As a Prototype Fan and a infamous fan I would argue that normal electricity won’t really do much to Mercer but since Cole’s electricity is like you said strong enough to disintegrate or even vaporize organic individuals even metal, also he can shoot the same amount of speed as Mercer moves. I can see how Cole would win against Alex.

In the case of Cole his electricity is special since it’s not necessarily normal althoughhe does feed and refuel off of normal electricity. I think some people downplay Cole because they think he only shoots lighting ignoring that what his lighting can do (I've seen some people) Problem is His lighting is strong at a point that he does not shoot lighting from his hands He shoots lighting shaped nukes
It's honestly gotta be one of the great missed opportunities in gaming that there was never any kind of Prototype/Infamous crossover. I'm not sure how exactly it could've been pulled off (maybe you could alternate between playing the two different characters), obviously these are different universes, but given how popular crossovers now are, it's just a shame that it never happened. I imagine Infamous' Sony exclusivity played a part, there. Incidentally, I'm more of a fan of Prototype, but I still realised Cole would probably win. I think when these games first came out, Prototype fans (which I'd argue were more plentiful than Infamous fans due to Prototype being on multiple systems) just perceived Cole as 'slow parkour guy who shoots lightning'. I don't think they truly understood just how diverse his abilities become as those games continue.
I was gonna do my own video on this match-up, but I’m kinda glad you did it instead. Unlike a majority of videos on this site, you take proper power scaling into effect and pretty much summed up how hard Cole stomps Alex in Attack Potency, Speed, etc.. Besides, I feel like this fight is kinda overdone by now anyway, and I feel like there are better characters to put Cole up against. (In fact, the only reason I want Death Battle to do this fight is just for the animation lol) On a side note, there is one factor I wanted to consider regarding this fight that I don’t think you explicitly cover. Like you said, I’m pretty sure Cole can easily resist being consumed by Alex, since he is able to tank The Beast’s atomic-level matter deconstruction and absorption. However, could he resist actually being Infected by the Blacklight Virus itself? While Cole has resisted highly toxic and deadly substances and diseases before, most notably Sasha’s Tar, which can induce seizures on contact, transmute civilians into zombie-like creatures, and reduce soldiers to piles of mush in mere seconds. On the other hand, the Blacklight Virus is capable of producing hundreds of unique strains of itself on a daily basis, and possesses a 99.9999% mortality rate. Even assuming Cole is capable of resisting a single strain of the Virus, Mercer can produce hundreds of unique strains simultaneously. Not to mention, as seen during the second Blacklight Outbreak, he is able to emit a cloud of Blacklight from his body, which can travel fast enough to quickly infect all of Manhattan through every form of viral transmission. However, infecting Cole with the virus is really the only thing Mercer has going for him, as he literally gets stomped in every other category. So I still believe Cole takes this 99% of the time.
Likely not considering not only does the virus produce 100s of strains everyday but it’s also constantly adapting (as I’m sure you know). So Cole would just be inhaling 100s of constantly evolving strains of a virus that he would need to first adapt to before resisting. Ofc this is all assuming the battle is equal stats or at least speed, as it’s a blitz on Cole’s part.

@@janmikulic434 it still relies somewhat on durability. Alex has to beat his targets before they can be consumed, and what is consumption of bio matter anyway? It's literally eating your opponent on a molecular scale, at least that's how it's portrayed in the prototype series. So Cole who survived atomic destruction by the beast(it's atomic cuz it literally dissolved some of his conduit gene), should technically be able to survive his Biomass being absorbed by Alex
Man it would be great if these two series had a shared universe, honestly I just finished playing prototype 1 and 2 this week and had infamous vibes the whole time I was playing it. I guess I could be bias since I played infamous 1 and 2 when they originally came out and the games mostly handle the same way but I couldn't help but feel that they both had elements that hinted toward them being a shared story. I know their not and it's basically just headcanon but damn it it would be awesome if someday in the future if prototype 3 or the next infamous game comes out and they just make references to each perspective franchise I'd be happy. Damn I forgot how fun games were back then with games nowadays just being a little meh. Back in 2009 there was so much fan-talk about the desire for a shared sequel. It seemed too good that these superhero sandboxes that were original IPs came out at the same time. Would have been like printing money if they had done it.
@@DeFactoLeader yeah I would have been down for that, hell prototype 2 sold well and infamous 2 sold even better and with both games having come out within a couple of years of each other I believe it would have been an easy cash cow for them. Honestly I've always seen prototype as an M-rated version of infamous anyway so it would have been an easy transition for them if they really wanted to.

With the stats even what we know as peak Mercer could probably not beat Cole as long as he has the powers even at a minimum. Now I don't know if he can kill or destroy the virus completley unless he can do more damage than a nuke witch is possible. Then again in Prototype two Alex suddenly says that he is human when the real Alex died and he is just the virus and he knows this unless its a retcon or he just forgor.

I know some say alex would just absorb cole. Yet cole body may just fry alex like a bug zapper. Plus he has delt with mental and chemical warfare. But cole body probably holds and stores electricity like in the games. So if alex touches him. He gonna get shocked. Which may break alex's focus. Cole may struggle if alex throws vehicles or uses claws ect. Up close. Yet cole could just blast alex away and using his skills make alex just float there defying gravity. While being covered in electric bombs.. alex could maybe try to absorbe the electric or amour himself. Yet the heat and blast would still likely tear away and destroy his cells. If alex wanted to heal he have to eat some thing which draws his focus. Away from cole. Even if alex lived or tanked a lighting bolt. The question is would he tank said lighting if it was none stopped. Constantly destroying his bio mass. Sadly alex. Doesn't have a strong enough passive regeneration to heal faster then he is harmed. Also remember alex had to use vehicles and subterfuge before to win in certain fights. While cole got by on his own skills and some planning on the fly. All in all alex may injure cole but cole can heal faster then alex through electricity. Also bear in mind. Cole could possible absorb the energy in alex's cells. All that energy that allows him to move is still electricity. If the cells all just broke down/ fries or lost all energy. There a good chance alex would fall apart. Much less lose memory. As some of those cells are likely basically his brain. Damage to them would only further weaken alex. Alex may come back to life if cole dident finish him off. He could build a army or unleash his virus. Yet cole and the conduits seem immune to viruses. Sickness ect. Poisons maybe not. Again alex would be dealing with not 1 but multiple powerhouses blowing through his ranks. If alex absorbed 1 of them he may gain some powers. Yet it could be very unstable. As conduits usually draw on a source of energy. Which may confuse alex and his bio mass hunger. All in all it would be justice league and elemental vs super shape shifters. Im sure the conduits would win. If the beasts from infamous 2 are a accurate scale to the normal infantry of alex's army. Which is likely as they are both still human just enhanced. Be it greatly like the hunters or small like the near zombie normal infected. Hope this helped shed some more light on a few points.
@@kimaniHymanthe devs stated that his frame was weak to electricity and I don’t think that was ever stated in game he only gained resistance to bloodtox and never gained immunity to it which is why he isn’t immune to (gunfire,explosions,etc)

@@hammerite6418 As for James Heller's backstory, it's clear that the scientist's explosion test didn't kill him, and consuming a Blackwatch soldier only made him more resilient. Bullets? They're useless against him now. His mutation ensures they just bounce off him, and even missiles can't bring him down.
And in that isn't even considering just how much Cole can slow down his perception of time like in the coles power vid it's most likely that Cole isn't moving at light speed to dodge the RFI's radiation blast its more likely that we just don't see how much coles is "slowing" his time down by overcharging his body to the point that the RFI blast is perceivable and can then dodge it.
_The only time he slows time is when he uses his perception ability. Dodging an attack requires you to move as fast or faster, so perception ≠ speed. Cole was moving near light speed even with your interpretation assumed true._

I don’t agree. I think Cole is wanked. Physical strength and speed goes to Alex as Alex can bust through thick steel in P1 while Cole has nothing close in physical strength. Cole will rely on his lightning which struggles to do damage to the beast who was completely vaporized by a nuke. Given Alex has since become greater than the supreme hunters who were confident about surviving a super nuke, Alex should be able to survive repeated attacks from Cole. Even if he was put on the back foot, Alex can just use critical mass to get in close. Alex’s physical speed is much greater which can allow him to easily close the distance and do many different things to Cole whether that’s cutting him up and consuming him or infecting him and making Cole struggle to walk let alone fight. And Cole may have greater attack speed but that’s not gonna be enough to win as all of his reaction speeds are akin to aim dodging while already in motion when being fired at by another human. These variables need to be taken into account when calculating Coles speed but nobody ever does. With this Alex has way more advantages. Honestly it just comes down to if you buy the higher scaling for Infamous. And given how most people are split on the matchup you can understand why this isn’t a mismatch at all. Basically the only place I ever see this higher scaling is vs battle wiki which I personally don’t trust as a reliable source plus A lot of people like to take things out of context for both characters. Like people still believe Alex is weak to electric attacks. That is not the case. So yeah in no way is this a mismatch
that's the thing, the higher scaling for infamous is iffy and not consistent at all with what he does on a regular basis. The video heavilty implies that cole is facing the same beast from kesslers timeline whos much stronger than anything ever seen in the series. And another thing to note, is that most of the beasts city level feats are not instant, but are overtime, it even gets damaged by nukes weaker than what mercer took at the end of prototype 1, but in the video he skims over these facts and somehow gives cole the benefit of the doubt hat he can do it. Cole barely won the beast, who was barely city level by the infamous 2, which doesnt spell well for cole's feats at all when they somehow get him to continental
There is a feat people tend to forget for Cole, which is that he had the power to charge the RFI himself, (which while he didn’t in Infamous 2, was only because he was going to burn it out because it’s power regulator was broken) that caused a blast that spanned the surface of the planet.

