    If you want to move to Charlotte, live south of the city, the safest locations are all south of the city. Ballantyne and Providence area is a good area to live.

      I'm in San Antonio, TX and want to move to Charlotte and been looking at the Northeast side of the city and outer suburbs there, what's that area like?

    • @ThumbsUpMike
      @ThumbsUpMike 18 днів тому

      @@Cel.northeast96 Northeast side of the city is nice like plaza midwood area, very close to the city with lots of restaurants around.
      Very traffic heavy, especially using route 74(is a nightmare to drive on).
      Anymore north of plaza midwood like around Noda and more north is where you enter danger terrority.
      Shootings and crime happen more frequently, more homeless people around the more northern east areas.
      If you are looking into Charlotte, South of the city is typically the way to go. Starting around SouthPark and more south, SouthPark is good if you can afford it(very expensive).
      Anywhere stretching Ballantyne, through Providence, and into Matthews is very good. More safe, more laid back vibe, and is around a lot of stuff and near the main highway of Charlotte, route 485.
      Providence and Ballantyne would be my first looking choices, more youthful. Matthews is more of an older scene with youth mixed in but relies on route 74 which is a traffic nightmare.

      Lmao, so the most expensive place outside Charlotte. Heard. Matthew's is a much better option.

    • @drewbienewbie03xx81

      @Cel.northeast96 check out Matthew's nc. Uptown Charlotte is nice too tbh. Stay out of all the sides, unless you're cool with negative elements. I lived eastside and Southside. Eastside is Spanish. Like legit i was the only white dude speaking English. Got messed w for a bit but once they realized I wasn't a snitch, my pit likes to bite, and I carry. Stopped getting messed w but they would break into my car on the regular and rip all my usmc shit off it. 🤷‍♂️ Def get your ccw asap, anywhere you move to in NC, cause it's a right afforded to us. Southside was American people and Haitian. I felt more welcomed there. They have the light rail that goes to uptown all the way to the northside, unc clt campus. Actually just don't go eastside or Westside. If you go Northside check out Concord nc. I lived there too. 15 min outside Charlotte, but still small town life and countryside if you want it.

    • @ThumbsUpMike
      @ThumbsUpMike 17 днів тому

      @@drewbienewbie03xx81 Is a pretty good rule of thumb for Charlotte, stay away from the sides.
      Uptown Charlotte is a decent option as well. One con with it is you have to deal with a lot of traffic and having to cut through the city or go around the city to access a lot of things.
      The other con is the dangers of charlotte are more easily to spread into uptown rather than south of the city.
      I would just have the guy check out Ballantyne, Providence, and Matthews areas. More safe and easier to access a lot of things.

    I've been living in Charlotte my entire life. As all people who have lived in the same place for their whole life, I wanted to get out as soon as possible. However, as I've gotten older, traveled, and done more research into other places I could live, I found that Charlotte strikes a pretty good balance. While Charlotte is far from being an exciting place to live, the lower-than-average cost of living and beautiful scenery while still offering the basic hallmarks of any large American city make perfect middle ground between exciting and realistic. I know that might not be what a lot of people aspire to (I sure don't, I'd rather live somewhere more exciting), but I feel like I have to give Charlotte credit for the great deal it does offer. I've heard from many people that move here that Charlotte quickly begins to feel like home after moving here, and I could not be more proud to be a part of that welcoming atmosphere.

      The only advice I'm going to say is that getting your license is terrible here. Ive lived in Dallas/Austin/Miami/Phoenix and the DMVs there were a breeze compared to NC. Appts are nearly non-existent and walk-in appts don't really happen. We went to Asheville and ended up getting out licenses in Hendersonville. We stopped at a few places and they wouldn't let you walk-in until 1, and the line starts around 11. They only allow ~10 walk-ins a day. It was one of the worst experiences Ive ever dealt with.

    Very informative video 💯. I would agree with the points you made in terms of the increased cost of living & the competitive job market in Charlotte. However, I couldn’t see myself moving back there I’m from Lincoln Heights off Beatties Ford Rd, and even lived in Double Oaks & Sugar Creek before gentrification revitalized those areas. They were pretty rough back then….😕 I do remember the 704 having beautiful areas in the 2000s & early 2010s though.

    I moved to Charlotte with my family from Connecticut in 2004 when I was 16. I found almost all of what you said to be true, and it made me proud of my city! One thing you didn't mention, which I found interesting, is the fact that Charlotte is kind of a melting pot, and a unique place in North Carolina. I'd say 90% of people who you talk to are not from Charlotte. Almost all of my friends are from other states. Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida being ones that stand out in my friend group. It's pretty rare to find somebody who is from Charlotte, which Charlotte natives are very aware of, and usually think is funny. And while southern hospitality, or friendliness is definitely a thing here, you're not going to find many southern accents or traditional southern culture (besides biscuits, sweet tea and grits) unless you travel outside the city. You don't have to go far too find it though, haha. Oh I live in Pineville by the way, south Charlotte. Cost of living is rising and I'm not a banker, but I think it's a great place to live and raise a family.

