WIKIPEDIA SYNOPSIS
Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. Sean, I’m glad you enjoyed it. But this entry in the franchise didn’t do it for me. I thought it had some pacing issues, To much exposition, and a bloated cast of characters that take away from what we want to see, which is Tom cruise.
I also think the cuts back and forth during the motorcycle scene was very choppy and didn’t let me appreciate it in its entirety.
But Hayley atwell was amazing. I think dead reckoning is one of the weaker films of the franchise.
Wow, this is one of the most negative reviews I’ve seen on this film…
Rank the Mission Impossible films Sean
@@calebharder208 that's the plan
@@lukerota1547 Yeah people really enjoyed the film, and by no means do I hate it. It just didn't blow me away. I'm ranking the MI Movies soon and Dead reckoning is going to fall near the bottom.
I'm excited to see Sean's list.
Saw it last night, and thought it was absolutely incredible. Tom Cruise is truly a legend, going above and beyond with the stunts and action sequences in this film.. and risking his life for our entertainment. The AI villains were great, and something unique and fresh for the franchise.
An easy winner, and one of my favourite action films of all time.
Makes you wonder what's in store for part🤯😳🤯😳🤯
Hey Sean, just wanted to say I love your shirt! TGUK was incredibly influential for me growing up.
I have to completely disagree about needing to see the previous movies before Dead Reckoning. I went in blind to this, never having seen any of the others before & ended up absolutely LOVING it. Never for a second felt like I was missing something. When I watched the first 6 (after seeing 7) a few plot points clicked together, but nothing that was pivotal to enjoying 7.
Saw it and 🔥
Spoilers:
I was actually really disappointed in this one. Story was convoluted. And the death of a major character to further the plot for Ethan really ticked me off. Hayley Atwells character literally replaces another key character
Currently watching every mission impossible movie in preparation
Same here, just have to watch Fallout. Forgot how awesome these movies are lol
I was gonna do that but I got an early screening on July 9 so I js watched it without preparing
Same. On fallout rn.
Same! For like the fifth time!
Yep I did the same, minus 2
I was blown away by how well Pom fit into the villainous henchman role. So very anti mantis
She was terrifying and Ethan was trying to get away from her and not fight her. Pom provided an excellent performance!
This was my first ever early access film! Awesome experience, everyone in my theater loved it
Same!
How’d you get the early access?
@@metalmanny666 the cinemark in my city was playing it and I was luck enough to be looking for tickets in the small amount of time they were offering
Saw it at early screening it was AWESOME Tom Cruise doesn't disappoint and got my first movie poster at the premiere

I wish they hadn't killed Ilsa, she's the most badass female spy and I really wanted her to retire with Ethan and live a small "Bruce Wayne in Paris with Selina" life
Just got out of the theater. Awesome movie. It only reinforces the fact that Tom Cruise is the only person in Hollywood who’s willing to do what no one else is willing to do. I’ll have to sit on it a bit to see where it falls in my ranking, but it’ll definitely be in the Top 4 of the franchise.
Awesome man 🔥 I gotta wait til Friday 😅
@@NinthShinigami Enjoy! I think there’s a very small chance that it’ll disappoint you!
@@MichaelTomsyck I completely doubt it’ll disappoint lol
@@NinthShinigamiI don’t think thats what he actually meant but he just worded it really weird😂😂
It was an excellent film! MI franchise is one of the best at getting better with each film.Felt a bit long in spots, but the action was worth it.
