There are so many collectors and vintage jewelry enthusiast on UA-cam. Jason Adams is one who is phenomenal. another one is Lady Sylvia . check them out.
I found a beautiful big emerald necklace with erings that are clip on 's in an antique store near me. No one knew what kind of polished stone it was, but I knew it was a beautiful 1950s peice. A good expseve emerald will have a blue hue to it and mine does .
Always love the creativity, engineering & efficiency of convertible jewelery pieces! Ring to bracelet is one I hadn't seen before though 😲 Very, very cool. (Another ARS episode showed an Indian filigree posy-holder whose base folded out like petals to create a free-standing flower-holder, which I also loved!)
You're probably right about the origin of the sapphire. Sri Lanka* is famous for its "forget-me-not" coloured sapphires. (* I've been corrected about the name by my Tamil neighbours...)
I get all giddy and love struck looking at all the sparkles & colors - absolutely beautiful, thankyou for sharing your treasures for us all to see - that was so awesome to watch 🩵
The little Lalique ring is gorgeous. So delicate and in such good condition. I bet they’d sold it somewhere before they’d even got home. I hope the current owner enjoys the piece for what it is. Incidentally, the lady in the red top in the background looked so interested, at one point, I thought she’d pull up a seat at the table 😂 The yellow Brazilian diamond ring is breathtaking, very simple and definitely something I’d enjoy wearing.
@@chrisgeorge84 May I suggest you look up the Belle Époque jewellery by Lalique and others like Fabergé... Every piece was influenced by nature. With yellow gold, green, and pearl white the most popular combinations.
Sometimes the families have been told ALL the stories the previous owner had been told or had LIVED thru. Other times they know next to nothing. I wish the young lady’s gramma had shared any of her stories she had because that treasure chest was so cool! The stories are so much fun. I think I need to record/document my jewelry so my kids and grands know what the stories are and that it’s ok if they want the money instead of keeping things in a box.
I love that you also aim to document your Jewelry and I’m in the process of making archival journals of my own collection. My pieces are those that hold special meaning, having inherited them from my elders whom at times cannot relay the origin of these. I always felt it was a shame I could not know the stories of these heirlooms. Was it an anniversary present? Or part of a dowry? And as a handmade Jewelry artist, I have many accessories that I’ve designed that I would love to include my thought processes of how it was made and pictures of myself wearing it. Although the Jewelry archival journals will take immense work, probably a lifetime’s, I think it will be a good legacy to leave behind. To future descendants or bequeathed to individuals who I know will appreciate my treasures when I am gone. ⭐️
These prices would be higher in 2024 and even higher here in the U.S. The trends now tend to be more sleek or tailored if you will but this is my favorite too. Well done and thank you to the persòn who put it together!
what a fascinating statement 'its us who are the ephemeral things' I never thought about this obvious thing before. as we die but gems last seemingly forever or rather diamonds at least.
Not just diamonds. Most gems last for a very long time. Think about how long ago they were formed and how well they have survived in nature up till we get to see them in our jewelry.
I loved his words after that also - "this scintillation, this return of light is really quite inimitable". Wow. Light is what allows us to see anything, but I think of it a little deeper, that the most beautiful things are the reflecting and creating of light.
I bought a bracelet at a flea market for $3 many years ago. I wore it a few times, and received many compliments. Last year I took it to a jeweler to see if the clasp could be fixed. I found out it was 14k yellow gold. I sold it, and got $1460.00.
Вы правы я тоже смотрела и восхищалась ))) и интонацией и прекрасным голосом этих дам и их манера держаться - классическая английская …. Очень приятно видеть и слышать
They're lovely. Still top notch imperial jade is more costly... I'm a gem collector, and jade is rather high on my bucket list. Not green though. But pink, lilac, and colourless "ice" jade.
Gems can have such interesting life cycles. My Grandfather had a ring with two diamonds set in it that had originally been from a pair of earrings. When he died he left the ring to my brother who isn’t really a jewelry kind of guy (I can’t even get him to use a pocket square) so he gave it to me and I had the diamonds reset into earrings. So the cycle continues.
The young lady with the Brazilian yellow diamond seemed to be the most interested in her ring. She appeared to have given some thought about which questions to ask.
I keep thinking of Queen Mary's ( wife to George Vth ) collection of jewellery, a lot of which she had squirreled from other people. It must be worth an incredible fortune!
The Victorians were quite clever ! Some high jewellery necklaces transforms into tiaras. With some pendants turning into brooches and earrings as well.
I love seeing the older pieces of jewelry but my one complaint is they are ALL so dirty you can't see the details of the settings and sometimes even the gems! I wish Brits would clean them before they go to show them off!
The ring that turns into a bracelet has to be worth way more than a thousand. I would pay more than that for that ring and i dont even collect jewelry!
Never send valuable jewelry off to be appraised with cer And certify. Always take it in person because you don't know if diamonds or any part of the jewelry will be removed and replaced.
I can’t believe the estimates. One can’t purchase the jewelry shown on this program here in the States for the prices mentioned. I’d like to travel to England just to get some of these bargains! Any suggestions?
The Lalique ring appears to be in the form of a front view of the head of a preying mantis (insect). I used to keep one I caught in a jar.... trust me I won't forget those alien bug-eyes and swivelling head :)

That Victorian convertible ring to bracelet was SPECTACULAR
that thing is insane. They need to make it again, Id pay more than 1500 euros for that ring today.
But also rather fragile.
It really was.😮😊

It's worth 3000 quid on a bad day in 2024; easy. Gotta watch these bullocks stone merchants; with a keen magnifier.
The jewellery experts are always so eloquent and passionate in their appraising.
Their knowledge of the symbolism of every stone is so charming.
I was really hoping to hear him say.... Karl Fabergé.
Agree I love their enthusiasm
I agree! I do miss the pretty hostess and the footage of the roadshow in beautiful locations in these short cuts though.
Sometimes they get it wrong; meaning worth or estimated value.
So nice to see a jewelry compilation. I wish they'd do more of these.
Geoffrey Munn is a poet, I enjoy his eloquent way of describing the beautiful gems.
I'm really interested in jewellery, especially older pieces. I wish there was more of these clips, they're the ones I watch the most.

The yellow brazilian diamond is just amazing!
I agree.
It deserves to be reset in a nicer ring though...
Oh wow, that ring/bracelet combo was just incredible.
We should be able to do more versatile designs in this day and light but designers are getting lazy.

Looked like 2 praying mantis’ holding hands and the white heart kinda makes it look like a mantis face.
It's just so stunning. Of all the jewellery it piqued my interest the most.
@chrisgeorge84 that's what I thought too. It reminded me of my preying mantis.
