“I’m not broken, and I’m not alone,” is the definitive moment of the film for me. Full circle on Cyborg accepting himself for what he is and not seeing himself as a freak or monster who felt he was meant to be alone.
As a multiple amputee, I really felt Cyborg's line, "I'm not broken." It's only three words, but they can be so hard to say when you're watching pieces of 'you' being stripped away.
I pose this question, Look at cyborg from doom patrol, no where nearly as machine like as cyborg from JL, Is it better to find your individuality and accept it as it is, a terrible situation, made better by the hope of being able to help, or to find it with a team? (I think they both found it with a team, which is why I say) would it be better if he found his own peace of mind in a solo film? Or is the moment as good as it could ever be? Missed opportunity?
@@TheKyle666 I mean JL Cyborg was still masking his pain for the most part. Like it’s an incredibly human performance. Cyborg’s journey is one of recovery from an acceptance of disability and it’s a kind of perfect representation of it
After watching this movie, I completely understand why Ray Fisher was pissed with how the theatrical cut turned out. Dude got his potentially star making turn completely butchered.
I thought exactly the same, I have a friend who I have convinced to watch this who originally refused because his boy cyborg was done dirty, but I was like "no he gets an arc, he gets a story watch it"
The difference between the 2 versions of Justice League from Cyborgs perspective to me, is boiled down to this: Whedon: "I'm in the movie!" Snyder: "I AM the movie!"
@@Skull1Hunter pretty much. I remember Snyder kept saying that “Cyborg was the heart of the film” and I always figured that was just his way of saying he just had a larger role than what we initially saw. But no, he was totally right.
One of my favorite details is a firm indication for why this version of Steppenwolf works so much better than the Wheden version. When the innocent man tells Steppenwolf "Please! I have a family!" Joss's version of him says "Why does everybody keep telling me that?" which hammers home the idea that he's meant to be a heartless conquerer who doesn't care about anything beyond that and himself isn't anything beyond that. But in the Snyder cut he instead responds with "Then you have weakness." a simple line change that suggests that Steppenwolf understands what it's like to have a family and understands how much of a liability it is to be too attached. A simple line that implies history, and a lot of hard lessons Steppenwolf had to learn.
I think the Whedon version is, perhaps the better one. Nothing about him asking why everyone keeps telling him that says he doesn't necessarily understand. He could equally be saying it as a "That's nice, but that has nothing to do with the questions I'm asking you." In a way, it's characterizing in its own fashion, because it exhibits a certain degree of history. It very easily implies that he's interrogated so many people over the course of his existence that he doesn't see the point of why people bring up irrelevant facts to him, as if he's supposed to care about them more than the information he seeks. In a similar regard, he's not human, so what's to say that he would share that human trait of seeing family as important?
@@maniac7770 I'm sorry. You lost me at "the Whedon version is the better one." Nothing about the Whedon version of Justice League makes me want that version of the film over this one. Nothing.
@@maniac7770 I mean OPs comment agrees. The point is Steppenwolf's characterization is stronger in this film where as even though that line is kind of clever and witty, it just further makes Stepp an extremely boring bad guy with no discernable traits.
11:05 The best part about this is that Cyborg could have just read the audio info straight off the broken tape. He had to have scanned the entire casette to reconstitute it, so he would have had the audio info he could have just played back to himself. But he didn't. He wanted to hear, with his own ears, his father's words with his father's voice.
I just... really appreciate how the Justice League cares for each other. Like, they're genuine friends! Arthur asks after Victor's mental health, Batman accomodates Barry's need to eat a lot, Diana enquires about the safety of each member, Barry and Victor banter like the twenty-year-olds they are. They actually like each other!
I Phantom-Menaced myself with Josstice League, but even when I did like it, the League being a bunch of assholes to each other seriously bothered me even the first time I watched it.
The scene where Superman takes flight again as his fathers speak to him always gets me emotional. It's a beautiful culmination to his arc in these three films, capped off perfectly with Pa Kent saying, "You're ready, son. Fly." And then the Superman theme kicks in more triumphant than ever, and I cry every time.
@@tmac731 Really? Williams theme is iconic and stands the test of time. Zimmer's theme is great for this tone, but no superhero theme will match the sheer brilliance of the 70s supes theme.