I dont think I breathed during the cliff jump. I dont think its better than Fallout, nothing will ever top Henry Cavill squaring up during the bathroom scene
I have to disagree. I did a total rewatch of all the mission movies and this is the second worst one behind mi2. I thought it was way too long. I thought the AI concept was really stupid. That stupid key was too much involved in the plot. And Tom cruise had too much of a crush on Hayley Attwell. Good actions though. 6.5/10
Extremely hyped for this, sounds like action movie heaven. We're only halfway through the hear and we've already gotten several movies which many people consider amazing. 2023 is already about as good, if not better, than 2022
This ones brilliant if you like tje previos mission impossible film this one will also be good
I am Indian this MI7 record even SRK(super star of India) like and this overthinking avtar 2 well
I’m not gonna lie, personally I don’t have many movies with a score of 8/10 and higher for the year so far. That’s where I consider the “amazing” level. Looking at my list I only have like 10 or 12. Mind you that’s still pretty good but I’ve seen 30 films so far in the year. Almost every other movie has a 5 or low 6/10 from me. However, that’s just my two cents. I do think there’s a bit more hype for movies this year than there was last year
@@NinthShinigami 10 or 12 within the year? That really is great
@@NinthShinigami wow I am working bollywood technology systems for you I think u move Netflix or paramountplus better series her but if u consider Big theater MI7 or other big movie same thing
I became a Haley Atwell fan after seeing this on IMAX. She absolutely killed it, acting and action! I could easily see her in a lead role in a John Wick, James Bond, Extraction type of thing
She's already got that kind of thing, Agent Carter
@@ninjanibba4259 That’s TV not movies
@@HoopleHeadUSA so? It's still popular enough
You know what i loved? Chris mcq and Tom did try something new. Not same rehash of all previous entries. Such an exhilarating blockbuster
One thing this movie does fantastically is pacing. It doesn't feel as long as it is at all and flows nicely.
Haley Atwell in this film is what a strong woman in the movies should be (wake up Hollywood). A GREAT MOVIE.
This movie was so good. The stunts this man Tom Cruise did are crazy…what a film
Can’t wait to see this. Each movie just gets better and better. The first 3 movies IMO weren’t very good but 4, 5, and 6 were fantastic. 6 is my favorite so far and I hope 7 will be better
1 was good, 2 was bad, 3 was ok, 4 great, 5 n 6 amazing.
it is phenomenal! You will love it!
@@scruffd0g193 3 is better than 5
1 is a little boring, 2 is underrated, 3 is great, 4 was really good, 5 was great, 6 was amazing
I thought 7 was great but I have a few issues with the story, the villains, and Ilsa which I think what they did with her was a mistake.
I feel like I saw a totally different movie. This movie is somehow getting near universal praise but I thought it was just ok, and much, much worse than McQuarrie's previous two. The editing didn't flow, and the writing of the dialogue nowhere near as sharp as other entries. It definitely feels like a story stretched thin so they could make it 2 parts. The main villain was bland. The handling of Ilsa Faust I found particularly egregious.
Things I did like: Paris, Shea Whigham and Greg Tarzan Davis reacting to everything, and The Hunt for Red October opening.
Just got home from the theater; definitely believe the hype! While it isn’t my favorite M:I film, it has incredible action and a very interesting story. Tom Cruise always delivers
Me personally it wasn’t all that great….just average but very entertaining
yeah, definatlely overated
Even though Ilsa left the movie early, I think she’ll be back in the next one. The Entity needs to believe that she’s not a threat and that may be its downfall. Why and how she departed the team didn’t seem to have an affect on the team and I think that’s very revealing. Of course, I may be very wrong thinking this.
I don’t know if bringing back ilsa would be a good idea
My fav has gotta be Ghost Protocol
I was able to watch an early screening of it, and I will say, it very good. However, it feels like a very different tone then the other ‘bad robot’ MI movies. Also, the beginning kind of dragged for the first 15 minutes. Everything else was stellar.
Yea I notice that too. After bad robot and this franchise parted ways, it's like the tone and action of 4 and 5 (which happen to be my favorite) left with it.
The dialogue felt a bit rudimentary, but other than that this is amazing. The whole theatre went pin drop silence when the big stunt happened. And the movie was actually really funny. I enjoyed it. My 3rd favourite as of now after Rogue Nation and Fallout.
The dialogue was terrible.
@@DaBIONICLEFan i wouldn’t say it was entirely terrible, but it was definitely mid.
My thought after the movie was "this was a part 1?" Obviously... it was, but the feeling of the movie was definitely the full package and I was really happy about that.
I did quite like Across the SpiderVerse, but it didn't feel like a full movie the way this one did.
Ah. Got to the part where you mention this. Yes. Happy to see you agree about the SpiderVerse.
Yes I'm with you on that. I just saw both back to back and this one did feel complete compared to Spidey.
