- Honda’s TRX250X returns to their lineup for 2016. As an entry-level, sport/recreation ATV, the TRX250X is a go-to machine for first time sport ATV enthusiasts looking for a light-weight, and nimble, recreational trail quad. Recommended for riders age 16 and up, the 250X is an attractive choice for riders who have long-since physically and mentally outgrown their 90cc ATV. It’s also one of the few new machines a younger rider could afford, save up for, and purchase.
The 250X has been proving its superb durability since it was released in 2001 as the 250EX. While it hasn’t changed much over the past 15 years, what makes a great entry- level machine hasn’t changed much either, and chances are if you’re considering buying a 250X, it’s likely new to you. That’s why the 2016 Honda TRX250X was a machine we were determined to put to the test.
At the end of the day, a great entry-level sport ATV needs to feel quick, handle light and predictably, be extremely durable, and come at a price most enthusiasts can afford. The 2016 Honda TRX250X offers all of that.
The TRX250X is a great, first sport quad for inexperienced off-road enthusiasts. It’s a good option for a teen looking to gain experience before moving up in a machine. Most wives or girlfriends could enjoy it nearly forever. What’s best is that the 250X is one of those ATVs that’s always nice to have around as nearly anyone can have a great time riding it, and that’s really what Honda’s TRX250X is all about.
my lil brother got himself a 2014 trx 250x today. I've got a 05 Suzuki ltz 400. I think me and him are gonna have lots of fun!!
This is a solid quad. I had a 2002 or 2003 250EX back in the day. VERY reliable engine, it can run forever. I ran mine dry out of oil as a kid cause I was an idiot...engine didn't lock up. Just added more oil, and it started right back up for many more years of enjoyment. Awesome quad! (Not something to buy if you want a fast quad). Anyone can ride it. Very fun for the family. Highly recommended for younger kids / women / whole family quad. This thing is SOLID & RELIABLE! Probably tops out around 45 - 50 MPH. Great all around bike for the trails & backyard fun. My old one responded great to intake, full exhaust, and jet.
I have a 2002 250ex and I love it so much! I'm 19, 5' 10" 190lbs and I just can't get enough of it! so much fun in the trails and when you want to go fast, this will do it! overall great quad and very reliable! I hope honda keeps it the way it is for the future 250exs'! simple, fast and fun! period!
I have 450 dirt bikes and 450 quads, Yamaha Suzuki and Honda are sitting in my garage. yet, I see myself having the most fun on my 05 trx250ex, such a simple, extremely reliable, powerful little 4 wheeler. I love it, its just so cute how can you not love it. its true what this guy said, these 250s are always good to have around no matter how fast your ride may be, you can always hop on this thing and still have a blast
NoStress90s Do you have multiple 250s? I can pay as much as from 500-3000. I will need to try it out and see how it feels because I am technically new to atvs but I am familiar with dirt bikes
I started riding quads when I was 2 years old. I got my first quad with a clutch at age 9, it was a 2003 Honda 300ex bored over to a 360cc. After riding that for a while, I moved up to a 2013 Honda TRX400X, at about the age of 11. I instantly fell in love with it. After 2 more years, (beginning of 2016) I traded it for 2 KX250F's. One was a 2005, and the other was a 2008. I loved those bikes for the power output and handling. Then, I sold those bikes in about 3 months, and bought a 2011 Yamaha YFZ450R, and I rode it every single day, in the trails, local track everywhere. Eventually it blew up, I had it from November 2016 to about February 2017. I sold it and bought a 2008 Can-Am DS450 MX model. It had too much power for my liking, because the former owner had about $19,000 in the bike in total. I bought that quad for $3,000. I traded it for a bone stock 2004 Honda TRX450R. I currently have that quad and I'm 13 years old. And no, I'm not bragging about my age. I just started riding earlier. I'm just giving my personal opinion on all my toys. If you want to check out my TRX, my instagram is payto_tayto. I have multiple parts coming in, and from it being stock, I have about $1,200 in it already. Thanks for reading!
ATV on demand does the best most thorough Atv reviews on the planet!!! Keep it up please.
We don't plan on retiring anytime soon.