Honestly the weird thing about Steppenwolf is that he’s never been my favourite DC Villain and while that still remains the case with ZSJL this is also the first time I’ve felt a more threatening presence from the character through the Re-Design compared to any other incarnation.
him not being defeated by his own fear helps the moment your main villain starts fearing the heroes is the moment he stops being a serious threat like even in ZSJL he is still impaled, launched 30 meters, and is decapitated but nowhere in that does he stop being a serious threat, he just stoped being a physical threat
There is weight behind ZS Steppenwolf, also a much better character, his armor literally had more personality than JW Steppenwolf so that helps greatly.
@@BakedSalmonela I’m not even talking JW’s design but just I’ve never been able to take the character of Steppenwolf seriously in general so this is the first time he’s had that presence of fear to him that I can take seriously
3:10 there's a real neat tiny implied moment during this sequence after Barry gets knocked down. Supes is about to use heat vision, and Barry instinctively throws his hand up in front of him the same way he does at 9:43 when he phases through the explosion, implying that he might have tried to protect himself the same way here as well, had the military not distracted Superman by shooting at him.
As a huge Marvel fan I'm so proud of this movie. This is The Justice League I knew they could be all this time, the one that dominated comics sales for decades I do not compare it to any Marvel movie but to the animated series: JLA and JLAU and it delivered
Another missed win: the trumpet heavy version of the MoS theme when Superman shows up in the climax. Feels like a combination of Zimmer and Williams’s themes. It helps evoke the feeling that Cavil has now become the Superman we all know and love. Much better then the half hazard use of Williams’s theme in the theatrical version.
My absolute favorite part of the movie was right before Cyborg’s “I’m not broken” moment when you finally see him as he really is in his minds eye. Before that, in his head he always looked the way he did before the crash, but he completely accepts himself and who he is in that moment
Something I noticed rewatching ZSJL is how much I appreciate Aquaman's character development with his interaction with each of the JL members. Stand-offish with Cyborg, dismissive of Batmans' plans and hope, weirded out by Flash, and uneasy with Wonder Woman. Then he becomes more trusting of Cyborg and his abilities, has more faith in Batman and his plans, more comfortable with Flash to put his life in his hands, and realises how alike he and Wonder Woman are. You really feel like this Aquaman is starting to find his place in the world with this team.
Yeah, you could tell the loner arc Into appreciating others more was well done. Almost similar to some of his other counter parts where he's not too fond of non ocean dwellers lol
I get that WB wanted a 2 hour movie, but I don’t get how they redid nearly the entire ending. Flash saving the universe by rewinding time is infinitely better than “Dostoevsky!”
Simple, the exisiting ending took too long and Whedon was told 2hours so even after cutting everything he could think of and more it was still too long, so if the succeed first time and you don't get all the Flash time reversal and re-do ending it saves a good 10minutes, then you have 30 seconds of saving some people after a minute setting them up earlier and you've saved 8 and a half minutes.
Because WB bosses wanted more end-of -the-year bonus. The shorter the runtime, the more vewing time a film gets per day. So Ideally, they'd get more money. Alas, that wasn't what happened because 2017 JL was such a Frankenstein's monster of a film.
@@kevinsmarts9953 except that was still a stupid decision take away him saving the entire world for just a scene of him saving the family in an area that nobody would even live in due to nuclear radiation that's still there it doesn't make sense at all
@@elishawilson5342 I didn't say it made sense in the film. If there had been enough time for them to think things through you wouldn't have that family in hth movie but Whedon was given the shortest deadline and told to make a 4 hour movie 2 hours long
I have to say, the fact that you totally skipped Silas' awe and pride at seeing HIS SON leading a group of superbeings into the lab is truly a disservice. That moment is so important. Victor went from "you made me a monster" to that? I wept. I won't lie.
Yeah because everyone has a IMAX theater at home.... Snyder is so backwards thinking it boggles the mind. Disney Plus just started adding IMAX enhanced movies for Marvel movies... and I don't have to sacrifice all the screen real estate on my 70 inch tv...
@Yash Srivastha to be fair isn't justice league suppose to came out before covid stuff? When we can still watch at theaters and Snyder probably wanted people to watch on theater?
@@dri4nr4dit37 That is true but most movies are shot in that aspect ratio and can still be formatted to appear on non-IMAX screens as well, look at the Josstice cut, which a lot of had already been filmed by Snyder. It just seems kinda silly to squash the aspect ratio down on a movie. In my opinion it feels a little self important, but that is from someone who isn't a Snyder Cut fan so take it with a grain of salt. Fans of the movie would disagree with me on that most likely.
