Last week or so I have been using this method as an alternative from a 220 volt stovetop. I think I can save a bit of money each month. The set up I have a slightly different though.
I enjoyed your video, except for the background music. I would rather hear the birds chirping and the food sizzling! Nice review of the cooking kit and good to see real food being prepared.
I like his channel. Very informative and shows us great views of country side where he goes. BGM choice are also great too. I have nothing against his channel so far. I really enjoy his channel.
When you want to heat up a cold burner, you can drip a small amount of fuel into that little "moat" around the outside of the ring of jets. Light that as well as the fuel in the middle. Various ways to drip it. Simplest is to dip a twig in the unlit burner then drip a few spots of fuel from the twig into the moat.
Good day to you. I am a senior rider on HONDA Cross Cub from Japan. Enjoying touring ,camping and video uploading. This is so nice camp gear Trangia video
Good Video Paul, the small hole is for the multi fuel adapter, as for the meths add 10% water to the meths, It will stop the pots going black underneath, it does work. I have 2 25's, a mini trangia and a gas adapter. I love them.
i have a 25 and a 27 and use them all of the time, sometimes i cook full meals on the 27 with all of the pots and pans but i also take the 27 with me on dayhikes and hikes where i only need boiling water and strip it down to just the windscreens, the burner and the kettle. stripped down it doesn't weigh very much more than a trangia 28 and works fantastic in high winds with no additional windscreens. my favorite thing about the trangia 25 and 27 is that when you are using it, the pots and pans are always securely held in place and won't slide off or blow away easily. you can stir a pot with one hand and it won't slide off the stove.
I thought I remembered this video 🙂. I loved it when I saw it the first time around. I think that is what I'll cook up for dinner tonight. It's been awhile since I served it up. I make it at home in my rice cooker by adding some brown gravy to make the rice cooker like steaming it better. Glad I ran across it again! Have a fine weekend 🤗.
Been looking at this kit for some time niw that I've watched your hands on review I'm no longer considering I'm convinced its the one for me thank you for a great video
Another great video featuring the wonders of the Trangia cooking set. I, too, love the T27, can't be beat. Your lunch looked fabulous, nice recipe - meatballs always a winner. Gee, sure glad I found your channel. We have similar tastes in food 👍♥️
Cheers for all the vids - just ordered my 27 cook set....can't wait ! Thanks for explaining everything ... it's priceless to be honest 👍 All the best.....
Thank you, Sir, your video just made my mind up for me. I've been jumping back and forth from a jetboil to pathfinder stoves to a new msr whisperlite, none of them can compare to the versatility of this cook set.
Excellent video - brilliantly done and really appreciate that you cooked an actual meal rather than just boiling water - it looked delicious! I subbed your channel too - Cheers! - Luther
One thing I really appreciate about my Trangia 25 is how quiet it is. I sometimes will use a Pocket Rocket .. with gas cannister for a really fast cup of hot water. It's a tad faster for just that...but the noise is imho quite irritating... and far less stable than the Trangia. Also the pocket rocket is very poor in the wind. All around... Trangia is the winner for me.
For me the best Trangia are the Storm Cooker 27-21 UL/D with Gas Burner, I have the Kettle 27 Small, 0.6 L and ditch the small pan, so one large pan and a kettle. I ditched the spirit burner many years ago, it takes much too long time to cook and uses too much spirit, so gas cooks much faster and uses not much gas, so it is a much more light weight solution with the gas burner ! Highly recommended.
Hello Paul, thank you for the video, I was wondering how the Trangia system worked, I liked the way you explained the smallest details, because they are all important. I was also thinking about the handle scratching the pans, it would be interesting to know if the rubber grommet versions are better? The video would have been even better without any music, just the sound of the birds and your voice. Thank you again!
Thanks Ruby. I have learn't my lesson with the music! I am glad you liked the video and have an understanding of the system now. I used to and still do sometimes wrap the handle with a small cloth.
The pot grip will fit on top of the kettle. Handle end near the spout. I find that I can get the burner a small bottle of detergent and a cut down cleaning pad in the kettle. You should also be able to get a microbites utensil set parallel to the pot gripper.
I enjoyed your video, thankyou. It was very relaxing :) I'm vegetarian but I appreciated you taking your time to cook and I'm happy to see you enjoying yourself. I've just ordered my Trangia 27-UL and can't wait to use it. You gave very helpful information about the cooker - cheers!
Thanks for a great video. At first I got the mini, now I added the 27 and the billy pot. Now I can go minimum, bigger and even bigger, depending of my trip. I can also combine the mini with inside one bowl of the 27 etc. The combinations are endless.
I have the same kit. I discovered the .6L kettle fits perfectly in a Pathfinder 64 Bushpot (line up the spouts) and you can change up the cook kit. Cheers.
Loved your review, Paul. This piece of kit and your amazing recipe is definitely on my bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing. You come highly rated by Kent Survival.
Thanks for watching Felicia, Your welcome. I have watched a lot of videos for the purpose of understanding a product more, so i know its important to explain things properly. I am glad it helped you.
Really enjoyed the video - not too keen on the music but anyway. I was thinking of getting one of these and you sold me. I love the fact that they are made in Sweden and not china. Everything else it seems is cheap chinese tack, even the not so cheap stuff!
I started with a 1980s Coleman white gas single burner. Too heavy but worked well. Waiting on a 27 HA. Should be able to cut the current mess kits and just use the trangia.
13:50 Funny to see swiss army knife at work. When I was young I never used it. It was "If nessesesery" in my pocket. 15:05 I find aluminum lid from old cookware which fit with trangia pot. Aluminum foil is good enough too.
The pot gripper fits, just need to get rid of the packaging. Don't worry about scratching the non stick, it's going to happen! Love the vids Paul. Keep them coming.
Great video very interesting. The perfect demonstration of the cooking system you have it going on Paul. I think you should think about making a cooking show or a series?. I would tune in on every episode. so as you Brits would say, Bloody good old man, Bloody damn good
Great watch.... I agree if you want a controllable cooking system then I think you would be very hard pushed to find a better system then the trangia... cheers Chris
I recommend putting the pot or kettle on as soon as you light it. It's just wasting fuel otherwise, plus the pot keeps the heat in and the burner blooms faster. I've never had one go out doing that.
@@PaulBissekerBushcraft can't speak for the triangle as ive never tried it. I like the idea of low weight, but its really expensive for what you get. I imagine you need to set up a windbreak ourdoors, but for hut camping it looks great.
Great vid. You could have drained the liquid into your other pot of meat and onions to make the sauce in. It still looked really tasty, and probably less messy, the way you did it. Thanks for the demo.
Have the brass burner - the “incendiary Swedish doorknob” and a 1 liter Trangia fuel bottle. Bought them last year, for “just in case” on a trip to L.A. (by request of an aged parent). Am thinking to get most of the full set, for the following: 1) Ebike “travel”. Due to age and health problems, I will probably need to stay in either hotels or “improved” campsites. (Electric power will be required) This will mostly be for backup, and/ or wanting a warm meal while “on the road.” 2) power outages at home. These are rare - one to three a year - but have lasted as long as 16 hours. I *have* wanted warmed meals then. I have very limited cooking skills, so a typical meal will involve “boiling rice and veggies.”
Have secured the Nonstick fryer, and just got the pan stand. Just need either the inner or outer duossal, opposite the one I have, the billy pot (washing up, mostly) and a bag like the one shown.
Thanks. Yes i know what you mean about the size. The 25 series is an excellent size for cooking a decent meal. Its a bit bulky in a small pack, I do love my 25 series tho!
Love this vid and this cook set. It can be dangerous. I had mine set up in an unstable table. The leg folded on me and luckily I was close by to keep it fe crashing to the ground and catching the forest on fire...but some fuel spilled out of the burner onto the metal table. No harm done but could have gone much worse. It hasn’t slowed me down I use it very often....almost daily in the winter...cooking lunch (soup) on cold days.
Hi Paul back in the day when I had my "Frankensteined" 27 ( started as plain alu then upgraded bits of it) before some little shit stole it, I used to place the gripper handle points up on top of the packed up stove and run the strap through it no rattling no scratching, just a thought 🍳

