That was like a scene out of The Twilight Zone. I'm sure it has a happy ending! I appreciate his efforts and scrutiny. Maybe we can make our own version, being that, we are jewelry makers and enthusiasts and that is because & why, It is a Language, a Secret Message in the Bottle one must perceive it's meaning, after first glance. I will never forget this!
@katiejo1095 I thought so too! But he made me doubt myself when he said that this "ugly dot is just glue". I'm glad you mentioned it. I love the message of the mustard seed... "If you have faith as small as mustard seed, you can move mountains".
Love that mustard seed heart in a heart. That belonged to someone's grandmother. To that grandmother it meant faith in God as a mustard seed can move mountains. I would buy that in a NY minute.
The Heart amulet with the strange yellow object at the center of the smaller heart is a mustard seed! The old saying "if you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains!"
Exactly. I used to work in a costume jewelry factory in south Wales, UK. All set with Swarovski crystals which mostly had foiled backs, often including enamel, and plated with rhodium or gold. It was quite expensive for faux jewelry, and all pieces are marked on the back with A&S for Attwood and Sawyer.
I’m sorry but I can’t take what you say seriously because your hands are so dirty and rough. If you are going to show products you really ought to have your hands neatly groomed so as not to detract from your examples. You seem like a sweet guy and I am not trolling you, just being honest. Appearance matters.
One of the reasons I love costume jewelry is that it is NOT expensive, but it may match a piece of clothing or have a particular colour I love. Value often is more than monetary.
That very first piece goes to show you how value and beauty really is in the eye of the beholder into all of us. Spiritually minded, faith, minded individuals, we know right away that is a mustard seed and we know right away. There is a huge market for those types of necklaces and jewelry pieces. I have one right now sitting right next to my bed that I wear, it is not made of any precious metal at all but that mustard seed is very precious to me!
Hey Rusty. Just want to compliment your videos. You are one of my favorite to watch. I also appreciate how you dont try to sell promotional products or ask for us to join your patrion. The information you provide is good solid teaching. Keep up the great work cousin!
I am a jewelry maker. You found some lovely pieces. The Blue Rhinestone pin doesnt have any aurora borealis crystals in it. Aurora borealis will appear as a rainbow coating. Also the larger rectangular stones are not considered Baguettes. Just an FYI. Great work!
Matthew 17:20 “… Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20-21. The scriptures say '"if ye have faith as a mustard seed nothing shall be impossible for you.". read the whole text there. I am 81 and as a small child was given a pearl bracelet with a clear charm having a little mustard seed in the centre. I still have that pretty bracelet. The words of Jesus are so powerful and will be to time indefinite. You have a humble little heart brooch with its mustard seed that is so valuable in its significance.
The first custom-made piece is easily distinguishable-it’s a mustard seed inside the small heart. 💖 “…if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
Both of you ladies have wonderful ideas on finding modern ways to display & incorporate our inherited or purchased costume jewelry; regardless of whether the pieces are are low or high end examples. I'll keep these in mind. Thank y'all for your projects & inspiration. ❤😮😊
I love that you start with what to avoid. It is far more helpful for a newbie to learn what not to do, as we are far more likely to waste money than anything else.
Fellow commenters, your PSA for the day is read the comments section to see if anyone else has already made the same point before spamming it again, and again…and again… Anyway, thank you for the video. It was extremely helpful. You presented it in a way that made me think about looking at jewelry i come across completely different. I understand there will be exceptions, but I’m a bit less intimidated now lol.
You are pretty awesome Rusty ! i value your knowledge and Clarity and how precise you are getting to the point i absolutely love the pink and white one! oh my goodness I don't even know what kind of flowers they are but absolutely gorgeous and of course the very last one what a hand-me-down piece for Christmas huh? just absolutely beautiful!!!And I love that you call us all your cousins You are Pretty cool Cousin!! p.s.! And I have been looking And looking and looking And looking again haha For a place To sell them I can't wait to watch your video to see if it gives me any help thank you!!!
I commented about how the mustard seed pin would have been wanted by a LOT of people, then I read the comments. I'm happy to see I was correct in my assumptions about it being wanted!!! I'd have loved to get that too!
I sell donated jewelry pieces for fund raising. I am interested in jewelry and make jewelry myself. I examined each piece to decide how much to ask for or should be sold on line. I fix broken pieces, mend loose beads, or restring necklaces. I learn a lot of researching brands, periods, and price range.
I do the same thing for oncology and heart institutes. Glad to see there's another one out there doing the same as me! I love donating my peices for fundraising! It feels good to be able to contribute to something so important to my heart! For one thing, I'm not rich so I can't donate like the rich do. But I am artistic so I can definitely help in that department and still make a big difference! And that alone is so heartwarming & unforgettable. I've had people contact me and thank me for the help. I just wish more people would get involved and do the same in someway! A donation to a cause can come in so many ways!
Right, Lots of 50's I believe had a Mustard Seedin it. It's from a Bible Verse. "For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20-21).
I have mom’s large cameo that she wore in the casket during her funeral. She left it to me. I’m 76, and plan to start wearing it to church. I haven’t worn it enough and mom passed in 2008.

