I love Mission 1. It really holds up because it's so classical in style. It feels the most like a real "film" of any of the movies. Its got a plot requiring you to engage your intellect which I really appreciate...And SPOILER ALERT.... the fact that most of the team is killed off in the first few minutes is so bold and unexpected. And its pretty concise and not overblown in its runtime. Nowadays it's all about trying to do the next big stunt, this one was all tension snd suspense which I really dig.
Just started watching the Mission Impossible franchise for the first time and I really liked this first movie. I was surprised I liked it so much because I don’t like James Bond and other movies like this but it really worked for me. I’m nervous about watching the second one because everyone seems to hate it.
mission impossible watch order 5. mission impossible 2 (because of the reviews) 4. Mission Impossible 3 (life happened) 3. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (saw a review for it) 2. Mission Impossible (saw the first one liked it watched the first loved it) 1. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (i watched it when it was available to rent never heard of mission impossible before that parents liked it, and it looked good)
Another excellent video Sean. These "Journey to" series are probably my favourite part of your channel, because I love hearing your thoughts on different movies.
My rating on mission impossible (1996). The story:5.5/10 The visuals:6.5/10 The action:6.5/10 The characters 6/10 ------------------------------------------------ Overall:6.5/10 A OK movie
I watched this and the second in the theater and never went back for the rest of the franchise. Then I saw all of them on sale two weeks ago and I am fully caught up and looking forward to Fallout.
MI reminds me of the F&F franchise. It seems to be building momentum as it progresses. The Syndicate has a very SPECTRE like feel to it, reminding me of the Bond films. The first film was fun, if not a little slow and dated, the second was meh, it tried to outdo the first, but failed. The third was deeply personal and had real stakes to it, exciting and action packed with a great villain and tension from start to finish. The fourth gave us more of an epic action tale, great film, but it lost the stakes of the third. The 5th one kicked it up a notch and easily the second best of the franchise, with a great villain that I'm happy to see, will return in MI 6.
I think the biggest thing that throws this movie off is that reveal scene, and that we never see a point where Hunt actually reveals anything to Kittridge that would make him trust Hunt to catch Phelps' reveal to him in the baggage car.
Grade: B Score: 7.5/10 (very close to an 8 though) Good: Acting Tom Cruise Characters The heist scene of the NOC List Suspenseful + Exciting + Intriguing Score Train Sequence Story Visuals Entertaining Mixed: Pacing Execution Bad: Too many plot twists and reveals in the last 30 minutes that it’s hard to keep up with and throws you off too much. A bit confusing Convoluted Ending scene after train heist was rushed
Today is Day 1 of my Marathon of every Mission Impossible movies, I just rewatched the first movie so here are my thoughts: I thought it was a great spy thriller, I got invested into the mystery of who was the mole, I liked how it wasn’t just a generic action film, in fact Ethan doesn’t fire a gun at all, and the wire scene is just intense, I also love that most of it is practical, I’ve never seen nor heard of the original show so the twist didn’t bother me, I actually thought it was quite head-spinning because it made me reinterpret everything, and I think it’s great on it’s own merits, I’ll admit I got lost Ethan’s plan, but I still think it’s a great film 7.5 / 10
I loved to watch the Mission Impossible TV series as a kid. Many years back I had seen MI-1 and did not like the plot twist of turning the hero of the TV series into the villain. I was like killing off a character due to contract dispute. So after watching the first Mission Impossible I did not watch anymore of the Mission Impossible series. My wife and I just finished bing watching the 007 movies. We were looking for something to watch together. She suggested the Mission Impossible series. So to keep the wife happy I watched MI-1 again and still did not like or understand why they had to turn Jim Phelps the hero of the TV series into the villain. It still rubs me the wrong way.
Agreed. It's an "action" movie with very little action. They went a different route with the 2nd movie but they basically made it a standard mindless action flick that was ridiculously over the top. I think with MI3, they finally figured out where to take the franchise.
this is actually my favourite of the mission impossible movies. this one feels the most like a n actual spy movie while the later ones just feel like action movies
