Thank you, Wendy, for showing us all your new treasures! Isn’t it exciting unboxing things you’ve wanted and waited for, when you finally get them? I went to art school, but left 14 years ago to have my children and raise/homeschool them. Now that they are a bit older, I have just started getting back into my art again, but sadly I’ve forgotten so much of my learning! So thus quick colour theory lesson was much appreciated 🙏🏼 thank you! xx
Wendy I wish all your videos were this long! I'd like some more info about all sorts of paper and journals and drawingbooks if you like. Thank you again !
That was such a cool color theory class!! Thank you so much. I’ve never understood why some colors would look great together and some would go dull but the undertone cool/warm makes so much sense. Thank you!!
Absolutely loved this video! Been a fan of a split primary palette (with a few fav convenience colours) for ages in acrylics. And seeing your luscious art supply hall was such fun. My wish list has Neocolour II, some much-needed brushes, and several books ( a colour-mixing volume, a techniques book, and a couple of books on artists and art movements) on it. Enjoy playing, Wendy, and I look forward to seeing how the new goodies inspire you. May you be filled with love and light. Thank you for sharing. 😘🤗
It made me so happy to watch you unbox all your treasures!!! Thank you for including us in YT land !!! You have also inspired me to play with color mixing.
I know this is from a year ago and you may not see my comment. But it is so great seeing you go through all your oil paints and showing mixing and the different colors - My Mom was an artist and I learned everything I know from her teaching me with oil paints. I now use acrylic, colored pencils, paint markers and some water color - will be adding oils back into the mix! I also love seeing your journals as I have been keeping up with my journals too. So much more to learn, even at age 66!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Now have you noticed how easily you manifested new paint and supplies? Now just take the same happy knowing energy and place it in the places where you have doubt❤
Such a yummy haul🎨so much gorgeous colour and playing with paint, love this video. The books are very interesting I shall look there up 👍🏻Thankyou sweet friend for taking the time to share 🤗sending love and hugs 🤗
So scientific ! As a scientist I would love to read "The secret lives of colour" It sounds so interesting. The visible electromagnetic spectrum and the stories behind it as well as what humans interpret is fascinating. Great choice.
you add to my happiness I feel like a giggle when you play the air with your fingers...I find myself feeling a connection to your insight ..way of thinking and I've only watched 3 of your most recent videos lol.... I'm 71 yr old widow maybe I'm your Granny from the art dimension...lol.. thank you for your video..
How FUN!! I love seeing all of your supplies! I am more of a fiber artist but got into the art journaling. Enjoy watching you paint and the great ideas for everything. I find your channel calming and inspirational. Keep up the great content! 💖
I love mixing my colours, well done for holding off for us 😊I love seeing art hauls etc and you never tire of that excitement gettiing a package in the post ❤ im a mixed media artist so need my paints using natural pigments, textiles, air dry clay plus chalks and if course my resources such as books which I love to study and read 😀 im ready for a slighty bigger space now to house all my ideas. I'm a self taught artist and experimenting is my favorite past time. I get a lot of my books and textiles from charity shops 😊
What a lovely delivery of supplies!. I started to watch this video while I was prepping dinner but I was too distracted! I'm deliberately making time to sit down with you after dinner so that I'll have quiet time to pay attention. Something to look forward to later. Hope you're well and happy.
