Thank you, God, for your precious Son, Jesus, and for His blood that was shed for us. And thank you, Lord, for Pa Mac; for his words of wisdom founded on your truth and his great sense of humor and knowledge that he puts out on his channel. Bless him like only you can. We love you, Lord. Amen
This morning, i received an email from my HS counselor that I met all the requirements for graduation and have graduated. I have been online schooled from home since the 4th grade, the biggest blessing of my life, and if my parents hadn't done that, God only knows where the enemy could have taken me. Thank you for this message, sir. God bless you.
That was eloquent and offered some great perspective on life. Would love to see more occasional Pa Mac speeches/talks about life and theology mixed in. Thanks for posting!
Thanks, Pa Mac. This is a profound graduation speech. I feel like I'll need to listen to it every morning. But, like you said, "Taters is better when you dug them yourself. And so is Scripture." Thanks for the encouragement.
I graduated high school back in 85', but for a number of reasons did not attend the graduation ceremony. I have no idea what was said that night, but it could not possibly have held a candle to what you gave us all here, and I will happily accept your message in its stead. I only wish I had heard your words all those many years ago. Thank you and may God bless you.
Thank you for sharing. Powerful words that I need to revisit in my own life. I pray that your words were sown deep in the hearts of those who heard them that day and those who will hear them on this platform. May they grow and bear much fruit. Blessings to you.
This was not 21+ minutes that I regret… Excellent speech, It took me till I was 36 to start doing what i feel I was meant to do. College and the Army were good life lessons and time is a harsh instructor, but working my own land and building a business has been the greatest challenge and fun I’ve ever had. I appreciate your informative videos and your example.
Just got home from our daughter's graduation. The speeches ranged from "save money now" to live like some song from Taylor Swift. This was by far the most profound speech. Thanks Pa Mac and amen.
What a wonderful way to start my morning! When you start a podcast on Christian living, I'll be there! I'm going to have to listen to this again. And the fact that you're giving this speech at a homeschool graduation is the cherry on top. ❤
That was a beautiful speech Gary. I wish that someone had mentioned those same 12 points at one of my graduation ceremonies - even the one from Bible School, but even more so, that I would have listened to them.
Great commencement address! A lot of us older folks need to listen and follow your suggestions. God and His Word are the key and I was very happy to see you included Him in virtually every point. Think I am going to share this around to some people that might listen to a guy in overalls but might not be interested in darkening the door of a church.
I was my High School valedictorian. So I was asked to give a commencement speech at the graduation event. Pa Mac's speech is the speech I wish I had given. 🙂
I teach these very things to my family.. I speak of failing like you did but I say to fail and fail often because that's when you grow and learn.. Without failure you can't experience victory.
I believe I have watched every video you have made. I have always suspected that you were a lot smarter than you let on. Today I 'know' that you are a LOT smarter than you let on. Five stars to you Sir, your speech was perfect. I respected you immensely before but that has increased a lot. You are a great representative of God in everything you do. Art from Ohio
MY NOTES ON PA MAC'S TWELVE-POINTS GRADUATION SPEECH 1. Who you are when you're alone is who you are. Character is measured by how you treat those who can't do anything for you. 2. High school never ends (regarding those who constantly seek recognition). Walk in humility with your God. 3. Don't be afraid of failing or of being wrong; be afraid of getting comfortable with failure or wrongness. The ordinary, everyday things you do in your life are the most important. 4. If that idea were a piece of food, would I put it in my mouth? Test everything against scripture. [My addendum: Christ said that it's not what goes into your mouth that pollutes you, but what comes out of your mouth. Keep your speech pure, and that's more than just avoiding naughty words. Do (and speak) unto others as ye would have them do (and speak) unto you.] 5. It's not what you have that makes you rich, but what you can do without. Christianity is about learning to distribute things, not accumulate them. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. [My addendum: How hardly will the rich man enter the kingdom of heaven! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. With God all things are possible, even the salvation of the rich man-but let's be wise about this. Don't seek for riches that moth and rust doth corrupt, and that thieves break through and steal. Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven, and in God's good time, all these things will be added unto you.] 6. Respite: A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. 7. The highest occupation: I want to be the best servant of the Lord Jesus Christ that I can be. (a) A good servant waits on his Master, not go around creating projects in his Master's name, hoping his Master will ratify his efforts. (b) The Lord willing, I'm going to be a good husband and father. 8. Taters taste better when you dig them yourself. So does scripture. The scriptures are used as an illustration to get across what the preacher wants. This is exactly backward. [My addendum: In LDS parlance, this is called "wresting the scriptures".] 9. Pray and strive to hate your own sin. As Christians, it's easy to jump on the condemnation bandwagon for others' sins. Pay attention to your own. There is a healthy guilt that drives you to repentance. 10. Christians should not strive and toil to be "better" Christians; they should strive to be "Holy Spirit-operated" Christians. 11. Glorify God. The chief end of man is to glorify God and worship Him forever. 12. As followers of Christ, Jesus must have preeminence in your life.
@@farmhandscompanion Ahhh.....but grandbabies are around the corner! Pa Mac will be an amazing Papa Mac. We are doing good...but you, know life happens sometimes. WE just lean on the Lord and pray. Might try to make it out there to see you sometime in the future. Miss ya my brother.
I loved this speech, Pa Mac, especially the prayer that we will not earn more money than we have the ability to handle in order to bring God glory. I also liked the comment about not letting these beautiful inanimate objects like clouds, trees, and stars outdo us in bringing God glory.
Riches that are inside us.Hooe that maketh not ashamed. The Holy Spirit who walks beside us. These are the things that will get us through this present distress. If we ever needed the LORD before we sure do need Him now!
At my graduation our High school president made a powerfull statment that was "If something can come from nothing then anything is possible" he was talking about god and the creation of everything from nothing and no one understoon what he ment even some of my teachers afterward where joking about how dumb his comment was. I guess my point is I remember because I understood the importance of what he said.
sorry not to be a troll. i dont believe in the bible. it has hurt so many people. its a bunch of old men that wrote it. if it gets an update. then maybe i will read it. also you dont have to be christian to be a good person. i believe in science and karma. i heard of so called christians that hate others just for being different. thats wrong. =( im almot sure that you will not respond to my comment. or delete it. why?
You sound like a thinking person, Malene. Don't give up on the Bible yet. I'd be glad to correspond further with you on the things you mentioned. farmhandscompanion.com/about-pa-mac/contact/
This is definitely the only graduation speech I've ever heard worth remembering. Well done, and thank you for sharing it.