I'm 15 and 6'3 195 pounds and still have a 2008 250ex. its a great machine and I've rode it since I was eight and i keep up with my dads can-am 500 through all terian trails: mud, hills, fallen trees, just about anything. you can beat the crap out if this machine and the only maintenance needed is oil changes and a good spray off every once in a while.
Kinda stinks that this is all that is really left in this segment. Back in the day you had alot more choices, blaster, 300ex,mojave, warrior etc. The blaster was the best In my opinion in this segment back then!!
Mojave was SWEET.
I had a 2003 blaster and years later had a 87 trx 250x . I honestly liked the 250x better
@@NateMcCabe2764 I also had a 2003 Yamaha blaster it was the special edition black and red
Just got a 2021 Honda trx250x and it’s already the funniest quad I’ve ever rode
That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard
hahahahaha
5:11 dope wheelie
Dude do a video on that atc 250sx I saw in the background
I found this 1991 250X this guy completely rebuilt, red plastics,300ex front shocks, FMF pipe,it was disassembled down to every bolt. I just wanted a 1987 since i was a kid but i got this one cuz it was so mint. I love it, but Im only 130LBS and short AF so to me it flies, lol
Falcon Owlsome I bet it does. The 250X that you have is a totally different machine than this 250X. The one you have is quite a bit faster.
Sweet! Thanks for the info! I got my wife a Warrior 350 but she'd rather have an automatic 4x4 style quad so i'll look thru your videos for something like that. If you have any recommendations I'd appreciate it very much thanks!
Been thinking of buying one of these for a while. I've ridden my friends 250ex on and off and his recon which I prefer. Part of me wants something with more power, but I don't really believe I'm experienced enough of a rider to push it. Seems like this is more than good enough!
If you decide to pick one up you might want to check out our project 250X/EX video. It's full up ideas on how to customize the machine. ua-cam.com/video/2GydPLaZxcU/v-deo.html
Such a great video. Let’s get more reviews please. Keep the videos going!!
Thanks for watching and for such a great comment. More test videos on the way shortly.
Great review! Glad to hear you guys are working with Honda now! Looking forward to more reviews of their machines from you guys!
+Palomino488 Thanks. We are excited to bring more to you.
they should bring back the trx300
Yes, an updated version would be great.
They still have the submarine motor I see lol. They are good reliable little bikes, an old friend of mine had a the 2002 model.
OG Bobby Johnson submarine motor LOL

I’m 6”3 and 165lbs this a decent ATV for me? I have experience, but haven’t rode in years and just wanted something at a good price to drive around in.
At your size, with almost any level of experience we would probably encourage you to go for something a bit bigger. Since price seems to be a factor we would assume you will be looking to buy a used machine. If you can, try and budget for a good used Raptor 700. 400cc class machines like the Honda 400EX, 400x, or the Suzuki Z400 would also be good options although they are airgonomics lie a little smaller. Even a Yamaha Warrior might not be a bad machine for you although the ergonomics are pretty dated. We believe the Raptor 350 oh, an updated version of the Warrior, had a slightly better handling and airgonomics. You may be able to find one of these Yamaha 350s at an even better price. The Honda 250EX or modern 250X is a cool little machine. We just don't see it keeping you happy long enough. If you have any other questions please feel free to hit us back. Hope this helps.
@@ATVonDemand will 6'4 still sit comfortably ?
I have a 86 250r,99 banshee & 2014 450r but I'm always stealing my girlfriends 250x it's a blast!
I’m with you my TRX250 is a major wheelie machine I like it more than my trx450
Fun machines for any age group...Yeah I have had the fastest quads made as well as bikes, but my son and I would have a blast on a pair of these...For tight trail riding its all we really need and save a ton of money....I would simply fine tune the carb settings for best running and even leave the stock pipe on there so no repacking slip ons...smooth out the header pipe welds for even more power...I would spend any extra money on some aftermarket suspension and we could ride for fun for years without breaking the bank.....may be a reality very soon...We already have a SXS, and I am selling my Suzuki Boulevard S83 this week. i've seen matching pairs in great shape in the 3-3500 range....I miss our old Ozark and these are faster yet....No it will never be my old ATC250r or my Fourtrax 250r,,but at my age now,,,50,,and my teenage son we would just ride for fun...even put a 1500lb warn winch on the front of both of them as well as handguards for cold weather riding and brushy trail riding...great little quads.