Time flies when you're having fun. Even not painting with oil and not even being interested in it I watched until the end 🙂 On my wishlist I have a really large synthetic sable watercolor brush. I think I'll give that to myself next Christmas. Thank you for the colour mixing demonstration. And for extra mentioning that the most useful base colours are Cyan, Magenta and Yellow instead of Blue, Red and Yellow. 🥰
Happy Sunday sweet friend. I love the book’s especially the color book. You’ll have wonderful hrs of reading them. Lots of info on all aspects of paints/color and inspiration too. Drawing is good and I do this too. Love all those beautiful paints. I’ve never done the color palette but watching g you has made me realize how helpful this would be so I’m going to do this too. I loved your explanation on color mixing. I have been learning a lot about this as a self taught artist. I do keep the color wheel to refer to when needed. You’ve helped me a lot today. I had expensive electrical work done in my home this past Wednesday that took all day. So since I had to clear part of hall closet that acts as my pantry, cleared the left side and yesterday painted the full closet top to bottom. Now have work cut out to organize it all back again. I’ve done some journaling in my altered book this past week so that was good. I was pleased with the pages. Wendy it was so good to see your smiling face today. Made my Sunday really. Have a magical week and enjoy your new books and supplies. Much love from my house to yours.🎨🖌🧚♀️🧚🏻📚🌻🌺🌼🌷😘☮️❤️❤️
My wish list...my own backyard studio!!! ❤ Once I feel like I'm at the level I want to be, I would love some Michael Harding oils and Belgian linen canvas...I dream big!!! LOL!!! Painted on Belgian linen when I first started purely by accident. The girl at the shop told me wrong and rang it up wrong at just $3/yard back in 1986...my teacher about fainted!!! LOL!! Lovely texture. Currently, I just this past week made a list of the Gamblin oils I want to get so they are my next splurge...total coincidence that you also chose Gamblin. You will love their odorless Gamsol, so glad I switched to that three years ago, so much better!!! For my ultimate art wish list - save up for an art adventure in Europe!!!! I've never been out of the States and I have dreamt of painting in the UK, France, and Italy for nearly my entire life. So enjoy your videos, you feel like a close art friend, a spirit sister!!!
Gamvar is the only product that you can put on oil paintings before they are fully cured/dry because it is breathable and the paint won’t crack. Been using it for ages and it is excellent! I used to have to return months later to varnish but not Gamvar…apply right when dry to the touch. Yay for quality fun art supplies!!
I watched your colour mixing with interest. I was a dyer, using natural plant pigments for 20 years.. that’s a whole different ball game to paint pigments!
I loved this video! I'm still not much into painting or drawing, but I would like to get there again. I used to draw and paint a lot when I was a little girl, even though I liked writing much better (I'm an economist with a writer's heard and mind), however many of my happy memories of childhood, of sweet solitude are about me drawing and sinking for hours into coloring. My artsy wishlist is pretty simple, I guess. I would like a travel kit: a small notebook with paper that can take drawing and painting (water color), a traveling brush and watercolor kit and some pencils for drawing.
Books do matter! My favorite two right now are The Sketchbook Challenge by Sue Bleiweiss and Everything you wanted to know about watercolor by Marian Appeloff.
Wendy the painting behind you the female with lots of candy colours is looking very happy. Brushes on my list of art supplies. Thank you for another enjoyable video. Greetings from Brighton
I was so shocked about the Windsor & Newton brush, mine are cheaper from Royal & Langnickel/have the Jumbo firm and soft sets, the wood should not move around. Wanted do a shout out as I'm an American, I feel Gamblin is the best, I use their "1980" line & their Cold Wax to varnish my watercolor paintings. (for people never heard of them, the company is from Portland, Oregon) I took an oil painting class via zoom with their brand ambassador and Pete Cole the owner was one of the host, something I'll never forget. Tip: Naples Orange & Naples Yellow are massively praised for their portraiture.
It's so fun to see your new paints, and all the colors! I use the Gamsol mineral spirits to blend my Prismacolor Premier pencils! Hugs! Peggy You can glue your brushes back together! Also, If you have a can opener that side-cuts, there won't be any rough edges! Even the cans that have a pull tab, can be cut to be smooth! Great for art projects! My next art project is to put my water color paints into a palette to dry, for easier use!
The books love the exercise book and the book about light, as well as the book on color theory. I love your mediums didn't know about low scented oil mix. My wish list just got longer😊❤
The excitement of new supplies is always wonderful! My last big purchase / gift was the neocolor sets. I have a couple of gold inks, a white and a black. I'd love more colours, because I like the bottles. Though I'm not sure how I'd use them 😂 Your new books look wonderful too!
