Preparing for My Art Exhibition HIGHS & LOWS + Cottage Update!

- When preparing for an art exhibition and open studio please do not do what I did when hanging paintings! Basically I had a horrid mishap and almost passed out! Also, I did a studio makeover to prep for open studio week. I really had to clean, declutter and organise to get everything shipshape! Turned out to be a wonderful room transformation to make the space work better for me too! In the end, everything worked out well and it even looked rather great so I hope to sell some paintings maybe! There's also a wee peek at the exhibtion and you can even join me for opening night! Thank you so much for keeping me company in this little corner of UA-cam. Love you all to bits, Biggest, Softest, Everythings, Wendy. Xx

Wow thank you for all your beautiful comments, truly blessed to have your company and feel so encouraged by all your bright, loving souls and words! Xx
You're a gem ❤
A little faerie told me you should start drawing/painting the cottage you want. Bring it to life, so to speak. Good to see you smiling. ❤️
What a great idea… I’d love to see what emerges on a page or canvas from that challenge!
PS as a creative too, I understand the way the studio gets “undone” or wildly creative in appearance…we creatives need to see our “stuff”, the tools & supplies we use in order to do the creating. Let’s NOT call it a mess, it is that we have so much creativity ooozing out it just spreads around. A quick tidy up and peace is restored just in time for the next creative explosion!😃😃😃 No apologies needed…..it’s just you, spread around……It’s beautiful, wonderful, creative chaos! 💖💖🥰
I'm 81 years old and I have been a messy Bessy my whole life. I keep trying to do better but I haven't achieved it yet. Like you when my studio gets such a mess I can't work anymore I sit and sort things and put them away in a similar fashion. I don't think we're alone in this situation. Many blessings to you as you look for a new place to live I believe like you do that it will come when it's meant to be and if one can truly believe that you can relax and not stress about it
I can relate to this…at almost 70 I am beginning to realise it’s ok to be who we are.😊
Being by the sea, always recharges me if I’ve slipped
You are such a sweet lovely person. There is so much vitriol on the internet, and it is lovely to tune in to a pure and gentle soul ❤ thank you.
thankyou so much,, xxx countering that stuff with our softness!! yay!
Dear lovely Soul, You shine so bright! Your work is just lovely ,Your love of life touches many hearts,Blessings!
You are such a breath of fresh air in this crazy world. Congratulations on your exhibition. Your artwork is beautiful.
means the world, thankyou so much xxxxxx
Gosh please take care, I love the haven you created with the plants as a relief
Hello from USA Wendy! Don’t feel uncomfortable about receiving thoughtful gifts. You are very likable and people want to express friendship toward you. Sending abundant big hugs…💐
Accept gifts, some people’s love language is gift giving. My daughter is one such person and I never realised.
Watching her search or make gifts for people she cares about I realised how much pleasure she gets from it.
💕😊
Sometimes being on the receiving end of someone whose love language is gift giving can be just a bit anxiety inducing, especially if you live in a small place and your own things and personal space are getting crowded. It can feel uncomfortable to set up that boundary because their intentions are pure and truly loving. I could feel Wendy's discomfort in trying to express this as I have several friends who love to give gifts and knowing how meaningful it is to them and what a hoarder I can be, I became increasingly stressed when they would give me something. Knowing that's how they showed love I had to have an awkward sit down with them and said that they didn't have to give me anything, to which they of course said but they loved doing it. So I had a bit of a compromise and said to give me things that could be used up as I tend to hoard and get overwhelmed. So now they give scented candles (or something similar) or treat me to dinner and I made a wishlist of art supplies (something I both use up and need). So perhaps our dear Wendy just needs a Throne page for her art supply wishlist. Then those who love gifting can give her something she truly wants and needs and she wouldn't have to give out an address.
@@AngelaLochCross oh yes, fantastic idea.
Your art looks so beautiful in the stairwell! You are adorable and I so enjoyed sitting down for a wee break to watch this.
