Pro tip for buyers and sellers: When researching what something is worth, always look at sold listings. You want to know how much people are paying for it, not how much people ask for it.
Do you guys ever feel bad about buy anything that's worth money and in good condition to resell for a profit when people that actually might need or just want to get something nice that they wouldn't be able to afford otherwise miss out. Like you take from the lows level of Society and resell helping shrink the middle class. But I guess it is fun to have shopping be your job.
@@smoke24-7 I get what you're saying and understand. I'm retired and on a tight budget. I don't feel bad because this is my business. It's like buying the last loaf of bread that's on sale. Someone will do it if I don't. Trust me...scoring big time on these online stores does not happen all that often. I spend a lot of time shopping, listing, mailing, and then waiting 30 days to make sure the seller doesn't return the item. They may even keep it and sell it somewhere else and make even more money. It's not as easy as these pros are telling you. They have accepted the fact that it's their job and a job requires work and investing your own money. Retail would be dead if you could not make a profit on your sales. And....if it is your job, you have to pay taxes on what you make. There is a lot here that isn't shown. You have a good heart, but we each have different needs and experiences. Good luck with what you are doing to make a living!
@@swissuz no it's like buying all of the sale items and reselling them at a higher price or buying every peach that's not bruised and reselling them at a higher price. I've seen a guy find a good pair of kid shoes and was so happy he got 65$ when the shoes only cost 10$. I've sold computer, cards and other things I understand reselling. But kids shoes not to mention the guys that fill up the back of their truck with as much descent furniture as they can. I think yardsales should be any goes but at least kid shoes from savers and goodwill should be taboo. That's just my opinion. I grow up as one of 4 raise my a single mom. I got some of my best and most clothes and toys form savers growing up. A good used pair of kid shoes is hard to come by. So yeah I just think needed items shouldn't profited on, like shoes and a good jacket. Not fancy jackets, not designed to keep warm but to be fashionable. Fashion isn't a fundamental need
@@ChristIsOurKing you are kinda stupid. Of course you are free to be a piece of shit. I never said it should be illegal but before you go on a other dumb rant about freedom maybe remember there is a reason why there are laws against buying full packs of beer and selling them by the half box. Or maybe the fact mattress stores can't sell mattresses with out a tag. Get over yourself. Its messed up to buy something some else might need just to try and make a profit off of. You sound like someone who would defend slavery.
I had just seen one of the glass paperweights you featured just this morning and after seeing your video I rushed back to goodwill and it was still there! Over 60yrs old made in Italy.
Yes! I thought I had seen the camera scan past another blown glass paperweight right before going over to the taller made in china vase. They are always a good buy and never sit for long-quick sellers!
Hi! I don’t know if someone’s already told you but the frog plush toy was sold at Ikea in the mid-late 90s. The zipper is for your child to store their pyjamas in. I still have my daughter's one in my one-day-I'm-going-to-be-a-grandmother box.❤️
I love sewing so I buy lots of sheets, quilt covers and pillowcases for the fabric. I also buy men’s shirts for the fabric but only if they’re cheap. In my country, thrift stores are getting crazy expensive which is ridiculous. But I will buy items made from “ugly” fabric because when it’s included in a larger piece, it can be pretty. I also buy beaded necklaces if they’re cheap to pull apart and add embellishments to whatever I’m sewing. My next things to buy will be denim jeans. There’s so much you can make from that fabric. My goal within the next two years is to make all my own clothes from thrifted fabric so I never have to buy anything new again
That's amazing good for you! I would really love to learn to sew like that. Finding anything in my size in styles I like it's hard to do! I hope to learn one day!
Be extra cautious when shopping for items such as suitcases, purses, linens, etc. at thrift stores. Bed bugs are on the rise, and this is one way they are transmitted.
I stopped shopping at our Goodwill because they took out the changing rooms. After getting a very sketchy used shirt off eBay and soaking it in hot water it had bugs coming off it and smelled like vomit. I got my money back too. But I googled "things you can catch from used clothing" and it turns out bugs are the least of my worries. Forget that I'm good.
Thrift stores are getting wise to this. Was in a Goodwill today in Asheville NC. Found a Limoges France soup tureen but they had 38.00 on it. They did their homework. Yes...it would be more at an antique store, but 38.00 is a little much for Goodwill.