Alex would just adapt to Cole's lightning and adapt through everything he throws at him, then rip him a new one. This isn't a mismatch. The nuke may have put him down the first time, I doubt it would do it again.
True. The Blacklight Virus is highly adaptable and would find a way to grown resistance to it which will take time and being able to adapt to anything that can harm him biologically.

Tho I agree with Cole winning (somewhat) I would like to correct somethings. Mercer's speed. Mercer is actaully at least massively hypersonic level if not higher. He can react to Greene's burst of bio electricity. While she also shoots out balls of radiation which if we highly upscale that would mean Alex is maching Cole with SoL speed if not FTL speeds. And Heller in PT2 can react cassaully go grenades which is calced at mach 190 correct me if I am wrong. And in the third mission of PT2 Heller is able to percive explosions in slow mo. Which explosions traveling at 1700 or 3000 m/s at a high end. IDK how to calc this correctly myself so correct the math if you know how to. So Heller is able to see them in I think like 3000.0.1 or 0.09 their speed so I will calc here where I scale this 1700/0.1 now if we say Alex can run at actaully like 1931.2128 km/h (for context Tim Benison said that Mercer is faster then all vehicles in game which includes the f-35 figher jets on the carrier against the Hunter) 17000x536.44800 meter/s (I am saying 536.m/s because that is how many meters per second 1931.2128 km/h is) 9119616 meters per second or 32 830 617.6 km/h or 20,400,000 Miles per Hour, mach 30909.090909 or sub reletivistic in the upper ranges. For the lowest low end. Now for the mid end of 4000/0.1=40000x564.225778=22569031.12 m/s or 81 248 512 km/h (50 485 484.8 for those of you who are not american or don't use the metric system... Which is just saying "not american" twice.) mach 76493.158741 or sub reletivistic (in the higher ranges) and Alex should be at least moderately stronger then a fucking...(LOL) Early or mission 3 game Heller, given how he just... 2 Tapped a mid game Heller and mached a end game Heller blow for Blow. For strengh: Mercer is actaully at least in the city level ranges. Cause in PT1 there is a entire thermobaric warehouse in mission I think 3 or 4 (The mission where you get the claws for those who don't know) Alex goes from being ragdolled by the hunters to taking on hordes of them. In the mission's end where you blow up the building there are numerious thermobaric canisters that blow up and numerious explosions including the building. Now a single thermobaric eplosive is in the like 44 kiloton range. So I think it is safe to assume that the warehouse of them that exploded that Alex actaully like tanked was at least like 200 kilotons. Now Mercer did get a lot stronger by this mission (I will be using multiplayers from here on to really scale Mercer up so if you don't like Mercer being above town level in the early game just skip this) now Mercer like around I think 2-3 times stronger in this mission alone. Since he went from being ragdolled by the hunters to taking on hordes and hordes of them in the same mission by just consuming 1 and then gaining more and more power by consuming more and more. Now I will say Mercer got 10 times stronger from this till like the mid game. So Mercer in the mid Game should be like 2 megatons easily at least in base. Now Musclemass is stated to double his power like 2 fold. And on it's second upgrade it says it tripples it, then on it's third and final upgrade it says it "greatly increaes it" so I will just say either 4 or 5 times his base strengh (if you dissagree... Well IDK can't prove me wrong as did you talk to the author and get a offical multi of the final upgrade of musclemass) now the blade is stated like the most powerful and the devastators are stated beyond that even. For context it's the prima guide that says this. Now I will assume the blade is 6-8 times his base power level and the devastators are 8-10 times base. Now I will say that Mercer in the end-game got like 10 times stronger again since Mercer did actaully surrpass the previous level of power the Supreme Hunter had in their previous match which was stated that the Supreme Hunter was drastically stronger then Alex. So end-game PT1 Alex is 200 megatons according to my calcs in base (If you dissagree feel free to debunk them. Like I ain't got at gun point) now for Musclemass he should be at like 800 megatons low balled (4 times base power) and 1000 megatons with the high end of Musclemass. For the blade I will say he is 1200 megatons or 1.2 gigatons (power scaling wise 7-A Mountain using the 6 times base calc) his devastator should be at 1600 megatons or 1.6 gigatons. Again Mountion level. For the high end they are respectively 1000 (musclmass x5 boost) 1600 (blade x8 boost) 2000 megatons (devastator) now this is just PT1 Alex. Also Alex's durability actaully massively like outways his strengh level BTW. For PT2 the main reason people say that consuming the 9 (it's 9 actually. Shots are not very consistant some shots even show 11 evolved. I just went with what was most consistant as in 9) gave him a 9 times boost is because the evolved are just as strong if not stronger then his PT1 Version.) and PT2 Alex should be stronger then his PT1 Version by no small amount as the evolved remark on how they get stronger with age and evolve more and more. And the virus does produce hunreds of strains on a daily basis that evolve again and again. So it is not exegaration to say Mercer should be around 5 times stronger if not wayyyy more then 10 times since he was effectively on a Zyzz motivation grind for more then a year (PT2 Takes place 1 year and 2 months later/14 months later) so I am going to say that Mercer is at 1000 megatons in base in PT2 or 1 gigaton in PT2. In the large mountion level ranges. So if we say he got like 9 time stronger then like his base self when he consumed the evolved he will be at 9 gigatons and combine with the blade and hypothetical devastators he should be in the island levels. And on his haxs I think Alex should win a good bit more haxs. Since like Alex is pretty hax based. As consumption does not really like matter manipulate you from what I know. They more or less just asimulate you and change the body in to like a part of Alex's biomass or change what the body should think and think that Mercer's body is a part of it. Even just like a small bit of biomass can give Mercerlike the powers of those his fighing like look at the juggernauts and brawlers leader Hunters etc. Like he don't consume each molecule of them he just consumes a small part and they give him like his powers and memorys. But yeah I think like Cole can win I don't think it is just as cut and dry as many people believe. I think Either Mercer or Cole can win. It just seems way more likely that way the way I scale either of them. This video doesn't really go much into what would make Mercer more powerful other than the nuke topic (which they make it seem like surviving a nuke is nothing) Don't get me wrong, I like Cole, however this guy really pushes Coles entire argument as being "Cole can shoot lightning" which he actually can't. He also never mentions gameplay and barely talks about powers (Coles channels electricity, he doesn't shoot lightning, his powers are kinda slow and it takes multiple hits to kill a human) Mercer can shrug off bullets like nothing, and toss tanks at helicopters, he also has an armour ability that would protect him.
You are looking at gameplay mechanics. Mercer can die by bullets if we go by that route. And both cole and mercer are stronger lore wise. Example: cole harming the beast who is superior to mercer. surviving the nuke is nothing because mercer was far awayyyyyyyyy from it,needed biomass to heal and he got reduced to nothing by it. And even if you want to say mercer tanked the nuke is still nothing.Cole tanked a superior blast at the start if the game and that feat is superior because he was face to face to the explosion unlike mercer who was flying away
@@longblack666 ok dude, the reason why Cole's electricity don't down or kill an enemy in one shot is due to the game mechanics weakening Cole to be playable and not be overpowered so players can have fun. Sure Alex can shrug off bullets but the guns he gets shot at with seem weaker than the guns Cole gets shot at with by design. Alex's strongest attacks can take out tanks and choppers while his devastators destroy buildings like hives and military bases, making look weaker than Cole's ionic powers.

I’ve never seen this VS before. Alex Mercer deserves another game. I personally didn’t enjoy the second Prototype as much as I did the first one. I loved the super human aspect, parkour at 100 MPHS down the city streets, dive bombing off sky scrapers, tossing tanks, whip lashing to helicopters, absorbing freaks. Man Alex was a Beast. I think Cole could wreak Alex in terms of attack power and attacks all being heavy hitters. But if Alex gets anywhere near Cole I think it’s over for sure. And if Alex could use his shield 🛡 or Armor state could tank some lightning bolts. I mean we saw punks and ghouls take plenty of shots from Cole before dying. I think Alex has a bit more durability than you’re giving him credit for. Alex has plenty of options in his arsenal to get an advantage on Cole. He has his shape shifting, his whips to get in close, razed claws to go through the ground or possibly walls. His giant sword would butcher Cole. No question. I don’t necessarily disagree with saying Cole would win. But I don’t feel like either of you guys really went into depth on either characters. I mean Cole is a monster all around but he’s not an insta kill kinda guy (depending on karma as well) and not all of his attacks will work. And I don’t think Cole has fought any one other than Kessler with a range of abilities that Alex has. I mean Alex is built different. And forgive me if I’m wrong but you mention Alex being severely damaged out racing a NUKE but then barely give any durability feat for Cole in any manner that is close at all. Like even the edges of nukes are massively damaging to literally anything. Cole’s only chance at all would be if he could change himself into pure energy or something move fast enough to out race the blast.
This would be one heck of a fight but Cole would win hands down. It would be evenly matched at first but eventually Cole would start to wreck mercer bit by bit, until he worked him down. Plus mercer doesn't have the endurance that Cole does, Cole can always recharge and get back to full health whereas mercer has to heal over time and isn't a fast process. Mercer would keep coming back to life but Cole would keep frying him. There is nothing that Alex has that can save him from an ionic storm from Cole.

