It sounds like a good thing to play UCF and Kansas back to back. We get to practice some of the same concepts that we're not use to playing against, on back to back weeks.
I know Bill is telling these guys what they need to know, but the free “coaching” Gabe throws in there is good stuff. Nothing better than experience being spoke.
The audio version of the podcast plays the song after that. UA-cam has too many copyright issues with us inserting it despite having written permission from Hosty to use the song.
I agree with Teddy on the play-calling and sign-stealing. I think if there are tendencices from teams and you pick up on them, it's fair game. I remember as a freshman in college not getting any playing time, but my sole job the entire game was to watch the third base coach and see if we can get anything from patterns. Our coach had the most elaborate sign calling from the pros where you had to subtract numbers in order to get the right call. It was so hard to learn, but it was ironclad against stealing. Also, can we just get the coaches in the qb helmets like the NFL? That would solve so much of this issue.
It’s like everybody needs to communicate and call it out. If one season one don’t call it out loud enough everybody sees it. Communication is gonna be key.
I think you're both right. It's going to be a heavy hammer come down on Michigan, UNLESS it's found out that a good number of big schools have been doing a variation of this same thing. Then it might be a whiff and quick forget that anything happened at all, along with new rules allowing comms in helmets.
Well! The Jayhawks has had the OU number the last few years! Offensively, we have to expand your game plan or schemes to exploit the defensives weaknesses. What about screens, reverses and wheel routes to get the ball key (speeder)receivers down field. (Surprise Attack) The Jayhawks has some really good defensive and offensive analysis…Moreover, the kicking game has to be solid for OU. The defensive has to conducts and displays schemes, that the opponents QB may have not seen before, (Disruption Plan) in there scouting operations, (Confusing the Jayhawks QB and Offensive OC operations )…
enjoy your show as always... let's stop last year a coach Left and left Oklahoma strapped what was BV too do, he did what a great coach does makes his impact
If our defense can shoot gaps and edge rush and blow up plays in the backfield…all KU’s offensive complexity and diversity will be largely mitigated. TFL’s will be key for us.
Helmet microphones do not solve issue. Dependency on them would require teams to huddle. Teams that play with pace don’t want to. The reason is all of the other players on offense often look for signals especially the receivers.
If they spend too much effort trying to blanket Drake, Farooq and Nic Anderson are just going to get touchdowns. As long as we aren't one dimensional I'd like to think the O is gonna have a good game
Good stuff guys as always. I got one thing for gabe to ask teddy if he is okay with other sports being played on owen field please 😊 I love when he goes left
TCU pipes in their applauses. Everything’s recorded they never fill a stadium unless they give tickets away and they did that last year when they played a Oklahoma.
It could be a tough game with Lebby’s 3 and out plays while scoring around 25 points a game. Should be a 50 point game but we will see. Everybody can blame the players and not the play caller.
Kansas doesnt have a ton of talent but by god are they a well coached team. Disiplined and those guys play hard. Reminds me of Kstate in the 2000s under Snyder.
Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vandy, South Carolina, Mizzou, Miss St., Arkansas mostly 2 and 3’s. Plus (unfortunately imo) we pick up the sec fourth non conference game. Maine next year for us. Next years schedule we’ll be favored all but three games. Maybe more. Only have to finish ranked top 12
All that scouting/cheating didn’t help Michigan in the playoffs last yr. Perhaps TCU coach Sonny Dykes got a reliable tip about being scouted and changed up the sign and signal routine. There’s likely a very interesting back story here. Somebody please catch S Dykes in a totally candid moment about all this.
It's interesting you say that. Kevin Wilson always used to tell us rain was a great for having a big day in the passing game. Wet surface benefits the offense. Wide receivers know where they are going and DBs do not. Something to think about!
We need our office to do something instead of coming out dead and trying to do some kind of trick play that they never run when you stop them four times and you get the ball on are on their side. You’re the score something it’s a lot harder to play Defense, and it is all fence because one matchup you could give up a touchdown. We just need him to come ready to play and play hard and smart and I’m talking about all fence to.
A possible pay-per-view event, if the OU kicker costs, Oklahoma conference or possible national championship, would love to see you to melt down. We’re all federal state and local authorities would have to come to the rescue.
