I have to say that with all the videos on CLT, yours came off the most genuine. You came off very authentic and honest, which was refreshing. As someone who lived in CLT back in 2013, left.. and now possibly relocating back, and just trying to get as much info as possible on what's new and everything and it was nice watching a video that was giving very real information, not overacting or anything. Just.. real! Btw, when you talked about the food and I was RIGHT there with you agreeing with everything you said and saying to myself "finally, someone talking facts and the truth about this stuff." lol You definitely got a new subscriber and I'll definitely have to check out your other videos.
The lack of cuisine diversity is frustrating but that is improving at least for the most part. I love visiting bigger cities for the food options and hope Charlotte catches up at some point. We have sadly lost a lot of smaller music venues due to development and gentrification over the last 20 years. That has been a real bummer.
The food scene was probably the biggest adjustment for me! We've definitely improved since I've moved here though. Hopefully it does continue. Sadly, we've lost a lot of good spots to gentrification; restaurants, bars, venues - so much 😢 I just checked out Goldies though. It was great. I have high hopes for them!
@@malana.realtor pretty much all the older restaurants I try with very high Google reviews (4.7+) and that haven’t been updated in decades just aren’t very good at all. Rated high as old staples, but the food, decor, and cleanliness all is very lacking. Not surprised a lot of these businesses are dying off. The restaurants that stay with the times and are great will have no trouble staying open.

For people that work in the uptown area, how viable is the light rail for daily commute? Perhaps parking in a different area and taking the light rail into uptown.
It’s absolutely viable. There are large parking lots by the major stops (Woodlawn, Sugar Creek, etc). There are also some pretty nice town communities within walking distance to some of the stops.....The downside is that it can get pretty packed during commuting hours and there are a lot of stops. Definitely get the CATS app though, it makes life a lot easier :)
Keep in mind… there is no such thing as a “yellow light” and too often a “red light” is considered just a suggestion. Seldom can I travel in Charlotte where I don’t see the aftermath of a car accident. I’m being serious!
What a very well-put-together video. My husband and I are considering retiring to Charlotte from NY. My deathly fear of snakes means it's probably going to have to be a condo, and that being the case I want to be right in the center of things. Are most of the high-rise buildings dog-friendly?
Thank you! .... Yep! Some complexes even have dog parks. You might run into a few spots with breed restrictions or a limit on how many pets you can keep. But overall, we're super dog-friendly here. I used to live uptown with my rescues, and it was awesome. They absolutely loved it 🙂
@@malana.realtor Thank you so much! We have a much-loved rescue mutt who's almost 2 and wherever we go, he must be allowed to go too🥰 I've watched several of your videos over the last couple of days and would feel very comfortable contacting you when we're ready to make our move