I think this movie is a 4/5 for me. It’s a good movie, I just expected it to be top tier amazing and it didn’t quite reach that level for me. I mostly felt this plot wasn’t great and I didn’t like the AI aspect of it very much. Still thoroughly enjoyed it, but I expected more from it :/
The skydiving stunt in this movie was very underwhelming. Sorry, but there was no gratifying pay off to that. If you seen the movie, you’ll get what I mean.
This movie was insane. Holy. A new type of cinematography. John Wick style.
I still thought it was good, but I think this is my least favorite in the series. There's always been melodrama in the series' dialogue, but it really bothered me this time. I think it was my least favorite set piece at least among the recent ones. I was really looking forward to there being a bunch of analog gadgets in the climax, and they basically just pay it lip service and go on. I'm still excited for the sequel but not as much as I hoped.
Great movie but I think it was clearly inferior to the previous 3 MI movies. Some of the dialogue was laughable and some of the characters felt paper thin
Tom Cruise makes the IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE!
I’m starting to believe that there is nothing that this man cannot do…
His mission has always been to showcase why films are made for a theatrical setting, and it is a mission he will always choose to accept and deliver an experience unlike anything you have ever witnessed before!
Dead Reckoning Part One continues Tom Cruise’s death defying stunt extravaganza in what is without a question the most exhilarating and exciting blockbuster of the year, making it one of the most outstanding action films ever created.
I saw this last night, I really loved it, especially after spending the last week re-watching, my main take away from last night was that the pacing was significantly better than the last few after re-watching the okd ones. I really loved it
Mission impossible: ranking all movies I saw in my life
I liked it but was slightly disappointed. Felt way too silly and convoluted at times
Completely agree, thought the villain was lame and bringing back that bad guy was weak too, considering he basically wants to destroy the world with no motive. Thought the plot was stupid too
I watched the movie without watching any of the other mission impossible movies. It's the best cinema-movie I've ever watched.
Best MI yet just think the villan in this one is so dangerous, the things it could do and affect is mind blowing loved it.
Dean Reckoning, Oppenheimer, Dune 2, Killers of the flower moon, Napoleon
We're getting a lot of great movies the rest of the year!
I loved this movie. I was blown away and it definitely satisfied my expectations. I definitely can’t wait for part 2 to see how the story completely wraps up since the main threat is still out there.
Solid MI film. For the good the characters and action continue to be incredible. The cast has amazing chemistry and Cruise is a legend. On the meh side the AI plot is kind of mediocre and feels more like a low budget version of Person of Interest. I would put that aspect on the lower tier of the franchise. For the bad it is really just the one character death. I personally would have picked a different one as it felt more like a weird character swap in the movie than actually emotionally resonating. Maybe there were behind the scenes reasons for it going down like that.
I had the privilege of seeing this back in April with Tom Cruise and Lorne Balfe and producers in the same theater... Unforgettable experience and man oh man was this outstanding. I had to keep my mouth shut for months and it was torture
How’d you get access to that?

not really a spoiler but so glad this one had the best resolution of the part one movies this year. like it’s a cliffhanger there’s a lot unresolved but it does wrap up enough, similar to infinity war

Obviously they shouldn’t have killed Ilsa
The movie is definitely overrated but there was a lot of action and this whole movie is just set up for the next one
Honestly what did people expect godfather 2 lol.
Can't wait! Seeing it Saturday. If Sean had realy nothing bad and loved it so much...
Deffiently not my favourite but was a fun watch. I couldn’t quite buy into the AI plot line but I’m interested in part 2.
Saw it today! Was awesome, I’d say it compares to the previous 3 pretty well. Maybe my second favorite but I love 4,5,6, and 7 so much
I had the chance to work on this film, so it's awesome to hear it doing so well! :D Going to see it this weekend (and at last, catch my name in the credits of a blockbuster movie :P)
The exposition was well done especially amongst the intelligence heads. They didn’t even know about the IMF but, we the audience have known since the first movie. To see them back briefed about its existence and their shock was exciting.
Had a really fun time watching it and it definitely worked really well as a part one film
Paris was THE MVP of this movie man!
It could have been 20 minutes shorter
I'm so pumped. I like all of the Mission Impossible movies...with two being the clear weakest, but I can even find some things about that film to enjoy. As a whole, it's one of my favorite franchises. Hot take maybe, but I slightly prefer it to Bond even.
