I have one comment on pretrip.Make sure you check for brake lines rubbing together at your rear brake chambers.Over the course of 30 plus years trucking I was wrote up twice for lines rubbing.I checked some other trucks in our fleet and we had brand new trucks coming in with brake lines rubbing,Just my thought of the day.
One thing I do when hooking up to a trailer, I like to get under it with my airbags drained, then fill them and ensure the trailer's resting nicely on the 5th wheel before proceeding into the kingpin. By doing that, it keeps more grease on your 5th wheel and less contributions to the grease globs on the front of the trailer
That top bunk should has a mattress that can be lifted up and leaned against the back wall letting you put your stuff directly on the plywood. And that front board keeps stuff from sliding off. Also in other videos I suggested putting a Dometic CFX-95 or 75 DZ(dual zone) up there. 95 liters of food storage. Just remove the top mattress and the hi boy can go up there on the driver side.
I'm really enjoying all of your videos. Recently viewed your trip to Kimberly Clark in KY. I'm an old man now and a former trucker but I still work in the Owensboro area. That trip was very familiar as well as interesting. If I was a young man, I'd be looking to drive for Crete. Keep up the good work.
Yes I would love to see drone footage. I love your videos and how much you both love each other and how you interact with the audience. You both are amazing!😊
Tanya and Kevin you guys are the best thanks for sharing your experience and so all the trucking families who share theirs God bless all have a safe drive .
I believe Tanya uses an iPhone for making these videos and I heard her mention that her phone is 'full' of video so she was using Kevin's phone for this video. The iPhone 15 Pro series phones allow you to record directly to an external drive now. Might wanna check it out if you two are die-hard iPhone users.
Awesome seeing you all again. In high hopes meeting you on the road someday, or at Crete terminal to shake your hands. Keep up positive attitudes even in challenging events.
Just say that what a lovely couple you are ❤ Both of you have hit the jackpot havng eachother 😊 Also, the wife here is doing really great with her filming and talking, super great ! Also, I'm glad that my trucking days are over and have been since 1995. Gosh, all the computers now nd enternet services it would drive me crazy 😂 Back in my days we only used the paper logbooks. Life and everything have changed and those good old days are gone. Bless, all the truckers it's not a easy job and most people don't appreciate truck drivers. God bless you all !
What kind of engine pre-trip was that? One checks it without and with running engine to make sure nothing is pressure leaking and you move your steering column rod to see if the connections work fine and everything is connected properly. Check radiator and good dampers, too as well as watching all hoses and AC limes not leaking whole rinning the engine for few minutes. Also check the front brakes if cotter pins are still in tact. One always checks if there is a king pin lock on the trailer if that is common practice for some drivers in your company. Usually there is kind of little band or rope hanging down from these locks so it should be visible nefore you try to hook. If you hook too hard it might can damage parts of your fifth wheel.
The last top level inspection I had I passed ! I said Oh Boy I get a Gold Star ! One of those yellow stickers that show you passed and they roll you right through the next time !! He said you aren't right ! But he was laughing ! We were done !!
enjoying watching hard driving , backing and about otr life. I drove class b trucks (mixers, dump and roll off) in the 80 and 90's. I am 58 and thought when I retire at my job at 60 would like to truck again. I have since changed my mind after seeing how stressful it is. Could never be on the road for over a few days, to much to take care of at home. keep posting
If you hit the stupid king pin lock a few times with the truck, they usually fall off. Then leave it on the ground as a message to the jerk who put it on.
Kevin, you could tell the shop personnel there in Deland about the king pin lock. They have master keys to remove those or the Enforcer locks on the back of trailers as well. I too work for Crete and run dedicated out of Mankato. You guys stay safe and we'll see you down the road.
Huge fan of Merrell shoes. I have 7 pair. They were recommended by my attorney after I suffered a major back injury at work. He was right on as far as comfort and support. I even have a few pair of the socks and sole liners. Pleased with all of it.
