    Hi, welcome to ShuoshuoChinese 说说中文; my name is Shuo, I’m a native Chinese teacher living in Bangkok, Thailand, I’ve been teaching Chinese as a foreign language for seven years and I’m also a language learner.
    In this channel, I will upload a weekly video, in which I talk about Chinese vocabulary, Chinese grammar, Chinese culture, Chinese stories with pinyin and the English translation for listening practice.
    With my channel, you can easily start to learn and understand complicated Chinese grammar, sentence structure, and differences/nuances between similar Chinese words.
    If you are a Chinese beginner, I’m planning to upload videos about what Chinese language is, how it differs from English, Chinese pronunciations, Chinese characters and Chinese stroke sequences and a mini Chinese course, (10 minutes per day), which can help you learn quickly and easily. Don’t miss it!
    So, subscribe to my channel and start your Chinese learning journey!

      I'm Chinese-American and only knew 1, maybe 1.5 of these. My mom left China in 1990, and my stepdad in the early 80's, so most of their knowledge of the Chinese language is from the pre-Internet days, as is mine. I know a lot of Chinese from shows and books, but I prefer period dramas and wuxia novels, and I don't use Chinese forums, so...

    That was a treat to see you both together on one 'show', you were both speaking very fast and enjoying each other's conversation. I like your videos when you involve other people because there is a feeling to the way everyone talks to each other that is missing in the 'normal' teaching videos. You two are so awesome, keep up the great work.

    What a coincidence! Yesterday I just noticed too many viewer commented "卡" at the comment section when watching Taiwan actor live video, and I was like, what is the meaning of "card" here? What are they trying to say? Now thanks to your video, the mystery solved. 😂

    So is writing "卡" in comments kind of like when people write "following" or "F" in comments?

    • @hawks3109
      @hawks3109 3 роки тому +8

      I got that too, but I think F usually refers to showing respects. I haven't' seen it often for following but I see it a lot when someone does something embarrassing or something

    • @namedrop721
      @namedrop721 3 роки тому +2

      ‘Following’ is exactly the same.
      But ‘F’ started/became a joke on internet forum Reddit, as fake respect for the event or person who died/fought gf/was told off by their boss-but acknowledging we all just want to follow the awful/crazy/gossip story.
      Similar but one’s a joke acknowledging people are lame. It’s out of fashion now whereas ‘following’ continues.

    • @hawks3109
      @hawks3109 3 роки тому

      @@namedrop721 interesting, I've never seen F used that way. Of course I'm on gamer streams mostly so that's probably why. So 卡 would be like F in some ways, but could not be used like F is in every way (because of the joke part of it). Is that more accurate?

    AWESOME video! Thank you so much! One thing though...what is up with saying "slangs" (slang with an s)? Is this Chinglish or do some native speakers use slangs as the plural form? In America, and in my experience, we always say slang or slang words. For example, "I never expected our Internet slang to be so different." "I never expected our Internet slang words to be so different." Not a huge deal. Just something I find interesting. Thank you again :)

      You are correct on that here's the odd part when it comes to writing the Hong Kong and the Macanese understand the Taiwanese written text but not the spoken language. Hong Kong Macau Cantonese language Taiwan is Mandarin. In the aviation circles including here on UA-cam you will find a hong konger actually replying to a Taiwanese person In text but not spoken

    you guys are great. you know? When Grace talks to Shuo her accent changes from standard mandarin to something that sounds much more southern. it's still mando but it sounds a lot like canto: though, i speak no hokkien. well, where's the accent from?

      i mean “pretty usual” as in “fairly common”. I guess when talking casually you’re less likely to focus on speaking very standard Mandarin. For example at around 8:34 or so Grace pronounces 其他 almost as one sound, which is typical in Taiwanese accents.
