My thing is... how many times did we play "cupcake" teams under Riley and, yeah.. we scored a lot of points, but they were still scoring 30? That is my biggest take.
Excellent point! I didn’t think of it that way and now I’m wondering why I didn’t? I’m not as critical as some because a goose egg is a great day under any circumstance, but I definitely noticed the lack of penetration from the D-line. But you are right! Under the previous regime, that team scores at least 20 points, and probably more like 28.
The most impressive thing to me was the passion showed from the first second to the last. From 1st string to 5th string, everyone was playing as hard as they could. There was no let off like what usually happens! Beautiful performance and did exactly what was expected of them.
Just an idea for maybe a bye week episode, could you all do a breakdown of some common football terms and ideas? Maybe get a whiteboard even? I’d love to hear Teddy illustrate gap schemes, different coverages, etc and Gabe show power/zone run, boot, etc! I love OU football, and I know enough to context clue most of the terms but it would be so cool to hear from guys with experience.
Great overall performance. Gabriel looked fantastic. Having a legitimate backup has freed up Lebby and (it seems) Gabriel as well. Excited to see the improvement continue. Love the aggression on the back end on defense (Pearson and G. Williams). You can still learn from games in which you play not-very-good competition. There were no "dumb" penalties, and fewer missed assignments on defense. There were some dropped balls by Ark. State, which helped us. Love the depth at the D-line position as well. I think we can have a special year.
Blame the week of being able to prepare for Lindsey Street. This should have been taken care of months ago. Hard to organize a good tailgate in just a week of knowing where you can tailgate or not. Its a braindead move by the University.
Did they ever make an announcement for it? I only heard about it being open recently from a couple of the OU journalists. I don't imagine many people knew about it. Idk. Maybe they should've did an announcement about it on the jumbotron before the game, or made flyers about it.
I thought one of the best things i saw on offense was the blocking on the perimeter in the screen and short pass game. The recievers specifically blocked for each other really well
Really hope Coach Bedenbaugh is watching the film as in-depth as Gabe, or that Gabe is remaining in players’ ears! I mean I know you don’t want to over-step with the coaches or anything, but my goodness the depth at which you review the film and analyze the o-lineman along with scheme and technique is awesome! Great work as always, Gabe
I’ve got something to say about Walter Rouse. We were down in the red zone and he was blocking on a run and he picked dude up and drove him into the wall of the stands like the guy was a child!
You need to get some OU legends to show up at Lindsay Street and party with the fans. That will always draw people and get things kicked off, so that people get used to it again. Imagine partying with Boz or Baker or whoever for a couple of hours before the game. You don't even have to do it every time, just get it started and get some media outlets and some DJs. Make it a party atmosphere and it will eventually take off on its own.
I think Sawchuk is our best back but he's got to be able to get healthy and see the field. I just remember from the Cheezit bowl being really impressed with his suddenness and size to go with it. Let's hope he can get cleared to play for the SMU game. *Edit. Thanks for the shoutout on the call your shot segment.
I think this is the year the 1980's hit song "The Sooner Stomp" makes its glorious and triumphant return. Let's get an entire stadium clapping and singing along to that gem of a song.
I don’t live in Oklahoma anymore but I follow OU religiously still. But I hadn’t heard anything about Lindsey Street being open for tailgating. I think maybe the memo wasn’t put out well.
Is the oklahoma breakdown kinda quiet volume wise for anybody else? I have to max volume on phone and speaker and still very quiet compared to any other video. Great job though guys!! Thanks for all content!
The best thing about the game from a defensive standpoint, Arkansas State went to 412 on third down conversions, and from the offense standpoint, they control the ball for almost 37 minutes
I agree the passion with all the players from OU TEAM 129 was AWESOME. Second the game day performance is North Side of the OU stadium and NOT Lindsey street which was very disappointing. BOOMER SOONERGame 2 vs SMU see Y(OU) then
There’s a phenomenon where if your competition is really bad, no one will stand out because the other team wasn’t good enough to force the cream to rise to the top.
I wanted to see a shutout and got it. Gabriel puts too much air under the ball on deep routs. Wide outs had to slow down too much. I hope he works on that.
Tailgating was the worst, spend a little money and build a huge public bathroom for tailgaters and fans but allow rooftop use for tailgating and fans so you don’t use the real estate close to the stadium.