I’m simply disagreeing, I think people scaling Cole > Alex is incorrect; and would like to debate any who thinks that. I don’t know how presenting two characters with one having higher quantified feats is fanboying; if you can’t debunk the calcs then Cole is factually far more powerful than Alex. Alright... I'm a big fan of both games, though I didn't care for Second Son. I'm a big fan of Prototype and Alex Mercer as a character. But I can concede that Cole seems to have an answer for everything that Alex could bring to the table. Cole could fry Alex with pinpoint accuracy, shooting bolts of electricity that could quite feasibly vaporize him on the spot. Sure, in the actual videogame, you take a few hits from an AK-47 and die like a bitch, which is kind of a buzz kill on the power fantasy lol. And sure, in the game, you can't even outrun a car going maybe 20 miles an hour. But numbers are numbers. It's such a weird clash of gameplay and lore. Based on nothing but gameplay, Cole has never seemed all that impressive. But now I have a new perspective. What helps for me is thinking of it as a comic book match up, and not a gameplay matchup. Where the characters are as strong as the writers say they are. Then all the pieces fall into place. All that said, I think Alex would make for a terrifying villain in the inFamous world. Sure, he'd probably not do well in a head to head fight with Cole, or any conduit in general. But personally I've always thought his truest strength as a character would be in his infiltration skills and potential for espionage. He's a nearly perfect chameleon that could become potentially anybody. That's a scary power for any antagonist to have, and one that Cole would have to adapt to in order to properly combat. Their real battle would be a game of cat and mouse.

Basically the only thing even worth considering in this match-up seems to be that Cole can outright tank a much higher level of explosive force and radiation, but I personally disagree with this. I feel like an argument should be made that it's absolutely unfair to compare the Ray Sphere to the Nuke. Firstly, the Ray Sphere doesn't scale directly with a nuke in terms of damage to a person seeing as it would be at once revitalising and empowering a Conduit, rather than just outright damaging them. Secondly, the Ray Sphere destroyed a few square city blocks. The Nuke was supposed to flatten all of Manhattan. Surviving in the epicentre of a blast which is actively giving you powers and making you stronger *while* hurting you is impressive, but not as impressive as surviving the shockwave and fireball of a nuke, even if you're not on top of the bomb and have "cover" in the form of a vehicle. But, anyway, I feel like there should be a definite point to be made that explosive force, regardless, is not the same thing as immense physical force behind a blade. Cole can tank a lot of stuff but fiery explosions around the body is just a completely different kind of damage than super strength focussed on a single point. Conduits heal quite damned fast, yes, but the difference between them is just that. If Cole is shot in the head or decapitated or cut in half or whatever, he's done. Over. Alex, purely for drama's sake, allowed his skull to remain blasted open after he was shot just to scare someone. His head being completely blasted open is not at all something which seems to at all physically or mentally impair him. And if he is decapitated, lmao okay, so what? Unless he's already on death's door from extraordinary damage and is too weak to regenerate in the first place, wounds dealt to Alex that would be mortal to Conduits won't slow him down. Also, a lot of people take gameplay into account for Cole, but strangely not Alex. Cole can dodge lightning and so he's put at the necessary speed in arguements, even though the lightning in game travels noticeably slowly, even though his powers should grant him a measure of foresight towards incoming electrical attacks thus meaning he's not PURELY reacting to them. But, on the flipside, Alex also dodges lightning-like attacks in the Elizabeth Greene bossfight, who shoots green static orbs as one of her main attacks. Alex straight up outruns them if he tries to, but THEY are ALWAYS argued to not be as fast as should be implied. Anyway, in conclusion, this match-up is one that's so widely looked at probably because despite power-level differences, both characters could feasibly have a shot at each other depending entirely on circumstances. If Cole spots Alex and blasts him apart a few times over, eventually Alex's regeneration will fail and he'll stay dead, whether biomass reaches him or not. On the other hand, Alex can easily get to Zeke first, disguise himself as a friend, and as soon as Cole drops his guard, Alex could just decapitate him from behind -- if bullets can pierce and hurt Cole's body, then Alex can absolutely cut him easily. Alex's blade can slice right through heavily armoured tanks, after all. I hate loving both of these characters and being unable to just be biased one way or the other. The fact of the matter is if both are let loose in a fight, 100 times over, it's EASILY possible that either character could win 50/50.

The only way your point could work is if 'revitalizing' meant healing, but we know that isn't true either bc the ray sphere only activated the conduit gene. Otherwise John wouldn't be incinerated into atoms via the RS exploding on him._
Don't forget about Cole's Radar ability which allows him to scan an entire city blocks for electrical sources, which includes people, with this he can also sense hostile intent coming from someone which would help him see right through any of Alex's disquises.

Like if we imply that Cole dodging lightning blasts means he moves faster than ACTUAL lightning, then we have to say the same about Alex, who dodges Elizabeth Greene's lightning orbs in her bossfight regularly. Also Alex is just outright faster than Cole; Cole runs about the speed of a normal person in gameplay. Alex Mercer crosses Central Park (2.5 miles) in about 47 seconds at his fastest, meaning a top speed of almost 300mph. Travel speed and combat speed are different. Yadda yadda. Alex is way tougher than Cole and heals way better. Cole outputs far more raw destructive force with his lightning. Anyone's fight. Run it 100 times and it's entirely possible that the win ratio will be split 50/50
@@hoominbeeing The fight really comes up to circumstance mostly. In a close quarters fight Alex most likely wins 9/10 times, because he can almost certainly kill Cole outright in one hit with his bladed weapons, like the Claws, Whipfist or the Blade itself. He's also physically strong enough to kill any normal human and low-level infected in one normal hit, and can use Muscle Mass to outright double his strength, which lets him turn a normal human into a puddle. I don't have the know-how to explain how much batshit-insane levels of physical strength it takes to punch someone in the chest, and turn their ENTIRE BODY into a puddle of blood. Needless to say, it's way, WAY more physical strength than Cole has. Even at the height of his power in Infamous 2, Cole is reduced to mortal danger and imminent death in one direct hit from a rocket launcher. Alex (on top of being able to flip to his feet before even hitting the ground after being hit by TANK shells a dozen times over) can absolutely hit Cole way harder than a rocket can. On the flipside, Cole's lightning can definitely output a TON of damage, and Alex wouldn't survive forever under that onslaught. But he could also probably escape from Cole, because he moves across the crowded and similar cityscapes as Cole, only WAY FASTER, and I don't think Cole really has any way of discovering Alex once he is disguised, because he is indistinguishable from a regular human unless a being is specifically able to track the Blacklight Virus. Alex routinely just *walks into* military bases which are secured with DNA locks, and no-one is ever able to tell. In fact, the only reason that another character in Prototype learns that Alex can so easily bypass biological detection like this is because *_Alex outright states it_* and the character was shocked to learn it. But Cole has a myriad of different powers, and things like the Ionic Storm would melt Alex down with prolonged exposure. BUT, given that I've replayed Prototype like 12 times since I made the original comment, I also have to point out that Alex can survive being hit by Thermobaric Missiles, which are quite literally "small nukes". And unlike Cole, who actually reacts to pain and damage, Alex doesn't slow down or lose power at all as he grows weaker. He only really "stops" when he dies, or when he is right about to die. So if Cole expends everything he has in mortally wounding Alex, there's no guarantee of winning, because Cole is borderline defenceless without energy. When Cole has no energy left, it doesn't just come back; he needs to find a source to recharge from, and that takes a precious few seconds. In that time, he could completely lose Alex and then the fight will start all over again later. Or, you know, Cole would die as soon as his energy is at zero. Alex, without the use of his transformative powers, can still crush tanks and kick helicopters out of the sky. In fact, the *_very first_* show of strength Alex makes is catching a taxi and throwing it physically at a helicopter; after said helicopter had hit Alex directly in the back with a missile, and barely slowed him down. So, if Cole has ample resources and a good city block or two between them, he could very definitely pull out the win by melting Alex down enough that he can't regenerate anymore. But truth be told, given the stuff we see Blacklight Beings regenerate from and how fast Alex moves, they're borderline immortal unless consumed by another Blacklight Being. On the flipside, Alex would almost always secure the win if he gets within a few dozen metres, with his numerous powers likely scoring the kill in only a couple hits. He can reach his top speed of about 300mph~ in as little as five seconds from a standing position, so... Cole can't outrun Alex. Cole can't survive physical strikes from Alex. Cole would have a very hard time actually stopping Alex from closing the distance. And in melee, he couldn't hurt Alex at all. So. To be honest. It should be clear cut. Cole is a power house, there's no doubt about it, but he simply and unfortunately has a regular body structure and has, for lack of better wording, a much easier time dying. Like, genuinely, if Cole was sitting in a bar drunk and not paying attention, and a regular dude with a pistol popped him in the back of the head, that would be it. There's nothing else to it; he's dead now. If Alex was sitting around not paying attention and someone shot him in the back of the head, the bullet may not even cause damage, and instead crumble against his skin. And even if it did cause visible damage, he'd just kill the guy while the back of his skull hung open just for dramatic effect, because it wouldn't actually threaten him at all. Conduit regeneration is strong but it's also just not in the same league as Alex. We never see Cole or other conduits getting shot in more immediately vital areas like the head or neck in terms of cutscenes or whatever; and in fact, one of the few times I remember conduits getting genuinely clearly shot in a cutscene, it's in Second Son, so I'm not even gonna bring it up beyond that. And in game even on Normal, IE the difficulty that feats and ability should be based off, Cole can't take more than a dozen or so shots from most ordinary gun-toting enemies before he dies. Alex, at his weakest point in the entirety of his existence, didn't stay down for more than a couple seconds after a four-man firing squad lit him up for about four or five solid seconds, which is way more than a dozen bullets. And in actual gameplay, it takes like a dozen soldiers firing with rifles for about the same number of seconds to make any real dent in your health bar, even at the start of the game. So, rather than about a 50/50 win ratio if the fight ran 100 times, I would more generously put the fight to like 85/15 in Alex's favour, entirely dependant on circumstances. Assuming they're both in neutral and familiar ground to them both, like Manhattan/Empire City, and not factoring in direct weaknesses like a power outage for Cole, a lack of people for Alex, water (Cole dies in water in seconds and Blacklight is not waterborne, meaning that Alex is likely also broken down by water over time, but it should be noted that he is not physically hurt by it in game.) or any other direct counters to either party's powers. In neutral grounds, with no direct advantages or disadvantages to either side, Alex wins the majority of the time. If there's a power outage, Cole will never win. If they're in an area with tons of power and no people, Alex wins slightly less often, but truth be told he doesn't NEED to consume people to heal, it's just faster.