    Thank you for the video, one of the best I saw about Charlotte. I was ready to move 3 years ago from the state, better not to be mentioned out loud, but my wife graduates this year. Hopefully we will make it this summer despite the best moment already passed. NC seems to be almost ideal state, everything we are lacking here is great there. Couple of things are still a bit confusing when I was visiting Charlotte last time, suburbs are kinda dark, no lights or walkways, downtown is not very ‘active’ during weekends - not much working early not much late. The big amount of N power plant combining in SC + NC is worrisome, maybe it can be considered as a good sign of stable weather and geodesics.

    • @LivingInCharlotteTeam
      @LivingInCharlotteTeam  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Excited to welcome you to the Queen City soon! Suburbs all have a very different feel - if you’re looking for more of the prototypical suburban feel and less of a rural suburban feel, suburbs like Pineville, Huntersville, and Cornelius will be more your vibe. Different parts of downtown (or ‘uptown’ as the natives call it lol) are active or not during the weekends. The east end - in the center of the banking district - is very dead during the weekend, but the west end is very active especially towards South End, Ashley Park, and Dilworth. You’ll also hear me talk about the crazy weather here, but you are correct that it’s very moderate compared to most other places. Being this far inland behind the mountains has spoiled us. As far as geodesic activity, when you get into South Carolina down into Columbia and further south, there will be a handful of minor tremors per year, but my understanding is that Charlotte is close enough to the mountains to get none of that. Happy to answer all your questions and help any way I can with ensuring a smooth move. Call or text anytime! (980) 449-3750 Cheers, Lukas

There’s no perfect place obviously. We’re wanting to relocate from SW Florida next year, and I often think that Florida is truly a land of extremes. I’ve been here 13 years, and I think NC will be a welcome change in so many ways! We’re hoping to land in Ballantyne, but realistically prices there might push us slightly west or south across the border. I used to live in Louisville so I can give a pretty direct comparison! Weather is a HUGE improvement. If by allergens you mean pollen etc, the first year is usually a little tougher than most people are used to. The pollen is different anytime you move regions. Second year is a lot easier, just eat locally grown honey and you’ll be fine. Travel is a MILE better in every way. As far as elementary schools, not 100% sure as I don’t have kids personally, but I’ve never heard of any schools NOT providing lunches. We have some of the best rated school systems in the US, and many New Yorkers move to NC specifically for the schools. Excited to welcome y’all to the area! We are moving with my mother in law so have to have an inlaw suite with its own restroom, we can build her a kitchenette and it would be amazing to have 2 sets of washer and dryer hook ups but not necessary. I have mobility issues so I prefer the hook ups to be upstairs. Here the housing market we would plan for around 250k. I do not want to live in the city. I can say my hubby would be working at clt if he gets accepted and I would hopefully be transferring with AAA. So we would need to be close to those, good schools and shoppable neighborhoods. My spouse and I are interested in moving to Charlotte from Pittsburgh, PA. We’ve lived in a total of 3 states and traveled half of the US. We’re planning to visit this year and take a road trip down. Crime is a big concern for us so if you could recommend a few safe possible areas to visit that would be great! So far online searches make it seem great so we’re ready to see in person if it’s the right place for us.

      Hope to welcome you here very soon! Many clients enjoy staying in Ballantyne or Myers Park areas if you’d like to stay in close proximity to the city. Huntersville, Cornelius, or Weddington may be better if you’d like to explore the suburbs. Either way, you can call/text me at 980-449-3750 or scan the QR on my channel page to schedule a time to meet on zoom. Look forward to meeting soon! -Lukas Rohler, Realtor

    How does Charlotte compare to Raleigh NC? I lived in Raleigh and loved it, I foolishly moved to Buffalo NY but the snow and the strictness of NY is awful. I have family in Charlotte and am considering Charlotte as a place to live. Just wondering how Charlotte compares to Raleigh. I'm big into the outdoors, are there cool parks in Charlotte? Does Charlotte have farmer's markets? Where is the best BBQ in Charlotte? How hard or easy is it to find work in Charlotte? Thanks for any of your answers in advance!

      Charlotte is a bit bigger city than Raleigh. There are a few farmers market in and around Charlotte. Jobs are available, mostly in finance, retail and teaching and yes in health care too. So it is not very difficult to get a good job. Traffic is getting chaotic all around during rush hours. Weather is quite good year round, not tend to go to extreme. 3.5 hours to the mountains and about the same to the beaches. But I suggest you stay where you are. We are full to the brim. Just kidding. Been here for 25 years, we developed a love for the city. So good luck.

