    Gotta say, personally I struggle with 'not doing enough' as in trying to maximise EVERYTHING to the point where I keep getting burned out. But if you literally do the bare minimum you are gonna make progress. Having high standards is amazing, but perfection is unrealistic. Good video!

  • @rrss1598
    @rrss1598 3 місяці тому +12

    I don’t get it, what’s wrong with eating junk food or playing video games? Sometimes you’re in a period of rest and it’s fine to indulge in those things because otherwise you’re going to burnout. Balance is key, you gotta keep discipline but allow yourself to rest and reset too. And ofc if you feel like something is interfering very negatively, then you cut it out

    In my opinion, I believe that not everything in life has to be a competition yk. Where I live, competition in school is tough enough as it is, and sometimes this competitiveness carries on with people to their college and work-life, and they just become very self centered and obnoxious people. But I do agree with you wanting competition to be a driving spirit for people to become the best version of themselves!

  • @minlrgo
    @minlrgo 4 місяці тому +58

    Summary:
    You are in a competition with everyone but not in a bad way where you want to beat people because you hate them, you just want to be in the top 90% and it's easy because everytime you do something that is bad for you (scrolling, eating junk food, playing video games...) you go backward, so even by doing nothing you're way better than average, and just by focusing on one thing, like workout or studying, or starting a business, you go way highter than most of the other people you know. (I hope my english isn't too bad, it's not my native language)

Also I agree with what you said, but I’d like to add that once you’ve surpassed the ‘low’ people you should set your goals to be higher than the bare minimum. Be 1% better than yourself every day and start aiming for that 10% of people’s level. Anyways thanks for another vid!

    powerful message. i’ll admit that i’m more on the “leaning towards tech” side of this whole race but i understand the point you’re making, just do what can be done and don’t mess with your life too much etc, focus on what’s there…just don’t stagnate either, make that progress no matter how many small because one step forward is still better than three forward one back. not really leaning towards the competition side of things but if i can move at a pace i can be more comfortable with consistently that would be great

    Loved the message in this video. Lately I've been trying to get back into good habits but I always try to do too much at once. I end up trying to think about what I should study first instead of studying anything at all. But one thing I have been able to do is start reading and meditating before bed. man.. I found ur channel today. and i'm glad I found it.
    I always try my best to not get distracted but I always js do get distracted.
    I don't have social media except discord and youtube. I don't consider youtube a social media, it's more like netflix to me. I don't use netflix either.
    I get distracted from my studies specifically. I really need to study right now. i'm 16, i'm graduating 10th grade. and I really need to fucking study but I keep thinking ab other stuff like a new Story line for my comic or quickly sketching up a scene I just saw out the window, or making after graduation plans ab wanting to learn coding and stuff.
    I don't know if it's "distraction" or wether it's just me being held back due to my studies. but either ways, I js can't seem to focus on the ONGOING when I really REALLY need to and idk wut to do ab that. ;-;
    immediately ur channel clicks like a friend to me n I felt like ur the right person to ask. Kinda feel like i'm stabbing a spear in darkness w this comment but I've already typed it so might as well.

    Also when you are trying to improve, just a little bit is better than most people. Just a little bit every day is good. I feel like with studying I tell myself that if I don't have at least 2h - 4h or more, I wont be able to make progress, but then the barrier to entry is so large that studying always feels like a huge task. The more I look over notes when I have 15-30 min instead of going on my phone, the easier it is to make progress and the more I'm able to do with my time.

    yo ruff this reminds me of your old videos, the time where its just you and the viewer its makes it feel like you're actually there. Apart from the highly edited videos, it'd be nice if you just talk with subtitles in that same spot ur in rn

    hey bro just a thing to say that there is a guy called sadhguru who says that " if life is a race ofcourse you must win . if you win what should happen ? you must get to the finish line first (death). you want to get there soon ? "
    ofcourse not , so pls dont think life as a race just enjoy the process guys .

    Being competitive has ruined my life. I brake down every time I see that I'm 5. In class now even tho I try so hard to study and the grades I get are actually my limit I can't do better no matter what because I don't know what's in those tests and I learn thinking I understand everything 10/10 but those small mistakes make it 8/10 which really doesn't help. That also creates the concept of me trying to become perfect cause I see those better than me at school perfect. It's hard and I wish I didn't see it like that and just try to have my average grades not slip down and that be my only goal in school. It's also hard being alone in school so studying is the only thing that I benefit in school. If I don't get good grades other people also think I'm just dumb and I've confirmed that, that's what they said.

    Before watching this video I was thinking about how I didn't train for track when I was one of the best 8th graders in my state and how it's fueling me to train as hard as I can for my final High school track season, after watching this video it's added more fuel to the fire.