Now let's talk about the SOL version of Cole which is Cole at the end of the game dodging Nix when she uses the RFI which shoots out a literally beam of light which has the properties of light and moves like it so definitely faster than a bullet and as for strength Alex hasnt tanked an attack anywhere higher than city level and that's literally Cole's durability in the first game at the VERY beginning. So Cole is faster and more Durable. Final point is you're claiming nothing can kill him that would be what we call a No Limits fallacy or NLF because just because it didnt work in his series doesnt mean it wont work in other series.
@@collinthesage7436 In combat, both men never give each other the opportunity to use destructive powers unless one of them is seriously injured. Alex is much stronger physically than Cole, and he is nothing if he is. It has a very high repair capability. If Cole is close to Mercer, Cole has little chance of being against Mercer because Mercer can use the power of the devastator and cause serious damage to Cole. Unless Cole damages Mercer remotely with lightning, I said that Alex has a lot of self-healing ability, and if lightning damages him, he heals quickly. In general, Cole doesn't have much of a chance against Alex.

Delsin is a Power Thief. If he can manage to defeat Augustine (I think that’s her name) with her own power that she has 7 years of experience, while Delsin just an Hour of him having it, not only he can steal powers, but also “absorb” experience to put it simply. Given that Cole has defeated himself who is a time traveler and who has 100+ years of experience, Delsin can absorb his powers and be more experienced than Cole. Not to Mention that if they both manage to survive a Nuke Attack, Delsin still has the upper hand since he has earth and Concrete to regenerate health and gain powers, while Cole is stricted to regenerate his powers through electricity.

Cole didn't tank the raysphere blast. That's a myth. There is an unburnt circle where Cole was laying, showing that the raysphere generated a field of barrier to protect him from the harmful effects of the blast. Even if that barrier wasn't there, infamous 2 shows that conduits such as nix was near the blast and Bertrand was at the epicenter and yet both survived with no damage at all. Conduit are genetically dispositioned to surviving a raysphere blast,like how a fallout supermutant is genetically immune to nuclear radiation. The raysphere cole had at the time was a faulty prototype known to malfunction and kill the user much like it did to john. It wasn't the raysphere itself that damaged cole, but the malfunction itself, which couldn't have been even a fraction of what john went through Also, alex doesn't need to consume to heal, thats also a myth. He can heal without consumption, it just takes far longer. Had the bird not been there after the nuke, he still would have fully regenerated, just at a considerable slower rate. He even has buyable upgrade doing just this.
I'm not sure about it bc gameplay mechanics aren't equal to the lore and we never saw him losing too much biomass except that, not to mention that the doctor who helped Heller in Prototype 2, was screaming to James "consume them if you want to live", when Heller was heavily damaged, and the said Heller had the same set of powers as Alex. Perhaps he had less at this point tho but noneless
First off heller would have been better competition, more resilient dna better than alex in every sense, stronger and rips through tanks and helicopters like butter endgame heller after consuming alex would put up a good fight, his use of speed the ability to parry and deflect with his shield and bio bombs from a distance would be tough for cole. Cole is often hurt by bullets other projectiles from mutants and even the environment. All of which heller can shrug of like rain. I don't think cole has any answers for if heller closes the gap and sticks some biomass in him to make him explode or cut his flesh and consume him. I think it comes down to who tags who first. Cole still has to physically aim then strain and call his lightning down and heller would be constantly moving throwing biobombs getting ever closer. Could go either way.
Gameplay in that sense isn't canon, you can just stand around and let yourself get killed by fodder in any video game. It's nonsensical to try to use that to scale characters. In cutscenes and lore inFAMOUS is just vastly more powerful than Prototype.

And at the end of the day your comparing video game characters yeah what hurts them should be taken with a pinch of salt but game feats still count damage an all. My point is coles damage output is high but durability is lacking and if we assume heller can replicate elizabeth greenes feats as well as all of alex's plus his endgame one he's a walking juggernaut. So cole has to land a hit and make it count and heller has to close the distance its a coin toss 50/50.

If we compile statements from the prototype games we know hellers durability to be city level, heres how in the first game alex was obliterated by the nuke we know he didn't tank it however the supreme hunter stated once i consume you i'll be able to survive even this. Since heller was already more durable than alex and consumed him and by extension elizabeth greene as well as all the biomass within manhattan i doubt that nuke would damage him anywhere near as much. Including greene feats in prototype 1 to wrap herself in that goliath like construct that was immune to all the army was throwing at it as well as shoot out viral matter and shockwaves it stands to reason that heller can replicate all the boss feats we saw ingame casually. We know from coles fight with david warner in the comics enough blunt force is enough to subdue cole. Heller can replicate warner level strength. Plus the viruses ability to break down matter on contact means all it takes is the closed gap i previously stated. Who ever lands the hit first demolishes the other. Plus it depends on where, a highly populated area with conduit dna available heller takes it like a kid in a candy store. A open field im leaning towards cole.
In a head to head match cole could likely obliterate mercer in 2 to 3 shots but alex has absorbed many military personal and scientists so do you think alex's intelligence could change the outcome?
Cole likely edges out in that aspect too, considering that after he soundly defeats Kessler who has entire centuries worth of experience and then some on his belt, all of Kesslers memories are implanted within Cole's mind after he defeated the former.
Battle effectively becomes who can one-shot the other first. Based on Cole's reaction speed, he has the advantage. I would not call this a mismatch since Alex could potentially defeat Cole with his resourcefulness. Alex definitely would make for a powerful villain in the infamous verse though.

Cole gets hurt by gunfire, trains and water. There's only a few conduits who even come close to cole in reaction speed and attack potency. Cole, The Beast and Delsin are top tiers in their verse. Durability isn't always consistent for either fighter. I don't see how you can lowball alex to fodder conduit level. I'm wayyy more of an infamous fanboy, but I won't downplay Alex's strengths.

@@CRISIS_COMICS in infamous 1, cole got hurt by a suicide bomber who blew up the grid. I don't really believe cole has a special durability against blades. It's like MGS4, Raiden can tank the entire whole of outer haven crushing him, but he gets easily stabbed by 1 vampy boy and haven troops. Alex mercer wins by shapeshifting body parts into weapons. Mercer's durability and speed are the deciding factors here. He can take quite a bit of what Cole can dish out, and he's fast enough to be hard to hit besides. Cole meanwhile lacks Mercer's mobility and a good hit with the sword arm will straight up end him. And there are the powers that he can do with his eyes to track him down where he mercer will win and Cole has the mismatch

As a Prototype Fan and a infamous fan I would argue that normal electricity won’t really do much to Mercer but since Cole’s electricity is like you said strong enough to disintegrate or even vaporize organic individuals even metal, also he can shoot the same amount of speed as Mercer moves. I can see how Cole would win against Alex.
Cole's lightning scales to the Beast who has far better feats than Alex, also even irl lightning travels faster than Alex's best reaction feats. Glad you agree with the outcome.