If we're gonna talk about Re-Do's I think Reynolds really needs to give Green Lantern another shot. I feel like after all he's learned since then would make for a much better Green Lantern movie/universe, which I think we desperately need.
If I'm not mistaken Zack Snyder said he's interested in having Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan Green Lantern since he's already cast someone for John Stewart.
@Malarie-Susan Gold Which technically means that the real Ryan Reynolds is now dead, and the person that is pretending to be Ryan Reynolds, in "Deadpool 3," is an impostor.
It's wasn't filmed through zoom it was directed through zoom 😂 both Jared and Ben acted with professional equipment present 😂 but I get what you where saying just being a dick
BvS opens with a poem where Bruce says “what falls is fallen” as in a failure is resolute and permanent. People thought it was grim. But even in BvS & especially on ZSJL we see Bruce was wrong. Men are still good. We’re better together. Nobody is beyond redemption and a second chance. That’s a lesson we all need.
Snyder & Chris Terrio really did as good of a job of making the studio mandate of, "make Batman murder," as sensical as I would imagine in their predicament. I remember hating the theatrical of BVS for a variety of reasons, getting mad my dad got me the BluRay for Christmas 2016, but completely changing my opinion of the film watching the Ultimate Edition (read Correct Version lol).
The humans burying the box works on multiple levels, one, because there wasn't some big, grandiose monument to the box that just screamed "Look at me! I'm something important to just take!" and two, because the boxes were so important and so powerful, it would never cross Steppenwolf's mind that someone would just toss one into the dirt.
didn't see this movie but watched the Darkseid scenes and DANG! with Thanos, he was scary and intimidating but still had that human quality to him that you could relate to (to an extent). Darkseid is just pure evil and malice; an eldritch, god-like being that can't be reasoned with and Ray Porter did a great job! Props to the Snyder cut!
Don't let the 4 hours intimidate you. Just break it into 2 parts. It's a completely different movie than the first go around. It's a great movie, this version
@@naodamdetsyon6929 While I personally like villains with depth (IE: Batman's rogues gallery), I'm also not opposed to just villians who are evil for evil's sake as long as they're enjoyable (IE: Yzma, Jafar, Hades)
Seeing Cyborg's arc in this movie makes me feel a bit depressed since Ray Fisher's conflict with WB means we're not getting a Cyborg film any time soon.
@@sanjayVlogs491 They are not! Cyborg is basically a Technology God capable of accessing and controlling every machine in the world. Blue Beetle has a "live suit" that gives him control over different weapons. The scarab also allows him to do analysis base on the knowledge of that the scarab processes. The key difference is that Blue Beetle can't control any machine outside of his suit.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League was amazing, watching it made me feel like I did when I was a kid watching Justice League/JL Unlimited. Truly an epic masterpiece IMO they should bring back Zack Snyder for Justice League 2 and 3
@@guegaish i guess if I had to pick one the overuse of Diana’s theme y’know the one with the chorus but honestly this movie is so epic I can overlook that cause I enjoyed it that much
Let's get an HBO 8-episode Justice League series that runs through the events that led up to the nightmare scenario and its conclusion!!! That would be amazing!!
Welp, that's it, you finally convinced me to watch this thing. For as much as I respect Snyder as a man who has a vision that he genuinely believes in and is willing to go to extreme lengths to bring his movies to life the way he wants, I've just never been a fan of his vision. To me it always felt too grim dark and over dramatic for the wrong reasons. But goddammit, the fact that this movie even exists is one hell of an artistic achievement, and as a lifelong fan of DC and comics in general it just doesn't feel right to not even give it a chance
@Alexander Kerensky It’s not the darkness I had a problem with, it just always felt like darkness for the sake of darkness and nothing else. I dunno, maybe I should rewatch the other movies too, I might feel different now
Watching all of Snyder's DC movies leading up to the Snyder Cut in sequence pays off really well imo after watching the Snyder Cut. He started off by showing us broken or flawed individuals not people who have been perfect from day one which I find realistic, some haven't found their reason to be a hero or whether or not the world wants them to be(Superman), some are unwilling due to the pain of their past and are hostile/uninterested(Aquaman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman), some who need help and a supportive environment to grow(Flash) and someone who has been a hero long enough to see themself become the villain and lose hope in the good of humanity(Batman). Then finally, this group of people are forced to work together as the threat of Steppenwolf and The Unity forming would hurt the people they care about. After having saved the world together as one, they grow and mature as a character and slowly become closer to the heroes we know them to be. The end of the movie is very hopeful and uplifting which is so rewarding after seeing the struggles everyone went through in the previous movies.