Stu650Zuk some of the best times we've had riding we're on the smallest machines. A couple of riders on small well-matched machines makes for a great time. Wheel of side-by-sides but they are a bigger hassle to deal with.
That atv is awesome!
We certainly had a lot of fun with it.
Very good trail bikes I say one best got a high clearance on bike high enough for riding over logs rocks, yes got reverse, all out good trail bike river riding. Dont think twice if ur use 4 trail riding...not most powerful it's fun 2 ride in woods
When you said the colors it came in instead of black and white did you mean black and red?
No. We're pretty sure that black and white or red and white with a color options a few years back when we filmed this.
Why doesn’t my 250x stay on?? It’s been sitting for about a year and I changed the battery it starts but does not stay on. What can I do?
We have had the same problem with our machine after leaving it sitting for awhile. Newark gas these days is crap. If you are going to let your machine set for more than a couple of months you would do well to either drain the fuel or at a fuel stabilizer. There is probably some grit in your carburetor from corrosion or you may simply have a piece of dirt stuck in one of the Jets. If you know how to take the carburetor apart and clean it that would probably solve the problem. If not it's a job you're dealer should be able to do in an hour or two. That would be our first guests.
ATVonDemand Thank you very much for the advice👍🏼👍🏼. I will drain the gas that’s been in the tank for some time now and I’ll add fresh gas see how that goes. Thanks again💪🏼
I have a raptor 250r and it's perfect
Kite Adidan that was a great machine. We wish him a hot would bring it back.
this is not a speed demon its made for normal trail riding and dependability….
im 6’1 around 220 lbs, is this a good quad for me? if not can you recommend me one pls
Look into the Raptor 700 if you want to buy something new or used. If you're looking at used machines consider the 400EX, TRX450R, Suzuki Z400, those would be some of our top picks. This machine would be a bit on the small side for someone your size.
bought one for my GF & got me the 450R, she luvs it & shit I like riding it to
I have a modified ds250 and it rocks!
What have you done to it?
Does it still have the toughness of the trx1985 series. Thoes last forever
Any new model ATVs that have a full true manual transmission?
Yamaha Raptor 700R and yfz450r.
Great video! I just found one of these for sale and I'm researching it for my son. My son is currently on a Polaris Outlaw 90 and this would be quite the upgrade for him. The one I'm looking at is a 2007. I concerned though, that this might be too big of a jump for him as it's marketed for 16+. He just turned 12 and has about two years experience on ATVs. We primarily do trail riding and he's not much of a daredevil....yet at least. Here's my question...In part of this video you mentioned the seat is a bit hard and may not be great for long rides. Can you elaborate on this a bit for me? I'd also like to hear any thoughts on a 12 year old riding this. Thanks!
Since most of the machines that we review are loaned To Us by the manufacturers, we cannot recommend an ATV for a rider younger than its minimum recommended age. That being said, I can tell you that one of our staff members 5 ft tall 100-pound girlfriends rode this machine a number of times and found its eyes to be quite comfortable and it was a good fit. At 6 feet tall I find this machine to be a little small but not so small that it is uncomfortable. Some respectable racing series allow Racers under the age of 16 to race ATVs in the 250 to 400cc range depending upon age. Your local Honda dealer cannot sell you the mild-mannered 250X for your 12 year old however, most of them will happily sell you a 250cc 4-stroke Motocross dirt bike with twice the horsepower.
For an appropriately-sized beginner or Rider with minimal experience the 250X is easy to learn and improve on. As an adult who gets to ride lots of different ATV models this seat is comparably firm four-day-long long trail rides. It absolutely never made any of our staff not want to ride it and as a teenager I would have ripped this thing all day long With no real complaints regarding the seat. Some ladies and older adults might find it to be a bit stiff.
While I cannot recommend this ATV for a 12 year old if you have any other specific questions about the machine and its performance I would be happy to answer them for you.
ATVonDemand, I do understand and thank you for the insight. I’m 6’2, 250 and rode his 90 outlaw just fine so I can only imagine how much easier to ride this would be. I think we’ll give it a shot. Thanks again.
