Their grass is all torn up because they make the drivers slide the tandems at the shack. But if they didn't, about 1/2 the drivers wouldn't slide them back.

My partner and I are in the process of training right now for CDL-A. We are outside of Seward Ne right up the road from CRETE! When we grow up (after 1st year,) we would love to be with CRETE. Always slid my tandems when I opened the trailer doors. Sometimes security would complain but it's easy shutting them down, just ask how much driving experience driving they have. Then tell them to leave the driving to the professionals.

We saw the original weight distribution at the scale but we didn't see the 2nd scale readings that Kevin got after adjusting the tandems. I would like to have seen the steer axle weight after the adjustment.
Did he slide one hole or two? Was the fuel tanks full when he scaled?

You are only allowed to wash the truck, on the company, once every 45 days? I think we were once every 30, and I couldn’t stand that. (My fathers’ influence). I would spend out of my pocket if it wasn’t 30 days yet. I couldn’t stand a dirty vehicle.
I drove for a O/O attached to a mega-carrier. He was happy to get a guy who could drive a manual and took care of his truck.
We would meet from time to time at a shipper. He always smiled when he saw his original truck, and I was taking care of it.
If it hadn’t been for the fleet manager/dispatcher, I’d probably still be working for him.
It’s nice to have a clean and beautiful looking truck. That’s a fact! Bet the guy was definitely very happy with you!

Stability. If not slid back, the forklift will cause the trailer to bounce a lot more.

I think Chocolate 🍫 releases the same Hormones that your body releases when you feel happy .. so chocolate physically makes you feel better 😂 that’s why so many people love chocolate ❤ I looked it up to make sure .. it releases an Amino acid that helps your brain make Serotonin .. that’s what’s releasing in your body when you’re happy 😂
Just a thought for a future video, can you explain how you adjust tandems? It seems to best distribute weight but as a non-trucker, I was just curious.
It moves the center of gravity on the trailer, thus putting more weight on the rear tandem trailer axel or more weight on the tractor drive axel.
@@Christopher-mx4je I somewhat get the concept, just would like to see the mechanical execution
And the reason they have you slide the tandems to the rear is so that when loading, there is no 'up and down' when the fork lift goes in and out of the trailer. These trailers have airs suspension and when the axle is slid forward, there is quite the overhang behind them, hence the bouncing.

When you slide the back wheels how do you get in the spot you want them to be at?😊
good question , if its a super tight place u might have to slide em back to front to get in spot then slide to back again, ive done that a time or 2
I’ve done that a time or two also. One time a trailer jockey stopped and watched what I was doing. After I slide the tandems back and bumped the dock, he gave me a thumbs up and continued about his way.
ALways use a white-out marker to mark the hole you originally started at before sliding tandems or 5th wheel.
@@SirAlford or just call however many holes from the front and remember that number for example yesterday I had a load that was three holes back when I weighed it I was 460 over on the tandems so I knew to slide it two more holes so three and two is five so that means I needed it to be on the fifth hole I got 20 years education I went to 10th grade twice
I use sidewalk chalk, it's cheap. I mark where I started and where I want my pins.