Thank you so much ☺️✨✨
Well done Wendy the exhibition looked amazing, and the office in the end too. Your paintings are just so beautiful ❤️❤️xx
thank you so much x
You brighten up my rainy day here in Ireland, Wendy. I love your honesty, your Free Spirit, your empathy... I am those things too! I began teaching myself to paint last year, to heal from loss. I love painting! It is now my passion. .I am retired and put aside 2 hours each afternoon to paint...I love your exhibition....your lady in the silk dress and your mermaid are amazing! Thank you.❤❤❤
thankyou so much dear friend, happy painting to you! xx
you had me chuckling Wendy ,its so sweet to see you not knowing what you are doing ,but getting there in the end ,love and light xx
thankyou! glad to make you chuckle!!! xx
Oh darling this video brought tears to my eyes & if only you could see what we can see! Isn't this indeed the art of living, to know thyself? And to enjoy that self transcendant of inner (especially) opposition. I so appreciate, like everyone here, the BEAUTY that you are & that which you share and will ALWAYS remember our magical Ibiza meeting in 2008 as though it were yesterday. The space you're working in feels so safe & nourishing so I pray you find more & more solace in your truth & receive the love always coming your way. With love always from Ibiza (yep, still here... Julie & Little Bear (my pooch) xxxx
Congratulations on an amazing event and for the hours and hours of preparation it took. It looked fabulous. You looked radiant. And,..cheers right back at you! (and James for all his love and support) 👏 Bravo 👏
awww thankyou so much! xxxxxx
Hi Wendy. Well done on your amazing art exhibition. I wish you all the best.
I have been following you for a little while now. Your videos always cheer me up and give me hope to be me. I have a passion for creative crafts and journaling. I somehow got lost in life, to nurture my passion and just recently when I found your channel it gave me hope that I can get back to having sparkle in my life. I am in my sixties and still young at heart and don't like to be put in a "box" of being a certain way at my age. I love my freedom and to be able to express myself in arts and crafts.
What excitement going on in showing your artwork. So much for you to do and organize. We also have artists here that will show their studios to tour and their art when there is a art event happening. I'm glad you didn't faint and feeling better. I hope you did well. Much love to you. 👩🎨🎨
I always appreciate your music as well as your art and your philosophy on artful living.
I live about 70 miles from the Georgia border and I like that song!
Wishing you well, Wendy!
Same, always singing along to it.
Don't know the title so I call it Wendy's song 😊
One of my favorite sayings is, "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." 😂
I understand about finding a home or moving. I'm 57, human children but 8 cat-children. I'm in the US. I loathe moving too. I've done so much of it in my life. I've decided that moving my jalopy of a single wide mobil home to my OWN property is the best course of action. But, just how to come up with the funds is the issue. I also need a new vehicle. SHEESH! So, I stress out.
But, my thinking has turned to much like your's. It will come to me when it's time to, I just need yo work on what I need to do now, and that makes me feel a lot better.
I have a number of art/craft shows coming up so that's my focus.
You have to take care of your health. I have a chronic illness that has taken me out of work and put me on disability and stressing out only makes me go into a flare so that's totally unproductive. I'm kind of my own worst enemy in that respect. 😂
I'm glad you are okay, though! Get this, I sliced the side my finger open with...a plastic knife! 😂 Why do the smallest, most stupid little wounds hurt the most?
🧚♀️I like to paint and make fantasy creatures too, animals, landscapes and primitive decor. I'm a bit eclectic. I even repaint dolls. I'm just getting started with my art business. I've put it off for so long. I do ornaments too and that season is now! I am @adirondack_pixie on TikTok if you would like to see some of my work and kitties😊 I didn't realize you were on TikTok too so, I just followed you. I'd love it if you followed me back. I love this idea of all the people who follow us and we follow being internet "penpals". Plus, the network of mutual artist support is awesome!
I check my mail, every couple of weeks? I mean, it's mainly bills and enticements to buy more stuff! 😂
I love to watch your videos because they inspire me to get working or depending on the mood, relax and get comfy. Kind of like accepting that things are as they are and go with that flow whatever flow happens to be flowing through! 😊
Thank you for your videos!
Oh and I now have a proper UA-cam channel. Starting from scratch but I never went anywhere with the other one anyway. So no biggie l!!❤🧚♀️😂

Really really loved your framed journal page.Great idea Wendy.
Hi Wendy,
Fabulous collection!
Your humility is heartwarming, these lovely gifts are a token of appreciation for inviting us into your little corner of UA-cam 🤗
How wonderful everything turned out!!! ✌️❤️
When my blood sugar goes too low, I feel like you described. I've never fainted from it, but it's scary. Love this video. The Fairy Of The Wild is exquisite.