The important aspect will be how Stutsman and Kanek play and most importantly, how Venables uses them on stunts to mess up Kansas’ run plays with penetration and taking away pulling offensive linemen. We have the talent to win up front just how we won against UCF at the beginning, just need DL to stack and shed and for the LBs to be stout in their gaps.
I agree Kanak will be the key to this win on Defense. I saw a number of plays against UCF where he was swallowed up by UCF O- lineman. He has to continue to improve.
Kanak is just not there yet. Too many mental mistakes. He gets pushed around too much by blockers. He has a high ceiling for sure but Lewis is better right now, if a bit undersized. I’d rather see Kip Lewis on weak side, Stutsman at MLB and McCullough at strong side/nickel back (ie: what VB calls Cheetah).
@@shpankey Kip has barely played any linebacker at all aside from goalline and is giving up about 10-15 pounds to Kanek. Kanek’s upside is a lot better and he’s only a sophomore and plays well. Stutsman, Kanek and Mccoullough are the best 3 to have on the field right now.
@@seanb.4712 Kanak just has to continue to get better at seeing things faster and diagnosing run scheme like we saw Stutsman begin to do last year. As a first year starter, Kanak has shown plenty that he’s capable if he continues to improve. I think we just see Danny play so well and forget that it’s hard to have 2 guys that good and Kanak is very close to that.
@@huntermcphail7433 I understand and granted I’m going off what I’m hearing about Kip from Stutsman’s podcast and what he says everyone is saying about Kip. That he’s phenomenal and everyone saying he has amazing instincts and a nose for the ball. But watching Kanak’s mistakes or him getting pancaked multiple times is not inspiring. I agree he has huge upside potential but he is not there yet. I’d love to see more Lewis for myself but what I have seen so far sure is damn impressive! I have yet to see Kanak really flash big. Some decent plays for sure but more of the other. Some missed tackles, getting blown up/pancaked and very few winning against blockers. Just my opinion no offense intended.
Clean up the mental mistakes. The thing that bothers me most about the Kanak GL stand taunting was Ethan Downs did the exact same thing in the previous game against Texas, but even worse (after his sack of Ewers). How did the coaches not address that when watching the Texas film and address it with the team?? Ethan got lucky nobody called it but his taunting was even worse and way over the top! This should have been coached out of the team. The other mental mistake of not keeping coverage on the sprint left trick play should be easy to coach up. Gabriel plays way too conservative and doesn’t throw a catchable deep ball when he has continuous 1 on 1’s on the outside. I believe he does this on purpose to avoid int’s. He needs to be more aggressive and give Anderson and Gibson a chance to win those. The WR has ALL the advantage and he needs to trust they will win those. Eg: Penix against Oregon The amount of times UCF was in cover 1 and even cover 0 and tight man press was insane. I was at the game and OU was running the ball while UCF played those concepts. OU has to throw them out of that defensive scheme or we will continue to suffer running woes. Defenses have caught on OU’s offense is 90% line of scrimmage plays. Runs, screens, bubble screens, swing passes, etc. So the LB’s and safeties play way up tight and shut them down. It’s so stupid. Your offense has to evolve and you need downfield plays to back off the safeties and even LB’s. Until then we will look constipated on offense! Kansas usually plays us tough and close. We can’t afford mental mistakes again or bad kicking. I think this game is a close loss for OU but I hope I’m wrong!!
There's a night and day difference from what you can see on the tv or stands and what they see out there on the field. I thought we did a good job against UCF. Theres always room for improvement and this team has improved all season. I will take a little being conservative over turnovers, those get you beat. DG put the ball down field when it was needed.
I don't want Lincoln Riley to be seriously sick. I hope he gets better but the more he craps the bed and looks even pettier and weaker. Not letting his players go to a Press Conference? WEAK. Brent and OU took an ass whipping last season but he stood there like a man. A leader. Thank God he is coaching at the University of spoiled children. I still love when him and Caleb struggles. CALEB said he wanted to play for a NC contender. Wrong School bub.
Here's the Problem guy's. OU doesn't have a QB that is Accurate in Passing or Continuity on Offense. UCF was out of sync for 3 Qtrs. Looked like a Stoops team with Landry Jones at QB. All that lets an opponent keep it close, just like the days of Former Coaches.
Would love it if you could get coach Demarco Murray on the show! I'm sure you would have the audience fully engaged.