Ya son will enjoy this bike good for trails rivers, high clearance for ride over logs rocks good hike owen 2 them we hav fun in woods rivers
Hello, that atv is the correct one to prepare it for motocross or cross country or should I change it for a raptor 250 (what happens is that I have a TRX250EX)
If you are going to get serious about racing you might want to look into a Raptor 250. It would be difficult to make the 250 x / 250 e x into a competitive Motocross machine but you could have some fun in Cross Country racing with it.
@@ATVonDemand Thanks, what do you think of the blaster?today are still accepted in the categories?
@@ATVonDemand I have a question about the ATV
God bless spread his word!
soooo...other than the clutch what's changed?
+SuperCracker Wade Since its introduction, styling, sport clutch, new tires, and we think that's about it. Once again, its a beginner machine. They don't necessarily need to redesign it, although some shock updates would be welcomed.
+ATVonDemand okay so I stand corrected. I think what I'm probably a little annoyed with more than anything is the cc size of the machines and the ages for them. a 14-15 year old even if he or she is a new rider probably doesn't fit on a 90 cc unless maybe of course he or she is a "little" person. I would like to see a more competitive 250 out of the box from Honda. Maybe make 2 different models?
How would this do in a drag race against a kymco maxxer 450i?
Maxxer by a little. Just a prediction can't say for sure.
I have a 2004 Suzuki ltz 250 and it’s almost the exact same no chain shaft drive but it is insanely fast and with the suspension and other things I’ve upgraded it really has power it is extremely untamed the motor is bulletproof and when your coming out of a trail and up let’s say an off camber turn all you do is hit the throttle and there is the power I’m guessing the Honda is about the same but I’d like to see what is can do with an exhaust and new intake
im 12 and 4'9 what is a good quad for me i have drived quads since i was 4 years old i have a warrior 350 now
edit: i know im short
The best quad for you is the one you already have so your parents don't have to buy you new shit
Your already on the perfect quad
Would you think about doing a race build
I’m 5,7 14 years old I’ve been riding this thing since I was 10 don’t listen to age opinions.
We understand that inevitably it is up to your parents to decide what's best for you. The manufacturers have to follow these age recommendations due to government mandate. Because we work with the manufacturers we have to pass the information on. Enjoy that machine.
How is it at climbing hills
It’s amazing so yes
My blaster would smoke this
My boss gave me a 98 Blaster for free. Full FMF exhaust, the upgraded Keihin carb, Vforce reeds/cage, DG bumpers and nerf bars, twist throttle, renthal handle bars, clearly $1000 just in aftermarket parts. Took a little maintenance to get it running but it runs good and is a lot of fun for free! 👍
How tall and how much did the riders weigh
I was riding that when I was 11
How can they justify 5k for that when 420 Ranchers are commonly as low as 3999? I purchased a 250trx ex in 2012 for $2500 from the dealer. What has changed?
OKLA that's a great question! I've always wondered this too, are the cheesy sport fenders really worth $1000+ more?
The 250EX was actually introduced in 1987.
The only thing this machine has in common with the 250X released in 1987 is the name. This machine is mechanically virtually identical to the 250EX which was released in the 90s. The 250X from 1987 had a few minor motor updates and became the 300EX which was discontinued a few years back.
Thanks. I have an 87 250 and I ride with my cousin who has a 91 300 that makes a lot more sense to me now.
Hey so I have a Polaris Phoenix 200 should I swap it for this ?
Yes
ATVonDemand but the issue is that I live in Malta and they don’t sell them here and the uk is the closest option but they don’t sell them there what do I do

my 2017 250x is a dog on speed ....but great for wood crawling ...but on the road just a toad. in stalled a K&N.I don't think i have to clean the carb yet or may be soo..wondering if i could up the game by jets and pipes??
It pulls a little harder with a good aftermarket exhaust and jetting. It won't change top speed much at all but it will get there a little faster.
@@ATVonDemand is a K&N filter good w/filter cover maybe ? ..or reg foam aftermarket ? Thanks.
No offense but your weight could be a factor, also I put even one size bigger than stock rear tires and it brought the top speed down to 42 mph, so if you put bigger tires on, that is a likely issue.
what is the top speed ?
