If you have Mazda 3, there is a valve that gets stuck WITHOUT an error code. The brakes will feel mushy. You need to get on an unpaved road and brake hard activating ABS 5-10 times. This will unblock the valve. No diagnostics or replacement needed. You are welcome.
Same issue with my 2012 Subaru Legacy, and at the same time, my sons Subaru 2016 Forester! Very dangerous when you suddenly can't brake! The brake experts replaced calipers , pressure flush, at lots of expense! Problem may repeat. A serious safety issue!
I've heard the issue comes back after some time though. What has been your experience with this? Also does it cause leaking from ABS module? Mine appears to have some leaking...
@@AudreysKitchen Yes, it has come back. I did the same reset and it's been fine, except that I did not need ABS since this winter. In the end, you have to replace the valve at some point.
@@Ecutestinglimited halfords said my abs pump was not running but i have no abs light or fault on diagnostic would it still be pump with no errors please ?
@@jacko-gk2st Hi. This can occur, however it is unlikely that the pump would be malfunctioning without producing any fault codes or warning lights. Did the garage attempt to run a pump motor output test using diagnostics? Also could you let us know the make and model of vehicle you are experiencing this problem on? Thanks
Can hear this guy doesn't just talk he knows what he is doing. And is correct with voltage drop. From my experience and as a electronic technician old school one taught me also. A voltage drop can also be to a short circuit that has some resistance. So it can cause problems like on cars your battery life gets shortened. And you basically get 2 types of short circuit one with 0 resistanc which causes fuse to blow usually. And the one with resistance so the fuse doesnt blow yet you get battery drainage issues. And i have seen it in the past. Few months ago i worked on a Toyota hilux which had extra battery in for camping lights and so on. The owner asked me if i could test if there wqs 12volt at the connectors at back of rhe vehicle. I tested the ground 1st and its fine. 12v side dead. So went to engine compartment test that battery 0volt! He is like what?! 0 volt?! That cant be. I also tested a 100 amp fuse which is also fine. So he went in to make some coffee and now my brain is thinking and im like yeah 0volt is extremely flat. So i removed the positive terminal on that battery tested again and i got like 2 volt literally 😂. The moment i touched the positive terminal on battery volts drop immediately so theres a short circuit somewhere in that harnass. The client also said the people that fitted his reverse camera suspect that they might have damaged some wires. So yeah just to be extra safe i insulated the positive terminal. So in mean time the client can take vehicle to the workshop that fits the camping accessories and so.
I'm in the thick of things right now with my 06 GMC HD2500. I 'm using an old Snap On brick so did a bleed test & know ABS motor works, but pedal blowby felt where it should push back against foot during this test. I have done a road test & speed registers at all frt & r. WHEELS . If I delete abs light & drive off,ABS light stays off during complete drive cycle. Only when I shut truck off turn back on ABS light glows but yet no codes are being registered!! truck brakes fine otherwise. everything on truck is new from last year and nothing is worn & no seized "calipers" including a new master & hydro boost. Will check wiring for bad ground or ?? Coincidence after replacing a bad RF hub bearing yet, speed sensor registers ok! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!! you gave me a couple more tips to check out !! THERE IS A REASON AND I HATE UNWANTED DASH LIGHTS !!🤣
I hear you! I have a '97 Riviera with a Teves/ATC ABS/TC system that fails the pump-motor voltage test at 12mph after a hot soak. I've replaced the fuse & relay, cleaned the contacts with electronic cleaner, and even replaced the EBTCM with a wrecking yard unit. The pump always works when I need it, but the 'judge' in the module insists on deactivating the system & lighting the dash lights because it doesn't like the feedback voltages from the motor... Arghhh!
Thanks for the comment, and you are correct Tyrone! Part 2 of this ABS fault series is going to cover wheel speed sensor faults, so watch this space over the next few weeks! Edit: Here is it! - ua-cam.com/video/T74B_aELnU0/v-deo.html
I hope to discover how to repair 2016 VW flashing abs and traction control. (after replacing a bad fl wheel sensor) I also had/have no cruise control when the five warning lights were on. Now it's just ABS and TRACTION flashing in unison, and I gotta get my cruise working before I get a speeding ticket.
my 2015 c-max hybrid will not release the brakes when in the hot sun, then sometimes flags the abs light. If I feather the accelerator, it eventually releases. Also, if I switch from reverse to drive, it will release also. The compressor sounds weak and slow. It's like it's gotten weaker over time. Braking during operation is not a problem. In fact, sometimes it's too strong, especially under 10 MPH. The dealership quoted $2,500 to replace the whole ABS module. Looking at the troubleshooting report, they're basing it mostly off the code and test values. No mention of the sensors being tested.
Hi. Please send the following details to our technical support team via email at info@ecutesting.com. Your vehicles make, model and year of manufacture, the part number of the ABS unit if possible, the results from the troubleshooting report including any fault codes present, and the symptoms of the fault as you have described above. Wish all auto vids were clear and precise as yours. I just bought a 04 Pontiac Bonneville in wonderful condition except the abs pump had a leak from underneath the black cylinder. It was where the elec harness is mounted. Took off the module and used a whole can of brake cleaner inside /out then used permatex on the harness gasket and reattached it. Prior owner was using E brake to drive it. Do you figure the pump is burned up cause he left all harnesses connected and no fluid in the system? The brake system is bone dry I'm sure. Don't want to waste time putting module back on , replace fluid and bleed for nothing. Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Is it possible that the ABS module could be damaged after having changed the brake fluid in the traditional way? The traditional way of applying the brake, loosening the bleed valve, etc. When changing brake calipers, the brake pedal sinks. We have changed everything, bled the system and it is still the same.

