- I buy a Honda TRX250R, a Suzuki Quadracer lt250, and a Kawasaki Tecate 4 250cc quad and race them all. These were the three fastest two stroke 250cc quads ever made. #Kawasaki, #Suzuki, #Honda,

Kawasaki
What year is that 250r?
Also definitely I’d take the Honda
Tectate
Lt but you should go through your garage again on video
you're learning what we knew back in the 80/ 90's when these things were new. This is why we always bought honda's.
My 88 TRX250R is a beast and has beat Raptors
The trx 250rs one so many podiums
@@JeffreyNadolny I had 1 of them tri z 250. Wild machine. But my brother has 1 of them kawasaki H2s 750 triple 2 stroke. Kawi made a 250 triple 350 400 500 and the 750. Made in the 70s
Get a Mojave
@@Ethan_LeBlanc you should just walk
I have a 1988 lt250r and I'm sending the motor out to go get bored ported and Polished but you guys need to give it the beans those motors have a lot more then what you're pushing it too
I grew up with a older brother and we both had Suzuki 250r’s. He “upgraded” to a yfz450 the first year it was out. I still have mine. It’s been 19 years. It looks and runs amazing still. Cool video looks fun.
As an owner of an LT250R, I accept it being the “slowest” 2-stroke quad in this competition. I still have a blast riding it. All 3 running at the same time was freaking awesome! You’ve come a long way Joe! Happy for ya buddy 🤙
Keep that Suzuki Quadracer its an awesome machine! Restore it bit by bit. Do not sell unless to me! Lol Enjoy. #Suzuki
That was a first gen lt250r, the second gen is much much faster
Yeah the second gen would likely be the fastest there
@@Hc-rt6pe as an LT250R owner I’d have to say there are too many factors that would play a role in that statement. Rider being the biggest variable to accurately say what would be the “fastest”.. in the late 80’s when sport quad mx was an actual craze, honda 250 crushed suzuki 250…. That being said, I still love my quad and will NEVER get rid of it 🤙
@@fromex2lsturbo the Honda does handle better but the suzuki was slightly faster in a straight line it was mostly about brand recognition though and Honda was well known for a good bike so most people just stuck with them
Great to see these old machines ripping! Didnt see too many Tecates back in the day, super cool to see when still ripping now! 👍👍
What a Beautiful Sound with all 3 Quads running at the same time.
Just the fact that you have all three is insane good for you man
I have all 3 too, an 88 250R, 88 T4, and 89 LT 250R. The Honda is the best handling by far, also the best suspension. It looks like you have 85 or 86 LT. But in 87 Suzuki switch to a power valve engine, which is wicked fast. I would say it has the best stock engine. The T4 is also very fast, but doesn't have that "on the pipe" hit of the LT. The LT and T4 suffer in the chassis department. They have a single spar motorcycle-type frame, whereas Honda had the dual spar truss frame. That allowed for a lower center of gravity. The rear suspension on the LT makes it tall and tippy, and the front geometry and suspension on the T4 is lacking. Having said that, they're all fun machines.
Agreed, I have a 91’ LT with the better setup rear suspension +2 front & rear, it handles like it’s on rails
Didn’t Kawi have KIPS like the dirt bikes? They use to rip
@@philipmazzuca2269 Yep, Kawi has KIPS on the 86/87 T3s and the T4s. But you don't feel it open like the power valve on the LT--it's almost like a shot of nitrous.
The question I think everyone missed is, what's the gear ratio difference between all of them, and front and rear sprocket sizes. The year when each one was built, due to power changes in motor design etc. All this will make a big difference ! Great video nonetheless !!
I know the lt250r is an 85 or 86 so definitely not the fastest version of that bike
My 87 lt250r keeps up with my buddys 87 trx on every senario both stock except for exhaust we both have fmf exhausts. Year definitely matters
And the Banshee 500 sorted out I gotta give props you have a perfect collection
There is no banshee 500
It’s a two stroke, never lift off the throttle when going through the gears in a race. It’ll only rpm so much. Also if you like the Honda, you need to go up 1 or 2 jet sizes on the pilot jet. It will probably end up burning a piston if you don’t. Look for vacuum leaks around the intake first. The idle creeping is a dead giveaway, it’s lean. It should ping for a second, then settle down. Like the Kawasaki.