Loved this video so much needed information and I love learning as much as possible about supplies, brushes, papers....I guess I just love it all. Thank you so much Wendy.
❤❤❤ I paint vinyl reborn dolls!! Heat set oils and gamsol is my fave thinner by far! I want a trolly and organization anything! I've taken our living room up totally now no TV in it anymore!!
Loved this video also the art haul the wooden box you use for paints is a good idea... Wendy darling I rub the red tiger balm with a cotton bud till it totally soaks up and disappears on the joint you will only need a little and then wear a fingerless glove on to bed helps. Loved bools too amd swatching ❤ my wish list for art supplies would probably be a storage box like yours 😊
My wish list ... well I’d love some if the Schmincke Super Granulating Watercolours, but oh my, whick to choose. 🥰 Thanks for sharing, I’m excited for you, Susan
What is on my wishlist right now is to take a few painting classes, oils mostly is my biggest interest. But I've bought oils, acrylics, and some watercolors to get a feel for them. I do feel a need for some basics training to hopefully give me a jumpstart to get going again, maybe with a bit more confidence.
Thank you for this great video and putting so much effort into creating such valuable content all artists can benefit from. Wishing you a wonderful day!
Greetings @The Unexpected Gypsy I love your videos, they’re so calming, I tell my kids that you’re a real fairy 🧚♂️, I just recently got back into oil painting, and I want to paint on larger canvases, so an H frame is what’s on my wish list, have a great summer and thanks for sharing your world 😊.
Thank you for sharing your happy art mail. Love all the materials you shared, your knowledge and thoughts. I greatly enjoy your channel. Blessings to you all!
Well, that was fun! Thank you for sharing Wendy and a quick question...please share the color of the magenta colored Acrylic Ink. Thank you so much!💙💜🌈💫🙋♀️
I love the long videos! As for art supplies I would like to get some oil paint as I currently work mainly with watercolour and acrylic. But what I really would love is a beautiful wood flat file cabinet to hold my artwork I'm working on.
You are so delightful to watch and listen to... I struggle with colour mixing some times every now and then I fluke a beautiful colour, never to be repeated... hahaha... art supply wish would be a beautiful set of Gouache Paints... with new some brushes... I would be in heaven... Thank you so much for sharing your talent and knowledge...
It was lovely to see you so happy with your new supplies! Thank you for unboxing with us! I love books too so it was very fun being part of your joy! I especially loved seeing the books about color! I loved your color mixing "class" too! It was very helpful to see what happened when you mixed colors. Now I am between & betwixt wanting/buying some professional watercolor pans .. I am looking at the Daniel Smith watercolors/sets/sticks. BUT I am also looking at getting a new computer for digital painting since I have a graphic tablet and a painting program.
I love that Figure drawing book we can actually draw in - your channel is bad for my bank balance.😊I bought the right side of the brain book you recommended already.🤣
Love the beautiful olive and sage greens you achieve with colour mixing. Even greens with the tiniest hint of pink too. ...mouthwateringly wonderful! And a great way to play and relax. Thanks as ever Wendy xx
Pan Pastels have been on my wish list for a long time now. I'd love to try them, but they're very expensive so I always put it off. Maybe one day I'll take the plunge.
Thank you for this video. I hope your house search is coming along? Blessings and hugs to you, from Jilly and Madge, the rescue greyhound, from West Devon, England. xxx
I like how had the other paints organized with the clip. I bought a bunch of them when I watched that video. I put the color book in my cart plus a few others. 😂 I have a problem of wanting too many. Thanks for your videos.
I very much enjoyed the video, seeing all of your new supplies. To answer your question about what is on my wishlist, I have a number of items. Highest on my list though is that I'd like a couple of nice watercolor brushes.
Thank you for sharing the excitement of opening your packages!! I love mixing colors and watching colors being mixed - it is truly magical! Dark Turquoise blue is so yummy!