@@zaphodbeeblebrox7893 I actually rewatched all the movies before watching the Snyder Cut but this time I set aside whatever existing images I had of the characters and saw them solely based on their actions and history as portrayed in the movies. I feel that keeping aside whatever bias we have of what these heroes should be before watching the DCEU helped me understand where these characters are coming from and sympathize with them and understand why the dark or grim setting makes sense, especially in a modern day societal setting. I think that as long as Zack Snyder continues to develop the heroes more and more through each movie to become the iconic heroes we know them as, then I don't have any issues with the grim or dark toned beginnings he has made so far.
DC keeps knocking it out of the damn park with their music. Man of Steel’s Flight, WW’s Theme, At The Speed of Force, and even Aquaman’s epic electro-synth orchestral score. I want this streak to continue
09:42 the first time I watched this, I didn't realize that Barry had phased through the unity wave, and that's why he was unaffected. Just a small detail I love.
You missed one. Cyborg saying, "Let's go get that son of a bitch," after they realize that Silas' sacrifice was a successful attempt to make the last mother box easy to track.
I think adding the Nightmare stuff is Snyder telling audiences "this is what I was going to do but couldn't". Every single thing done by DC will always be compared not to what we see in that scene, but to what we imagine it would have been like after watching the scene.
The one thing about Darkseid i love is his voice. I've heard many and all of them are great but Ray Porter's is just comic accurate in some way. Groveling, death, full of malice and hate and distaste for life. So. God. Damn. Good.
An idea that i always had and thought was cool, was that Superman's ship ITSELF could've become Brainiac. Not because of any hints or anything. I just think it would've worked pretty well. The ship's AI is so advanced it can predict the future and has some form of willpower. Brainiac was literally a Kryptonian computer in the animated series too
Brainiac has become a god. This could be a form of omnipotence. Superman has punched brainiac so hard other brainiac from the multiverse felt it and were knocked unconscious. It could be where this one was sensing the "vibrations" from other universes that have experienced that scenario
Not necessarily the AI on the Metropolis crashed Krypronian ship. I think Krypton had multiple AI. The AI in the crashed ship & the one Jor-El had in the beginning of MoS were different kind. There were Kryptonian explorers who reached other inhabited moons/planets, right? As seen in MoS when Zod tried to salvage the world engine. What if an AI in one of those abandoned Kryptonian explorer's ships later became Braniac? That'd be interesting.
@@P.Whitestrake what about the ai on the world forger? The tendrils attacking superman. It could be incapacitated from when superman destroyed it. Just waiting for lex or any of superman's villains to wake him up. In else worlds superman the dark side. Darkseid has brainiac. In one of the bombs he uses it has brainiacs symbol
Not my original thought but I love this: notice how it's the new, young heroes that save the day. Flash reverses time on the doomsday and Cyborg disables the Motherboxes from within. Bruce's goal was to put a team together, to inspire hope rather than fear and he succeeded. Damn I wish Cyborg could've had another go in the movies - he so deserves it.
Why couldn't he have just said that tho instead of being cryptic about it just say what happened. "On (date lois dies) lois will die and darkseid will enslave superman with anti life....don't let her die"....simple
@@PortlandSucksss Oh. That makes way more sense now. Yeah, anti-life would do that… I just got the “Batman fails to save Lois from Darkseid, so Superman joins Darkseid”. I think you can see why it was so illogical to me
@@aionicthunder superman doesn’t “join” darkseid. The anti life equation takes away hope and enslaves people; superman is the emblem of hope, but when his wife and his to be born son dies with her, he loses hope and succumbs to the anti life, something he wouldn’t succumb to generally.
@@maitreysingh425 Like I said, the information I got before this was incomplete and thus made no sense. Including the anti-life equation makes it far more reasonable. 6:07 I really wished they had a shot zooming in on the broken mech suit helmet, like the shots of Darth Vader's helmet in TFA. Just to signify how he's changed, and how his rage and hubris led him on that dark path.
I really love how ZSJL upgraded Cyborg's character by a huge margin. Ini JWJL, his character was bland and simple. He was my least favorite character in terms of writing. But here? Cyborg is my favorite character. His burden and character development really shined through.
I loved ZSJL, i had the same experience between BvS in the theatre, and then the ultimate cut at home. (A movie i gave a second chance, solely because of this channel and that episode, so thank you for that. Affleck is my Batman.) The extended version is superior in every way, and that is was given a disc release too? That we even got that is amazing, i figured it would only ever be available on streaming. This is four hours of time that was well spent.