ATVonDemand Have any suggestions for a 250cc race atv for me? I’m 11, 5’5, 140lbs. I don’t have any ideas other than the 2013 Honda 250ex, and the 250cc vitacci pentora. Thanks bro, hopefully you can give me some ideas. I’d greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for the question. What type of racing are you interested in participating in. This will help us.
ATVonDemand I’m not interested in racing, because I am not very good at riding atvs. Everybody is saying I should get a 250cc to learn on and I agree. I prefer riding on roads and trails. I don’t really like racing.
ATVonDemand I say race atv because if I don’t people will assume I want a square can-am or Polaris and that’s not what I’m looking for
ATVonDemand I don’t have a very big price range. Mainly 1500 to 4000
@Tyler Reynolds
Get a Honda Recon. It’s a very good little quad. It’s a utility, it’s comfortable, good little work horse, etc. I recommend the Recon.
I started on a 250ex and went to a 400ex, now I got a 05 trx 450r
Awesome, that's the way to move up.
Jett Blevins that’s the road I’m on, started with 250 and got a 400 now
I am completely new to ATV's or motorcycles of any kind. I was interested in trail racing. I am 6"4 so the question I have is am I too tall for this bike? Thanks...
Yes, you're definitely big for this machine. Someone your size should probably be looking at at least a 400cc machine. If you want to get into racing, you will be looking at a 450cc machine you could get a new yfz450r, or look for a good deal on a used TRX450R. Either one is pretty fast but if you take your time and you're careful you could grow into either one. If you're looking to play more than race, you might have a look at the Yamaha Raptor 700. While the displacement is larger it's actually easier to ride than most for 450s. If you have anymore questions on any specific machines please feel free to ask. We love seeing new people get into the sport.
Thank you for taking time to respond. I appreciate and will follow your advice.

Disclaimer, the manufacturers recommend all of the machines that would interest you for riders 16 and up. That being said, There are classes in racing for riders your age up to 400cc. We would recommend sticking to the racing guidelines. If you want something brand new, the 250X would be your best option. If you are looking to buy something used, it's hard to beat a piped Yamaha Blaster when it comes to fun for the dollar. The 300EX would also be a good option. Who else thinks they should bring back the trx 450r
Brendon Lewis unfortunately, not that many people. Honda wasn't selling enough of them and that's why they decided to discontinue it. with the price of sport ATVs nearing the $10,000 mark manufacturers are going to have to learn how to build less expensive sport ATVs or start updating them regularly like their dirt bikes. the 450R went away because nothing changed except the price in addition to the rise of UTV's. We wish they'd bring it back but bring it back significantly updated so everyone who has a current 450R has a reason to upgrade
how to cube hell yeah it is love my 08 trx450r
I plan on installing a shock conversion kit on my 250x this summer so I can run full length 400ex or 450r style shocks, and I was wondering which front shocks you would recommend installing. I trail ride hard and often and have found that the shocks cannot handle what I put them through. I weigh 140 (if that matters at all) and am looking for shocks without external reservoirs as my budget is relatively small.
Sorry it took so long to respond. Could you please tell me who makes the shock conversion kit that you're looking at?

Thanks for doing this review guys. I'm looking for a machine for my son and the TRX 250 and Brute Force 300 are on the list. I know you did a review of the BF 300 and saw it in one of the shots on this video. How would you compare the two?
the brute forces are horrible bikes from what I've seen, it's not even a kawasaki motor it's a kymco motor, my buddies 300 threw bearings and pistons, I have a 250x and nothing is more reliable than that bike trust me on that.
He's 11, but too big for the 90cc machines I think at 5ft + and 100lbs.
Hello, I'm looking at both also, what you end up doing?
would this be a good starter ATV for my wife? she is only 5ft so she finds bigger ATVs like polaris 570 and even the 450 too intimidating for the size height wise
My wife is about the same height as yours. She rode this machine a bit while we had it in for testing. The size of this machine will fit her very well. With the auto and manual clutch setup it's virtually stall proof like a CVT equipped machine. It will require her to move around a bit more when trails get Gnarly because of its smaller dimensions but it is extremely light and easy to maneuver. If you are going to upgrade anything on the machine for her we would consider an entry level set of aftermarket shocks. They're not mandatory but she will appreciate them on Long rides. Hope this answers your question if you have any others please that is back.
@@ATVonDemand thanks so much for the detailed response!