even though i love this movie i think the plot twist in this movie would've worked if it would've been seen as a reboot and it doesn't make the tv show canon to the story...which i think it might be to a certain extent. i would've thought the twist was cleverly done and actually unpredictable.
I watched rogue nation first then 1 2 3 and ghost protocol. I was let down with the second one because all the others were so good. I really love your videos so please never stop!
I was 8 when the M:I TV show debuted. (Same season as Star Trek's debut.) My Dad and I loved it. Watching today, it is still super-cool, but so, so slow. I hated the movie for the Jim Phelps betrayal. Jim was my guy! And somebody please explain why the most secure building in Washington has ducts big enough to crawl through. Just make the duct the same size, but divided in two! Problem solved.
The first mission impossible movie is not my favourite mission impossible movie I think it a bit boring compared to the another movies in the franchise but it still enjoyable but the vault and the train sequence are amazingly insane scenes
On the part that they turned Jim Phelps bad, many fans from the original TV series couldnt accept that. I was NOT fr that generation, generally MI TV series were more of a rerun during my time. I was HOWEVER in my 20's when This movie came about. Either way, i was ABLE to accept Jim Phelps turning bad BECAUSE they had John Voight playing Phelps. If they had Peter Graves (THE ORIGINAL JIM PHELPS) playing this role, i think the whole world would've revolted on it. So, smart move to out someone hateable playing a bad Jim Phelps.
Very good review as always, i am really looking forward to the 6th movie !! Have you ever thought of doing a kind of best hannibal trilogy video like you did with thor/captain america/avengers/iron man, so the mads mikkelsen trilogy in form of seasons versus the three anthony hopkins movies?
I honestly thought the first MI was a boring snooze fest. The second one was a mindless action flick. 3, 4, and 5 have all been good, though. I'm waiting to see what they do with 6.
so glad you are doing these series btw! idk if you did a ranking video but if you could, could you rank all 5 movies from least to greatest then rank all 6 movies when fallout comes out? or will you do the ranking video after the 6th movie comes out
I find the Mission Impossible movies more rewatchable. So if go with Tom over Matt. I almost said I prefer Tim over Matt and Jeremy and then I remembered Jeremy is in Mission Impossible too!! It’s possible. Without a new one coming out, I don’t know when I would do it.
Sean Chandler Talks About but mission impossible 2 was bad and 3 was way too dark compared to Bourne trilogy. Mission impossible 1 wasn't able to set up challenges as impossible as the later films. So far three Jason Bourne films are great while I'll say that the last two mission impossible films were actually great
I guess in the first couple before it became about the stunts so much, it was all about Tom nearly getting punctured somehow...haha If it wasn't a helicopter blade it was a knife to the eye.
I just watched this movie again last night I forgot how much I loved the plot of this film. Well written, and tho not with as big of stunts like the later movies still highly entertaining and a fun time. Love the whole franchise, even though this movie is epic it is my second to least favorite!
Hey could you do a review for Megamind, I know its been a while since it came out, but I ddo think it is actually a really good movie. Also would like to know if you would find a sequel interesting. Thx love your content !
I’m a new viewer to this movie and I haven’t been watching them for a long time but I have seen all of them. I liked this one also but I also found it a bit confusing
I watched this twice and I still think it’s my least favorite because it’s sort of confusing and I just wasn’t a big fan of the story or how it didn’t have much action.
The movies plot is an absolute mind fuck, I just didn’t know what was happening at all, especially when Jim Phelps faked his death which we saw but Ethan still doesn’t know is happening and blamed it on another guy. Who the fuck is Max and Job, is it the woman, is Kittridge bad, who knows
Sean Chandler Talks About the only continuation is the villain who was protagonist in tv show which pissed off the original mission impossible tv show cast
I love what Chris McQuarrie is doing with the new ones, but I have to say those first two are particularly great because you had two directors with such a strong and distinctive style directing the material. And they stand out a little more because of that
The first is definitely dated and boring and that's why I choose to skip it, that said, it was a decent movie in itself The rest start at the second one for me