6:40 The black suit mattered in the sense that Superman is embracing himself rather than being a symbol for others. Jonathan's new line "You need to show them who you are" along with Superman keeping the black suit after the fight seem to lend credence to this idea.
Martian Manhunter was always in the movie as Martha and that scene is unchanged. Just the final scene with Bruce and Martian Manhunter was supposed to be Bruce and Joh Stewart, played by Wayne T Carr.
I really do like that even though this movie is similar in tone to MOS and BVS, it feels a lot more uplifting. The heroic aspects of the characters are emphasized more, and the team feels like they really care about eachother. There were some great emotional moments, especially with Barry and Victor with their dads.
He didn't actually film it that way, anything on the top and bottom is framed to be taken out. He decided he liked it better, that was not the original intention. If you know about the filmmaking process you'll see stuff like excessive headroom and parts of the lens. DP definitely wasn't planning on it being shown this way, it was shot for 16:9.
Dude, I cried my eyes out when I watched this film. Snyder has ALWAYS understood Superman. And he transitioned that understanding to include the entire Justice League, yes Superman is the most conventionally powerful ( original 7)JL member in a fight, but Barry, whose a human, ended up saving the world. THATS respect. Man of Steels “flight” theme is my favorite superhero theme because I remember 2013, when the chips were down and people didn’t think a feature movie of Superman would ever work outside of Reeves’ era. And boom, Zack comes along and knocks it out of the park. When “flight” came on, it was the moment Superman flew again, riding high. And now test screenings of the Flash are giving me reports that Zod shoots down Superman’s ship? NO! Absolutely not. I will start a march on WB’s HQ and demand they undo such a fundamentally detrimental decision to the DCEU. The current DCEU is built on the back of Superman, and killing him or erasing him in ANY way, it isn’t DC anymore, I don’t know what that would be. The Justice League are the beacons of the DCEU and the Justice League needs you Superman (Henry Cavill).
As far as I know Ryan as Hal was never going to be a thing, but Zack did shoot a scene of an actor named Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart. He showed the scene to Warner and they said we actually have other plans for that character. So he did the Martian Manhunter instead
Not to be to much of a nerd but no, Batman doesn’t have a contingency plan to kill every member of the league, his plans are always to take them down, not kill, small but significant detail about how he treats every one in his life
He also does spend his money on philanthropy, but that doesnt make a funny joke so people ignore it, Batman isnt an asshole, i dont get why thats the norm

“Tell me you don’t want to see anarchist Batman take on Stalinist Superman” Bruh………no. No, we don’t. We’ve had enough movies of them fighting each other. It’s gotten boring. We (or, at least, *I*) want movies of them being teammates, friends and, most importantly, HEROES. Besides, there’s already a Superman: Red Son animated film.
I dunno, I think getting an Injustice movie/series would be pretty dope. But it will probably never happen. The amount of characters alone is going to be really hard to pull off. Also murder. Lots and lots of murder. Poor Billy Batson.
So to explain why this is in 4:3 ratio (the natural IMAX ratio) Zach Snyder wanted the action to not be limited side to side like traditional wide screen cinema but he wanted to explore the action moving up and down such as the case with comic books.
IIRC, Zack Snyder said somewhere that he made Justice League in 4:3 because most of the action was vertically oriented and he wanted to narrow the viewer's focus in the center of the screen.
Huh, y'know you may be on to something. That does explain quite a few things. I'm a fan of all 3 but that does provide more context thinking about them that way
I already said this at Cinemasins video and I'll say it again. That part when Flash turns back time is easily best scene in the film. That atmosphere and GOD that score is GOOD

1:08 Wrong, he has confirmed that. It's just a random Kryptonian. The rumor was that the dust was wiped off from the inside, which prompted people to believe it was some major DC character, while actually the dust was wiped off by Clark when he first entered the scoutship in 'Man of Steel'. And for the pod that was already open, it has been confirmed in a 'Man of Steel' prequel comic, that is was Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.
The name is Walter Hamada, and Ray Fisher tried. Joss Whedon wasn't the only reason why 2017 Justice League was such a mess and had such a disastrous production. So to blame everything on Joss, even though yeah he was terrible and the movie he made was a bad joke, is wrong. A crappy and abusive director can only get away with being awful when a producer backs, enables and then shields them. Incidentally, Walter Hamada is also the one who's standing by Amber Heard remaining as Mera, so there you go.