Just saw the movie 2 hours ago I loved it, its my Favorite Mission impossible, but its my 2nd favorite movie of the year next to John Wick 4, as the year goes it could change but for now it lands 2nd on year and, 1st on series.
Loved this movie. This might be my favorite in the franchise. They really just keep getting better.
Kinda. 5 was better than 6 imo.
Disney should have their eyes open for how much money this movie makes.. how to write your men AND women in a movie
I want missision impossible in outer space.
Somehow this franchise continues to get better and better this edges out Fallout for me favorite Action Movie of All Time and Takes Across The Spider-averse for me which previously was my Movie of the Year. The Thought of this One Being Possibly Topped is Astonishing to Me
*Mission:* *Impossible* *-* *Dead* *Reckoning* *P1*
Just finished watching it and a bit overrated by the masses but still good. I don't think it's the best MI film. I think Fallout is still better and Ghost Protocol remains by far my favorite.
Ghost Protocol is like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade of the MI franchise where it's the most fun and funniest. My biggest issue is the MacGuffin was the submarine key about this AI "entity". I was completely lost in the story..
*SPOILERS*
I'm mad that Rebecca Ferguson and Pom Klementieff's characters died. I love Ilsa Faust! And I thought Paris could remain alive and be part of Ethan's crew. But I guess it's no Fast series where everyone can come back from the dead which is stupid. The Fast only wishes to be as good as the Mission franchise.
The women in the Mission franchise are generally awesome. Look at all these actresses who were part of it: Emmanuelle Béart, Thandie Newton, Maggie Q, Keri Russell, Michelle Monaghan, Paula Patton, Léa Seydoux, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, and Hayley Atwell.
Isla was ranked #1 for most badass female character in the MI franchise and they kill her off! I'm pissed! 😡 She was such a badass in Rogue Nation using her thighs like Famke Jannsen in GoldenEye. Bring back Jane Carter then. Paula Patton is not the greatest actress but her Jane can kick ass! Bring back Jeremy Renner too.
One of the reasons why I love the MI franchise is the women are as equally dangerous and useful as the men. It doesn't try to be WOKE like someone we know who runs Lucasfilm with more annoying female characters. The females don't come off as annoying or helpless. Like Atwell's character was doing the work on that train. Females can take care of themselves in this franchise.
Another reason why I love the MI franchise is it's probably the closest thing we have at having a Metal Gear Solid live-action movie franchise. A lot of the characters are very 2D, black or white, the way James Bond films are. Not gray like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. But it's still the closest to having a Solid Snake with all kinds of espionage.
Great to see a lot of actors and actresses I know. Two carryovers from Top Gun: Maverick were in it: Charles Parnell (Warlock) and Greg Tarzan Davis (Coyote). Great to see Esai Morales (La Bamba, My Family as Chucho) still getting roles. Great to see Indira Varma and Cary Elwes who I saw in BlackBerry. Then of course: Tom, Simon, Ving, Hayley, Rebecca, Vanessa, and Pom.
I thought the train scene at the end was awesome!! It's a mixture of the trailer scene in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and the opening shot from Uncharted 2. But Gabriel was kicking ass. He lays down Grace and then kills Ilsa, my favorite female character of the entire franchise. But I guess it's a way to raise the stakes for the next one.
Grace is just as untrustworthy as Helena Shaw but she doesn't come off as smug, annoying, and unfunny like Phoebe's character was. But Grace is a low-life like Helena was.
My MI Favorites
1. Ghost Protocol (by a lot!!!)
2. Fallout
3. Dead Reckoning Part One
4. Rogue Nation
I've never seen MI 1, 2, and 3 yet. I'll watch them this week. But from my understanding, the first 3 are bottom 3 with Part 2 widely regarded as the worst one. MI didn't get really good until 4 when Christopher McQuarrie started writing it.
Overall: B or 8/10
Shocking to say this, but I enjoyed The Flash a little more than this. But I'm planning to watch MI7 a few times. My opinions could change. I haven't seen a lot of movies this year but my top 4 are Air, BlackBerry, The Flash, and MI7.