I think that the moment where Jim is lying and Ethan realises it and puts all the pieces together in his head is one of the best in the movie
This channel deserves a million subscribers
I like your thinking!
Love this franchise, especially the later additions
Dankest Media Group me too.

Can you rank the eight Quentin Tarantino movies pls, I love your channel and Tarantino is my fav director
This one of my most requested ranking videos. It’s just a matter of getting the movies watched. There’s a chance that will start this week

Captain Beefy that is exactly what I did leading up to Rogue Nation, I just didn't go see any of the others in theaters.
Joshua Muench I'm going to catch Fallout in the theater. I think the franchise is on the right track now.
Captain Beefy yep. That's how I feel about it too.
my ranking
6. MI 2 (6/10)
5. MI (8/10)
4. MI 3 (10/10
3. MI Ghost Protocol (11/10)
2. MI Rouge Nation (11/10
1. MI Fallout (12/10)

Had to come back to these classic reviews to prep for Dead Reckoning part 1 🙂
I've never seen ANY of these movies but I SOOOO want to!!
Man the drums in the original intro
Great review one of my favourite
You should do more of these where we watch a movie and then the video
I’ve been dropping videos like this on mondays al year. I did the MCU. Then Jurassic Park. Now mission impossible
Grade: B
Score: 7.5/10 (very close to an 8 though)
Good:
Acting
Tom Cruise
Characters
The heist scene of the NOC List
Suspenseful + Exciting + Intriguing
Score
Train Sequence

Visuals
Entertaining
Mixed:

Bad:
Too many plot twists and reveals in the last 30 minutes that it’s hard to keep up with and throws you off too much.

With the villain thing like if they make Kirk the villain....good way of putting it;)

7.5 / 10
This film has the best tone out of all of them in my opinion.
17:33 that was me
That’s awesome! I’m having a positive influence!!!
xD i have been subbed for a year. keep up the great content
Thanks so much. I appreciate it

Not a big fan of this movie as the pacing is just too slow for me to enjoy.
Yeah it’s definitely an slower pace by modern standards or compared to the franchise In general
Agreed. It's an "action" movie with very little action. They went a different route with the 2nd movie but they basically made it a standard mindless action flick that was ridiculously over the top. I think with MI3, they finally figured out where to take the franchise.

Florrie Morrie I agree I think it’s miles above the others and I don’t think the story is that confusing like people say it is.
@@manuellacke, I wouldn’t say it’s confusing at all until the last 30 minutes where the movie throws in too many twists
Sean, can you do a top 10 of the best Stephen King Movies ? ☺ please
Review every James Bond movie before James Bond 25
even though i love this movie i think the plot twist in this movie would've worked if it would've been seen as a reboot and it doesn't make the tv show canon to the story...which i think it might be to a certain extent. i would've thought the twist was cleverly done and actually unpredictable.
I haven't seen any of these movies. Anyway, love ur vids! Keep up the good work!!
I watched rogue nation first then 1 2 3 and ghost protocol. I was let down with the second one because all the others were so good. I really love your videos so please never stop!
One thing I don't understand though is why Jim choosed to shoot the girl at the end in the train sequence
I haven't seen a single episode of the old show. I never even knew that Phelps was the main character...I can see why that might upset the fans.
I really like your set.
Really nice vid! I didn’t have time to rewatch this movie, but this is a nice review. I have a recommendation: Can you rank all the Pixar Villians?
Can u do all MCU villains ranked with thanos?
After Ant-Man 2
The film has a bit of a confusing plot, but it’s still an entertaining and fun spy thriller.
Will you rank all 6 of them once fallout is released?
Yes
The first mission impossible movie is not my favourite mission impossible movie I think it a bit boring compared to the another movies in the franchise but it still enjoyable but the vault and the train sequence are amazingly insane scenes