In the case of Cole his electricity is special since it’s not necessarily normal althoughhe does feed and refuel off of normal electricity. It's honestly gotta be one of the great missed opportunities in gaming that there was never any kind of Prototype/Infamous crossover. I'm not sure how exactly it could've been pulled off (maybe you could alternate between playing the two different characters), obviously these are different universes, but given how popular crossovers now are, it's just a shame that it never happened. I imagine Infamous' Sony exclusivity played a part, there.
Incidentally, I'm more of a fan of Prototype, but I still realised Cole would probably win. I think when these games first came out, Prototype fans (which I'd argue were more plentiful than Infamous fans due to Prototype being on multiple systems) just perceived Cole as 'slow parkour guy who shoots lightning'. I don't think they truly understood just how diverse his abilities become as those games continue.

I was gonna do my own video on this match-up, but I’m kinda glad you did it instead. Unlike a majority of videos on this site, you take proper power scaling into effect and pretty much summed up how hard Cole stomps Alex in Attack Potency, Speed, etc.. Besides, I feel like this fight is kinda overdone by now anyway, and I feel like there are better characters to put Cole up against. (In fact, the only reason I want Death Battle to do this fight is just for the animation lol)
On a side note, there is one factor I wanted to consider regarding this fight that I don’t think you explicitly cover. Like you said, I’m pretty sure Cole can easily resist being consumed by Alex, since he is able to tank The Beast’s atomic-level matter deconstruction and absorption. However, could he resist actually being Infected by the Blacklight Virus itself?
While Cole has resisted highly toxic and deadly substances and diseases before, most notably Sasha’s Tar, which can induce seizures on contact, transmute civilians into zombie-like creatures, and reduce soldiers to piles of mush in mere seconds. On the other hand, the Blacklight Virus is capable of producing hundreds of unique strains of itself on a daily basis, and possesses a 99.9999% mortality rate. Even assuming Cole is capable of resisting a single strain of the Virus, Mercer can produce hundreds of unique strains simultaneously.
Not to mention, as seen during the second Blacklight Outbreak, he is able to emit a cloud of Blacklight from his body, which can travel fast enough to quickly infect all of Manhattan through every form of viral transmission.
However, infecting Cole with the virus is really the only thing Mercer has going for him, as he literally gets stomped in every other category. So I still believe Cole takes this 99% of the time.
Likely not considering not only does the virus produce 100s of strains everyday but it’s also constantly adapting (as I’m sure you know). So Cole would just be inhaling 100s of constantly evolving strains of a virus that he would need to first adapt to before resisting. Ofc this is all assuming the battle is equal stats or at least speed, as it’s a blitz on Cole’s part.

While I think cole wins it doesnt make sense for him to Just resist Alex consuming him as it doesnt mater how durable you are since alex consumtion relys on how much biomass you have not durability. At least im prety sure But I coud be wrong had been a while since I played prototype.
@@janmikulic434 it still relies somewhat on durability. Alex has to beat his targets before they can be consumed, and what is consumption of bio matter anyway? It's literally eating your opponent on a molecular scale, at least that's how it's portrayed in the prototype series. So Cole who survived atomic destruction by the beast(it's atomic cuz it literally dissolved some of his conduit gene), should technically be able to survive his Biomass being absorbed by Alex

Man it would be great if these two series had a shared universe, honestly I just finished playing prototype 1 and 2 this week and had infamous vibes the whole time I was playing it. I guess I could be bias since I played infamous 1 and 2 when they originally came out and the games mostly handle the same way but I couldn't help but feel that they both had elements that hinted toward them being a shared story. I know their not and it's basically just headcanon but damn it it would be awesome if someday in the future if prototype 3 or the next infamous game comes out and they just make references to each perspective franchise I'd be happy. Damn I forgot how fun games were back then with games nowadays just being a little meh. Great videos guys and hope to see more from ya, sorry for the long comment but after playing the games again and you guys doing a verses battle it got me feeling nostalgic lol.

Back in 2009 there was so much fan-talk about the desire for a shared sequel. It seemed too good that these superhero sandboxes that were original IPs came out at the same time. Would have been like printing money if they had done it.

Honestly I've always seen prototype as an M-rated version of infamous anyway so it would have been an easy transition for them if they really wanted to.

With the stats even what we know as peak Mercer could probably not beat Cole as long as he has the powers even at a minimum. Now I don't know if he can kill or destroy the virus completley unless he can do more damage than a nuke witch is possible. Then again in Prototype two Alex suddenly says that he is human when the real Alex died and he is just the virus and he knows this unless its a retcon or he just forgor.

It would be a epic fight but feel like Cole in the End will win due to how fast he can heal and when it comes to raw power cole definitely has the upper hand since he can literally absorb from the city and even people to if necessary. Evil cole would be the best version for this battle
I know some say alex would just absorb cole. Yet cole body may just fry alex like a bug zapper. Plus he has delt with mental and chemical warfare.
But cole body probably holds and stores electricity like in the games. So if alex touches him. He gonna get shocked. Which may break alex's focus. Cole may struggle if alex throws vehicles or uses claws ect. Up close. Yet cole could just blast alex away and using his skills make alex just float there defying gravity. While being covered in electric bombs.. alex could maybe try to absorbe the electric or amour himself. Yet the heat and blast would still likely tear away and destroy his cells.
If alex wanted to heal he have to eat some thing which draws his focus. Away from cole.
Even if alex lived or tanked a lighting bolt. The question is would he tank said lighting if it was none stopped.
Constantly destroying his bio mass. Sadly alex. Doesn't have a strong enough passive regeneration to heal faster then he is harmed.
Also remember alex had to use vehicles and subterfuge before to win in certain fights. While cole got by on his own skills and some planning on the fly.
All in all alex may injure cole but cole can heal faster then alex through electricity.
Also bear in mind. Cole could possible absorb the energy in alex's cells. All that energy that allows him to move is still electricity. If the cells all just broke down/ fries or lost all energy. There a good chance alex would fall apart. Much less lose memory. As some of those cells are likely basically his brain. Damage to them would only further weaken alex.
Alex may come back to life if cole dident finish him off. He could build a army or unleash his virus. Yet cole and the conduits seem immune to viruses. Sickness ect. Poisons maybe not. Again alex would be dealing with not 1 but multiple powerhouses blowing through his ranks.
If alex absorbed 1 of them he may gain some powers. Yet it could be very unstable. As conduits usually draw on a source of energy. Which may confuse alex and his bio mass hunger.
All in all it would be justice league and elemental vs super shape shifters.
Im sure the conduits would win. If the beasts from infamous 2 are a accurate scale to the normal infantry of alex's army. Which is likely as they are both still human just enhanced. Be it greatly like the hunters or small like the near zombie normal infected.

@@hammerite6418 As for James Heller's backstory, it's clear that the scientist's explosion test didn't kill him, and consuming a Blackwatch soldier only made him more resilient. Bullets? They're useless against him now. His mutation ensures they just bounce off him, and even missiles can't bring him down.
And in that isn't even considering just how much Cole can slow down his perception of time like in the coles power vid it's most likely that Cole isn't moving at light speed to dodge the RFI's radiation blast its more likely that we just don't see how much coles is "slowing" his time down by overcharging his body to the point that the RFI blast is perceivable and can then dodge it.
_The only time he slows time is when he uses his perception ability. Dodging an attack requires you to move as fast or faster, so perception ≠ speed. Cole was moving near light speed even with your interpretation assumed true._

I don’t agree. I think Cole is wanked. Physical strength and speed goes to Alex as Alex can bust through thick steel in P1 while Cole has nothing close in physical strength. Cole will rely on his lightning which struggles to do damage to the beast who was completely vaporized by a nuke. Given Alex has since become greater than the supreme hunters who were confident about surviving a super nuke, Alex should be able to survive repeated attacks from Cole. Even if he was put on the back foot, Alex can just use critical mass to get in close. Alex’s physical speed is much greater which can allow him to easily close the distance and do many different things to Cole whether that’s cutting him up and consuming him or infecting him and making Cole struggle to walk let alone fight. And Cole may have greater attack speed but that’s not gonna be enough to win as all of his reaction speeds are akin to aim dodging while already in motion when being fired at by another human. These variables need to be taken into account when calculating Coles speed but nobody ever does. With this Alex has way more advantages. Honestly it just comes down to if you buy the higher scaling for Infamous. And given how most people are split on the matchup you can understand why this isn’t a mismatch at all. Basically the only place I ever see this higher scaling is vs battle wiki which I personally don’t trust as a reliable source plus A lot of people like to take things out of context for both characters. Like people still believe Alex is weak to electric attacks. That is not the case. So yeah in no way is this a mismatch
that's the thing, the higher scaling for infamous is iffy and not consistent at all with what he does on a regular basis. The video heavilty implies that cole is facing the same beast from kesslers timeline whos much stronger than anything ever seen in the series. And another thing to note, is that most of the beasts city level feats are not instant, but are overtime, it even gets damaged by nukes weaker than what mercer took at the end of prototype 1, but in the video he skims over these facts and somehow gives cole the benefit of the doubt hat he can do it. Cole barely won the beast, who was barely city level by the infamous 2, which doesnt spell well for cole's feats at all when they somehow get him to continental
There is a feat people tend to forget for Cole, which is that he had the power to charge the RFI himself, (which while he didn’t in Infamous 2, was only because he was going to burn it out because it’s power regulator was broken) that caused a blast that spanned the surface of the planet.