The number of big plays the Sooners allowed was better. Usually no matter who we play, when they wanted a score or first downs, we couldn’t stop them. Yesterday for the most part we stopped them. Hopefully we can stop everybody else on the schedule.
That seems to be all of our guys. Walker seemed to be the only one that could occasionally get more than 5-6 yards. And they were fought hard for. I can't tell if they're just not hitting holes right, or if our run blocking isn't creating enough space.. It almost seems the latter to me. But, idk.
I really just think it was the way ASU was playing, they were playing zone D pretty much every possession and had at least 3 extra guys behind their D-line at all times, makes it much harder to run against but makes guarding the pass much harder as well. That’s why OU QBs we’re torching them. Like Teddy said let’s see a normal game get played and then judge our boys on their performance
I'll take their analysis over your predisposed bitching. They explained why there was no pass rush. Max protect the entire game. Shit out 150 yards of total offense and your still unhappy. Perhaps the pass rush wasn't needed for this game plan given the game plan ASU went with? Ya think?

Tailgating needs time, but it’s the fault of the administration. Biggest complaints from people are about being able to set up spots the evening prior and the day of being able to drop off gear because of parking is 1/2 mile away! Lol They need to advertise more too. Those signs are small and they could easily put a sign that is big at each gate so people actually know…. This usually happens at the beginning of every season. We play a crap team at 11:00 and it’s 100+ degrees. They’re facing the sun the whole time. To their credit, they get much better later in the season when it cools off. But it was 100+ degrees for me too and I stayed until the very end, like I always do! They’re just too soft these days.
The most important part of the run game was to control the tempo of the game and keep the d-backs on there heels in the passing game: Game 1 mission accomplished. I'm sure you already know OU didn't dig to deep into the playbooks for this game
@@OK_Breakdown You can tell Teddy didn't get it...classic linebacker. Nah, he's a good kid. If I was gonna bust his balls I'd tell him to go home and get his shine box.
This game was 100 percent better than any game Oklahoma played last year. There was better discipline, better physicality, and better motivation. Oklahoma got after it and they should go undefeated, win the Big XII Conference, win a playoff game, and leave everything on the field in the National Championship game.
Whoa bro let’s pump the brakes and beat Texas before we start hyping ourselves up like that😂😂😂 but I agrees that would be the dream and I’d be on cloud 9 lol
Well teddy and Gabe know how to make a win feel like a complete loss. From teddy and Gabe’s view ou defensive line still sucks. One of these days I hope ou gets better
OU looked good. Ark St. Had several missed opportunities. Missed field goals, dropped passes. Poor execution both sides. The teams OU will face will be better than that moving forward. Opposing coaches will see weaknesses in OUs tapes and look to exploit those. Better receivers will make catches against OU. Better QBs will find open receivers. Different and better offensives will change outcomes of drives. Different and better defenses will make it harder for DG and OUs offense. However I think OU will stay focused and continue To win. Prediction next game OU38/SMU14 SMU will probably give the sooners some problems. Hopefully OU doesn't get too big headed and let it effect them in a negative way next Saturday.
Re: Lindsey Street I think the University Admin has to invest some big advertising dollars if they want that place to be bumping. While it’s been all over social media there are still tons of people who aren’t plugged into the social media. Gotta get in talks with the Greek scene and maybe incentivize them to move their tailgates to Lindsey with food, drinks, or something. College kids are lazy, I know I was, and they need a reason to go bake outside all morning. Maybe talk to all the colleges who host their own tailgates and get them to move it to Lindsey. Gotta get the ecosystem in place, it might take some time.

To their credit, they get much better later in the season when it cools off. But it was 100+ degrees for me too and I stayed until the very end, like I always do! They’re just too soft these days.
We don't belong in the sec. It's embarrassing
I’m not worried about anything until I see a trend.
Maybe they're better maybe they're not...have to wait and see...Team with a heartbeat would have tossed for 350 or more yards
Not enough advertising for tailgating. Plain and simple
Teddy is super critical lol
Hes realistic. Fans are irrationally optimistic about thier teams. Teddy knows what is up

Could the PAC-12 be 3-0 against the Big 12 after next week?
Colorado over TCU, Utah possibly over Baylor, Oregon possibly over Tech? 🤔🤔🤔
Would be surprised if they aren't. Oregon and Utah are really good teams.
Everything looked good on this team except, I was very unimpressed with the run game
The most important part of the run game was to control the tempo of the game and keep the d-backs on there heels in the passing game: Game 1 mission accomplished. I'm sure you already know OU didn't dig to deep into the playbooks for this game
Matt Leinart picking LSU to win it all looks in doubt
Tree-Fitty? It sounds like that damn Loch Ness Monster is back. Whatever you do don't give him no damn tree-fitty.
I'm glad someone got the reference!
That's certainly one way to interpret what we said!
Prediction next game OU38/SMU14
SMU will probably give the sooners some problems. Hopefully OU doesn't get too big headed and let it effect them in a negative way next Saturday.
Re: Lindsey Street
I think the University Admin has to invest some big advertising dollars if they want that place to be bumping.
Pearson tone setter the one, and only Oklahoma