I too have been ordering a few new Art supplies I got some kneaded erasers for my sketching and also a tomboy micro eraser which it great ,and a few new watercolor brushes Princeton Neptune size 4 is epic and a set of brushes just for painting flowers 💐!Art supplies are so expensive and I bought expensive Archers watercolor paper for he first time wow such good watercolor paper cold pressed saving it special projects!
I have the book The Secret Lives of Colour, it was a birthday present and it is an interesting read. I am interested in your other books you got and did order one and rest on wish list. Thank you so much for sharing Wendy and talking more about colour. As you said as we are always Learning and evolving. Xx
Amazing video! I love this haul it sure feels as good as Christmas and a Birthday party to get art supplies and art books. I have a long list of art supplies, acrylic paint, I want and I'm determined to get them one day. Recently I purchased some Derwent colored pencils and the Kum long point pencil sharpener you recommended and that's a game changer! 💜
U left art college same year as me. I’m also going through a reintroduction of what I learned at the beginning. To rediscover something from that and something new I hope. 😊
A book press for bookbinding is currently my most sought after art item. I’m trying to figure out how to make a more permanent one myself to be thrifty as my current set up is more hassle than it’s worth 😂. Sending good energy your way, always a joy to watch your videos!!!
I have some inexpensive cutting boards and I'm going to drill holes in them and fasten them with carriage bolts and wing nuts. I've wanted one since the 90s! Right now I have a 10 pound bag of buck shot that bought myself. I put it on top of whatever I need to press!
My art supply wish list is on gong and huge! Right now, I would like the most, a travel watercolor set, more watercolor pencils (landscape colors), and stencils. It was really helpful to hear what colors you would purchase on a limited budget. As a newbie it's hard to know what colors are used the most.
Thank you Wendy your videos are always full of interesting items, The colour wheel is always a great way to start from primary school to adulthood it's always useful. Your explanation and demonstration inspires.🙏 Book selections great choices. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.🌹
Thanks Wendy I gave all of my watercolors away to my daughter when she started taking painting lessons. What a lovely excuse to purchase a few key premium colors. Thanks for the heads-up on the Windsor-Newton brushes, who'd have believe it. But there it was, wiggling away. I stayed to the end. You provided some very useful info. Thank you for the "Full Moon Fairies" poem. We all had fun trying to identify the characters on the Black Adder postage stamp. We I.D.'d Rowan and Tony, who was the other one? I see the image of King Charles III in the corner. I'll be saving that. Best to you and your James. xx
I love your comment about going back to the beginning. Particularly with figure drawing, I find myself going back to the beginning to uplevel my skills that sets me on a higher trajectory. I imagine being a master one day😄
I also have arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome having a pain cream really helps on bad days can be frustrating for sure when you need your hands to work ….Blessings
I always buy the cheap stuff but I have being changing to Winsor&Newton and I'm loving the incredible difference that it makes so creamy and vibrant colours oh I'm starting to practice in water colours done acrylic and gouache but I'm fascinated with water colours and the endless possibilities maybe if I'm brave next will be oil painting, It was a joy watching your video take care love 😊❤❤
Loveleeee video! At the top of my Art Supplies Wish List for the past 16 yrs has been an antique flat file cabinet to keep all my art work safe and snuggly! The warmth and beauty of one of those cabinets is just something I dream of..:to have thee one some day ❤️
Lovely, thank you Wendy, I’m now inspired (instead of a bit scared)with colour mixing and have put the book in my basket!! I’m a textile artist but have started combining paper, recycled and new in the last 5 years. I love natural botanical dying and printing, all the joyous happy accidents, it’s such an adventure… I will now be courageous enough to try specific colour mixing thanks to you. Hope you have a beautiful week x
I loved seeing the mixing and playing with colors. I think I need to take a day and just play with the little paints that I have. The biggest thing on my wish list is a ceramic paint palette for my watercolors.