You are a beautiful and courageous person who creates beautiful things. Thank you for sharing all of this with us 🎨🎥
❤❤ Thank you
Moving is really stressful actually, right up there with the major life event stressors. You're right about the 'right time' - trust yourself, you'll feel when it's right. Love your work and really love the colour palette you use. Thank you for letting us into your corner of the internet - wishing you every personal success possible (the other stuff will follow). Edited: I've just started exploring journalling and found all those wonderful guides on your channel. I'm going to be doing a bit of binge watching today while I'm sitting at my sewing machine. Thanks for the inspiration and for the journalling artistry you share.
Congrats on your exhibition. Wonderful work and your studio looked great. Bravo
I’m glad you are ok. Congratulations on a wonderful show. It’s very tho😮ghtvul if you to honor the late Artist.
What a creative venue you have for your studio and exhibition space.
I particularly love the smaller painting of someone sleeping on their hands.
Overall the paintings you have hung look beautiful.
Well done Wendy you work so hard to produce this exhibition.
Remember to be kind and gentle to yourself.
Always such a joy to watch your videos!! I can relate with the low blood pressure, I'm the same way!! It was worse in my 20s. I was out at a street concert with friends back then and felt it coming on. I told my friend he needed to get me a soda quickly, he kept saying "ok, one minute". I sat down on the sidewalk, didn't help, got up and got to him just as my vision went and said "NOW, I can't even see you, get me someplace cool!" He took my hand to walk me to the convenience store on the corner. Just before I got inside my vision came back only in black and white and in negative form!!! Never had that happen before or since. Everything dark was light, light was dark. The second I felt the cool air of the store my regular vision returned. It was indeed embarrassing but at the same time a rather interesting adventure, LOL!!! Well, that one anyway. Most episodes have always been really embarrassing though I doubt anyone else thought so. Luckily, I've always had someone with me when they have happened that know what to do so I've never fully passed out. Scared a lot of people, too, especially when I was pregnant. My poor daughters have the same thing. Guess it could be worse. Your exhibit is beautiful!!! Well done and looks like it was a wonderful evening!!!
W- an idea for future open studio events. Get some inexpensive but soft , pale color fabric. (Something that will be a background not main event) or even a couple of the same shower curtains on sale, they have a rod pocket, put a erod pocket in one end of the fabric, James can figure a way to mount a curtain rod at the top of your “shop shelves” so that is all covered & just appears as a wall of lovely soft color. When you you need access to shop goodies, the curtain is easily pushed to either side, a bit of ribbon can make a quick tie back about halfway down the shelves…. You get the idea. I’ve used this strategy for many yrs, have a very useful bookshelf right as you go into my garage from the house….the curtain also limits the amount of dust that ends up on the stuff on the shelves and would protect your valuable shop stock! I think it would give a pleasing relief to the “business side” of the studio, and open studio visitors would hardly know it’s there! Thanks for sharing all you have going on and your boundless creativity. Love, love your work! And sweet spirit! Blessings on you!
Love all your art. Love all your kindness!!!😊
The journal page in the golden frame looks fabulous 😍😍
oh thankyou!!! xx
I've been having a bit of a rough day and I didn't want to waste time on UA-cam when I should be filming my own video today, but I saw you had uploaded and that is never a waste of time. I would just as likely been sitting here in my feelings and no closer to getting to my tasks of the day an hour from now if I hadn't watched. Instead it feels like 35 minutes of grounding and communing with a sister spirit. I still feel a bit weepy, but now I can smile, and I feel much more level. Thank you, dear Wendy. 🧚♂💞
Also meant to mention that your paintings look especially striking next to that red brick.