Long time watcher, first time commentor. Absolutely loved your take here, you caught all my favorite details. .Also, please make a video on The Harder They Fall!
This movie deserved to be released in this form but I think the way it ended up being released in two different states has done something amazing for cinema. We get to see a pretty sub-par movie get transformed into some of the best cinematic content from the DCEU. It's pretty impressive, and something that I would love to see happen more often.
I didn't watch the Josstice League so I have nothing to compare the Synder Cut to. What I can say is that, as someone who can't stay still for long periods of time, I didn't move from my seat while watching the Synder Cut. I didn't even feel the need for a snack or pee break! I was completely enraptured and compelled. I don't know much about movies and I'm not a professional critic but, as your average dude, this movie was amazing and I'd gladly sit through it again.
Two small corrections about Batman's contingencies: 1: They aren't designed to kill, they're designed to disable. In a few comic storylines villains have taken them and through their own super genius modified them to kill but that was never their original intention 2: Batman's plans only actually (depending on the continuity) cover a handful of leaguers, Wonder Woman being the most notable exception most of the time as there's only one thing he thinks can really stop her, which connects to my little fun fact below. Batman has acknowledged the contingencies are outdated and only really a 1 in a million chance, in fact his more updated version of them, the Justice Buster armour, is still ultimately not a very effective counter, it's better at handling the league 1 on 1 than the others but A) the suit doesn't really work when his team mates can use their minds and B) Batman's real contingency plan for all of them is one thing: Superman. There are only a few leaguers who can take superman on 1 on 1 and almost none of them can reliably beat him, even at their best (Heck, Captain Atom, Martian Manhunter, and Shazam all have express counters to Superman and they still regularly lose), and despite all his fear mongering, there is no member of the league he knows to be more reliable and less likely to go rogue than Superman. Now, the power gap between the entire core justice league and Superman isn't quite as big as portrayed in the film, but in fairness A) They're missing their second most powerful member, Green Lantern, and B) this League is mostly early in their development. Batman's never really fought superpowered beings, Diana had still never fought a truly worthy physical opponent (She was beating even full grown Amazonians as an actual child), Flash is obviously still finding his footing, Cyborg is new to his powers, and Aquaman hasn't even acquired his trident while Snyder Superman is, power wise, pretty well fully developed.
We got done dirty and we got robbed, especially Mr. Snyder did not deserve this. It's clear he mapped out a whole universe (hence Snyderverse) and wanted to go toe-to-toe with the MCU. And I firmly believe he would have, I always loved Mr. Snyders movies (although he's a somewhat misunderstood genius in that sense) and he's always fully committed to his projects, comic book movies or not, he's just an amazing director and writer. This re-worked movie just showed to us why he was supposed to THAT guy to lead the DCEU. I'll prolly be too old to witness a established dc cinematic universe. Nonetheless this movie was absolutely great and it just worked in his hands. Mr. Snyder will always be one of my top directors.
Man, watching these videos always makes me rethink and re-watch all these movies and love them even more Also, I really like the running gag of calling out Batman for spending ludicrous amounts of money for the most ridiculous stuff as if he doesn't own and donate to many charities, especially in Gotham itself Hope that keeps going with other Batman movies!
as much as I dont love the zack snyder movies in general, I do think justice league is pretty awesome and this cut of it should have been the theatrical release
For anyone who's curious, the actor who was cast as Green Lantern is Wayne T Carr, and he recently released a photo of him in the full Green Lantern get up! Apparently he was supposed to be in JL 2 and 3. Give this man some love!
Fun Fact: In the ultimate cut of BvS Superman dies at 2hrs 38 min and coincidentally in ZSJL he resurrects at 2hrs 38min. Snyder never skips a bit.
I wish they kept the Snyder Verse going

I pose this question,
Look at cyborg from doom patrol, no where nearly as machine like as cyborg from JL,
Is it better to find your individuality and accept it as it is, a terrible situation, made better by the hope of being able to help, or to find it with a team?
I thought exactly the same, I have a friend who I have convinced to watch this who originally refused because his boy cyborg was done dirty, but I was like "no he gets an arc, he gets a story watch it"
The difference between the 2 versions of Justice League from Cyborgs perspective to me, is boiled down to this:
Whedon: "I'm in the movie!"
Snyder: "I AM the movie!"
Nothing.
@@maniac7770 yea but dessad told steppenwolf that it was shameful he betrayed his own family?