Yes sir I agree 💯. I also like the Yamaha 250 blaster it was a fun little quad to ride maybe not as fast but fun to ride and add to the collection. I ride a Raptor 700se and love it better than any ATV I've been on but I love them 2 stroke's they are some mean machine's.
@@randynichols3056 Blaster is a 200. Also It's a cheap kids toy.
@@geopioneergsxr5357 blaster has to small of a wheelbase for any kind of serious rider unless you want to sink a bunch of money into it. It's a starter quad for a 12 year old.
@@bdog4u2 Literally what I just said..
My favorite quad of all time for bashing around was a Kawasaki Mojave
I had a 92 LTR and I had stock bore and stroke, but everything else was modified. Ella suspension , lone star everything and Duncan racing head and pyramid reed valve with a flat slide 38mm carburetor, Paul turner silencer. Geared for the track it was nasty till about 60 and it topped out but I burnt almost everything I came across on smaller tracks.
3 of the fastest quads ever made great video definitely a Honda 250r fan myself
Great machines bud. Love it.
If you don’t mind, I do have a suggestion though, after listening to the bikes run through the range. It’s very possibly due to the weather, but both the Honda and Kawasaki are running lean.
The Honda was very lean, and given what I heard, I would raise the needle by one, or fatten the main by 5 points. That’s why you had it sounding like a limiter. It would actually be faster with the jetting right.
The Kawasaki was not as bad, and simply raising the needle one may help.
The problem with raising the needle to solve a main jet that you may not have on hand, is that based on the needle taper, it can drastically change the entire 1/8-full range.
It’s best to test the needle and the main separately, as you may prefer one over the other.
You don’t want any fuel cutting when into it.
Good luck!
I feel like there's so much demand building for some new sport quads. Could you imagine a new 2022 250r or Tecate 4, they wouldn't be able to build them fast enough
Oh yeah it would be fucking amazing but sadly i doubt honda ever makes a sport quad bigger the the 250ex but one can only hope #savethesportquads
@@dinaatkins4130 #savesportquads
One of these companies need to do a special run and bring back old school 2 strokes. They would sell like crazy.
I raced a Honda just like yours on my Fully built Jason Lawrence replica bike and i dusted it!
2 Wheels for life!....But that Kawi is SWEET!!!
I like my 4 strokes but when the bikes were sitting side by side idling that was gangster
I would only take the kawasaki it's the only quad that's tuned sorta right
That tecate has that straight put put sound while the other two have more popping with the exhaust.
Damn your name wasent kidding
Love it.
I've owned the LT and the Tecate.
I've had 3 CR's and 1 CRF, and an 84 atc 250r. I've owned several Hondas, but never with 4 wheels.
Them trx 250r have the best pipes you have some sweet rides man..
My first quad, Kawasaki 250 Mojave nice machine..sh*t pretty quick, I still have til this day
Man joe you have to get your bother to wear his helmet one crash is all it takes great vid I knew the Honda would win 🤟🤪
That is a lineup you might want to hold on to forever buddy. Not many people have all three in that good of condition and gotta say. Its rare to see. So id hold on to them.
Thanks for all the 2stroke content. 😁😁
That is an older Quadracer. The one you want to find has the blue engine with the power reed also 6 speed. Super fast. I had the 1988 model. I also had the 1985 model, the 88 was twice the machine. Had it for 15 years. Nice video brought back some
Memories. Thanks.
He don't know. A lot of these people in the comments don't either. Ltr and tecate had power valve in later years which was faster in straight line. The Honda will always handle better, but they were faster. Only 2 atvs had power valve from the factory.
87-92. The 85-86 were the dogs. I still have my 87.
My Buddy had the Honda 250 four wheeler, he would just be ahead by a nose.
Now the Honda 250r 3 wheeler was insane fast. I couldn’t touch it in the long run. That 3 wheeler could have possibly hit 80mph but you better know what your doing.
The Yamaha Tri z didn’t do well at all, they had a lot of problems.
I never drove the quadzilla 500 from Suzuki. Always wanted to.
Lol.
Get a little snow on the ground and these quads become Disneyland, instantly! 🥳 That's my favorite time of the year to ride mine 👍
Put ice screws in the knobs and take it on a frozen pond
Man I was itching for that Tecate to pop some wheelies !!