If I'm 14 and 6'1" what size atv should I get for 80% trail riding and 20% racing. (Engine Size and Brand Recommendation Please) Also sport quad or utility style.
HI NIck, If you want to race motocross, a sport quad is the only way to go. While most of the machines you would want are recommended for riders 16 and up, some racing organizations allow riders 13 or 14 and up to race some smaller displacement full size machines. Look gnccracing.com and atvmotoross.com and look at the class rules. Seeing what machines are legal to race will make you decision a lot easier.
I bought the Wife the new 2019 250X,I have a 1991 250X I bought new in 1991,the new machine is not as fast as the old one,but it does handle nice for the Wife.
In the next few months I'll probably be getting another one for myself, and using the '91 less, why?getting old (55) and getting tired of kicking starting.I will add some adjustable shocks, and a pipe to mine to make it more fun.
Congratulations on the new machine for your wife. We were going to suggest maybe looking into a set of Elka Legacy shocks for your wife. They will make the right a bit more plush. She will enjoy it more.
@@ATVonDemand Thanks on the Shock tip!
Does the trx250x 2013version have reverse
Yes, reverse
What about this vs the Kawasaki brute force 300?
Hello need some advice from you atv experts my fiancee wants a honda 450r trx for Christmas however i found a trx 250x whats yal opinion is there a big difference?
Wow, your fiance is lucky! There is a huge difference between a TRX450R and a TRX250X. To start, the 450 has more than double the horsepower. Its chassis is longer and wider. The 450 also has significantly better suspension. The 250 is a great learning machine for somewhat younger, smaller, beginner level Riders or those who are simply more interested in having some fun and not beating their friends in a drag race. A 450 has the ability to be turned into a serious race machine for just about any type of racing. Again, the 250 is more about just having fun.
You can have a blast on a 250. Especially with a couple of them. However, it won't come close to a 450R. That being said, you can probably find a good used 450R for less than the price of buying a new 250. We would suggest finding a 450R for your fiance and a 250X or 400ex for yourself.

@@ATVonDemand Awesome and thanks so much and yes he most definitely wants something with some horse power to beat his friends. Thanks for being so detailed thats exactly what i wanted to know im looking around for one in my area no luck yet. Im going to see if the place that approved me for the 250 can find a 450R
Yea one is much faster
So is it true that Honda isn't making the 400x-450er anymore?
+Joseph Ross (Modelking1000) It appears so, but we aren't sure this is the end of Honda building sport ATVs. Check our site in the coming week for more info.
I had this quad. Just buy a 450 and learn to ride. With a 450 :You can de tune it, limit the throttle, change the gearing to make it longer, just drive slow as possible untill you get comfortable. This quad will leave you wanting more if you weight more than 150lbs. So if your a smaller person or very young thats who should get it. 150lbs and or 18+ get a 450 and be done.
+MechHead Naga GMG Some riders don't want to deal with the 450R's manual clutch, high first gear, jittery low-end power, and more frequent maintenance, Face it, just because a machine is right for you, it may not be ideal for everyone on the market. Some of us prefer the Raptor 700R over the YFZ450R. we'd hate to only have one sport quad to choose from and are glad Honda and Yamaha are offering diverse machines.
I’m a 16 year old looking for a fast bike but nothing to kill myself on but I’m rlly experienced I’m 6’3 223 any suggestions
Would you like to buy new or used?
Trx450r or Raptor 700 you only go as fast as you let your thumb to.
Yeah get a 450 or a 700 I'm 17 just picked up my LTR 450 today things a beast
So I know there coming out with a new TRX450R with fuel injection but what do you guys know about a new Suzuki LTR 750 to compete with Yamaha's 700R Raptor ????
+Steviedee 73 We've not heard anything regarding a big bore Suzuki but there are rumors flying about some new sport machines over the horizon. We will expand on this in the coming week on our website.
+Steviedee 73 first hearing of it and happy, love Suzuki they dont get enough credit
It kind of remind me of the atc 200x just a fun and simple machine.
+Nicholas Boeneke Agreed. A fun simple machine that should run for 30 years or so.
Any good atv recommendations for beginner but not to go to slow atleast 30 miles per hour or faster
What is your height, weight, and what type of writing do you like to do?