@@maniac7770 I mean OPs comment agrees. The point is Steppenwolf's characterization is stronger in this film where as even though that line is kind of clever and witty, it just further makes Stepp an extremely boring bad guy with no discernable traits.

11:05 The best part about this is that Cyborg could have just read the audio info straight off the broken tape. He had to have scanned the entire casette to reconstitute it, so he would have had the audio info he could have just played back to himself.
But he didn't. He wanted to hear, with his own ears, his father's words with his father's voice.
And now let me speak to you from my heart not as a scientist as a father your father twice over. Touching words
Flash: I'm sorry. You have a satellite?
Batman: I have six.
Yeah, because Superman and Zod kryptonically effed up the seventh.

I just... really appreciate how the Justice League cares for each other. Like, they're genuine friends! Arthur asks after Victor's mental health, Batman accomodates Barry's need to eat a lot, Diana enquires about the safety of each member, Barry and Victor banter like the twenty-year-olds they are. They actually like each other!
Not to mention how many times they protect and save each other
I Phantom-Menaced myself with Josstice League, but even when I did like it, the League being a bunch of assholes to each other seriously bothered me even the first time I watched it.
NO soundtrack in existence will beat Superman’s “flight” theme. That score holds a special place in my heart and ALWAYS gives me chills.
Love how his theme matches his personality soft but extremely powerful like Clark is
Sunshine's adagio in D minoooooooooor~
I prefer flight as the new generation Superman theme over the 70s john Williams theme
@@tmac731 Really? Williams theme is iconic and stands the test of time. Zimmer's theme is great for this tone, but no superhero theme will match the sheer brilliance of the 70s supes theme.

Honestly the weird thing about Steppenwolf is that he’s never been my favourite DC Villain and while that still remains the case with ZSJL this is also the first time I’ve felt a more threatening presence from the character through the Re-Design compared to any other incarnation.
him not being defeated by his own fear helps
the moment your main villain starts fearing the heroes is the moment he stops being a serious threat
like even in ZSJL he is still impaled, launched 30 meters, and is decapitated but nowhere in that does he stop being a serious threat, he just stoped being a physical threat
This is The Justice League I knew they could be all this time, the one that dominated comics sales for decades
I do not compare it to any Marvel movie but to the animated series: JLA and JLAU and it delivered
Wait, no win for "It wanted to fly. Flight is it's nature."
"Your's too."
Such a beautiful moment between Bruce and Victor
Another missed win: the trumpet heavy version of the MoS theme when Superman shows up in the climax. Feels like a combination of Zimmer and Williams’s themes. It helps evoke the feeling that Cavil has now become the Superman we all know and love. Much better then the half hazard use of Williams’s theme in the theatrical version.
The past and the present blending togheter beautifully :)
Read somewhere that WB wants to save the time-reversing for the "proper" Flash solo movie.

I have to say, the fact that you totally skipped Silas' awe and pride at seeing HIS SON leading a group of superbeings into the lab is truly a disservice. That moment is so important. Victor went from "you made me a monster" to that? I wept. I won't lie.
For those who don’t know, Snyder filmed the entire movie in 4:3 because he wanted the entire movie to be experienced in IMAX. That’s IMAX aspect ratio

Also it allowed him to frame scenes and make them look and feel epic, huge wide shots that somehow still filled the frame.

The humans burying the box works on multiple levels, one, because there wasn't some big, grandiose monument to the box that just screamed "Look at me! Watching all of Snyder's DC movies leading up to the Snyder Cut in sequence pays off really well imo after watching the Snyder Cut.
He started off by showing us broken or flawed individuals not people who have been perfect from day one which I find realistic,
some haven't found their reason to be a hero or whether or not the world wants them to be(Superman),
some are unwilling due to the pain of their past and are hostile/uninterested(Aquaman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman),
some who need help and a supportive environment to grow(Flash)
and someone who has been a hero long enough to see themself become the villain and lose hope in the good of humanity(Batman).

I actually rewatched all the movies before watching the Snyder Cut but this time I set aside whatever existing images I had of the characters and saw them solely based on their actions and history as portrayed in the movies.
I feel that keeping aside whatever bias we have of what these heroes should be before watching the DCEU helped me understand where these characters are coming from and sympathize with them and understand why the dark or grim setting makes sense, especially in a modern day societal setting.
I think that as long as Zack Snyder continues to develop the heroes more and more through each movie to become the iconic heroes we know them as,
then I don't have any issues with the grim or dark toned beginnings he has made so far.

