Thanks Bethany, great video! Appreciate all the detail. You make me miss the furniture world.
Thanks for watching William! Even though this line of work takes a lot of patience and attention to detail I absolutely love it! Good mental therapy too!
Well dang I’ve got one just like this.. had no idea how to get an idea of the age.. thanks! Appreciate this
Yeah it's like being a detective haha! There's usually a lot of clues if you know what to look for.
Another good video Beth. You sure have a creative eye. I wish I could see things like that. One caveat to your video. You mentioned the end panels were loose in the frames. That is the way they are supposed to be. That way it allows for expansion and contraction of the wood. That is probably the other end broke to begin with. It is just a matter of time until it happens. Great tip about the preserving the finish. I breath into the jar before closing the lid and it works pretty good but this product is worth a try.
Have an awesome day and keep up the good work
Yep, I was going to mention that the side panels themselves should probably be free floating, and that just the rails and stiles are glued together. And yeah, it's a nice job over all.
@@AB-nu5we Thanks for watching and commenting. I should have clarified more in the video the “good” side that was loose was actually out of the side panel completely. Looks like the adhesive had a complete fail just due to age. I appreciate you commenting.
@@madelinejeanantiquesrestor9074 You rock Beth and again a great eye
@@DavidWhite Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great points! I appreciate you sharing your experience with refinishing furniture. The Bloxygen spray is amazing! I wish I knew this product existed years ago!
Stunning piece!
What's the name of the color? On the intro description, it states it's a Wise Owl color.
Thank you for liking the finished look. The color is Atomic Blue.
I have the exact same problem.. even brushing it on. Might need laquer thinner, but I honestly have no idea. It just sucks
Wow mam! you are talented, new subscriber here :)
Thanks so much! I appreciate you subscribing! 😁
I’m going to try OHE in black. Any suggestions on how to distress this paint? I love the idea that it has a topcoat. Would this be durable enough on a kitchen table top?
NICE! Yes the OHE would be durable enough for a kitchen table top. I always stress to customers of mine even though a topcoat is built in OR if I refinish a piece with a poly topcoat does not mean it's indestructible. Always use caution with hot items like coffee cups and hot dishes. Use coasters at all times even with cold drinks and wipe any moisture away quickly. You can either distress it while the paint is still semi-wet (I don't do this method) or wait until it's dry. I use 150 grit sand paper to distress the edges.