WELL DONE MY DEAR. YOU ARE SO SWEET BEST WISHES FOR YOUR COTTAGE.❤❤❤
That is such a lovely corner
Congratulations! Loved seeing your beautiful art up on the walls. I love keeping company with you as I create and clean in my studio! ❤ from Prescott, AZ
Thank you ☺️ ✨✨😙♥️
what a treat to tour your studio and breathe in the creative flow even the plants have their own song🥰
Excellent display of your talent and the joy that leaps off the canvas. Being a creature of habit is a comforting lifestyle and as I age, I find it even more important. I just know that your creations will bring pure happiness to the walls of the new owners. Thanks James for being such a bright light to dear Wendy. x's lj
Your exhibition looked beautiful! Congratulations!
well done on doing your exhibition looked like a lot of work. ❤
It is amazing to see your art as you work on it and then see it in an exhibit. I am not a studied artist and only dabble in Water Color and Batik (usually only when I am in transition). I lose momentum easily. Last year we had a flood from our plumbing and haven't done anything creative in a year. This video gives me a little bit of a push in the positive direction. Thank you for sharing. ❤🧚♀✨
I just found your channel recently and wanted to say you are such an inspiration. You are authentic, corky and unapologetic with being yourself. I’m here for all of it! Watching your videos inspires my creative spirit. Thank you! 🙏 Love your artwork so much.. the mermaid is gorgeous. 🧜🏻♀️💕
So wonderful to see your paintings on display and to catch a glimpse of some not seen before...what talent you have - magical.
Really Beautiful!!!!!!
A beautiful celebration of Your Creativity. Well Done Wendy and of course kudos to James for all his love and support ❤
I wish I was there! What an amazing studio experience ❤❤❤
The red headed fairy is precious…..she’s beautiful!! Hope your sale goes wonderfully!!
Your paintings are beautiful and look awesome on display! Congratulations 🎉❤
Sometimes we need these events to give us a little push to get things done. Well done, and good luck on the exhibition. Thanks for sharing
Poor Wendy, it was the sudden exhaustion that made you feel faint all of a sudden, I am sure. I have done so little in the past few years, due to my anxiety, so when I have to suddenly "rise to the occasion" with sorting out my stuff with someone else, I can keep going for a bit, and then I crash - it is a horrible feeling. You have done so well, as others have said on here, in having your pictures at the exhibition (the name of an album) and you are being yourself, and that is what we all love you for on here. Hope that you will find a home near to me, as it would be great to be able to meet you and James in person! Blessings and hugs to you, from Jilly & Madge the rescue greyhound, from West Devon, England. xxx
Wendy, you are just so lovable and I have much respect for your authenticity and openness. Your paintings are so
beautiful and the way you hung them flows so well and creates such an ambience. I hope many, many people flow through the gallery space to breathe in your essence and style of painting especially the fairies. I must say your studio is so magical and a mirror image of you and your creations. It's a lovey space full of life and living and everything an artist is. Thank you for sharing 💜💙your artistic life with us. You have given us so many wisdom talks and stories and you've been a lovely friend to so many of us albiet a world away in just being you in ups and downs and simply the human experience. Your paintings uplift and indeed keep our 'lights shinning bright'. Have a great show!!!💓😇🎨🎶
Magical place displaying Magical Art.. bEST wISHES.
Beautifull ❤
Thank you Wendy, for the love filled cup of Art. You show big story pieces on canvases but the pretty framed journal spread 💗🔮🦋🌻
Wendy you did a fab job hanging your paintings and I’m not surprised you helped others.
I’m sorry you had a bit of a wobble but at least you did not faint and hurt yourself. And the folks were helpful to you. I understand the embarrassment but you know it’s okay my friend.
Love all that you showed and brave enough to open up your studio too. So happy James was there too. Looked like a good event. Hope you managed to sell a piece or too… or sold out…
Thank you for all your vulnerability and being so down to earth. You are loved my so many of us that will never meet in person but we are all definitely a family of like minds.
By the way I’ve purchased , The Artist Way from Thrift Books and looking forward to reading it based on yours and a few of your followers recommended.
This weekend past I had my two youngest grandkids and we did art projects on wood. The did Angels and they did a fab job with very little help from me. We do these Christmas projects every year and they are 7 and 11 almost 12. The two oldest are in college now so they don’t do it now but worked with them too. Every year their mom puts up all their projects on the walls. She loves them.
I might say they are details and very fun . Noah who is 11 days it’s great how I come up with ideas every year for them to do. It’s great for us each year.
Hope you had a brilliant time during the two eeeks this art show was going on..