All awesome machines!! Good stuff 2 vintage!
Dude I’m in love with the thumnail and title. dope video 😁
Wow the snow is gorgeous
Uh-oh, looks like up there in "so-chall-ed Wischonsin" 😁 ya'll already got snow!!!!! Wow
Honda is my favorite..glad u have all 3!
Monster video that was awesome sent me back to the days of looking at my 3&4 wheeler action magazines looking at the quad shootouts
I would have to say the best part is when all three were running🎶 and yes my first choice would be that beautiful Honda 250r 👌✌
Amazing to see the big three all together!
Great video man 🤙🏼
Don't see this much awesome quads man & awesome video
In the early 90s i had 250r 3 wheeler and a tri-z 250 and a tecate 4. Definitely some awesome memories have some pretty good scars from the 3 wheelers
Cool video. The bikes are pretty beat up but you guys are having fun.
I know all these quads would smoke a blaster but would be cools to see it with them
Are those mud sharks on the tecate ? GOd dude those were the must have amazing tires from way back... Wish they still made them.
3great quads joe done an awesome job on all of them music to my ears mate take care and all the best you too chuck 🔧🔧👍👌
I’ve been waiting so long for this video let’s goooooo also I’m grabbing the tecate all the way lol
When i was younger my father had a matching pair of Honda 250R 4wheeler and 3wheeler they were awesome
Love the video man keep it up
Really enjoy the racing vids. Although I would like to know the gearing of them all before hand all 3 are definitely worth keeping in the collection.
I built the 250r. I has stock gearing 13/39.
Was the Honda ported? Head milled? What year cylinder?
@@nathansumerlin8391 Lightly ported, head was not milled as far as I know, 86 cylinder.
My 87 lt250r keeps up with my friends 87 trx250r no problem and seems to handle just as well. The problem with this test is using a older non power valve LT. not really a good comparison
You are exactly right.. the 87 to the 92 qere the power valve engines, and the 87 of those being the fasted. 86 and 85 were dogs
Kawi, and Suzuki were there F1 fighter quads, they were awesome bikes! I miss them!
Love the channel, the fastest quad I have ever driven, or as fast as I care to go (think 30mph in snow) was the Suzuki (recon) LT500. Ironwood, WI early 90s pulling out snowmobiles
I used to race a 250 Tecate (Kawasaki) and I have to say I feel safer on a three wheeler than do on a Four wheeler. I gave a friend my Tecate to use for a weekend in the mountains and he and my three wheeler never came back. I did just find a Yamaha three wheeler that I mentioned to you before that needs an axle hub assembly (i would love to find the name for that assembly) and a carb. Great video. It still shows me that I love the three wheelers!
Like he crashed and died?
That's my dream right in this video ! Man you are one lucky guy !
I had those mudshark tires on a built 250r a custom built warrior and a few other quads tires were sick for snow off road and much more
Raced them on a cold rainy day now that’s what I call dedication
I had a Blaster in my youth..Lucky to be alive... Beat alot of bigger Quads...
Never was a fan, but Suzuki made some sharp looking machines back in the day 👌
After seeing them all side by side i think i like the looks of the suzuki the best. And the 250r is my favorite machine
I agree I got the 92 the last year and with a stock piston it’s widen and extended does 87 that was on a speed trap idk mine screws and wen I had my other jug was definitely faster than that could only b bored once more so I got another jug yes sprocket and needles definitely matter I’m 45 I’ve owned 2 racers nice quads that u have tho 😊
The later ones looked even better and had way more power
Legendary line up there bud! Had both the trx250r and quad racer back in the day. Never had a tecate tho!
Used to modifie them all three for racers and the Kawi is untouchable. Was too short and not large enough but, powerwise, the only one that could have beat it was the Kadzilla 500. Was pretty on par with the Banshee 350 except for top speed. The Banshee has the highest top speed of 2 strokes because of it origin of road bike. Also, the Kawi was the only quad that used the exact cylinder and carb of the motocross. The other two were using smaller carbs and different cylinders. Was noticeable staight on sound.
Amazing vid I've been waiting to see this exact vid forever ...gota love the trx250R I've had one of every yr 86-89
Awesome miss 2 stroke quads so much Make America 2 stroke again
Bro those I Razors on the back of the Honda are some good tires. I ran them on all my quads. Much love from arkansas. If u ever want to come down to CARTER OFF ROAD PARK and need somebody to show u around. It’s been my back yard my whole life. Way before carters bought the land and open it to a park.
