Hey Kevin, thanks for all the info you've provided on crete. It is because of your videos that I applied. I'll be finishing orientation in TN here tomorrow or Friday and then I'm heading out. I used your referral code, so you should get some thanks coming your way soon. Hope to see you out on the road!
Awwwww…Thank you Christian!!! We REALLY appreciate that!!!! We hope you have a really good experience with Crete! It’s still trucking, so things aren’t perfect, but we are very happy with our decision and Kevin us making much better miles and money than he did with Werner. With less stress! Which company are you coming from? We are glad our videos helped you! We hope to meet you so we can say Thank You in person!! Best of Luck! Let us know how it goes. Drive safe! Have fun!
@@TheJoyofTrucking oh yes I am well aware of the usual "joys" of trucking lol. But regardless of that I think I'll have a good time here. I'm actually coming over from running local for the last almost 10 years. Only ever had 1 other OTR job. I worked for ABF Freight for almost 8 years. But now it's back on the road!
@@christianmiles7165 Awesome!!! You’ll definitely get to see the country. And you can ask to go to certain places too. We love it!!! Paid to travel. :-))) Hope our paths will cross!!
Just a tip from a former driver trainer. Don’t get complacent on that left mirror or looking back when backing. The truck had 6 mirrors use all of them when backing. If you weren’ in the passenger seat it looked like he would have hit that trailer.
Thanks Bonnie!!!! That means a lot! But no regrets! You must have one of the special trucks by now? And they are treating you well. And much better terminals, that’s for sure 😉
I knew I recognized where I am…I am spending the night at the Pilot next to the Drop yard you guys used when you had to drop off your loaded trailer. Now I feel like our paths have recently crossed twice, here and in CT at the secret TA 😀
When I drove for Crete Carrier I did the same thing with that Schaefer driver was doing I was pulling brand new trailers out of Wabash at Lafayette Indiana. I was taking them to the Indianapolis yard. You guys be safe out there
There is a waffle house in Lebanon MO where next to that is a open lot and everytime we drive by are full of tractor trailers and how they get out is beyond me. Very tight quarters
Hey Tonya, could you please show the drivers mirror when he backs up... that is where the action is, not the fender mirror ... thank you. I enjoyed watching the video today!
@@ramblingbill9101 thank you. Wow, last time I remember one of the Maverick drivers saying they get called out if their trucks go past two weeks. But it appears most, if not all, of their facilities have their own truck washes. And when the drivers park their trucks there for reset, they come back and majority of the time their trucks are washed for them.
We’ve never come back to a cleaned truck. Even when Werner replaced the fender and spiffed up our KW they didn’t wash the tractor. Shiny new fender and dusty rest of the truck. Kevin would wash the KW on his own time at the wash bays. But Crete doesn’t have any (?). At least not where we’ve been. 😉😣🤔
I'm considering going to truck driving school with RoadMaster Drivers School at Omaha, NE. They say they offer 3 companies to be recruited with: Werner and two others. They tell me that if I sign with Werner they will pay for my tuition as long as I continue to drive for them. I've also red that entry level drivers with Werner only clear about $40,000. per year. Can you tell me a little more about what questions I should ask and anything else I should ask about? I am starting new at age 65. I hope that isn't aa red flag for me. Thanks in advance, Gerry Voie, Omaha, NE
Hey there!! Be sure to check out our playlists and early videos. You’ll find a lot of info to start you off. Kevin paid $4000 to Phoenix Truck Driving Institute so he wasn’t beholden to anyone and paid no interest. He received $225 monthly reimbursement from Werner. (Though it was taxed as income which we don’t think is right). Roadmaster is more expensive and you’ll probably learn more. So you need to decide what works best for you. We’ve heard of drivers who leave before they’ve‘put in the required time’ and offset the money owed with a sign on bonus. But we don’t know the small print. Be sure you do! Kevin started at 59. We don’t think 65 is a red flag for anyone if that’s what you meant. Kevin likes the less strenuous work and we know a lot of drivers who are ‘wiser’ and enjoying this career.
Kevin made about 55,000 his year with Werner. Tough to tell you what to ask. It’s hard comparing companies because of all the different ways they pay. Despite the issues we are very satisfied with Werner as a place to start! Good luck! Let us know what you decide!
Hello! Thanks for subscribing!! And welcome to our community!! As far as we know Crete trucks do not come with Sirius radio. What is needed to ‘activate’? We had a social Sirius device we bought to have Sirius on the RV.
@@TheJoyofTrucking Thanks for your response. The SiriusXM logo would appear directly on the radio faceplate itself (usually upper right corner) Also, by changing the mode selection button (FM/AM)