And now test screenings of the Flash are giving me reports that Zod shoots down Superman’s ship? NO! Absolutely not. 12:07 is that... is that an A-Trai n reference? Brutal dude... brutal
Dude... The fact that you mentioned Supermans Flight...

“Tell me you don’t want to see anarchist Batman take on Stalinist Superman”
Bruh………no.
@@SentiNel090 there’s already an Injustice movie. Literally came out last year.
So to explain why this is in 4:3 ratio (the natural IMAX ratio) Zach Snyder wanted the action to not be limited side to side like traditional wide screen cinema but he wanted to explore the action moving up and down such as the case with comic books.
corridor crew has done several react videos covering many aspects of how technically marvelous this film is, I highly recommend you check them out!!
IIRC, Zack Snyder said somewhere that he made Justice League in 4:3 because most of the action was vertically oriented and he wanted to narrow the viewer's focus in the center of the screen.
6:45 the only difference the black suit provides is more solar energy absorption which means he’s stronger innately when wearing it
In the DCEU, it’s just a black suit
Moss is about father's, BvS is about mothers, and this movie is about family.
Love all three of them.
Huh, y'know you may be on to something. That does explain quite a few things. I'm a fan of all 3 but that does provide more context thinking about them that way
***True Story*** I just watched brentford beat Chelsea 4:1 and I've got a 30 min train journey home, silver lining was seeing part 2 was released 👌
I already said this at Cinemasins video and I'll say it again. That part when Flash turns back time is easily best scene in the film. That atmosphere and GOD that score is GOOD
PLEASE Do EGA WolfWalkers! It’s a spectacular work of art and Cartoon Saloon needs more love and attention!
9:40 "Shayera, it's so beautiful here. There's a force, a speed force, it's calling me home. I need to go"
Film Theory has an interesting theory how the Josstice League and ZS Justice League can exist in the same story line.
Dude that VA comment hit home. Been in pain for six months due to a service related back injury. The local VA clinic told me they aren't accepting new patients at the moment. Been sleeping on the floor the last 3 months because I couldn't get out of bed in the mornings.
i still maintain that bruce wayne does actually use his money for stuff with charity but that doesnt make for good cinema so they never really cover it in the movies
1:08 Wrong, he has confirmed that. It's just a random Kryptonian.
The rumor was that the dust was wiped off from the inside, which prompted people to believe it was some major DC character,
while actually the dust was wiped off by Clark when he first entered the scoutship in 'Man of Steel'.
And for the pod that was already open, it has been confirmed in a 'Man of Steel' prequel comic, that is was Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.
i really hope one day we will get everything great about a silent voice, that movie deserve so much love
You didn’t lie when you said you will still keep commenting
I love the not-so subtle shot at WW84 around 8:40
Whoever thought this movie needed a lighter tone should be FIRED!!!
That final kicker with Sadfleck and Hollywoodland behind him? Perfection.
I swear if I gotta hear the "If OnLy BrUcE uSeD hIs MoNeY" line in the video for The Batman I'm gonna throw up.
The Academy Award winning Justice League everybody
Heeey!! You uploaded part 2 of my favorite movie On. My. Birthday!!!
Thank you so much!!
Well, Hans Zimmer composed for the DCEU and that just instantly trumps everything the MCU has to offer.
Two small corrections about Batman's contingencies:
1: They aren't designed to kill, they're designed to disable. In a few comic storylines villains have taken them and through their own super genius modified them to kill but that was never their original intention
2: Batman's plans only actually (depending on the continuity) cover a handful of leaguers, Wonder Woman being the most notable exception most of the time as there's only one thing he thinks can really stop her, which connects to my little fun fact below.
Man, watching these videos always makes me rethink and re-watch all these movies and love them even more
Also, I really like the running gag of calling out Batman for spending ludicrous amounts of money for the most ridiculous stuff as if he doesn't own and donate to many charities, especially in Gotham itself
Hope that keeps going with other Batman movies!
as much as I dont love the zack snyder movies in general, I do think justice league is pretty awesome and this cut of it should have been the theatrical release
My special skill is seeing the teaser frame and immediately knowing its a James Bond film :D
“My plans were to immobilize, not kill.”

For anyone who's curious, the actor who was cast as Green Lantern is Wayne T Carr, and he recently released a photo of him in the full Green Lantern get up! Apparently he was supposed to be in JL 2 and 3. Give this man some love!