Excellent description of how the burner works with the liquid turning to gas as it's heated. Amazing little piece of kit.

Bryan Young you will love It! All the best happy cooking 😎
I like simple, elegant design and function and the Trangia is all that. I get excited every time I get it out.
I totally agree!
Loved this. I've ordered my Trangia. Can’t wait to 'play with it'. AND I’ve subscribed.
Thanks

Thanks
Loving the tune @ about 17 mins!! Ow and it looks great!!

Thank you very much Paul!
Great video Paul, thanks so much for explaining how the trangia works. as a newbie that was quite useful. great meal you made there. ATB, cheers!

Put a little fuel on rim for heating it up and lighting. It is a preheating rim for cold weather use.

Really enjoyed the video. Like to see real cooking on these. I did a cooked breakfast the other day in mine and it was bang on.
Yeah i agree, got to cook proper food!
a long tongs might help to put the heat regulator / sniffer on and off.
That looked fun!
The pot gripper fits, just need to get rid of the packaging. Don't worry about scratching the non stick, it's going to happen! Love the vids Paul. Keep them coming.

Thanks Mac
ohh shit ! don't panic ............ great review thanks for shaing
Great video and good cooking...Well done!!

Great video, thanks. Helped me make my mind up on getting a Trangia cookset
They are the best systems if you need a whole set.
Have the brass burner - the “incendiary Swedish doorknob” and a 1 liter Trangia fuel bottle. Bought them last year, for “just in case” on a trip to L.A. (by request of an aged parent).
Am thinking to get most of the full set, for the following:

I have very limited cooking skills, so a typical meal will involve “boiling rice and veggies.”
Its a lifetime cooking system
@@PaulBissekerBushcraft have gone much of the way toward getting a -27 set. Wondering about the “frying pan” - non-stick, hard anodized, or duossal?
Have secured the Nonstick fryer, and just got the pan stand. Just need either the inner or outer duossal, opposite the one I have, the billy pot (washing up, mostly) and a bag like the one shown.
Great review! Subscribed! Looking forward to more outdoor reviews.
Thank You :)
If you can get it I suggest Denatured Alcohol. Burns clean, no soot. Been using it for years in my Trangia 25.
Simple and easy cooking but very delicious 😋🍺
The supplied pot gripper damages the non-stick surface. Get a Primus or Alocs one with rubber grommets.
Love your videos 👍😂 keep them coming 👍😎✅🙏