Hey you two, get a hotel room. Love that movie. Lol. Wait, we didn't get any road footage for the Fl to Ca trip? Ok, maybe on the next one. Roll that beautiful bean footage. 😂
Welcome back to the road! I’ve been out for two months but I’m on my way home now! Just a double-drop load bound for the Miami area between me and a hot shower, fresh meal, and all my toys!!! Haha. Thanks for the video and have a good and safe trip out. AWESOME to hear Daytona’s getting a Costco, oh my goodness that’s got me excited haha
I like it when customers notify Crete when the load is ready. A lot of time loads are ready early, and you can get rolling. Frustrating when you are waiting to pickup time and you see the load was ready yesterday.
❤ I’d love to see drone video! You’re very good at being an eyewitness to seeing America thru the windshield so why would we doubt your ability in the sky? Can’t wait.
I'm not a truck driver but have watched many videos about it and I knew there was something up when Kevin tried hooking up to that other trailer with the lock 😮. Happy trucking .Guess you've been off for a bit ? Hadn't seen any videos..
While the 2024 Kenworth T680 looks great on the outside the inside is seriously lacking in functionality. There is very little storage space in this truck unless you put the top bunk down and use that for storage. There are a total of 4 cabinets. One closet behind the drivers seat, 2 very small ones( I have seen bigger glove boxes) over each seat and a drawer under the refrigerator which sits right under the closet(in my opinion it should be behind the passenger where they put shelving that is pretty much useless.. It is not easy to get to and goes way back so you have to empty it to get anything that is in the back. There is a space for a microwave behind the passenger seat. Under that is a space for a T.V. Beneath is 3 shelves. These shelves are worthless for most items as they are open. They come with a bar across the bottom to keep your items from falling out, however, the bar is about two inches high and the gap is about six inches. Going over bumps causes your items to come flying out. The glove box holds the manual and very little else. Each seat has a tiny cubby that will hold sunglasses, and maybe one or two small items. Across the top front of the cab is an open shelf. It will hold anything less than 4 inches high, and two inches wide. Again, going over bumps can cause items to go flying. The passenger door has a cup holder. That is it. Drivers side seat has nothing. So, nowhere to store gloves, gauges, zip ties ext. except under the bunk. Which can only be accessed from the outside. For one person this might be livable, for two not so much. Would I buy this truck again, no. I like my truck to be functional in every capacity. If Kenworth would use an actual over the road driver to design the inside I might change my mind. Until then it’s a firm no..
Thanks for your detailed comment! We agree that storage is not ideal. Our Freightliner Cascadia had way more storage AND a pull out table!!! But…we find the ride to be waaaaaaay smoother, so we would pick a KW over many other brands every time. Though we would be happy to try out a Peterbilt which Kevin had for only one week at Werner and loved. But Crete doesn’t have Peterbilt and we do love KW’s…despite the aforementioned shortcomings. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
My favorite trucking vlog! Good to see you again. How are you guys doing with the down-turn in freight right now? I was looking into starting OTR as a second career, but with the looming great recession I'm having doubts about getting a CDL. Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe out there!
I haven't found one with a kingpin lock but crete is becoming more common for locking up the glad hands either to save the mt for another driver whos dispatched on a load a few days out or the shop locks em all up to do the T-1 inspections or ones their getting ready to sell seen 20+ trailers in Kansas city all of em were locked up. Also not sure if you're aware but crete no longer allows B services to be done at the truck stop supposably they sent out a message about a month ago but I don't recall ever seeing it and my asset manager wasn't aware of it either. Then again the new tablet and driver messaging on the crete app doesn't always sync up ive gotten messages on my app that never got to my truck and vise versa. I have a leaf blower its not always the best thing to use i still use my broom if the trailer is extremely messy.
Rat holing MTs by locking them or taking the BOLs away from the trailer is terrible form and does a disservice to the rest of the team. You are gentleman.

I agree. Rdcently they are checking for rubbing lines nation wide. Make sure there are enough spacers between the lines under the trailer.