She loves her Tom cruise and Nicolas Cage
I honestly thought the first MI was a boring snooze fest. The second one was a mindless action flick. 3, 4, and 5 have all been good, though. I'm waiting to see what they do with 6.
Sean Chandler Talks About I love all of the missions.
I am watching and reviewing the series as well. I really enjoyed the first one. It's one of my favourites.
Reminds me of John Conor being the villain in Genysis. ...that killed the movie for me
Yep. Similar sort of betrayal of character. Which they mostly got away with it since the movie appealed to a new audience.
so glad you are doing these series btw! idk if you did a ranking video but if you could, could you rank all 5 movies from least to greatest then rank all 6 movies when fallout comes out? or will you do the ranking video after the 6th movie comes out
You want me to rank them now and then again in a month? Haha
I ranked all 5 last summer.
And I plan to rank them when fallout comes out!
ok sounds good, you the best!
Which do you prefer, Mission Impossible or the Bourne Trilogy? Also, can you review the Bourne Trilogy?
I find the Mission Impossible movies more rewatchable. So if go with Tom over Matt. I almost said I prefer Tim over Matt and Jeremy and then I remembered Jeremy is in Mission Impossible too!!

Alright I am going to watch this tonight. I hope its at least good as you said
If you’re young, it’s slow. Not bad. But slow.
HOW DARE YOU HAVE A FINGER GUN IN THE THUMBNAIL!!!!
DEMONETIZED!!!
Great vid btw Sean 😀
I just watched this movie again last night I forgot how much I loved the plot of this film. Well written, and tho not with as big of stunts like the later movies still highly entertaining and a fun time. Love the whole franchise, even though this movie is epic it is my second to least favorite!
best of the five for me. great video
It's not my favourite , but it's a nice movie with good twists
Holy shit your an delivery man? What company do you work for?
Sherwin Williams
Sean Chandler Talks About how much do you get paid?
Don’t really want to talk about particulars. But not nearly enough to support a family by itself.
But it has good insurance.
So excited for Fallout!!
The first is my favorite of the series...easily
Hey could you do a review for Megamind, I know its been a while since it came out, but I ddo think it is actually a really good movie. Also would like to know if you would find a sequel interesting.
Thx love your content !
I’m a new viewer to this movie and I haven’t been watching them for a long time but I have seen all of them. I liked this one also but I also found it a bit confusing
I watched this movie for the first time a few days ago, so perfect timing, I already watched 4 & 5 a while ago, though
Great start to the series
I have seen the first 4 movies, I didn't really like the first 3 but I really liked the 4th one
Maybe this will help me remember which ones I’ve seen and which I haven’t lol
I don’t know if you answered this in your video (because I’m watching only at the beginning.) but are you excited for the new movie?
Yes
i saw fallout but never seen the others. i watched this one and i was more confused than when i watched interstellar or inception.
Can you do a video where you rank the MCU phases
For me, the first one is the best.
not a single dislike. let’s keep it that way
I like your thinking.
Hey sean love from India
My rating to this movie would be 7.5/10
nice profile pic
Bugsy the Meme Master thanks!
My rank : 1>5>3>4>2
yay I hope it doesn't fallout in the box office
number 5 is my favourite, 2 is my least favourite but I love these franchise
I watched this twice and I still think it’s my least favorite because it’s sort of confusing and I just wasn’t a big fan of the story or how it didn’t have much action.

Are the movies a continuation of the tv series?
No
Sean Chandler Talks About the only continuation is the villain who was protagonist in tv show which pissed off the original mission impossible tv show cast
You almost at 50 sub bro :D
Getting closr
I’m seeing them next month

sal Bryant that is true, but the first one is still better than the second
But the first has great sequences!