Sending you lots of love and warm hugs . ❤❤❤❤
Congratulations on your recent Exhibition! 🥳💐💕 Everything looked absolutely beautiful, cheers to you Wendy! 💐🥂🧚🏻
I couldn’t sleep last night so I was clearing the floor in my art room along side you. I’m normally quite minimalist so I don’t know why I’ve bought so many supplies recently. I think I need a good clear out. Thanks for the tip about fainting, I’m going to try that, my blood pressure goes too high then too low I can’t keep up. My hubby is away right now so I knew exactly what you meant about treasuring James being around. Here I am chatting like you are in the room with me 😳 wishing you health and lots of James time 💜
I hope you're okay and I'm glad you have your James there. Love your channel and your art. But, this one made me so sad at the end. I used to have an art gallery & my family was there with me. It was mostly my youngest son Colin - who went home to Jesus so early and it was last year. He was so close with me and we were so much alike. He was always a part of whatever I did, including my gallery and shows. I thought about doing it again but I really couldn't do it without Colin, not physically, but emotionally (it's too sad). God bless you, hug your loved ones and I'm so sure you do. Thanks for the video. Beautiful work (stay safe girl). 😘
Congrats on the exhibition!!🤗👍👍👍👍Now I see them hang on the wall, they look coherent en lovely together. I love the mermaid in spite of being damaged. Take good care of yourself. You are deer to a lot of us😘
Wonderful Wendy, you should be so proud of all you have achieved, your artwork looked awesome. ❤👏😊
WOOOHOOOOOOOO WENDY!!! I have been watching You for a few years now (not sure how long ) and well done on finishing the Mermaid . So lovely to see You gorgeous Lady done too and the framed Journal page looked Magical . I have really been feeling a bit wacko myself but I am blaming those cheeky retrograde Planets .. about 6 of the rascals LOL You have been so productive and I hope You pat Yourself on the back for all that You have done ...I LOVE YOU!!!! The New Moon in Virgo is a great time to make plans , sometimes though it is best to be grateful for the tiny things as it is the Abracadabra of Abundance . So very grateful to have found You as You have helped me more than You imagine!! xxxx Edit... just got to the part about Your "turn" , so glad You had people around You to help x
Loved this video! Your paintings - your gallery showing and the music was wonderful! All fabulous! Yes, take your time and take a break - no rush - the right place will come in it's time.
Dear Wendy, you've become a little spot of breathing space, solace and peace for me when I watch your videos. Your studio looks beautiful! as do you. Even though I do have a corner of our small rental, I so look forward to the day when I have a separate studio space to make jewelry, paint, draw, to just create. 💖 You are very lucky to have a loving partner in James, I'm so lonely in my 16 year marriage. Yesterday was my birthday and I didn't even get those 2 words most people say on that day. Apologies if that's TMI, but it really saddened me and made me long for some kindness. Anyway, I'm enjoying your content, 🥰I'm considering joining your patreon. You're a sweetheart and make me smile, thank you. Hope you had many sales. Xx Jenn
That all looks fabulous, you are so inspiring. I hope it all went well, your little chats have been keeping me company thank you. 🤗
I LOVE that journal page. Looks so lovely :)
Greetings from salt Lake City Utah, United States.
We are near the same age. I love you so much. You are beautiful and so inspiring. I love your beautiful heart and your gorgeous hair. I started wearing thumb rings because of you. ❤❤❤❤
aww, thankyou so much! xx
I can so relate to all uve said. We are hard on ourselves so often....not worth it. You make me smile in a good way.Your plants are beautiful and look so happy and healthy. Love your work Wendy you deserve much joy and happines. ❤❤❤
You worked so hard to get ready. Your paintings are wonderful and displayed perfectly. So exciting and worth the hard work. Take care❤
So glad you are better, congrats🎉
sweet Wendy, never say sorry about all the things in your studio. As a creative person myself that is normal i think. It feeds us in our creative proces. If i do not have clutter i do not live. creatively at least. Loved youre video, and i hope you can enjoy the exebiton! Thanks for showing how you clean up your things. I am going to sort my stuff as wel and make changes in my room so that i got air for new things. Thank you so much. Love to you and James.
awww thankyou!! just a little embarassed!! big loves
Don't know when your studio exhibition was Wendy but it looked amazing. You are so prolific, well done Wendy. Love to you both XX
Congrats Wendy, everything looks great! Wish I was there to see it in person. You lift me up when I am down, (like we all get) I enjoy your videos so much. Take care of yourself, lots of hugs.