I definitely enjoyed MI7 more than GotG V3 and Indy 5. Haven't seen Across The Spider-Verse yet. I still rank Quantumania as the worst film of the year. Beau Is Afraid is a bit misunderstood that first viewing. But the images stay with you as Maggie (deepfocuslens) has said like a nightmare you can't forget. It's similar to the moments you see in Mulholland Drive.
Please bring back Paula Patton if they already killed off Rebecca Ferguson's character. I'm still pissed Ilsa died! Hayley's Grace will be a worthy replacement but it hurts Ilsa is gone. And I wanted more of Pom. No more being the comic relief as Mantis in Guardians. She was a badass in this film. McQuarrie writes very good female characters while Kathleen Kennedy inserts annoying ones.
Ghost Protocol Hallway Projection Scene

^ This scene still cracks me up nearly 12 years later. Even though it had a weak story, MI4 was so much fun like Indy 3 and Fast Five. We got Hoodie Ethan Hunt.
I don't know if there will ever be another Mission as fun as that one from late-2011. The last three lost that Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade-like humor and fun while MI4 has the highest replay value for me.
Pom not dead her pulse still going at the end
So Excited To Watch This Movie Looking Forward To Seeing Tom Cruise Kill It Again!!😁
Definately my favourite reviewer. Your talk about all the aspects in depth but are not robotic about it at all. Great charisma 👍

This is the first time since 2019 (Avengers Endgame) that I leave the theater completely 100% satisfied. When I started to believe the blockbuster industry was already doomed with no coming back, this movie restored my fate
This movie is going to make a lot of money.
Saw it last night, watching again tomorrow and Sunday. It’s superb!
This movie was absolutely amazing, a must watch in theaters. Kind of hard to rank them since they are all (except the 2nd one) good but I can confidently say it is a top 3 mission impossible movie. 9.8/10
I like Ilsa very much, She is beautiful, cute, sexy, fighting looks cool and good. Since Part 5, I don't like Grace's role. Grace look like Ethan's burden.
I just got back from watching this movie and i thought it was great!
I haven't seen any of the mission impossible films, and from what story i was given i found it boring, the stunts were crazy and amazing fighting was amazing but the whole ai thing was hardly explained at all, characters were annoying, the whole plot is all over the place, and the mcguffin key thing is so boring. Overall 5/10.
I very sad and unfortunate. Ilsa has been helping Ethan since part 5, 6. It seems that she has always loved and sacrificed herself for Ethan. I don't like Grace at all. There is not much aura and it's extremely annoying.
So excited to watch this tomorrow! If it’s as good as the rest of the series, I will be at the theater multiple times for this.
My thoughts on the film it's a remake of the first Mission Impossible movie right down to Kittridge, Dutch angles
Just reading and comparing comments to Indy 5. Chalk and cheese.
Am I the only one who was a bit disappointed? I think Fallout set a really high bar and this one felt like a step down.
I was very confused about the villain I didn’t like the ai part only problem for me
Sean, I already thought you were a cool dude, but now with the Get Up Kids shirt you solidified
Having been to the theaters since John Wick 4, cant wait to see it tomorrow!
This movie has probably the best Spy movie villain: AI
Why would anyone judge a movie based on that trash website rotten tomatoes
I watched it and I don't think it's better than spider verse like Def not better than spider verse
I appreciated the fast x parallels: same set of stairs in Rome and then someone blowing up a bridge at the end😂
My only issue is they showed 2 behind the scenes things for this movie before the movie like come on lol.
The chase in Rome was nesely identical to the scene in Fast X. Not a problem but it took me out of it.
Watched yesterday such an amazing experience❤ totally great time at the theatres
I absolutely LOVED it! 10/10 for me!
I have a question, when tmnt mutant mayhem comes out can you rank every single tmnt movie even the ones that were not released in theaters?
Interested if you are going to do a more in depth spoiler review at some point?
My number one movie of the year is spiderverse no way this is better in my opinion
My dad is actually incredibly disappointed by M:I now because of this movie. He disliked it very much because of the villain and said it just didn’t work for him. Meanwhile, I LOVED IT.

I just saw this last night and I thought it was fantastic 20 out of 10