Exactly. It's sometimes not even worth shopping our Goodwill or Salvation Army in my town. They know people are reselling so they've been looking items up and charging way more. It's annoying to me because the items were donated and so many people re-sell as a side hustle to help pay bills or get ahead.
I live 40 minutes west of Asheville and boy has it changed. Here in East Tennessee Goodwill is the most expensive retail store around which is okay since it goes to good cause. Thrift stores benefiting one local, not national charity can have good prices. The habitat for humanity stores usually have good buys on furniture and appliances and occasionally lamps, bowls
Here’s a great tip for everyone: For years I have always packed large heavy duty Tupperware containers, like bread keepers, cookie boxes. I fill them with clothes etc going away and if I buy glass items when I travel I pack them in the Tupperware with small clothing items to cushion them. I have never had anything broken using this method and it doesn’t take up much space. Sometimes they even fit in the bottom of the carryon.
I haven't shopped at GW for years...they'll have some chachadee things priced at 7.99 that is not only butt ugly and but chipped or cracked. The final straw was when I went to donate two bags of items to Goodwill...the guy taking the donations felt the bags I handed him and asked me why I didn't separate the soft items from the hard ones. Like what? You got to be kidding me! Bye Bye GW.
Because people like this gal have driven up the prices at goodwill. Goodwill wasn't started for people to profit off. But to give poor people a chance to buy higher quality at a good price.
Quick tip for those traveling and wanting to buy Plush or clothes, travel with space saver (borrow a vacuum from the hotel) or use the roll kind or pacum type bags and shrink down the size and fit more in that suitcase!!
Always do this when we're traveling. I put all our bulky items like coats, robes and towels in a shrink bag. Makes it look like I've not packed that much and keeps hubby from yelling at me!🤣
Unfortunately. It's because of this Trend of flipping that has created the price hike. Also when I was a volunteer, there's a lot of Thefts. If you need anything and have no money. Just TALK TO The management quietly and you will be surprised at how much you get GIVEN.
I have been saving up and buying things I could sell. But don’t know how to get started I’m 70 years old. Was going to start and my Son was murdered. Year ago so I’m just now becoming awake!! I live with my daughter so I have to help her no not have want to she has children!!! I love watching you. I have learned so much from you! When I felt cold in my soul I watch your channels. Thank you and God bless!
I am so sorry for the tragic loss of your son, and I pray that you are finding comfort and strength in the words of Jesus. It’s never too late to re-invent yourself; I’m 56, a new empty-nester, and I’m looking at the possibility of thrifting and reselling both as a hobby and hopefully a source of income. Wishing you success on any endeavor you choose! God bless you and may His face shine upon you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I just turned 71, a retired teacher and started selling on eBay in April. Watching resellers like Texas Gal Treasures will help. eBay isn’t the most intuitive site but the Cha Ching King has great tutorial videos on navigating eBay. I just stumbled into selling and I like it. My advice for what it’s worth, start with what you know. Maybe items in your house. I also sell smaller items, easier to pack and the buyer isn’t as stunned by the postage. I also try to keep all in one larger closet. Mine is a side hustle that’s fun and BTW paid for half our trip to Africa. When I realized reselling was going to help with our travel dreams I was all in. I am very sorry for your loss and the pain of losing your son. Reselling can be a great distraction. It gets you out sourcing, meeting people and then when you’re home all of the details of selling. Best of luck.🙏🏻
I am sorry to hear of the tragic loss of your son. As moms we are in such pain when our kids hurt. My daughter died Feb. 28 . Seven months ago. I started thrifting a year ago and it has helped me to get out of the house, and think happier thoughts than the thousand what if’s that are in my head. Hang on to all that is good.
my parents retired early and rented a corner in an antique co - op with 5 - 6 other sellers, they went on a big buying trips driving a big station wagon around the USA in october when it cooled off and they also could see the autumn colors.
You were talking about shoes & didn’t pick up a pair because they were “a really big size 14 or 16, (mens or womens), but a quick fyi, Bigger sizes sell way better than the smaller sizes, In adult shoes. Thx! I enjoy watching your videos and it’s always great to learn something new!