I am very thankful for ALL of the information you shared in this video, I found it EXTREMELY helpful AND educational since I've been learning more extensively on other crystals that can be used for healing, beauty, yoga, health, gardening, everyday life and so on.
Due to rules in war time or…?! I’ve heard there are countries that weren’t allowed to mark during a certain period (which is why I referenced war). I’ll have to do more research 🧐

Very informative. Thank you for the info. This video popped up in my recommended videos. I will definitely check out more videos and your other channels. (And of course subscribe.)
So glad I found your channel. I was looking for info on high end costume brooches and this video is by far the most informative and helpful Ive come across. Thank you very much!
I have a hand me down charm bracelet from my mother that has a charm similar to the double heart broach. It is single of course, but it is a mustard seed and my mom taught me the Bible verse to go with it.
Rusty I read where the striating on the backs of brooches were started in the late 70s or 80s through today and it’s a way to tell how old the piece is , it may be something to do with importing from other countries too. Smooth looking backs on pins and brooches mean made in the 60s or earlier. This is what was told to me by a very knowledgeable collector, It may not be true, but I know when I’m looking at brooches in the wild, a smooth back indicates an older piece to me. Love learning from you! 😊
It's a mustard seed inside the small heart! "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
I learned a lot. I will watch your chanel. I have lots of beautiful vintage jewellery I want to sell and also make a nice collection for myself. 😊 . Enjoyed ypir video.from Canada 😮
I have my mothers costume jewelry - she had some beautiful pins by Trifari and a few Avon pins from way back which are marked. Where can I sell them and are they worth anything?
Thank you for all the info! I inherited my great grandmother and my grandmother's jewelry and there were many costume pieces. I have often wondered how much they were worth even though they are costume jewelry. I'll look through them again for some of the things you pointed out here.
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻 Hi I just found your site. And looking forward to watching some more episodes. I subscribed, because I think you gave some really great information. Thank you.
I found an Old mustard seed necklace. I lost it and was so hurt that I went on an internet hunt and replaced it but it's not the old one I'd found at a yardsale.
Double heart is a Reference from the Bible, having the faith of the mustard seed.
Thanks!
Definitely a mustard seed. I wear a mustard seed neckless.
That’s beautiful scripture. Is a lovely brooch
I’d buy that mustard seed pin.
Great mustard seed heart pin, maybe you could sell it for an Easter sale. ❤
The heart pin. That is a mustard seed representing the seed of faith inside of the heart of a believer.
If ye have the faith of a mustard seed, ye shall say unto the mountain “Move” and the mountain shall move.
You’d think he’d know that.
That was like a scene out of The Twilight Zone. I'm sure it has a happy ending! I appreciate his efforts and scrutiny. @katiejo1095 I thought so too! But he made me doubt myself when he said that this "ugly dot is just glue". I'm glad you mentioned it. I love the message of the mustard seed... "If you have faith as small as mustard seed, you can move mountains".
I love that so many of you are saying what I thought when I saw the mustard seed heart. Keep the faith!
It's a mustard seed the seed of faith I would buy in a new York minute ❤❤❤
they were more common in a ball shape and were quite common statement of christianity back circa 1960
Yes, knew right away, it was a mustard seed.
That heart brooch-the egg yolk looking piece inside the resin is a mustard seed. This is a piece of mustard seed jewelry, which is highly collectible.
Very interesting to learn.
I have aspecial bond with my Nanna over mustard seed jewelry
Yep, yep. Yep.
Love the mustard seed
Significance sells.
Would you do an episode on how to clean the vintage jewelry. Very informative. Thank you.
Love that mustard seed heart in a heart. That belonged to someone's grandmother. To that grandmother it meant faith in God as a mustard seed can move mountains. I would buy that in a NY minute.
The first piece has a mustard seed inside the heart! It's a religious piece a gift of hope.
The Heart amulet with the strange yellow object at the center of the smaller heart is a mustard seed! The old saying "if you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains!"
don't forget that Swarovski fancy stones are foil backed and and some are painted ( called delights) and Swarovski thinks a lot of their stones.
Exactly. I used to work in a costume jewelry factory in south Wales, UK. All set with Swarovski crystals which mostly had foiled backs, often including enamel, and plated with rhodium or gold. Those sparkly brooches make great inexpensive decorations for a little girls princess room. You can put them anywhere she needs some sparkle 😁
I had box, of costume jewelry, from my grandmother, I decorated my Christmas tree with it one year, the brochettes and beads, were very decorative.
Both of you ladies have wonderful ideas on finding modern ways to display & incorporate our inherited or purchased costume jewelry; regardless of whether the pieces are are low or high end examples. I'll keep these in mind. Thank y'all for your projects & inspiration. ❤😮😊
I like you. You don't take up hours talking about b.s.; you get to the point and tell us exactly what to look for, etc.

Many of the brooches that are unmarked are made in Germany
And although that it is not perfect the value of the rhinestones is good
And thank you
Due to rules in war time or…?! I’ve heard there are countries that weren’t allowed to mark during a certain period (which is why I referenced war). I’ll have to do more research 🧐