Not only was your blood pressure low, it’s possible that you were dehydrated, as well. I don’t have low blood pressure but I get dehydrated pretty easily and I have the same symptoms: nausea, wobbly knees, dysphoria and feelings of fainting. And taking breaks when you’re doing projects. Set an alarm, even, and take a break every single hour. That’s my advice❤
And a good time was had by all!
Exhibition looked fantastic.
thankyou!! xxx
Ahh people get such joy from sending gifts and giving to others. Seems a shame to deny them that 😔 Some of us could ask why we're uncomfortable with recieving. It's something I'm learning to do. We are worthy 🙏
Every artist needs to be messy - it's part of the creative process. If I were visiting your studio, I'd want to see all your paints and mess everywhere. It makes it so interesting with colours and ideas all over the place. Wish I lived in the UK so I could purchase your artwork.
Everything looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Your paintings are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing all of the highs lows and mishaps. Hope the exhibition went really well X
Everything looked so lovely for the show. I hope it was a smashing success!!
Just joined your Patreon at last!❤
Congratulations on having enough art to show to the world! ;) I hope it turns out well!
lovely venue showing your beautiful artwork, music entertainment & ambience is fabulous
I love that people send you things. I'm sorry that you feel bad about it. I am sure that it is a cultural difference that some people don't understand. I would answer them by a sweet card for them to treasure. What a thrill would that be? Let people love you. If someone wants to knit a scarf for you what a wonderful thing that is for both of you. People are so lonely, they might think they know you. I'm glad you are a kind person.
Wendy, you are so loved and appreciated. Always enjoy your videos! Miss you when you’re off.
aww thankyou much! sorry i'm not here everyweek xxxxxxx
I know what you mean about feeling odd about receiving gifts. I know that the folks sending get a lot of joy, (or at least I do), planing them, wrapping them and putting them in the post to you. So, please don't deny them that joy. Hugs Bright blessings to you.
Sarah
yes, giving is such joy, it's a dilemma I 've felt for a while but I do hear you... xx big hugs xxx
It could have been shock that made you feel faint Wendy. One time back in my youth we were rushing to get to the pub before last orders, as we did in those days 😂 but as I stepped out of a car the driver let it roll forward a little, right onto my foot that I had just put on the ground to step out. My foot was trapped so he had to reverse the car off me. It didn't even really hurt and I waked into the pub, then after about 2-3 mins I got ringing in my ears and almost fainted, had to sit with my head between my knees to get the blood back to my brain (I was sober, we were coming back from the music studio and hadn't drank anything). I was fine within 15 mins like nothing had ever happened. Weird how our emotions can impact our bodies so fast and hard!
Wendy, your art exhibition and studio looked so amazingly beautiful!! Everything turned out wonderfully for you, you deserve many blessings for all your hard work and dedication to your art! I so enjoy your videos, and sharing time with you! I can tell by the sparkle in your eyes, when James got back home, he's your rock and true love! So very happy for you both!! You have a kind soul, and it shows through your paintings and journals and your studio. Just remember, "everything is always working out for you"! Keep the faith!! Love, and hugs from Sheffield Lake, Ohio!!:)))
Beautiful I can tell you’ve worked very hard.
Well done. Your journal pages are lovely.
Just discovered your channel. Your art is beautiful! Loving your videos. You’re inspiring me to get creative again 💜
Wendy, would you be ok to share where you get your artist jumpsuits from?
I absolutely love the one you have on in this video and have been searching for one and can’t find one like this!
Never feel guilty when people send things, remember, they want to and it makes them happy., nice to see how happy and outgoing you are, always remember, you be you and bever worry about any of those people that send you negative messages. ..love your artwork.....gwen
Your lovely flower in your hair today told me you need to wear more red. That color suits you best!
Your sounding much more perky. So glad. ❤
yes! love that thankyou xxx
Awe great video Paul s way of saying thankyou for putting up some of his paintings 🤍🫶🏼✌🏼💃🪃💫🔮
Love the Mermaid 🧜🏽♀️ 😊
You awesome wonderful lady. Your work is beautiful, and inspiring. So sad you have the low blood pressure issue, very glad you know how to work with it. Love you maximum. plus also to James. Love, love, hugs too.