@@_Anna_Nass_ Both. I’ve sold shoes on eBay for a long time & I’ve always always had better luck with the bigger sizes in men’s & women’s shoes. As far as kids shoes, I sell the best in seasonal such as football & track cleats. Of course if they’re a big name or sought after at a particular time they’ll sell any time but I don’t sell the kids shoes near as often as adult shoes.
This has become a new thing for me. I've been thrifting and antiquing for years but it literally never popped in my mind to thrift while out of town. Now it's one of the things I truly look forward to doing when we go out of town. Thanks for sharing
@Carnicia Biscoe WHAAAT?!? I LIVE for road trips where I can thrift in unfamiliar localities - it is SO much fun! Used to be, when I had to go down to FL from VA to stay with my mom for a spell, I would fly down but then rent a car and drive back when the time came... If I could afford a leisurely trip I would eschew the Interstates and drive the local highways and would stop along the way in every little backwater town I came upon. Talk about exciting!
It’s funny she was in Denver on this video and last year I went thrifty in Colorado Springs at a bins and I probably made half of the price of my trip back in sales. I went again this year (I take my grandsons back every summer at the end of the school break) I had to borrow another huge suitcase to bring all my stuff back. I definitely paid for my trip.
At 12:50 you passed a jewelry box, I would always check those to see how old they are and what they are made of. Because, a vintage cherrywood jewelry box (like the one here) could go for upwards of $100! 😊 Happy thrifting!
I grew up with thrift store items and always loved shopping in them too!! I learned a lot watching how you make your choices. Something happened to me as I was watching your video. My mom passed away in 2020. Out of the blue, I began thinking of her and tearing up. When a few seconds later, I got chills!! You zoomed into a blue-green glass bowl that my mom had in our living room throughout the 1970s!! I hadn't seen this bowl since then!! This was confirmation to me that my mom was watching your video with me. Thank you!! 🥰🥰
Wow and this is why I want to start a thrift store because I grew up on goin to them with my mom all the time she also passed away so I want to start my own thrift shop 🥰
I always look at scarves silk one's in particular. They weigh nothing and take up no room and the right one's can sell for a lot of money. Scarves with hand rolled & finished edges are always worth buying as even without a label or knowing the brand you know they would have been expensive to buy.
Tip, when shopping 🛍 for jewelry at a thrift store, bring a magnet 🧲. Unwary cashiers usually don't know that they're selling actual gold jewelry for cheap. Gold does not stick to a magnet. Cheap jewelry ✨️ often will. Ya could make a lot of money 💰 by doing this. Just subbed!! Your friend, Jeff!!
I always thrift when ever I travel… I wrap up the breakables in my clothes, I would never leave something behind and not buy it just because I’m traveling. I’ve even bought some bubble wrap for those delicate items and have often bought an extra suitcase. Love your channel. Thanks!!!
I got a $15 Tamagotchi and resold online for $425 .. it was such a blessing. :D and I love Tamagtochi's since the 90s this was a newer colorscreen one.
I donate things to thrift stores in hopes that they get a better chance. It makes me happy to know that people resell them and they are valued and given a new life.
Bull sh!t . They would never be worth that much I just looked on eBay couldn't find any remotely close to that price. Unless you found some sort of extremely rare one sealed in the box. That was a one of. Other than that keep dreaming
Not sure if anyone else caught it, but I would have loved the Wishbone plush. It was the stuffed dog with the paw print on his left ear just after the squishmallows.
One thing I always check are ladies scarves. Recently found Hermes. Paid $2.50 sold for $75. Also a Frank Lloyd wright from the metropolitan museum. Paid .79 sold for $25. Found a Mexican designer (forgotten name) for .47 sold for $63. Never leave a thrift without checking. So easy to ship as well
Great video. I’m convinced that all thrift stores at least the ones here in Houston have gotten wise to the flipper game as everything is priced so high there’s no profit in them. Every hat that would be a great flip are at least $15.00, bags of costume jewelry is $75-$100. Also, I know some of the employees in the shops are cherry picking the good stuff and flipping themselves. I’m almost ready to quit as there is very few items in every shop. Garage sales and estate sales have gotten wise as well and have everything priced so high there is no profit.