Delsin Is superior, especially thanks to his hax, he is literally firing lasers (neon) from his finger tips, which Heller can’t even react to and his attacks can oneshot heller.
Tho I agree with Cole winning (somewhat) I would like to correct somethings.
Mercer's speed. Mercer is actaully at least massively hypersonic level if not higher. He can react to Greene's burst of bio electricity. While she also shoots out balls of radiation which if we highly upscale that would mean Alex is maching Cole with SoL speed if not FTL speeds.
And Heller in PT2 can react cassaully go grenades which is calced at mach 190 correct me if I am wrong. And in the third mission of PT2 Heller is able to percive explosions in slow mo. Which explosions traveling at 1700 or 3000 m/s at a high end. IDK how to calc this correctly myself so correct the math if you know how to. So Heller is able to see them in I think like 3000.0.1 or 0.09 their speed so I will calc here where I scale this 1700/0.1 now if we say Alex can run at actaully like 1931.2128 km/h (for context Tim Benison said that Mercer is faster then all vehicles in game which includes the f-35 figher jets on the carrier against the Hunter) 17000x536.44800 meter/s (I am saying 536.m/s because that is how many meters per second 1931.2128 km/h is) 9119616 meters per second or 32 830 617.6 km/h or 20,400,000 Miles per Hour, mach 30909.090909 or sub reletivistic in the upper ranges. For the lowest low end. Now for the mid end of 4000/0.1=40000x564.225778=22569031.12 m/s or 81 248 512 km/h (50 485 484.8 for those of you who are not american or don't use the metric system... Which is just saying "not american" twice.) mach 76493.158741 or sub reletivistic (in the higher ranges) and Alex should be at least moderately stronger then a fucking...(LOL) Early or mission 3 game Heller, given how he just... 2 Tapped a mid game Heller and mached a end game Heller blow for Blow.
For strengh:
Mercer is actaully at least in the city level ranges. Cause in PT1 there is a entire thermobaric warehouse in mission I think 3 or 4 (The mission where you get the claws for those who don't know) Alex goes from being ragdolled by the hunters to taking on hordes of them. In the mission's end where you blow up the building there are numerious thermobaric canisters that blow up and numerious explosions including the building. Now a single thermobaric eplosive is in the like 44 kiloton range. So I think it is safe to assume that the warehouse of them that exploded that Alex actaully like tanked was at least like 200 kilotons. Now Mercer did get a lot stronger by this mission (I will be using multiplayers from here on to really scale Mercer up so if you don't like Mercer being above town level in the early game just skip this) now Mercer like around I think 2-3 times stronger in this mission alone. Since he went from being ragdolled by the hunters to taking on hordes and hordes of them in the same mission by just consuming 1 and then gaining more and more power by consuming more and more. Now I will say Mercer got 10 times stronger from this till like the mid game. So Mercer in the mid Game should be like 2 megatons easily at least in base. Now Musclemass is stated to double his power like 2 fold. And on it's second upgrade it says it tripples it, then on it's third and final upgrade it says it "greatly increaes it" so I will just say either 4 or 5 times his base strengh (if you dissagree... Well IDK can't prove me wrong as did you talk to the author and get a offical multi of the final upgrade of musclemass) now the blade is stated like the most powerful and the devastators are stated beyond that even. For context it's the prima guide that says this. Now I will assume the blade is 6-8 times his base power level and the devastators are 8-10 times base. Now I will say that Mercer in the end-game got like 10 times stronger again since Mercer did actaully surrpass the previous level of power the Supreme Hunter had in their previous match which was stated that the Supreme Hunter was drastically stronger then Alex. So end-game PT1 Alex is 200 megatons according to my calcs in base (If you dissagree feel free to debunk them. Like I ain't got at gun point) now for Musclemass he should be at like 800 megatons low balled (4 times base power) and 1000 megatons with the high end of Musclemass. For the blade I will say he is 1200 megatons or 1.2 gigatons (power scaling wise 7-A Mountain using the 6 times base calc) his devastator should be at 1600 megatons or 1.6 gigatons. Again Mountion level.
For the high end they are respectively 1000 (musclmass x5 boost) 1600 (blade x8 boost) 2000 megatons (devastator) now this is just PT1 Alex. Also Alex's durability actaully massively like outways his strengh level BTW.
For PT2 the main reason people say that consuming the 9 (it's 9 actually. Shots are not very consistant some shots even show 11 evolved. I just went with what was most consistant as in 9) gave him a 9 times boost is because the evolved are just as strong if not stronger then his PT1 Version.) and PT2 Alex should be stronger then his PT1 Version by no small amount as the evolved remark on how they get stronger with age and evolve more and more. And the virus does produce hunreds of strains on a daily basis that evolve again and again. So it is not exegaration to say Mercer should be around 5 times stronger if not wayyyy more then 10 times since he was effectively on a Zyzz motivation grind for more then a year (PT2 Takes place 1 year and 2 months later/14 months later) so I am going to say that Mercer is at 1000 megatons in base in PT2 or 1 gigaton in PT2. In the large mountion level ranges. So if we say he got like 9 time stronger then like his base self when he consumed the evolved he will be at 9 gigatons and combine with the blade and hypothetical devastators he should be in the island levels.
And on his haxs I think Alex should win a good bit more haxs. Since like Alex is pretty hax based. As consumption does not really like matter manipulate you from what I know. They more or less just asimulate you and change the body in to like a part of Alex's biomass or change what the body should think and think that Mercer's body is a part of it. Even just like a small bit of biomass can give Mercerlike the powers of those his fighing like look at the juggernauts and brawlers leader Hunters etc. Like he don't consume each molecule of them he just consumes a small part and they give him like his powers and memorys.
But yeah I think like Cole can win I don't think it is just as cut and dry as many people believe. I think Either Mercer or Cole can win. It just seems way more likely that way the way I scale either of them.
So if you dissagree on my reasoning or just want to send me death threats cause I am more then aware of the fact I said that Mercer can beat Cole and now people will try to hang me for just saying that (LOL) but yeah that is all from me essentailly.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cole, however this guy really pushes Coles entire argument as being "Cole can shoot lightning" which he actually can't.
He also never mentions gameplay and barely talks about powers (Coles channels electricity, he doesn't shoot lightning, his powers are kinda slow and it takes multiple hits to kill a human)
Mercer can shrug off bullets like nothing, and toss tanks at helicopters, he also has an armour ability that would protect him.
You are looking at gameplay mechanics. Mercer can die by bullets if we go by that route. And both cole and mercer are stronger lore wise. Example: cole harming the beast who is superior to mercer.

@@longblack666 ok dude, the reason why Cole's electricity don't down or kill an enemy in one shot is due to the game mechanics weakening Cole to be playable and not be overpowered so players can have fun. Sure Alex can shrug off bullets but the guns he gets shot at with seem weaker than the guns Cole gets shot at with by design.
Alex's strongest attacks can take out tanks and choppers while his devastators destroy buildings like hives and military bases, making look weaker than Cole's ionic powers.

Look I like Cole, love the infamous series, however Mercer is just far more superior in almost every aspect and the only reason Mercer was killed in P2 was due to a different writing team and the fact they felt nobody like Mercer because he wasn't an anti hero, just a selfish person.

I’ve never seen this VS before. Alex Mercer deserves another game. I personally didn’t enjoy the second Prototype as much as I did the first one. I loved the super human aspect, parkour at 100 MPHS down the city streets, dive bombing off sky scrapers, tossing tanks, whip lashing to helicopters, absorbing freaks. Man Alex was a Beast.
I think Cole could wreak Alex in terms of attack power and attacks all being heavy hitters. But if Alex gets anywhere near Cole I think it’s over for sure. And if Alex could use his shield 🛡 or Armor state could tank some lightning bolts. I mean we saw punks and ghouls take plenty of shots from Cole before dying. I think Alex has a bit more durability than you’re giving him credit for.
Alex has plenty of options in his arsenal to get an advantage on Cole. He has his shape shifting, his whips to get in close, razed claws to go through the ground or possibly walls. His giant sword would butcher Cole. No question.
I don’t necessarily disagree with saying Cole would win. But I don’t feel like either of you guys really went into depth on either characters. I mean Cole is a monster all around but he’s not an insta kill kinda guy (depending on karma as well) and not all of his attacks will work. And I don’t think Cole has fought any one other than Kessler with a range of abilities that Alex has. I mean Alex is built different.
And forgive me if I’m wrong but you mention Alex being severely damaged out racing a NUKE but then barely give any durability feat for Cole in any manner that is close at all. Like even the edges of nukes are massively damaging to literally anything. Cole’s only chance at all would be if he could change himself into pure energy or something move fast enough to out race the blast.