450r and anythings that isn't polaris or artic cat
@@canadagamer852 anything that isn't a Polaris or arctict cat! lmao I'm dying ... I couldn't agree more!
Thinking about buying this in summer, I’m not sure tho
Haspin acres is where I ride my 250x🤷🏼♂️
Maybe we will see you there some time. We'll be the guys filming.
If you mind can i ask you the size
It's basically a 250. Actually a little bit smaller but close.
Thanks
I am 18 and 5'3 would this be a starter atv for me?
Lance Strain If I was you I would get the Honda trx 250x if you have never ridden atv before. If you have ridden atv I would get the Yamaha yfz 450
@@lathenhornback003 alright thankyou 🤘
We agree with Rubicon Garage. If you are shopping used you may also want to look at a 300EX or 400EX. Both handle well and have lots of aftermarket offerings for hop-ups.
Lance strain you are welcome
Dude. Just start with a 450. You won’t out grow it
Can anyone tell me why this is a red sticker in CA ???
As an entry level sport machine? You mean the only sport machine made now? :p
Don't forget about the Yamaha's. There are also a handful of 250-300cc CVT equipped machines.
@@ATVonDemand - What would you say the reason for the lack of good sport ATVs is? The loss of riding areas over the years, the younger generation being more indoor video game playing cats, the price of the machines is too much for the average worker that would buy them, people are more into 4x4 utility quads now, or....?
Ive looked for a Yamaha 250-125 for hours now no luck only china made bullsh. Thank god for honda.
@@e5m956 I'd say increase in liability concerns.
@@e5m956 I'm a gamer but I ride a dual sport through the woods daily in the Florida sugar sand, gaming isn't really an issue like most people think, but more of a substitute for lack of a better activity, the main issue is pricing. These days manufacturers want to sell sport quads much higher than they used to, which kills off desire. When it costs over $7k for the average 450cc quad, it just makes other options more viable, such as with me, I ended up buying a 2022 250cc dual sport for half the price.
I wonder if the old ones like the 1987 are faster ?
Absolutely 100% yes. The old ones are faster.
Yes, I have a 1987 TRX250X, the old ones stock go 51mph, these new ones stock only go 47mph
I have the honda 250x for like 6 years and i never changed something, it rides like new but do i have to change the air filter or the oil or something?
Pushing Honda reliability to the Limit.
@@ATVonDemand lmao
@@BunkerBlog yeah it can't hurt to change the oil
Can you do a video on a 2001 Polaris trailblazer 250
There are so many old machines that they don't make anymore that we would like to do reviews on. The new machines that we test mostly come from the manufacturers. The older ones that we have reviewed we have had to purchase. I guess we're going to have to start a patreon account to start funding the purchase of discontinue to ATVs for review. Those were cool machines. You could have a lot of fun on one and they didn't cost much brand new. A local Polaris dealer that we work with told us a while back about remembering when he had a couple of warehouses full of Polaris Trail Blazers due to the sheer volume that sold. Cool machine for the money. Do you own one?
Released in 2001?The model TRX250X has been around alot longer than that.I had a new 1987 TRX250x.That was the first year. The 87 had a manual clutch though..Maybe thats why u said it was released in 2001.
This isn't the original 250x, this is the 250EX renamed
ooohh...10-4

im 5'7 155 pounds just bout this atv today and i love it already even though i once owned a yfz450 and a z 440 i feel like im gonna really like this 250. what is the top speed though no one seems to know the answer to this?
We usually don't measure top speed unless we are always running out of it. I guess we need to start.
+ATVonDemand ok i was just curious. Im gonna guess 50
+Jake Lieb its about 45 to 55 ish not anything over 60 unless you do heavy modifications
+Isaiah Garcia thanks that what i figured
I like the old 250x better. Can you do a video on that please
So do we. We would trade the new one for the old one. If we can ever get our hands on one in good condition we would certainly like the film one.
I can hook you up with a friend that has two.
@@colestella7856 dklimmek44@gmail.com - im interested pls only if good condition.