I have a favorite thrift store ( doesn't everyone?), but they make me crazy by putting their price stickers on the bottom of items, right over the makers mark!!!
@@fritzthecat8158Yes. And they pay their Corporate people WAY disproportionately to those they say they are helping. There are many better thrift stores who deserve your money.
That rolling karg Dichroic glass paperweight was mine! So cool to see my sale on here. I love your videos and started watching you some years back and you gave me the motivation to start reselling. I just want to say thank you and without you idk if I would have started selling. Thanks for everything and keep on making awesome videos.
Great video! And a super yes on glass paperweights, especially if they are signed. But do check for scuffs and chips. Also check that they are symmetrical -- sometimes they are ground down to remove chips and scratches and that makes them shaped weirdly. The only thing I saw that may have been worth money was just to the right of the Geek Tikis were a pair of pressed clear glass double candelabras. Hard to tell in the video, but they can be worth at least $50 for the pair, and sometimes more depending on the design. They are from the 1930s.
At time stamp 0:31 to the right of your red bag looks a lot like a Hartmann suitcase in tweed fabric with British Tan leather detailing... At 18:00, wondering just what that was... looked kinda like a Curoc piece. Really enjoyed taking this little thrifting excursion with you, Margaret! So fun to go to other locales and see what kind of stuff shows up in their stores.
Look for black dust on the inside of a used suitcase, I don’t know what it is but that suitcase got checked ever single time by TSA. Finally got rid of it.
I collect just about anything, but my favorite is tons. Can usually find for under 5 bucks. My thrift store sells most all tins for 50 cents. If you travel, the tins make a great place to pack other items in your travels. They are light, can hold a lot win win !!!
The Converse sneakers with the hearts were designed by Japanese high-end fashion designer Rei Kawakubo for her brand, Comme des Garçons. Those sneakers are highly collectible. Rei also added the heart design to T-shirts. Rei's more elaborate avant-garde clothing designs are extremely expensive. It would be great to find her clothing in thrift shops!
@@merciagrace2430 I cannot imagine paying that much for any brand of sneakers. *You do realize, every item we purchase is marked up?* I work in fashion, I deal with buyers who work with various brands. The markups are obscene and staggering! For example, the actual wholesale cost of a blouse I purchased for a relative's gift, was $7. That was the price directly from the manufacturer. *The same blouse at a store, $60!*
Nice stores in Colorado. I think I would have gone for some of those breakables and just rolled them up in my clothing, but that’s me. Great find on the stuffed toys, I will be watching for those. Also, in the mug section I glance through for the thick restaurant ware mugs. I found a Yosemite Ahwahnee Hotel restaurant mug and also a Harvey’s Tahoe Wagon Wheel cafe mug that both sold fast for a good profit. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us!
@@TexasGalTreasures I might have mentioned that I live in California, those resorts are relatively close to me and the items pop up now and then, but any region in the country should have unique restaurant ware that buyers are looking for. Blessings 😊
Just found your channel. We brought some breakables back on a trip and we packed them in heavy plastic storage containers from goodwill. With a little bubblewrap they survived. We also found a small heavy vinyl case that was meant for glasses or wine and we used it as well. When we got home i put the empty storage cases back in the suitcase 😊
I enjoyed your video. It was exactly what I was looking for.... someone to show me what a Goodwill/Thrift store looks like and how to navigate. I have never been into a thrift store or Goodwill store until last year. I was totally overwhelmed. I have since returned twice and am little by little learning about how it works. It helps to find someone to ask while standing in line (LOL)! So now I've learned of senior day, the meaning of color coding, and a few other things. My inventory in my eBay store comes from my "life treasures" - we downsized to our "vacation" home and brought with us 40+ years of inheritance and personal items - a little of everything. Everyday I open a new box and find new things to list, but I always "longed" for the true "thrifting" experience, and thus the reason for venturing into a Goodwill. I now know that there are other goodwills that look a lot like the one I go to. And now I have a "map" to help navigate the hot spots of a Goodwill. I have subscribed to your channel and now follow you on FB. Thank you for your time and efforts.
The Goodwills look different everywhere. That video was super clean. Mine used to be that way, and now ....holy guacamole! Clutter and a mess, but good stuff ends up hiding!