Hello, I have a 2001 porsche 996 C4 with PSM. I have several symptoms right now: 1) the pedal sometimes becomes very hard or 2) sudden braking without any pressue being applied to the brake pedal. When either of these happen, ABS light comes on on the dashboard. Code 4460. I switched out the brake pedal switch which did nothing. I had the ABS electronic module verified and was told it was fine (no open circuit) and the problem is the hydraulic unit. When brakes come on unexpectedly, the only way to relieve pressure is to disconnect one or more brake lines from the ABS unit and then reconnect. Does this confirm that the problem is the hydraulic unit itself? Thanks for our help.
Its very rare this issue occurs on japanese cars such as honda & toyota, its common on german cars which they earn alot of profit from selling this part again to the consumers

Hi. Have you got any fault codes present when scanning the vehicle? If you haven't then we would recommend checking all the basics, e.g. bleed the breaks to remove any air in the system, check the brake fluid level and quality, check for worn brake pads or rotors, and check for any damaged brake lines. If they all look good, or if you did have ABS related fault codes present when scanning the vehicle, the ABS unit may be faulty. Follow this link: www.ecutesting.com/product-catalogue/chevrolet/tahoe/abs-pump-ecumodule-combined/ and select the part number which matches the one printed on your ABS to get it tested and re-built!
Hi. Please email our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com with the details of your fault and any screenshots or pictures of any diagnostic scans you have tried to carry out, and they will assist you further. Cheers.
Hi. Hi guys. I was looking for some similar situations with my car and I think you might help me a bit here. My BMW 2019 G20 320d has been just serviced for the 3 yearly compulsory brake fluid change. When pick up my car I had the lamp blinking for traction control as soon as I’ve left the dealer workshop. I could not go uphill due to power loss in the first 500m until the lights stopped blinking and power came back. When driving the car braking in city at small speed everything seemed OK but at higher speed I felt that I couldn’t stop the car and I was definitely applying more pressure on the pedal then before. I was so disappointed since my brakes were the upgraded M Power type and they used to be so so good until then. The dealer told me that the process is automatically done by a so called robot and there were no mistakes, then agreed to change the fluid once again. Same situation after second fluid replacement, traction control blinking lights, no power and all normal after few minutes. Somehow the braking improved a bit but it is not what I can recall from before changing the fluid first time. I feel very disappointed, I will not return to this dealer again , the car is almost new 22K km (13K miles) and I don’t know what to do from here. Someone suggested me to vent the ABS valve block by actuating the valves with a computer or so?! The dealer says the car is fine but braking from high speed is not what it used to be … I do have still another 2 years of warranty from BMW and I like the car, but how do you suggest to solve this issue please? Looking forward to your reply. Cheers. Bogdan
Hi Bogdan. It sounds like a complex issue, and it could be caused by a number of things. If you can read any fault codes then we should be able to advise you of a fix. Please email our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com with the description of your fault (as you have done above) and any fault codes you are able to read, and we will be happy to help you out. @@Ecutestinglimited thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I have just left home, job related. Luckily nobody else is driving that car. I think I need a third party to put the car on diagnosis tester…
@@aquamaster111 Hi. We would recommend taking the car to an independent garage for a diagnostic and ask if they can scan the car for any fault codes, especially relating to the ABS or braking system. Thanks