You reminded me that I wanted to buy The Secret Lives of Colour. I've had it on my wish list for ages. Just bought it! I loved watching you mix colours and share your tips. I don't work with oils but nevertheless, so interesting.
For the cheaper brushes that come off of the handle I have found that super glue does wonders. I've not had a brush head come off since super gluing it on the inside and they are super sturdy! No wiggle like you get with tape. 🙂
Yes always helpful to have white I actually have a separate big tube of just white !I am a self taught watercolor Artist I’ve never been to art school or Art classes lots of practice !I mostly paint landscapes and flowers 💐
I enjoy your videos so much. I’m not discounting digital art but I admit that I’m feeling a kindred spirit. I find myself more and more drawn to traditional art. I used a projector a while for a basic outline of portraits. But even that eventually didn’t satisfy me. So I’m back to free hand sketching to begin paintings.
I’ve been following you for a while without getting started! Now I can see the how of mixing and I’m really fired up to start! Water colours for me first and just see how it goes. Thanks Wendy xx
Thanks Wendy for this mouthwatering colour mixing and goodies video! I need new oils, so saving for them. Yikes, they are expensive, so one or two tubes a month! Happy painting❤
Thank you, Wendy. That was truly informative about the color mixing. Let's see, my art supply wishlist: orange, light blue, and violet col-erase pencils. That's my favorite thing to draw with and I am down to nubs. Other than that, I have a ton of cheapy art supplies to play with so I feel abundant with supplies right now. ✏🧡💙💜
My wish list #1 is clay for sculpture! Haven’t done any in quite awhile and am anxious to get back into it! Thanks for sharing! Always love when you upload another video! I do wait for you! Love your work and advice!
Thankyou for the colour theory! I had noticed the difference and muddiness certain combinations result in, but now I understand the warm, cool connection.
I loved this! It was great conversation! Gamblin is made here in Portland, but all I have is a small jar of Gamsol and some printing 'plates' for their labels that were discarded years ago. I would love to try oils again, probably using M. Graham's walnut oil though. I quit oils back in the 80s because turps gave me such terrible headaches. I have dug out my copy of Gurney's Color and Light, too! He is such a wonderful explainer of painting! I've been watching the bears at Brooks Falls in Alaska this week. It is fascinating to see their fishing methods - and I realized that I've never sketched them before. My results are beginning to look less like dogs and more like the giants they are! Have a lovely week!
Thanks! and yes, the smells of yesteryear,,, remember them well! Your bears sound so perfect and yes, try oils with some less toxic thinners. There is one made of citrus from lemons!
@@theunexpectedgypsy That sounds... smells wonderful! I loved all of the smells and was fine painting by myself at home until I took classes in decorative painting - 20 women squeezed into a small area with little ventilation, each with their own jar of open turps was too much. My headaches were severe. I was in an art supply a year or so later when I spied a woman looking at the oils. I made her a deal - sold my wonderful oils for $25. I didn't want the temptation. Sigh. That was back when several women who were famous in that area got very sick. They were finger painting with oils, pointing their brushes after cleaning them and just not being careful. I think it was liver damage. So one of them, JoSonja Jansen, came up with her own acrylic paint and everyone published only with instructions for acrylic. I tried that for a while and quit altogether. About a decade later, I took up watercolors and I love it! I do mess with other things now but I do love the simplicity of water-based media. I do think that once I get my studio straightened out, I just might buy some oils. We will see!
This was a great video! It was so nice seeing you so, so 😊 happy opening your new supplies. Trying all your colors and teaching me at the same time. You were in color heaven... LOL. loved it! Enjoy your paints. Sending you hugs.🤗 as well!!
