I wasn't done when Ryan needed the tutorial ready. I'm sure you understand. That said I have linked Ryan's video where she shows her completed shawl(s). You can also type in Hag stitch or Hag Shawl into UA-cam and find lots of examples of things people made with the stitch.

      @@darcy2965 As in you are making one and your edges are strange or are you commenting on my edges? If you don't start and end each row with a standard hdc then your edges will indeed look strange. I'm quite sure you didn't mean to sound unkind and rude about a FREE pattern someone in the community created to share with people or the FREE tutorials provided by multiple creators to help people who weren't able to figure it out from Ryan's verbal description so I will assume your posts just sound petulant and aren't intended to be so but if you did mean to come off this way then I encourage you to search on UA-cam for Hag Stitch or Hag Shawl for alternative tutorials you may find more suited to you.