My Subaru Legacy and my son's Forester..... suddenly brake goes to the floor to stop the vehicle. At high speed car pulls slightly to one side! No ABS warning light! A very dangerous issue that Subaru doesn't want to hear about! Solution that worked for both of us.....stomp on the brake repeatedly on a gravel or slippery road so as to engage the ABS system. Immediate resolution of the problem! Cause? Perhaps a stuck valve in the ABS from lack of regular use? Same issue as Mazda 3 comment below!
How many hard brakings did it take you to fix? I have the soft pedal with no codes in Mazda3. But also appears to be brake fluid leaking around the ABS module so I'm not sure if this is the problem. I've done the hard brake thing a few times now and hasn't fixed it yet.
Hello, I need help, I have a brake workshop, they brought us an iveco daily 35s15 2019 ambulance, when you step on the pedal it goes very low, it does not show an abs failure in the ecu, the pump has no problem, neither do the wheels, everything indicates that the fault is in the abs, it has already happened to us with several vehicles, it is as if the brake fluid left somewhere inside the abs module, has it happened to you?
Hi. It sounds like it is a hydraulic issue as these generally don't log fault codes or illuminate warning lights. We would recommend testing the hydraulics of the brake system. Cheers.
Shit I have a Toyota Highlander and I changed out the Calipers and pads. I bled the brakes and they are still going to the floor. Now had I never bled and replaced all of this before on other makes and models, I'd say I didn't know what I was doing. But I do. I have even ran a clear hose from each bleeder valve and pushed a quart of fluid through each line. Pedal still goes to the floor. Now since I don't know anything about the ABS systems, here I am. Now before I changed anything on this vehicle, that my son bought. When coming to a stop the break pedal would push back a little and make some noise. Thos is the only thing I know about ABS and that is what this issue is. Now when I went to change the brakes, my son said they had locked up amd the vehicle couldn't move. The inside brake pad was wore down to metal on metal and fell in between the bracket and rotator. This makes all sense. This is why I'm wondering now if the ABS pump has gone out or if it is a relay that has gotten old. This is a 2001 vehicle so anything is possible. If anyone has any information that could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi. There could be a number of other factors causing the ABS and TC to be faulty. We would recommend scanning the vehicle for any fault codes to help diagnose the problem. If you could send the details of this scan, your vehicle make and model, and any further symptoms to info@ecutesting.com, then our technical support team would be happy to assist you further. Thanks.
Hi. If you are experiencing no communications with your ABS then we would recommend following the steps in this video for how to check the ground and ignition feeds to ABS. If these check out ok, then test the continuity of the communication lines. If these check out ok, then could be fault with the ABS module itself. If this is the case then please visit www.ecutesting.com to find out how to send your unit into us for a comprehensive test and re-build. Cheers.
Hi, i have a 2009 Scirocco 2.0tsi. ABS & Traction lights came on randomly along with a flashing handbrake light. Same here what's happing with your Toyota is happening with my 97 Nissan Pathfinder LE. The ABS light comes on and when I turn the ignition of it keeps vibrating. I checked the fluid to make sure that it's was still full and it was. I also checked the fuses all the tiny fuses are good the 40 amp fuse time I unplugged that it turned off so I looked at the fuse we had corrosion on it. So I was thinking about ordering me some more 40 fuses but I started thinking that could be peace of the problem but not the problem solver. I put the fuse back in and it started back vibrating again from there I started to think what is ABS anti braking system so I went out on a dirt road going 5 mph hit the brake then backed up hit the brake pull forward hit the emergency brake after I did all of that it stopped I turned the key off turn it back on no ABS light and no vibrating. Do you know the cause of that? Do you think I should change my braking fluid because I had it now for 2 years never changed it. Before me it was belonging to an elderly gentleman that passed away and it sat for about 3 years so no break fluid changing has happened.