Always on the lookout for glassybaby. I enjoyed hearing your thought process on what to pick up and what to leave behind. Consider that littles can be stuffed inside the sneakers and larger items can be rolled up in clothes. I appreciate your videos and learn a lot!
Fun video! I noticed a pair of Croc classic clogs at 4:55 that you passed up. I couldn’t tell what condition they were in, so maybe that’s why, but those shoes have an over 100% sell-through rate if you didn’t know.
my husband and I thrift MORE on vacation than we do at home. We've seen most of the stuff at our local place... it's guaranteed to be 100% new stuff at a new thrift store.
The “valentines converse” in your screenshot of the eBay sale is a collab between converse and CDG- a Japanese brand based in Paris. Not necessarily a valentines release :)
I love thrifting, but it's def something i have to " get back into", have never resold online,etc..but i can see the VALUE in the things you chose.😊❤️looks like fun, cuz I love getting a true bargain, then reseraching it and finding it's worth MORE!!!
As you said “comment on stuff “ you passed a big gold clock maybe 70’s and at the front of the same row, a doll house hutch … so cute! no wonder I can barely move around the house 😂
Because of the buying and reselling, thrift stores have caught on, so now they charge way to much for stuff which makes it more expensive for those of us who would like to have some treasures at a low price.
Yep, I've noticed that too. I don't resale, just trying to live frugally. I like to do puzzles, so I bought them from GW for three dollars then gave them back to resale. Until they doubled their prices a few weeks ago. Then I found out my public library lets you take them out for free just like a book.
ill be going to denver co with my band and ill def thrift there! metal rockers, you can find old school shirts all the time! pianos for sure! and sometimes cool guitars but hard to find one thats complete lol
Wondering if everyone is finding "Goodwill" in particular are hiking their prices ? ours locally have gotten silly with pricing. Great video, thanks. ill take this info with me next outing.
Omg, that luminary fish, I definitely would of bought that for sure… I would fill that up with soil and put some sort seeds, probably like a chia pet haha!
Don't gie a thing to good will. I worked at Goodwill for almost a year...they are a total ripoff and in no way can be considered a charity. Goodwill is morally bankrupt, that's why I left. Please do not shop there-better to shop your local yard sales, flea markets and rummage sales. Plus, anything you see at the store are the cast-offs, all the good stuff, including books, etc., goes to their online stores/auctions. They should be ashamed of the prices they charge
Can you tell some more about how you reached those conclusions? I'm curious because I get a feeling whenever I'm there, but have no cognition about why.
I’ve been a goodwill shopper, seems like forever and at least in the last three years maybe just before Covid. It started to get re-organized and skimpy. I find very little there anymore but I used to be able to go and get a whole wardrobe at one time, not anymore. Oh and by the way they put these gigantic sticks on your cart so they can keep track of you 100%. of the time It’s weird. I pretty much do my thriftiness at a local thrift store that’s like the old days and the St. Vincent Depaul‘s run by the Catholic Church, which is also like the old time goodwill. I live in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
I have been told by a friend that the top people at Goodwill make 6 figure incomes. If true, this is a real disservice to the "charity". I wish I knew what they pay their employees.
That Polar Bear at 9:53 behind the Squishmallows is from Build A Bear, and he looks like the first edition. I sold him for $80AUD not too long ago, he would've been great to pick up too
Pro tip. You bought a bunch of squishmellows. Use them to buffer delicate items in your suitcase so they're immobile. I ship glass bottles of beer back and forth all the time and I've never had a bottle break. In short, use your soft items to protect your delicates.
I collect vintage ceramic roosters 🐓 and if they have a sticker on the bottom that says 'Japan' they are worth getting because they are higher value (China labels are junk).
Always go for designer bags, vintage beauty items like small gold plated Pickett mirror or any silver pieces especially with turquoise, vintage or special Barbie dolls like Avon Barbie, general Mills Barbie. I will hold on to the Barbie to get best price.windup jewelery boxes or snow globes. Shoes especially sneakers I always try to find brand new name brand kicks, certain scarves, game systems & games are usually my first go to especially at yard sales. I used to be heavily into selling on internet sites. I even sold a five tier blockbuster gum ball machine with keys a neighbor gave it to me for free it needed some restoration but I still made $150 off it as is.I loved hustling the buying selling cool ppl I met! I do wish I still had certain things but hey,the past iss the past! Even my yard sales I'd make $500 or more sometimes less the lowest was $150. I may get back in the game???