    I'm from Toronto and looking to move to Charlotte. I'm in tech (working as a data analyst) and have noticed quite a lot of IT job postings, so it seems the city has opportunities. Is it seen as a competitive job market? Toronto is pretty much so competitive and expensive, that if you're not lucky here, it's hard to live well. I live in Steele Creek now off of Dixie River Rd about 2 miles from the River District and I am beyond excited! I wanted to grab a one bedroom apartment for my mom in there- so she'd be close to me. I know that they are also supposed to have a 55+ Active Adult community in there as well. I mean, it looks like renters and buyers will live together, single family homes, apartments, townhomes, a small retirement community and a designated area for affordable housing- best neighborhood ever! I LOVE that they will have an orchard and farmer's markets on the weekends for the surrounding community, so smart! I am all over this and cannot wait to hear more. My house is in Berewick and the value has literally gone up +$245k since 2017. I LOVE Steele Creek and looking forward to TRD opening soon!

    The public transportation is not that efficient in charlotte. The light rail is really only an advantage if you’re in Southend, downtown, and NoDa, and only if you’re only a couple blocks from the mainline. The city isn’t really that walkable.
    Unless you are making enough money to live in the better neighborhoods, like ardent kell or providence, you’re not really going to be able to take advantage of the better char-meck schools. You can always tell when someone isn’t from charlotte. Crime is steadily on the rise here, like any growing metro in the US. But it’s mostly safe. The biggest crimes here are mostly property crimes and not necessarily violent crimes although those are on the rise as well.
    Charlotte is conveniently located to everything which is cool.2-4hrs to the beach, mtns, and other states. Always things to do, but if you’re in for the nightlife you gotta live in Southend or NoDa. It’s not really a club vibe city. More bars and brewery type places.

      Dear lady, I'm a black man and I have lived, worked and been educated in mostly white areas in New England and the Northeast for many decades without any race problem. I've stayed out of Democrat-run urban areas, because that's where most American violent street crime and property crime occurs! Look up actual crime stats going back for six decades, if you don't believe me.
      The West is the least racist region in the world and America is the best of the West, whatever color you are! If NOT, why are so many non-white illegal aliens flooding into Western countries, including the US, like its going out of style?! I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't understand this, but I don't lose any sleep worrying about "white racism", which has never stopped me, or anyone in my family, from reaching any goal. Too many people are moving down south to this big cities! So that means high prices in taxes, cost of living. And don’t expect a good paying job

      Yep, as you pointed out there’s a lot of relocation from northeastern states because it’s a great place to live. Most people move here FOR a great paying job offer. Not sure why you’re heckling me? I’m flattered though, thanks for joining the conversation! 😅

      They’re clearly speaking on behalf of natives to NC. Those of us who have lived here are getting COMPLETELY priced out of our own neighborhoods. So, sure, a GREAT deal for North-East re-locators, and a HUGE problem for a lot of us raised here. While everyone needs to do what they have to do, it will have ripple effects. I mean, another commenter here stated most people they run into in Charlotte aren’t even from the area. So, cool? People are happy the native people are getting pushed out?

    Overly optimistic. I stopped mostly through because you are comparing it to dirty places like NY. Maybe compare it to other southern cities. In my view, Charlotte doesn't really belong in NC. It is more west coast feel and probably would do better in Colorado. Definitely a place for a family who is immigrating I think. The only city in NC I have been too that has Spanish at its train station. I am in Concord and most people in Concord agree moving to Charlotte isn't for the faint hearted. You pay a lot more tax for a lot less. I was nearly killed by a bus in a multi car epidemic when two men were racing their cars stupid on University Blvd. People cut not only infront of you but drive on the wrong side of the street on purpose.

      You might want to check out the Charlotte vs Raleigh comparison video I made. This video is more of a general primer for people relocating from NY, LA, Miami, etc. I used to live in Concord but I prefer Charlotte personally - to each their own - so I moved 30 mins down into the city. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I think it’s funny that you allow a realtor to talk you into a house and you haven’t even been here. If it’s so great here then why does he need a UA-cam channel to convince people to come here?

      Because professionals moving for work like to work with professionals. I love to share the city that caught my heart. Before my real estate career, I was a 100% travel engineer. Compared to new york city no comparison, Charlotte nc homes offer parking and less tolls
    Let's leave it at that ! Nyc is taxing all put of the city, it's horrible

    Oh believe me the amount of people still relocating to these area! Will increase traffic all around. Even in areas you try to take to avoid traffic so that means higher taxes. Cost of living will rise.

    The cost of living in Charlotte, NC is your sanity.
    You will go insane due to the traffic and stupid drivers.
    You will have morons driving in the far left lane going slower than the speed limit.