Is it common issue the ABS pump to fail on Honda Civic MK8, 2006 with R16A Engine 1.8L? My Break pedal travels slowly down when pressed, travels excessively on the first try to stop, and its stopping but slowly. The second step on the pedal then it grips and stops great. Would that be a faulty ABS pump fault or something else? Thanks. Its great to see that it can be repairable as the original unit is about 500-600 Euros from Honda. can you help me with this one 2000 mk4 golf 1.8t basically i swapped me3.8 to me7.5 and now got this code 01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64): Signal Outside Specifications ive checked fuses but dont know what pins have power on the abs one person suggested that the early golfs used a different abs module to the later ones and this could be the problem
Hi. If you could email our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com with your vehicle's make and model, the part numbers of the new ABS and old ABS, and the details of your problem as you have described above, then they will be happy to advise you if it is a compatibility issue or not. Thanks
Hi. The low voltage code means the ABS pump is not receiving the correct voltage in order to function. We would recommend checking the wiring to the ABS unit and the connector for any signs of damage. It is also worth checking the relevant fuses as detailed in this video. It could be that the ABS pump itself is faulty, so if everything else checks out ok, then please contact our technical support team via email at info@ecutesting.com, and they will assist you further and recommend any re-build solutions we can offer. Thanks.
@@Ecutestinglimited hi there thanks for the response it keeps blowing the 30A green fuse for ABS system so I’m guessing the ABS pump is fried or the connection has water inside or corrosion
@@dexietyy7922 Hi. If the fuse keeps blowing then the problem could either be with the ABS itself or the wiring to the ABS. To differentiate which it is, disconnect the ABS unit and test for continuity between the ground and 12 volts signal on the wiring loom. If it reads open circuit, the ABS is faulty, but if it isn't open circuit then there is a short somewhere in the wiring loom. Hope this helps!
Hi. The Code 00597 indicates something wrong with the signal from one of the wheel speed sensors to the ABS. If you check out this video we have put together on wheel speed sensors: ua-cam.com/video/T74B_aELnU0/v-deo.html and follow the diagnostic tips, it should help you out! Any other questions contact our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com. Cheers
@Tedankouil Hi. We would recommend checking the wheel speed sensor for any damage, checking the speed sensor reluctor ring for damage or corrosion and finally checking for excessive play in the wheel bearings. All of these can cause the 00597 fault code. If all of these check out ok, then check VSS live data in the instrument cluster to make sure it is receiving the speed sensor logic. Hope this helps!
@@Ecutestinglimited he did live data and he told me that everything works perfect but still not speedometer working I’m losing signal every time I move the car for 40 seconds. The speedo is going to zero
Hi. Sorry to hear that, the only possible solution we could offer is a full test of the ABS module and/or the instrument cluster to rule out both modules for faults. However it could still be something external causing the fault.
Could you please tell me if a scan tool is necessary to bleed the brakes on a 2005 K74 Mitsubishi with ABS brakes to remove the air from the ABS module ?
Hi. You should be able to bleed the brakes and remove air from the ABS without the use of a scan tool, if you have someone assist you in pumping the brake whilst bleeding the system. Cheers
ABS SUCKS !!! Been driving for nearly 50 years. Cars before ABS rarely has any brake issues. Now these fucking ABS systems have caused more down time making me lose more money than these units worth.
This what all automotive videos should be like to the point and informative very well done