Pa Mac....don't know who you are, or why you are in my YT feed.....but you Sir have just vocalized a lot of what i've learned in my 37 years.
Wonderful speech from a father who loves his child through Jesus. Blessings

Thank You. In this you have proven yourself the man I thought you to be.
This is the best sermon I have heard in years. Thank you. I'm sending it to my sons that I home schooled.
Thanks for sharing with us Pa. Very good speakings. Stay safe and keep up the good works around there. Fred.
To say this was really good is an understatement. This is what people should be told.
Amen, thank you for sharing. Elle is very lucky to have this to start her adult life. I hope she heeds your warnings and applies this.
Fantastic address. I do believe it glorified God. I want to do that more in my life every day.
Best graduation ever. Thank you.

Awesome advice and love the baby in the background!
I concur! Excellent speech! If I would have followed all of that so much of my life wouldn't have been heartbreaking.
Thank you for making this. God bless you.
A big AMEN and Thank you! So much wisdom in your message.
Most powerful speech I have ever heard!

I wish someone had said those things at my high school graduation as well. I could have really used those words back then.
My grandpa said it like this .
“Be the same person when no one is looking“
I could have used this back in ‘06
What a blessing to hear! Thank you!
AMEN ,please keep up your great work !
WOW what Godly wisdom we all need to hear and follow this.

tuned out after #4, sorry but critical thinking is a higher calling.
