In 1988 a kid up the road from me got a brand new 88 Honda 250r .. the first day he had it we rode all day (I had a KX80 87) long story he absolutely recked the piss out of that thing all day .. he rolled it down a hill and it landed in the river upside down . In a month it was trashed and he sold it for 1000 bucks. I was 11 and he was 13 😂
Memories right there.i had the racer and tecate 4 back in the day.wish I kept them.but the memories I'll always have.great machines.awesome collection in general.
Great stuff. I have a 100% oem unrestored 89 in excellent condition and I fricken love it. Mines got the right wheels & seat cover even. Which is quite rare to find em with the og seat cover, not destroyed!
I had the same year and problem with my Tecate 4 until I changed the pipe, then it screamed. It really preformed best in tight trails, I think it is the shortest bike of the 3, but probably the slowest. Really cool seeing these blasts from the past!
That Maple Dude just did this exact same race, I'm curious to see if the Kawi does better in your video? I thought it was the fastest 250 back in the day?
I have an 88 T4 too. To check if the power valves are working, keep the cap off (which you removed) and rev the engine. You should see it pull out all the way. It won't move much with the engine off because it's connected to the governor. The valves have been know to break on the T4, but I don't think it's all that common. I bet it's a jetting issue. I also have an 89 250R and an 89 LT250--and other 80s classics. I'd say the 87-92 Quadracer is an underrated machine, specifically the engine. It doesn't have the handling or suspension of the 250R (which I would rank as best overall) but that power valve engine rips, especially with just a few mods, e.g., pipe, carb, reeds.
I had exact Tecate and for a complete stock bike it was Fast !!! Would eat the Hondas and Suzuki on the Oregon dunes all day it just was not as comfortable to ride as the Honda or Suzuki way to top heavy.
I want to run VP in my banshee what oil mix u run with VP also What mix ratio u run in the banshee I think you said 40:1 in this video is that the same n banshee??
@ 100ml of oil and 1gal fuel is EASY to REMEMBER and splits 32:1 vs 40:1. All my machines 2-stroke are dyno tuned to this mixture EXCEPT the 2 draggers (421/521) as they are METHANOL ENGINES and they are 32:1
Probably one of the cleanest collections on earth! We can’t just ignore that kfx700 chilling over there. Never see those things in that good of shape!

Bro,those bikes are beautiful.ive been looking for a nice 250r for a good while now.congrats on those 3
Thanks 👍
Great stuff, keep it coming. You're bringing us all back to our good ol days.
You are a blessed man for being able to ride those beautiful quads! Great video

Thanks for sharing this content. Truly unbelievable to see all of this in one place

Definitely the worst handling and the tallest
The Tecate isn't gonna have the ergos of the Honda but stock for stock if they're running right it should be a little quicker in a straight line race.
No Heelguards on the Tecate is freaky! Got some slick looking Units, buddy! 🔥
A friend had a Tecate 4, quick little ride. Hopefully you get yours up to par soon
Thanks for sharing some of the backstory on these as well as the test, cool quads and nice collection.

Left us on a cliff hanger. Lol.
Love your channel and keep up the content come to the eastern shore of Maryland Cambridge and we can ride
Maybe one day!
Yeah man they are killer, the Honda though, always like the 250R weather on a bike, 3 wheeler, or quad lol...pretty awesome man ..
Great video.
Nice comparison! The 250R is a ripper!
I’ve been fortunate enough to own a TRX 250R and a Quadracer. I would pick the Honda any day.
To add, u need to give the Suzuki another chance because it wasn’t warmed up. Yes the Honda was ON POINT
Check flywheel key on the tecate they can shear or twist slightly and they will run similar to how yours is.
From what it looks like the tecate has a cheap pwk carb on it, I don’t think they came with those but I think your issue is in the carb
First time watch definitely cool content matter
🔥
I had a white 88 and green 87 Tecate 4, parts and plasics were hard to find in 98.
Three Very Nice Machines!
The tires on the Honda 250R Look a bit Like the Tires on My 2014 honda 400X.
Just Wondering What they are?
Lfgg baby!
Brave man starting that honda without boots. Good rings small gaskets and one slip...ooof..
Tecate on video sounds louder than all 😂😂
250r ftw! By far one of your most eye catching machines…. What’s up with that Kfx 700 getting the front row spot 😳
Had to move it to get the Tecate out 😂
T4 runs good @ 32:1 and stock expansion with fmf slip on make great power, mine tops out @ 95mph and will eat a can am 1000 for breakfast!!!
But why do you put them on reserve instead of "on"?
@@fasehuh11 I only put about a gallon in each so I don’t waste a bunch of fuel.
I got a 2003 blaster with a 28mil fmf pipe not the front one
I had exact Tecate and for a complete stock bike it was Fast !!! Would eat the Hondas and Suzuki on the Oregon dunes all day it just was not as comfortable to ride as the Honda or Suzuki way to top heavy.
All the carbs need tuned. I'm excited to see a part 2...
I have 91 lt250r no way as nice but the choke on mine is way different.. and it's oem Mikuni carb
That tecate need jetting or what?
Where can you buy these?
Marketplace

Probably just needs a fresh plug.
I think the Kawasaki is the slowest anyway nice video
If it’s stock and calling or 20:1 and u put 40:1 it’s gunna b PIG RICH. 20:1 is less gas more oil and 40:1 is more fuel less oil
I only run 32 to 1 and it’s perfect in all machines.
@ 100ml of oil and 1gal fuel is EASY to REMEMBER and splits 32:1 vs 40:1. All my machines 2-stroke are dyno tuned to this mixture EXCEPT the 2 draggers (421/521) as they are METHANOL ENGINES and they are 32:1
What is a good fuel to use in a blaster
They’ll run on anything but non ethanol is best
89 TRX 250r has an aftermarket seat cover on it
Cosmic Quads
You are a blessed man for being able to ride those beautiful quads! Great video