Lovely video! Thank you! Will definitely get that Story of colour book! Looks very interesting! On my wish list for art supplies is a set of micron pen fine liners! (0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 in black)

Rain and snow for 36 hours here - appreciated the blue sky moment Wendy. Thanks for sharing your fabulous new gear and books.👏⭐️🧚

Hi Vicky, have you thought to look in charity shops? They often have a craft area and I have seen pan pastels for 50p! I'm in the UK by the way. x
Thank you for this video. I hope your house search is coming along? Blessings and hugs to you, from Jilly and Madge, the rescue greyhound, from West Devon, England. xxx
That was really lovely and fun and interesting and encouraged me to have a little dibble dabble. 😊
I love the long ones♡ just a good ole play sesh. I can't wait to see more of these. Love love
My wish list is to complete my Copic marker collection and to have my ideal dedicated art room. ❤
Swatching is so calming, love it.
My art supply wish list is on gong and huge! Right now, I would like the most, a travel watercolor set, more watercolor pencils (landscape colors), and stencils.
It was really helpful to hear what colors you would purchase on a limited budget. As a newbie it's hard to know what colors are used the most.
yes, mine too, huge!! I think with a limited palette we learn so much more about colour mixing too! xxx
have to get over the idea I need a studio and just paint!
So much fun watching you unpack your goodies. Thank you for sharing. You are truly an inspiration.
Watching this forthe third time today.
Thank you Wendy.
Didn't realise you had the link with Jacksons. Great use of the link proceeds 😀
❤ Thank you with sharing your books and paints also mixing colors. I Paint sometimes too. ❤
Thank you Wendy your videos are always full of interesting items, The colour wheel is always a great way to start from primary school to adulthood it's always useful. Your explanation and demonstration inspires.🙏 Book selections great choices. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.🌹
Totally random but I LOVE your style. The dungarees with the puffed sleeved tshirt and the pleated hair is a look ❤
Oh thank you! xxxx
So helpful on mixing - thanks! I must organize my stuff before I know what to wish for - hahaha!
Wendy, your videos make me feel good😊😊😊
Thanks Wendy I gave all of my watercolors away to my daughter when she started taking painting lessons.
I imagine being a master one day😄
yes, me too, it makes sense, and I feel we learn new layers each time. You will be!!!! xxxx
I wish you all the luck and plessure with your new toys🤣
This video was not to long for me...
Thank you for this inspired video...❤
I also have arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome having a pain cream really helps on bad days can be frustrating for sure when you need your hands to work ….Blessings
What cream do you use please?
On my oil painting wishlist is the Gamblin Cobalt Teal.
The books 💕, I loved seeing them, thank you
I always buy the cheap stuff but I have being changing to Winsor&Newton and I'm loving the incredible difference that it makes so creamy and vibrant colours oh I'm starting to practice in water colours done acrylic and gouache but I'm fascinated with water colours and the endless possibilities maybe if I'm brave next will be oil painting, It was a joy watching your video take care love 😊❤❤
The biggest thing on my wish list is a ceramic paint palette for my watercolors.
there should always be time to play xxxx it's how we learn!! xxxx have fun!!
Thank you for this interesting color class.
Omg I want that color and light book so bad! It’s been on my wishlist for months haha
I love the way your mind works ❤
I’ve been following you for a while without getting started! Now I can see the how of mixing and I’m really fired up to start! Water colours for me first and just see how it goes. Thanks Wendy xx
Pretty Colors so much Fun 🤩
Thanks Wendy for this mouthwatering colour mixing and goodies video! I need new oils, so saving for them. Yikes,
they are expensive, so one or two tubes a month!
So inspired by you!🎉
I loved this!
What a great haul! ❤ Have fun with your new goodies!
I really enjoyed this colour exploration ❤
This was a great video! It was so nice seeing you so, so 😊 happy opening your new supplies. Trying all your colors and teaching me at the same time. You were in color heaven... LOL. loved it! Enjoy your paints. Sending you hugs.🤗 as well!!
oh so glad you enjoyed it xx big hugs to you as well!
I so enjoy spending time with you on UA-cam Wendy! I love your art!
Lovely video! Thank you! Will definitely get that Story of colour book! Looks very interesting! On my wish list for art supplies is a set of micron pen fine liners! (0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 in black)