I have a Mary Kay consultant made by Barbie from the 90’s. Still in the box I won when selling MK. No idea what to ask for it. I collected vintage Mary Kay items.
Shoes to look for.... Hoka, Altra, Kuru, AllBirds, Allen Edmonds, Zeba, Tecova, PF Flyers, Jack Purcell, Vintage USA Made ANYTHING look up. I sold a pair of 70s vintage Jack Purcell Converse for 495$
How do you manage selling on multiple platforms? Do you list each item on every platform? And then delete the extraneous listings when it's sold? If not, how do you decide which item to list on which platform? :)
I never sold anything, but something I've had luck with has been filthy dirty leather jackets, if the stitching is good, along with the zipper, I'll run them through the washing machine & hand scrub areas that aren't coming clean, & repeat until perfectly clean. They sell jeans with wear on them for big bucks, & they also sell leather jackets beat to all hell for big cash so you have two choices to refinish the leather to look like new or just coat with clear water-proofing. I've given a few away to friends & family and donated the others for the tax right off. And any leather jackets not made in a third world country or China are worth big bucks, so keep your eyes out for any made in Germany, France, England, Canada, & America etc. I also have an an extensive vintage full length wool military trench coat collection, if you see one you really like & you're thinking of getting it altered in any way, forget about it, unless you know a shop willing to work on 2 or 3 Kilo heavy & very thick wool coat ahead of time, because you'll not find one. And just something simple like dying it another color, to do it yourself you'd need a 55 gallon barrel & be able to heat it to set the color correctly. To dye it you might be best off buying cans of spray on rug dye. And to fix any rips you'll need sewing needle for repairing furniture. The only time I wear my wool trench coats is when walking my dogs in mid winter during a storm or when the temperature is well below freezing. Did wear a green one to a Philadelphia Eagles game along with heavy wool socks, wool lined leather gloves, & a fur lined leather hat ... I never got cold in the 3 hours of standing outside in 22 degrees fahrenheit windy day. Wool is amazing as bedding too.
14:30 These round paperweights can also sell for a dollar a piece. It's nice to imagine finding the expensive ones, but I have ones with frogs, fish, flowers, etc & none of them were over $3, bought brand new. I even have one with sweet little penguins inside.
Please do an episode about how you report ebay income on your taxes. I think sometimes people think it’s just cash in your pocket but there are tax implications.
I bought 3 smaller wood bowls that fit inside each other. They were wrapped with plastic tape around them so I could barely see them. They were unfinished so I put some wood oil on them. I’m keeping them for myself.
Years ago, we flew from Maine to MN to visit my SO's family. We went to the Mall of America and I found a few treasures. SOOO, I mailed my dirty laundry home with some of the unbreakable treasures and carried the breakables home in my carry on. Worked very well. I got laughed at a lot, but I was happy!
This is fun! And helpful. I tend not to go to thrift stores for profit, so my main weakness is usually just for myself or unique gifts. And that's usually mugs! Or, some cool and fun piece of clothing I like. But mostly it's trinkets and mugs. I like anything vintage (or vintage looking) or silly/so-bad-it's-good funny mugs that my friends might like. I also love finding displays for Xmas or Halloween.
I wish my Goodwill had that many hats and shoes in such good condition. I don't even look at the shoes they are always tore up. I get really good hats but the selection is small.
I roll my clothes when packing my suitcase. I have found that if I find glass items to bring home when traveling, I can just go ahead and roll them right up with my clothes, and have never had anything break! Rolling the clothes also helps pack things more tightly, which helps prevent things from moving around easily. I also have carried a small tote on the planes with my breakables wrapped in tissue paper, newspaper, clothing or whatever, and which can also fit under the seat , and have never had an issue with breakage. Hope this helps someone who may be wary of picking up some cool glassware when traveling!