This would be one heck of a fight but Cole would win hands down. It would be evenly matched at first but eventually Cole would start to wreck mercer bit by bit, until he worked him down. Plus mercer doesn't have the endurance that Cole does, Cole can always recharge and get back to full health whereas mercer has to heal over time and isn't a fast process. Mercer would keep coming back to life but Cole would keep frying him. There is nothing that Alex has that can save him from an ionic storm from Cole.
_The fight would start with Cole shooting a lightning bolt faster than Alex Mercer can react & the AP from the bolt would incinerate Mercer. One shot and speed blitz._

Alright... I'm a big fan of both games, though I didn't care for Second Son. I'm a big fan of Prototype and Alex Mercer as a character. But I can concede that Cole seems to have an answer for everything that Alex could bring to the table.
Cole could fry Alex with pinpoint accuracy, shooting bolts of electricity that could quite feasibly vaporize him on the spot. Sure, in the actual videogame, you take a few hits from an AK-47 and die like a bitch, which is kind of a buzz kill on the power fantasy lol. And sure, in the game, you can't even outrun a car going maybe 20 miles an hour.
But numbers are numbers.
It's such a weird clash of gameplay and lore. Based on nothing but gameplay, Cole has never seemed all that impressive. But now I have a new perspective. What helps for me is thinking of it as a comic book match up, and not a gameplay matchup. Where the characters are as strong as the writers say they are. Then all the pieces fall into place.
All that said, I think Alex would make for a terrifying villain in the inFamous world. Sure, he'd probably not do well in a head to head fight with Cole, or any conduit in general. But personally I've always thought his truest strength as a character would be in his infiltration skills and potential for espionage. He's a nearly perfect chameleon that could become potentially anybody. That's a scary power for any antagonist to have, and one that Cole would have to adapt to in order to properly combat. Their real battle would be a game of cat and mouse.

Basically the only thing even worth considering in this match-up seems to be that Cole can outright tank a much higher level of explosive force and radiation, but I personally disagree with this. I feel like an argument should be made that it's absolutely unfair to compare the Ray Sphere to the Nuke. Firstly, the Ray Sphere doesn't scale directly with a nuke in terms of damage to a person seeing as it would be at once revitalising and empowering a Conduit, rather than just outright damaging them. Secondly, the Ray Sphere destroyed a few square city blocks. The Nuke was supposed to flatten all of Manhattan. Surviving in the epicentre of a blast which is actively giving you powers and making you stronger *while* hurting you is impressive, but not as impressive as surviving the shockwave and fireball of a nuke, even if you're not on top of the bomb and have "cover" in the form of a vehicle.
But, anyway, I feel like there should be a definite point to be made that explosive force, regardless, is not the same thing as immense physical force behind a blade. Cole can tank a lot of stuff but fiery explosions around the body is just a completely different kind of damage than super strength focussed on a single point. Conduits heal quite damned fast, yes, but the difference between them is just that.
If Cole is shot in the head or decapitated or cut in half or whatever, he's done. Over.
Alex, purely for drama's sake, allowed his skull to remain blasted open after he was shot just to scare someone. His head being completely blasted open is not at all something which seems to at all physically or mentally impair him. And if he is decapitated, lmao okay, so what? Unless he's already on death's door from extraordinary damage and is too weak to regenerate in the first place, wounds dealt to Alex that would be mortal to Conduits won't slow him down.
Also, a lot of people take gameplay into account for Cole, but strangely not Alex. Cole can dodge lightning and so he's put at the necessary speed in arguements, even though the lightning in game travels noticeably slowly, even though his powers should grant him a measure of foresight towards incoming electrical attacks thus meaning he's not PURELY reacting to them. But, on the flipside, Alex also dodges lightning-like attacks in the Elizabeth Greene bossfight, who shoots green static orbs as one of her main attacks. Alex straight up outruns them if he tries to, but THEY are ALWAYS argued to not be as fast as should be implied.
Anyway, in conclusion, this match-up is one that's so widely looked at probably because despite power-level differences, both characters could feasibly have a shot at each other depending entirely on circumstances. If Cole spots Alex and blasts him apart a few times over, eventually Alex's regeneration will fail and he'll stay dead, whether biomass reaches him or not. On the other hand, Alex can easily get to Zeke first, disguise himself as a friend, and as soon as Cole drops his guard, Alex could just decapitate him from behind -- if bullets can pierce and hurt Cole's body, then Alex can absolutely cut him easily. Alex's blade can slice right through heavily armoured tanks, after all.
I hate loving both of these characters and being unable to just be biased one way or the other. The fact of the matter is if both are let loose in a fight, 100 times over, it's EASILY possible that either character could win 50/50.

The only way your point could work is if 'revitalizing' meant healing, but we know that isn't true either bc the ray sphere only activated the conduit gene. Otherwise John wouldn't be incinerated into atoms via the RS exploding on him._
Don't forget about Cole's Radar ability which allows him to scan an entire city blocks for electrical sources, which includes people, with this he can also sense hostile intent coming from someone which would help him see right through any of Alex's disquises.

And also I don't know enough about biology to say it reliably, but Alex's body isn't made up of the normal stuff, and I really don't think he has traditional brain waves and nerve signals, given that he's just a mass of raw virus impersonating a human. That might still give him away, I suppose.
But, hey, I've said it before in other places so I'll say it again; the intent of the gameplay is important. Like if we imply that Cole dodging lightning blasts means he moves faster than ACTUAL lightning, then we have to say the same about Alex, who dodges Elizabeth Greene's lightning orbs in her bossfight regularly. Also Alex is just outright faster than Cole; Cole runs about the speed of a normal person in gameplay. Alex Mercer crosses Central Park (2.5 miles) in about 47 seconds at his fastest, meaning a top speed of almost 300mph.
Travel speed and combat speed are different. Yadda yadda. Alex is way tougher than Cole and heals way better. Cole outputs far more raw destructive force with his lightning.
Anyone's fight. Run it 100 times and it's entirely possible that the win ratio will be split 50/50
@@hoominbeeing The fight really comes up to circumstance mostly. In a close quarters fight Alex most likely wins 9/10 times, because he can almost certainly kill Cole outright in one hit with his bladed weapons, like the Claws, Whipfist or the Blade itself. He's also physically strong enough to kill any normal human and low-level infected in one normal hit, and can use Muscle Mass to outright double his strength, which lets him turn a normal human into a puddle.
I don't have the know-how to explain how much batshit-insane levels of physical strength it takes to punch someone in the chest, and turn their ENTIRE BODY into a puddle of blood. Needless to say, it's way, WAY more physical strength than Cole has.
Even at the height of his power in Infamous 2, Cole is reduced to mortal danger and imminent death in one direct hit from a rocket launcher. Alex (on top of being able to flip to his feet before even hitting the ground after being hit by TANK shells a dozen times over) can absolutely hit Cole way harder than a rocket can.
On the flipside, Cole's lightning can definitely output a TON of damage, and Alex wouldn't survive forever under that onslaught. But he could also probably escape from Cole, because he moves across the crowded and similar cityscapes as Cole, only WAY FASTER, and I don't think Cole really has any way of discovering Alex once he is disguised, because he is indistinguishable from a regular human unless a being is specifically able to track the Blacklight Virus. Alex routinely just *walks into* military bases which are secured with DNA locks, and no-one is ever able to tell. In fact, the only reason that another character in Prototype learns that Alex can so easily bypass biological detection like this is because *_Alex outright states it_* and the character was shocked to learn it.
But Cole has a myriad of different powers, and things like the Ionic Storm would melt Alex down with prolonged exposure. BUT, given that I've replayed Prototype like 12 times since I made the original comment, I also have to point out that Alex can survive being hit by Thermobaric Missiles, which are quite literally "small nukes".
And unlike Cole, who actually reacts to pain and damage, Alex doesn't slow down or lose power at all as he grows weaker. He only really "stops" when he dies, or when he is right about to die. So if Cole expends everything he has in mortally wounding Alex, there's no guarantee of winning, because Cole is borderline defenceless without energy. When Cole has no energy left, it doesn't just come back; he needs to find a source to recharge from, and that takes a precious few seconds. In that time, he could completely lose Alex and then the fight will start all over again later.
Or, you know, Cole would die as soon as his energy is at zero. Alex, without the use of his transformative powers, can still crush tanks and kick helicopters out of the sky. In fact, the *_very first_* show of strength Alex makes is catching a taxi and throwing it physically at a helicopter; after said helicopter had hit Alex directly in the back with a missile, and barely slowed him down.
So, if Cole has ample resources and a good city block or two between them, he could very definitely pull out the win by melting Alex down enough that he can't regenerate anymore. But truth be told, given the stuff we see Blacklight Beings regenerate from and how fast Alex moves, they're borderline immortal unless consumed by another Blacklight Being. On the flipside, Alex would almost always secure the win if he gets within a few dozen metres, with his numerous powers likely scoring the kill in only a couple hits. He can reach his top speed of about 300mph~ in as little as five seconds from a standing position, so...
Cole can't outrun Alex. Cole can't survive physical strikes from Alex. Cole would have a very hard time actually stopping Alex from closing the distance. And in melee, he couldn't hurt Alex at all.
So. To be honest. It should be clear cut.
Cole is a power house, there's no doubt about it, but he simply and unfortunately has a regular body structure and has, for lack of better wording, a much easier time dying. Like, genuinely, if Cole was sitting in a bar drunk and not paying attention, and a regular dude with a pistol popped him in the back of the head, that would be it. There's nothing else to it; he's dead now.
If Alex was sitting around not paying attention and someone shot him in the back of the head, the bullet may not even cause damage, and instead crumble against his skin. And even if it did cause visible damage, he'd just kill the guy while the back of his skull hung open just for dramatic effect, because it wouldn't actually threaten him at all.
Conduit regeneration is strong but it's also just not in the same league as Alex. We never see Cole or other conduits getting shot in more immediately vital areas like the head or neck in terms of cutscenes or whatever; and in fact, one of the few times I remember conduits getting genuinely clearly shot in a cutscene, it's in Second Son, so I'm not even gonna bring it up beyond that. And in game even on Normal, IE the difficulty that feats and ability should be based off, Cole can't take more than a dozen or so shots from most ordinary gun-toting enemies before he dies.
Alex, at his weakest point in the entirety of his existence, didn't stay down for more than a couple seconds after a four-man firing squad lit him up for about four or five solid seconds, which is way more than a dozen bullets. And in actual gameplay, it takes like a dozen soldiers firing with rifles for about the same number of seconds to make any real dent in your health bar, even at the start of the game.
So, rather than about a 50/50 win ratio if the fight ran 100 times, I would more generously put the fight to like 85/15 in Alex's favour, entirely dependant on circumstances. Assuming they're both in neutral and familiar ground to them both, like Manhattan/Empire City, and not factoring in direct weaknesses like a power outage for Cole, a lack of people for Alex, water (Cole dies in water in seconds and Blacklight is not waterborne, meaning that Alex is likely also broken down by water over time, but it should be noted that he is not physically hurt by it in game.) or any other direct counters to either party's powers.
In neutral grounds, with no direct advantages or disadvantages to either side, Alex wins the majority of the time. If there's a power outage, Cole will never win. If they're in an area with tons of power and no people, Alex wins slightly less often, but truth be told he doesn't NEED to consume people to heal, it's just faster.

