I love balfouri tarantulas, great video! I am very fond of that blue tan color combo and they webbed up the enclosure beautifully! They also have a lot of trust between them to share a meal like that! Really cool to see!!
It must be amazing to see that Balfouri communal in person, and to watch them feed like that too. The P.Metallica communal is quite something as well, I'd be happy with just one
That was so cool to watch! I’m a recent subscriber, so I had no idea about the P metallica communal. Nor the pokie slings. Guess that means it’s time to binge all your vids.
@@IanTarrantula my first T. was a P. Regalis I picked it up at an herp store they recommended it as a good species, only after getting home and doing some deep dives did realize i got a fast moving old world spider haha all in all it was a good little male i never got tagged and we spent a good 5 years together but that many old world together kind of spooks me haha
Yer we did no u was away lol 😆 but kids come first really cool video mate . Loving the nice group u have . 14 adults is a lot for adults but looks good the
The chances of any being left over is small and the risk of any crickets eating a spider in a colony is pretty much zero. Where they moult at different times there is always some kind of looking after moulting siblings ect.
Ian have you had any problems with the P.metallica communal? It's amazing how they are all in there together and not eating each other. Brilliant video mate and I'll see you in your next episode. Take care.
I personally haven't got any pokie communals but plan to in the future. I have heard of both success stories and disasters but I would like to see for myself one day 🙂
@@IanTarrantula oh I thought you had one my bad. I will say the M.balfouris you have are my favorite to watch that setup is brilliant. I want to get some one if these days. Maybe when I can get a successful pairing with either my P.Sazmai or my Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens females. I can sell the offspring the I could afford to get the spoods I'm really after. Take care mate
at the moment just over 50. It was a bit closer to the 100 mark but I sold a few off. I have 4 females paired up and hoping for more babies this year 😊
You can. But you do run a slight risk of the male eventually getting eaten if he keeps trying to mate with the female. I have had a mature male cohabiting with 2 females for nearly the whole of December and he is doing fine. I will take him out soon though.
Thanks. I don't have a P. metallica communal myself at the moment but it is something I plan on doing in the future. Greame who has this balfouri communal has a communal of 14 P. mets however and they are all doing fine. I have a clip of them in one of my videos 🙂
@@IanTarrantula Yup, I saw it at the end of this vid, thus the question. BTW, I have a 2 P.mettalica setup right now. hoping to have a male and female for easier mating. im still starstruck by the m.balfouri communal, dang! they're so pretty!
@@pnxxxyt5080 oh yeah hehe. I hope it works out for you. Hopefully my female P. metallica matures before at least one of my males. I would love to try a big communal of my own.

Thank you for that feeding video, I want to see more of that and longer feeding videos
Great use of the aquariums for the p. Metallica communal.
A few mods had to be done to prevent escapees 🙂
Wow. I did not know their were other kinds of tarantulas that would be communal. So cool. Thank you for sharing.

It really is impressive Robert.
Amazing!! On my wish list to have a communal like this some day 😏
You definitely need to. They really are unbelievable 🙂
I have a communal!
I swear when those 3 spiders were huddled together I kept expecting some one to yell " Group Hug!"
What were they doing??
That was so cool to watch! I’m a recent subscriber, so I had no idea about the P metallica communal. Nor the pokie slings. Guess that means it’s time to binge all your vids.
Thank you 🙂 There are more risks with pokie communals but there as been quite alot of success stories. I am planning on doing one or 2 in the future 😁
that triple love scene was so freacking funny omg
Seriously impressive m.balfouri setup and real jealous to be fair! Great video keep it up
Thank you. I am slightly jealous and makes my communal of 5 look tiny lol
Amazing how they webbed it up! Nice Balfour group hug. Were they mating or trying to eat the same cricket? I could tell lol. Pokies were cool too!!
Thanks Beth. They were all sharing a dubia roach. There were 5 altogether sharing it. It really was incredible to watch!
I have 11 species of T. I have two of these and i wish i had a bigger set up like this great idea for the enclosure!
Omg that Balfouri feeding was bloody awsome wow what was the group huddle about lol
There were 5 all sharing a dubia roach 😁
Really cool
One of the spiders kept running forward biting crickets and releasing them
6:36 that cricket watching them like "wtf is going on there"
Awesome mate. I am going to have to rehouse my 5 M.Balfouri soon. Not really looking forward to it!
Thanks! Check out my rehouseing of 70. That should make 5 a bit easier for you 🙂
HOLLY SHIT THATS AWESOME !!! I did not know poki could be communal. thanks for the video bud great stuff
Thanks buddy. Yeah they are a bit more risky but if conditions are kept right, they can flourish as a communal.

Cool Ian!
Didnt know p. Metallica was as communal spider that's one expensive co hab totally cool
Any updates on them? They must be matured by now
I have quite a few updates on my channel. There is a playlist showing all their progress 🙂
They were busy.

very interesting, never seen communal feeding before. Love it, great job....Next time put some scifi music or battle type music to the vid,lol
I will certainly consider this for the next feeding video 😁
How do you make sure there are zero crickets left, so that the T's are safe from getting chewed on themselves?
The chances of any being left over is small and the risk of any crickets eating a spider in a colony is pretty much zero. Where they moult at different times there is always some kind of looking after moulting siblings ect.

What kind of spiders at the end of your video?
At the end is Poecilotheria metallica (Gooty Sapphire ornamental tarantula)

Can you tell me how many Balfouri you have?
at the moment just over 50. It was a bit closer to the 100 mark but I sold a few off. I have 4 females paired up and hoping for more babies this year 😊
How much balfuori is in that terrarium?
There are 65 in there
Can u keep just a male and female together since they are communal

Is that massive communal from single egg sack?
Yes it was from 1 egg sac.
Why are those 3 hugging
They are sharing a meal
should they be siblings or atleast same size in order to do this?
It is beneficial for them to be siblings but I have heard of communals from different sacs. Ideally roughly the same size would be best personally.
This is really impressive. Isn´t inbreeding a problem in such a colony?
Thanks ! We have since removed all the mature males and intruduced unrelated mature males.
Why so many crickets
Insane communal tho!!!