Great video! I would never have thought to look at things like those glass paperweights and mugs. The tiki mugs made me laugh! The strangest thing I ever picked up that sold really well was a tiki style tumbler like you'd get a drink in at a Hawaiian themed restaurant. It was $1 and it ended up selling for $20. Those oddball items can be the just the thing people are looking for. What you could have done instead of packing stuff in a suitcase to take on the plane is to box it up and ship it home. I shipped stuff home from Disney World and it arrived safe and sound.
Hi there! I live in Denver, so I'm very happy to hear that you visited! It's such a great place 💛 Thank you for sharing all your hard won knowledge! I'm just barely getting started, so I appreciate your advice! I do have a question - at 6:41 there's a vintage type alarm clock. If you hadn't been traveling on this trip, would you have tried to re-sell that? I've read elsewhere that anything "nostalgic" can be great, & that caught my eye as "nostalgic" - even if it's newer. I'd LOVE your advice on that! Thank you!!
thank you very much, me and my wife had decided a few days ago to get into reselling, as a side hustle, and i figured i would come on here and look through the videos, mostly was reselling shoes but this video is actually what we was looking to do!
I wouldn't have passed on the Heritage Mint wood carved and painted Loon for $5.99. Crack or not, that was nice and a steal at that price. The two penguin figures were certainly worth grabbing too, even at $6.99 a piece. They add a more masculine feel to a room. Nice stuff like this is always challenging to find.
I lived in the US my whole life and now live in the UK. When I left the US five years ago it looked like so many places were starting to follow the UK model of Charity Shops. It is a double-edged sword because on one hand the money goes to charity yet it is well known that many people shop there because retail stores name brands are way too expensive! When I was on hard times they were a godsend to get me a heavier coat or gloves and such!
Our local Goodwills sell whatever they get in at ebay prices. They look up the item and mark it at the going rate. $1-2 profit isn’t worth buying, listing, and packaging.
Thats super shitty! I feel like they charge way more for certain things around me too. I'm im colorado springs, co which is 30-45 mins away from Denver and those prices seemed really good there!
Squishmallows have a MASSIVE variation to each animal released. I started reselling due to squishmallow and made great profits. The name, size, tag / family matter a lot. The pink yeti "brina" I bought 22x of them for 20ea for 12" and 22x $10ea 8" from an exclusive store in my area. Sold them on avg for 12" $70 and 8" $50 but in the beginning was getting 250 for the pair. Good times
My Aunt used to run a "antiques and Junke" store. Every year she would drive back to Illinois to visit family and check out the thrift sales. She would buy souvenir spoons and bring them back here. The tourists would then buy them and take them back east....
Pro tip for buyers and sellers: When researching what something is worth, always look at sold listings. You want to know how much people are paying for it, not how much people ask for it.
Greg, :) Thank you very much!! :)

I had just seen one of the glass paperweights you featured just this morning and after seeing your video I rushed back to goodwill and it was still there! Over 60yrs old made in Italy.

Hi!
I don’t know if someone’s already told you but the frog plush toy was sold at Ikea in the mid-late 90s. The zipper is for your child to store their pyjamas in. I still have my daughter's one in my one-day-I'm-going-to-be-a-grandmother box.❤️
Adorable!!
That’s very cool.
That's amazing good for you! I would really love to learn to sew like that. Finding anything in my size in styles I like it's hard to do! I hope to learn one day!
Too bad that thrifters steal from you and you need to resort to quilting with sheets.
Be extra cautious when shopping for items such as suitcases, purses, linens, etc. at thrift stores. Bed bugs are on the rise, and this is one way they are transmitted.
They do bug treat Items.
Cushions and linen fabric furniture etc..
Our Thrifty shops recover mattress like new.
@ I’ll have to google that, too! Thanks 😊
@@shannonbailey7580 omg! What kind of bugs!?! That freaks me out.
Videos and channels like this aren't helping anything
Our Goodwills in Ohio are ridiculous with pricing. Some items are more than retail. I refuse to even donate to them anymore.
It is worth it.those salvage people sell it on eBay.i never bid our buy higher price on eBay.i only buy movies our retail price on eBay.
I went to Goodwill this morning and their prices were so outrageous you get a better deal at Walmart.
Bye Bye GW.
My Goodwill is very expensive! The plushies range from $5-$10!