I have a mint 92 250x that’s blue and way better than this new thing
Why doesn’t my 2016 250x go in neutral? I cant get the green light to come on that’s why it doesn’t start. The reverse light (red) turns on when in reverse but the neutral doesn’t. The lights turn on just fine it has a brand new battery I checked all the fuses but still no luck. I tried rocking it back and forth numerous times and still can’t find it. The quad rolls back and fourth like if it’s on neutral but no green light!
a channel Yes, that’s exactly what it was👍🏼 and my mechanic also said that the shift lever was stuck. It’s working perfectly fine now.
Can I jump this without damaging anything?
As you can see we were getting a couple feet of air with it. We never broke or bent anything during our testing and we jumped it quite a few times. Now, don't expect to go to a motocross track and start busting some 60-foot doubles with there's no reason you can't take it out to the trail and have fun getting a little air with it. An inexpensive pair of aftermarket shocks would go a long ways.
I'm 11 and ride a 99 Honda 400ex with a clutch
I’m looking to get one of these but i ride in a lot of sand so would this be ok or should i go for a 400EX?
Assuming you are physically large enough to ride a 400EX. If you have the budget, go for the 400 . Especially since you ride in the sand.
ATVonDemand I’m about 5’4 110lbs most likely not gonna get much bigger tbh
@@ryanharkins130 you can get great used 400ex's used for 2-4 grand
Wife rides hers in the sandy Michigan trails all the time. It handles it well. Needed a little more power though, exhaust, k&n airfilter, rejet the carb runs like a champ. Also I have a 400ex and on tighter trails I prefer the 250.
this would be fine
Hmmmm, a gutless 250 for 5K, or a used 400ex for under 2k? Gee, how will I make that decision!
Honda should still be selling the 400EX for $5,000 like they did in 1998. It's hardly changed. They would have sold a lot more in the last few years than they have.
ATVonDemand Agreed. First back in the sport ATV market, and last to update their machine!
Am I able to take this quad to the sand dunes without paddles
Sure it will get around. It just won't go up to steep stuff.
dentro de muy poco tendre el mio ya sea el Honda TRX 250 o el YAMAHA RAPTOR 250
I want one
@ATVonDemand You told me i'd be the first to know when you do a TRX450R review, when are you guys going to do one?
+Rabid Wolf Gaming As you can see we have begun working with Honda. That's everyone! We are waiting to see if Honda is going to release a new TRX450R for 2017. We have some thoughts on the food possibility of that happening that we will be writing a brief story on for our website.
We currently have a TRX450R project in the works for the summer. If Honda comes out with a new 450 we will do everything possible to get you a test.
ATVonDemand Alright man, can't wait! Keep posting these sick videos brother!
How does it handle rocky sand ?
Rocky sand like desert Trails? It should do okay. Sand like the sand dunes, it would do fine as long as you don't take it up in the Steep stuff.
ATVonDemand yep
Im 11 5,1 what atv should i get thats not too fast cuz im kind of a begginer
it depends what your fast is SavageTiger71 so i would say get a trx 90 bc im 5'10
and can ride a little 50 so it just depends on your skill level and u can always just use 1st or 2nd gear. Im 14 and race a raptor 250 but ive also been riding since i was 2 so i would say get a trx90
Would this be a good racing quad?
no
You could if you tune it right and ditch the automatic crap
IronchaseGaming still won't compare
IronchaseGaming its automatic?
Daniel Day it sort of is but not to
Does the trx come from the factory with the differential locked? Or is it opened?
It's a closed differential. Pretty much a straight axle.
@@ATVonDemand is it hard to turn on pavement
?
good but needs more power
Said air cooled, as the camera looked at the oil cooler
Fast machines 500r air cooled atvs Can have a Oil cooler
can you guys do a review of the 2016 Kymco Mongoose 300 I'm looking everywhere I can to get an honest review by people who have ridin it but there all in foreign languages, if you could do a review that would be greatly aprecciated by not just me but many others, thankyou!
+Kegan Wilson For 2016 the MOngoose is actually called a 270, although we don't believe the displacement changed. It was always a 270. We reviewed this machine back in 2009 which should give you a good idea about how the new machine performs. ua-cam.com/video/fVIBv-qmzrk/v-deo.html If we can get our hands on a new 270 this summer its due for a reevaluation. It might be good to see how it stacks up had-to-head with the Honda 250X.
+ATVonDemand thank-you! I'm actually looking to buy a 250 class quad under $5000 so I'll check it out.
