- All the “performance” mods and parts are starting to finally come together for the Gen 1 50cc Maddog 139QMB. A lot of these GY6 mods tend to build on each other and this is a good example. The Polini 95mm Variator that had slowed me down before is now increasing my top speed and my acceleration. All the engine parts on it right now to get this speed total $481.66. I still have the rear end gear up mod and the 21mm PWK left to do as I try and get 55mph. I don’t have links as they constantly go dead, but search these below in the list of parts to find them on Amazon and EBay:
• Naraku 100.52 Big Bore Kit
• 64mm Rocker Arms
• Nibbi PE19
• Nibbi Flange Adapter
• Polini Variator #241.647
• NCY High Performance Cam
• GY6 150cc Aluminum Intake Manifold
• 50mm Cone Air Filter

I have a built tao tao 50 with a cheap glixal setup. I also just recently bought a Maddog and am waiting on my naruku bbk to show up after seeing your videos on that. I really enjoy your content, humor, and scientific but fun approach. Keep the videos coming, man 👍🏻👍🏻
It's coming along nicely. I like the clean look of everything being powder coated white. Mine is painted a deep metallic red but because it just says "red" on the title there's no fancy name to it. So I can paint it any shade of red under the sun and not have to worry about legal bs because I decided to change the color. I have many plans for mine but they're going to have to wait for when I can make them happen. :)
Yep, you either have time or money, but never both.
@@GhettoWrench Indeed. I couldn't agree more.
Awesome video!!
Thanks!
Thank you again. Very useful to see your analysis.
Your really killing it on these videos. Bravo
Thanks man. I'm just watching yours to learn this stuff and repeating it😆
@@GhettoWrench your style and production quality is top notch
@scooterarmy thanks bud 😊
Glad I found your video, I have a maddog trike with 171cc big bore kit for the 150cc, you are helping me understand gearing, rollers and jets better
@billbritton6081 thanks so much
Love the content so hard to find videos on mad dogs. I used to be a builder back when the Gen ones came out. Have you tried the ncy final drive gear set yet?
That's my next video. 😆 waiting to get it.
one step at a time, one step.
Baby steps. LOL
I'm glad I found your channel. My mods/upgrades are almost identical. Will be on Maui for the coming week so starting my new engine will have to wait. I stagger the variator weights until I arrive at an rpm or speed that I like but go by seat of the pants feel and gps speed runs. Where can I get the app that you are using for testing? Thanks again for a great informational/educational video!
It is called "Drag Racer" in the app store. icon is just the letters DR. Ya after I do the tops speed stuff for gee wiz factor, I usually tune it back to heavier weights so I like the feel and sacrifice some top speed.
Throw sum heavier valve springs in it. And maybe bump up the compression to help out on that top end
I have a whole video on that. Also the 20/23 mm head has heavier springs than both the NCY and Taida. I would have to use 150cc springs. But they would actually slow me down. Too much drag. I am only turning 8000 rpm. Until you get above 10k rpm the heavy valve springs will work against you. If I bump compression with no head gasket or shaving head it will roll the cam back as the chain becomes "longer" and retard cam timing. It will feel faster because of the dip in the power curve, but will actually get slower with that mod.
Great video! Im working on the same project with the exact same results. I think we must change the cdi from a 150 scooter to let the bike go significantly faster. but its a very risky swap. Ive heard the timing can be way off and wrecking the engine.
The 150 CDI and the 50 CDI are identical I think. Just my suspicion. I have a new blue racing CDI and a NCY "150" CDI and the Glixel orange 150/50 CDI. I am going to do a test on all these. I wanted to make sure the bike was running top speed before that test. I did actually calibrate the timing on that pickup for another project and the mechanical timing is onlt 30 degrees advanced so that gives zero room for an advance map. Prob why aftermarket CDIs always go slower in all my 150cc tests.
@@GhettoWrench thanks for your response. Im looking forward for the test results. my next upgrade will be a better carb. I want to have a little quicker throttle response.
@MrQ_Cruz I ended up going back to the PWK cause it matched the bike better. LOL. It is identical to the Nibbi 19 as far as performance goes. The PWK was harder to dial in though.
On my 125cc I got more top end when I went up on the needle actually with the clip on the bottom slot it had more torque but bogged out a lil in 3rd gear gotta fight thru it then I put the clip on the 2nd slot it cleared it all up nibbi 24mm 115/ 48 jets
Ya I need to mess around with that some more. Still ain't smooth. Thanks
I'm a bit new to the whole modification scene or making mopeds and scooters better but I'm going to some to keep up and I'd like to know what app you are using to track the data and speed?
Called Drag Racer and icon is a DR
Thank you
Put that 21 flat slide on it
You are getting ahead of me. LOL. Im gonna do that after I watch the gear up kit fail. Gear up kit gets here today, but working nights so maybe I will put it in tomorrow.
I got a 150cc maddog, it goes maybe ab 54mph, got any mod recommendations? i would love to get my hands on it to get it faster
Have you seen all my 150 videos? I have all the steps and what each mod does all tje way to 70mph
@@GhettoWrench havent checked them out, your channel just popped up on my feed, will def check you out tho, appreciate you man
I'm runnin a 72cc, just put in a new 727mm belt and front variator (same size as stock), and an unrestriccted variator bushing, now i'm hitting 6mph slower on hills. Any idea why?
When did slow down? After the belt change? Or after doing all that stuff? Ate you sure the belt you took out was a 727? This was not a maddog was it?
@@GhettoWrench nope, a kymco super 8 so a long qmb139. I changed them all at once, old belt was a 732. new belt is 737, theres a typo on my comment lol. I was wondering if the new variator front end is a bit heavier? so the old rollers are now a tad too heavy. not sure though
@djilu9916 that longer belt probably geared you up so you are lugging down up those hills. See if you like the shorter belt better.
@@GhettoWrench Thanks! i gotta try that
@@GhettoWrench are there any other meta for mountain areas than lighter rollers? the hills here in the Alps are insane lol
You should have purchased a 150. My 150 does 60 mph
LOL. I have 2 150s. One does 70 and the other is faster. It's on nitrous
Why u tryna go so fast bud running from ghosts lol
1st come 1st serve. Early bird catches the worm. All sorts of reasons 😄