Yeah they have outgrown their britches. 2 years ago I was buying 30 pound bulk lots of pocket knives and jewelry for under 100
Now they are listing single pocket knives for 10 and 20
Because people like this gal have driven up the prices at goodwill.
Makes it look like I've not packed that much and keeps hubby from yelling at me!🤣
Wow that’s a good tip…
Thank you
What a Great tip also for traveling in general. What kind of bags would be good for this?

I went again this year (I take my grandsons back every summer at the end of the school break) I had to borrow another huge suitcase to bring all my stuff back. I definitely paid for my trip.
It’s also super fun to thrift on vacation. We found a super nice wool blanket at a thrift store in New Zealand. It was a $400 blanket.

Great questions!!
Which clearly this lady never answers. This is why she isn't getting a sub from me!
11:50 those tiny houses would be perfect for terrariums or herb gardens
That Goodwill is so nice and organized! The ones near me are horrible!
Same. Over priced junk
I LOVE thrifting in a different town, especially when im on a road trip! Its awesome to see what different towns can bring! So much fun
When you picked up the RED suitcase directly to the right was a tan leather and tweed HARTMAN suitcase, that would have been able to resell for ALOT!
👏👏👏👏
That caught my eye aesthetically and I’m glad someone else commented ! Looks from the glimpse like a beautiful item
smart. didn't think of getting an old suitcase.
I loved the frog. I think its mouth zips to put pajamas in it.
If you're a senior citizen go on that day the savings are worth it . Also Bibles sell for alot as well.
Thanks for sharing your technique and taking us along for the ride!
Did you ever get answer? I too am wondering about the new tax reporting on $600 + when before it was $20K or something to that effect?
I bought 3 smaller wood bowls that fit inside each other. They were wrapped with plastic tape around them so I could barely see them. They were unfinished so I put some wood oil on them. I’m keeping them for myself.
I can never resist thrifting on vacation! I’ve started packing a vacuum seal storage bag just in case 😅
Danielle Noll, Such a good idea! Thank you!
@@TexasGalTreasures Yes! Especially for plush. Those squishmallows live up to their name & squish down to almost nothing haha
I was getting ready to post the same advice!!! It's amazing how much you can cram into a piece of luggage using them!!!
FYI on my last flight in April I was forced to check my carry on bag. Wasn't expecting that, had a dish that was broken due to that.
Hmmm...I might have pulled it out and hand carried it on board...
I bought a new pair of Air Max @ Goodwill about 2013 & still wearing them. Very comfortable.
I love to pick up Jewelry and small pieces of hand painted art 🖼
It's such a great place 💛
Thank you for sharing all your hard won knowledge! Thank you!!
At 6:13 there a mini cabinet that if it not plastic then they can have some value for toy collectors.
I love the idea of sourcing while traveling! I travel for work and will definitely be coming home with additional bags!
thank you very much, me and my wife had decided a few days ago to get into reselling, as a side hustle, and i figured i would come on here and look through the videos, mostly was reselling shoes but this video is actually what we was looking to do!
My mother in law found a really old pyrex dish she bought for $2 and sold for $35 🤪
That is awesome!
To who? Is this real? Lol
@@UnknownName5050 I believe it was sold on Ebay
❤oh I love the frog! It has a zipper mouth so I'm thinking it would be a PJ pillow for trips to Grama's!😊
Hey, just found your channel. I'm new to reselling and love the content you tube resellers provide. I'm looking forward to learning from you 😊
The tweed suitcase beside the one you bought could have been a Hartmann, and they are worth very good money!
@@smallmevt You're blaming the resellers for higher prices set by the Goodwill stores? The GW stores that get ALL their stuff for free??
11:30 omg the wineglasses in the background. AMAZING
Good times
Jameson - 11ink, Thank you so much!
That’s amazing yeah you way to take a risk and go for it I don’t know anything about squish mellow so thanks for sharing your information 🦄
@@Timetraveler1111MN thanks, sold a mallow today for $45 paid $13.5
@jameson : what is/are Squishmallow( s)? Thank you😊 .
My Aunt used to run a "antiques and Junke" store. Every year she would drive back to Illinois to visit family and check out the thrift sales. She would buy souvenir spoons and bring them back here. The tourists would then buy them and take them back east....