They all sound good together. Cool beans
Nice to see Chuck again, do some MX terrain pls ?
Make sure you dont have a broken power valve on the kaw. I had one back in the day. Bought it used. It had a broken power valve when I got it. Fixed the power valve, did some port blending on it. The honda 250 trikes couldnt hang let alone the quads. Had a 4 inch extension in the swingarm helped keep the front end on the ground. Only quads that were faster was breathed on banshees.
Almost forgot, that honda sounds pretty lean on idle.
Liking the line up Joe! Actually came across the 250r forsale in a fb group I'm in.
Are these quads using stock sprockets? Makes a huge difference
The Honda does.
@@jasonmushmansixtyfive What was the top speed on it again?
73 mph
I love the smell of 2-stroke in the morning 🤘🏻
Sweet two stroke cold smoke. Minty
Love the content the videos are awesome you are good at what you do
Wow man I never thought I’d see a time where u had so many awesome and rare toys at once!
best quad collection!👌🏼
Really be nice to see your brother wear his helmet
Wow, that brings back memories. I didn’t recognize the 250R color scheme at first. I rode a buddies quad racer 500 for years. A total beast of a machine.
That's an 85-86 lt250r no doubt about it. Single vertical dead giveaway. Also has extended axle. If that was stock 89 suzuki lt250r it would lead the pack but im glad to know where my bike stands(86lt250r)
0:08 did anyone else cream themselves hearing the simultaneous puttputtputtputtputt of these beautiful machines in unison?!
i've had all 3 in my shop. and the honda was the best man. suspension was nice. i bored it .30 over. she was a beast man
I had a 250r 3 wheeler when I was a kid…. Most terrifying thing I’ve ridden.
Love the content you always put out keep up the good work buddy your brother sure is growing up lol dudes been drinking that milk milk lol
I would just like a ride on all 3 Love this channel
09:28 The parents are gonna be super happy about that. 😆
Add a nice lil 250 blaster in the mix and see how that all plays out
Honda is the King. The right front wheel leans really bad. The Kawasaki has some great tires on it. It really churning up the ground.
I started off as a teenager with the Tracy 250 3 wheeler than a Tecate 250 3 wheeler both ripping machines but nothing compares to a banshee, love the banshees.I own a yfz4 50 now just cause it sounds amazing And a grizzly 700 for when I’m feeling old!
Three sweet machines 🤘
Id take the 250r 😬😬
What mods have been done to each? Mods make a big difference.
chuck is a way better rider than his brother. he actually rides the machine , not just stabbing the throttle and trying for the 7th or 8th gear upshift. Actually knows how to start them as well, stab that kicker and hands off the throttle.
Exactly
Yeah but does he know how to work on quads as well as his brother? Who cares lol its not a competition
I see this every video stfu lmao they are both decent riders and Charlie knows a lot about building quads and bikes for being self taught 2 years ago he sucked every time he does something wrong someone bashes him for it I get he doesn't always take advice from others but maybe he just wants to learn on his own
Every 125 mx bike ive riden you could kick all day but always 1 or 2 kick with a slightly open throttle and they fired
Pro tip when warming two-stroke give it a little bit of gas remember they're not 4 strokes don't just turn them on and let them idle
Leave your lil bro alone 🤣😭 good video
I have a 250 2stroke & a 87 banshee frame can I put the engine into that frame? Question of interest.
What about Can Am? Where would they stand in the line up?
Super underrated yt channel vvv
What is the quad by the green one under all them tarp covering
U got life figured out my friend.
You guys do great videos, what fun a lil snow adds to equation!!!
Beast Mode Homie
You always have good Videos
Holly GAP that things fast!!
Kaw needs some +2 forward & +2 wider A-arms ,kfx 400 shocks as well. They are all awesome. Good gas and good oil. Only hold pinned under a load. Last way longer than most people will believe.
A good running 250r will keep up with a Banshee. By far my favorite machine on earth. Love the Tecate though
Same i love the lt250r king quad, beats most things
@Cale Phillips yes it will 🤣, not stock no but they have 250r that will out run banshees