Alex is much stronger physically than Cole, and he is nothing if he is. It has a very high repair capability. If Cole is close to Mercer, Cole has little chance of being against Mercer because Mercer can use the power of the devastator and cause serious damage to Cole. Unless Cole damages Mercer remotely with lightning, I said that Alex has a lot of self-healing ability, and if lightning damages him, he heals quickly. In general, Cole doesn't have much of a chance against Alex.

Delsin is a Power Thief. If he can manage to defeat Augustine (I think that’s her name) with her own power that she has 7 years of experience, while Delsin just an Hour of him having it, not only he can steal powers, but also “absorb” experience to put it simply.
Given that Cole has defeated himself who is a time traveler and who has 100+ years of experience, Delsin can absorb his powers and be more experienced than Cole. Not to Mention that if they both manage to survive a Nuke Attack, Delsin still has the upper hand since he has earth and Concrete to regenerate health and gain powers, while Cole is stricted to regenerate his powers through electricity.

Cole didn't tank the raysphere blast. That's a myth. There is an unburnt circle where Cole was laying, showing that the raysphere generated a field of barrier to protect him from the harmful effects of the blast. Even if that barrier wasn't there, infamous 2 shows that conduits such as nix was near the blast and Bertrand was at the epicenter and yet both survived with no damage at all. Conduit are genetically dispositioned to surviving a raysphere blast,like how a fallout supermutant is genetically immune to nuclear radiation. The raysphere cole had at the time was a faulty prototype known to malfunction and kill the user much like it did to john. It wasn't the raysphere itself that damaged cole, but the malfunction itself, which couldn't have been even a fraction of what john went through
Also, alex doesn't need to consume to heal, thats also a myth. He can heal without consumption, it just takes far longer. Had the bird not been there after the nuke, he still would have fully regenerated, just at a considerable slower rate. He even has buyable upgrade doing just this.
I'm not sure about it bc gameplay mechanics aren't equal to the lore and we never saw him losing too much biomass except that, not to mention that the doctor who helped Heller in Prototype 2, was screaming to James "consume them if you want to live", when Heller was heavily damaged, and the said Heller had the same set of powers as Alex. Perhaps he had less at this point tho but noneless

First off heller would have been better competition, more resilient dna better than alex in every sense, stronger and rips through tanks and helicopters like butter endgame heller after consuming alex would put up a good fight, his use of speed the ability to parry and deflect with his shield and bio bombs from a distance would be tough for cole. Cole is often hurt by bullets other projectiles from mutants and even the environment. All of which heller can shrug of like rain. I don't think cole has any answers for if heller closes the gap and sticks some biomass in him to make him explode or cut his flesh and consume him. I think it comes down to who tags who first. Cole still has to physically aim then strain and call his lightning down and heller would be constantly moving throwing biobombs getting ever closer. Could go either way.
Gameplay in that sense isn't canon, you can just stand around and let yourself get killed by fodder in any video game. It's nonsensical to try to use that to scale characters. In cutscenes and lore inFAMOUS is just vastly more powerful than Prototype.

And at the end of the day your comparing video game characters yeah what hurts them should be taken with a pinch of salt but game feats still count damage an all. My point is coles damage output is high but durability is lacking and if we assume heller can replicate elizabeth greenes feats as well as all of alex's plus his endgame one he's a walking juggernaut. So cole has to land a hit and make it count and heller has to close the distance its a coin toss 50/50.

Just like Alex. Unless they're all bullet level because they'll die to militia if they stand still in gameplay LMAO. Zeus is Skeleton with bow and arrow level since they can kill Kratos in gameplay, and Kratos can then kill Zeus in cutscenes; it just doesn't work.

If we compile statements from the prototype games we know hellers durability to be city level, heres how in the first game alex was obliterated by the nuke we know he didn't tank it however the supreme hunter stated once i consume you i'll be able to survive even this. Since heller was already more durable than alex and consumed him and by extension elizabeth greene as well as all the biomass within manhattan i doubt that nuke would damage him anywhere near as much. Including greene feats in prototype 1 to wrap herself in that goliath like construct that was immune to all the army was throwing at it as well as shoot out viral matter and shockwaves it stands to reason that heller can replicate all the boss feats we saw ingame casually. We know from coles fight with david warner in the comics enough blunt force is enough to subdue cole. Heller can replicate warner level strength. Plus the viruses ability to break down matter on contact means all it takes is the closed gap i previously stated. Who ever lands the hit first demolishes the other. Plus it depends on where, a highly populated area with conduit dna available heller takes it like a kid in a candy store. A open field im leaning towards cole.

Not really as Intelligence is like only advantage Alex holds here and Cole would likely kill him before Alex's intelligence starts to matter
Think about it like a grizzly bear vs Human yes human is smarter but Bear can basically oneshot him easily
Cole likely edges out in that aspect too, considering that after he soundly defeats Kessler who has entire centuries worth of experience and then some on his belt, all of Kesslers memories are implanted within Cole's mind after he defeated the former.

Battle effectively becomes who can one-shot the other first. Based on Cole's reaction speed, he has the advantage. I would not call this a mismatch since Alex could potentially defeat Cole with his resourcefulness. Alex definitely would make for a powerful villain in the infamous verse though.
Alex is far too weak and slow to pose a threat, it is a mismatch and Alex would get dog walked by any relevant Conduit in inFAMOUS.

Cole gets hurt by gunfire, trains and water. There's only a few conduits who even come close to cole in reaction speed and attack potency. Cole, The Beast and Delsin are top tiers in their verse. Durability isn't always consistent for either fighter. I don't see how you can lowball alex to fodder conduit level. I'm wayyy more of an infamous fanboy, but I won't downplay Alex's strengths.

@@CRISIS_COMICS in infamous 1, cole got hurt by a suicide bomber who blew up the grid. I don't really believe cole has a special durability against blades. It's like MGS4, Raiden can tank the entire whole of outer haven crushing him, but he gets easily stabbed by 1 vampy boy and haven troops. I'm not arguing against cole winning, but i just want to say it isn't a stomp. Alex consumed an innumerable amount of people and has access to all that brain power, I'm sure that'll at least allow him to contend against him.

Alex mercer wins by shapeshifting body parts into weapons. Mercer's durability and speed are the deciding factors here. He can take quite a bit of what Cole can dish out, and he's fast enough to be hard to hit besides. Cole meanwhile lacks Mercer's mobility and a good hit with the sword arm will straight up end him. And there are the powers that he can do with his eyes to track him down where he mercer will win and Cole has the mismatch