Arghhh!

I hope to discover how to repair 2016 VW flashing abs and traction control. (after replacing a bad fl wheel sensor) I also had/have no cruise control when the five warning lights were on. my 2015 c-max hybrid will not release the brakes when in the hot sun, then sometimes flags the abs light.

Cheers.
@@Ecutestinglimited thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I have just left home, job related. Luckily nobody else is driving that car. Now, how should I proceed in your opinion as my dealer says that car is absolutely fine? Where can I read if I have any alarm codes since there is nothing coming in the dash?! I think I need a third party to put the car on diagnosis tester…
@@aquamaster111 Hi. We would recommend taking the car to an independent garage for a diagnostic and ask if they can scan the car for any fault codes, especially relating to the ABS or braking system. Thanks

Hi. I have an BMW E87 with error 5E20 . Can help me ?
Hi. In our experience, the code 5E20 typically indicates that the ABS unit is faulty. Please email our technical support team via info@ecutesting.com with the following information if you would like to send your unit in for a potential test and re-build. The make and model of your vehicle, any symptoms of the fault (including fault codes), and the part number printed on your unit. They will be happy to advise you further.
@@AudreysKitchen .. you need to trigger the ABS on an icy or loose gravel road.
Thanks.
See above comments about ABS.....
What do I do if the abs and TC warning light don't turn in ever? Abs and TC also don't work and all fuses are good
Thanks.

what if vcds doesn't connect to the abs module?
Took it to a garage that reset the error codes and the issue went away for about 15 miles; now it is back. Brakes feel fine, no issue with the way it drives either. Code is 16352 - Control Module - Defective.
Is this something your rebuild service can sort out? Your rebuild cost is really reasonable considering i have been quoted for a new module @ £1,200 plus 5hrs labour...
Hi. The 16352 code is a very common sign of a faulty ABS module, and we do offer a re-build service for your vehicle. If you fill in our online test form at ecutesting.com with the following details; Vehicle make and model, ABS part number, details of the fault as you have described above and any fault codes, then our technical support team will advise you further. My toyota corolla 2008... when i switch off my ignition the abs keeps vibrating until I disconnect the socket from it please what can I do?
Hi. It sounds like you have an internal failure with the ABS pump motor. If you fill in our online test form with your vehicle make and model, the ABS part number and a description of the fault, then we will help you out. Cheers
I have no lights lid up on the dash.
Hi. These ABS pumps do fail, however the issue you're describing could be a master cylinder fault also. Have you had the vehicle checked over and scanned for fault codes?
@@Ecutestinglimited no not yet. The car has only 80k miles.
@@senanfoutchedjev2401 Ok. We would recommend getting it checked by a qualified mechanic and get them to scan the vehicle for any fault codes as these could help determine the root cause of the fault.

I have a MK6.5 Ford Fiesta with the abs light on I’ve plugged it in and it says “ low voltage to ABS pump “ what does this even mean haha
Hi my Audi A5 2009 shows on vcds fault error 00597 any idea what is that?

@@Ecutestinglimited I diagnose the car on live data and the sensors was speeding the same.. but the speedometer still is shows zero on the clock..
Where do I send it too