coms in the helmet are easier to steal the signal all you need is a shortwave radio with a bunch of frequencies abilities.
If we are who we hope we are, then we go into Lawrence and take care of business.
I spoke with #72 Metaur ol ine for ou he’s coming back this week he said hope so we need to move the defense off the ball and he’s good at that
Every time I listen to you guys I feel like we’re about to get our asses kicked
The Kansas students are more worried about getting to the Phillip phillips concert!

Him saying fans aren’t going to games and sitting on the couch is hilarious lol We sell out every game 😂😂😂

I heard today that Lincoln Riley is saying that Utah was sign stealing. And he said this after the Michigan sign stealing going on.
Having this be one of our biggest games this season just makes me appreciate more the move to the SEC next season. It’s time to move on.
No doubt. This schedule is so empty and depressing, including OKlahoma State which is a dying program.
yikes
So how do you defend against their offense?
Win the battle at the line of scrimmage and everything will be alright.
Weather is supposed to be less than favorable, lets get that run game going. Boomer Sooner! Beat Kansas!!
I think it's a perfect opportunity for Tawee to wear down that defense. In the second half those linebackers won't want any more of those collisions
I moved out of the state and gave up on the mediocre Rangers. Next season they go to the World Series
Boomer Sooner !!!! Jayhawks are in trouble this weekend. See u guys this weekend Sooner Nation. Let's get it !!!!!!😆
I agree with Ted🤷🏾♂️
Could be wrong wrong but think gabe loves zone run schemes 😅😂
Fact.
That the main problem i have seen with the defense... outside containment....
I think a big key to this particular game is OU’s ability to score and score a lot. If not, we lose this particular game.
If they spend too much effort trying to blanket Drake, Farooq and Nic Anderson are just going to get touchdowns. As long as we aren't one dimensional I'd like to think the O is gonna have a good game
Do you think they’ve hired Kramer and Jerry Signfield about the stealing signs
May I ask please-- what does running behind your pads mean??? Is there any other way to run?? lol
It's hard to explain. You kinds just know it when you see it!
Good stuff guys as always. I got one thing for gabe to ask teddy if he is okay with other sports being played on owen field please 😊 I love when he goes left

Stutsman is going to be crucial against KU
Question: How do you shut down a huge offensive play book?
Answer: By being more physical on every damn play and blowing that shit up.
Has anyone heard anything about Kaden Helms? Is he going to miss the season, or just not ready to be on the field?
He said a couple weeks ago he wasn't sure when he'd be back. He will probably will miss season though.
Harbaugh should get slapped with lack of institutional control if he didn't know.
Kansas doesnt have a ton of talent but by god are they a well coached team. Disiplined and those guys play hard. Reminds me of Kstate in the 2000s under Snyder.
Leipold is fantastic. Getting KU back to respectability as quickly as he has is tremendous.

Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vandy, South Carolina, Mizzou, Miss St., Arkansas mostly 2 and 3’s.

OU 6-1 against the spread this year. We are stealing them signs midgame.
Weather benefits the team with the better run game. That's not good news for us.
