Please leave a comment and tell me if you actually ground balance your Equinox or not and did this video change your mind. Also, if you are interested in seeing more of these short how-to videos on the Equinox let me know. Did you see my dog disappear?
Great Video man!! I love the way you keep everything simple and straightforward. I've learned more from you and your channel than anyone else. Did you know you can factory preset the individual modes without turning off the machine. You just select the mode you want to preset and hold in the buttons just like you showed in this video. I'm sure you already know this, but maybe someone else benefit from this comment. Love your videos. Happy Hunting 😊👍😎👍
Thanks and thanks for vote of confidence on the videos. I like doing these types of videos so may I'll do more! Good tip on the individual modes I don't think I knew that. THANKS!
@@MentalMetal awesome. You showed me the cool notching technique that has worked very well for me . So I'm glad I was able to shoot some info your way as well 😎👍👍
Thanks for sharing Scott. I ground balance every time I land detect, and sometimes several times during the hunt if ground conditions change. When water detecting I leave it at zero. Your video won't change my process. In my opinion, it helps to ground balance.
Thanks Andy and I hit the dislike button by accident (removed now) I was on my phone earlier when I saw your comment so I fat finger it LOL. I'm def going to start Grnd Balancing now. I did find a bunch of stuff without it but time will tell. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful! I'll be doing more micro sessions on the Equinox so keep checking back. Plus, check out my website for Equinox related tips etc. www.mentalmetaldetecting.com.
I'm relatively new to metal detecting, I own a GarettAT Pro right now and am looking to update my machine. I'm kind of on the fence on 2 machines right nowtge Nokta Legend, or the Minelab Equinox. If you would, I'd appreciate your input. I live in Florida and do a bit of relic hunting and a little saltwater beach hunting. Thanks.
Both machines will serve you well. The Nox 800 has been known to leak but the new 900 seems to be doing well. Both the Legend and Nox perform about the same so its just a matter of personal preference and price IMO.
I rarely ground balance my 800. I only do it when the machine is sounding funky. When that happens, I ground balance and noise cancel. Sometimes it cleans things up. Sometimes it doesn’t.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I will start grnd balancing from here out and see if makes a big difference. I suspect it won't for the most part.
I think I will try ground balancing again based on your video. BTW, the "squiggly thing" is called the Tracking Ground Balance icon. It also shows up during the Auto Ground Balance process. Also the default method in Gold Mode is Tracking Ground Balance in case anyone is interested in knowing.
I should have mentioned that but yes anytime I make any changes to ground balance I always noise cancel. I'll bring it up in the next video I do. I'm going to do a series of these short micro sessions on the Equinox. Thanks!
Its has to matter. Otherwise it wouldn't be inappropriated in the machine. Mindlab put it there to so we can have a better chance finding our targets. So for me ,its a no brainer. I do however by leaving it at zero ,see how it helps if you just started with the machine...Anyway, Great video you channel
Man sometimes I forget to ground balance. I was also using tracking. So maybe that’s where I’ve been messing up. I will try to do automatic next time I go out to see if there is a difference.
100% correct, just leave it at zero. The ground I hunt had so much iron it's really hard to find a clean piece if earth anyway. My past detectors demanded a ground balance, but zero does the trick. I live deeply rural so EMI isn't a factor either, just not many homes and power lines ..... mostly none. 👍🏽
I work the beaches here in the UK----dry sand to wet sand to waters edge. Normally my 800 is in auto gb- [ little squiddle top right ] because of the changing consistancy of the beach , black sand etc. People are of the opinion when in auto gb there is a loss of depth and would be better to do manual gb. Your thoughts on this ? Found small items ie thin hooks etc at 10 to 12 inches depth and minute bits of aluminium, so am quite pleased working in auto. Thanks for your video---easy watching !
Thanks for Watching and glad they are easy to watch that was the goal. So as far as ground balancing on the beach, from what I've noticed and I'm at the beach right now, if you run one of the beach search profiles you will notice that ground balance is set to 0 on purpose. I think you could try your own program and save the gold program in your extra search profile (Nox 800 only). Then you could compare both profiles by switching back and forth. I do think you will end up getting a lot of false signals and chatter by manually ground balancing but that is just my theory. Good luck! Let me know if you try something like that.
@@MentalMetal look at it this way....would you listen to your favorite radio station....say 100.7 on channel 100.6? No...there's too much static.....you need to dial that detector in....just like you would for that channel on the radio, to get the best results possible.....and don't skip the noise cancel either lol

I always ground balance thanks for the video hopefully you will have more.
I gb every time. I like these videos, good info.
Very good and easy to follow,,, I'm a newbie so I will be ground balancing my nox 800
Enjoy the machine its a good one. Good luck

I think you have a good process I wouldn't change either. :-)
I travel to different states so I make sure I GB every time. Great Video!
Awesome! Thank you!
I really appreciate these lessons learned type videos, so thanks! As for me I always ground balance my machines.
Glad it was helpful!
I rarley ground balance either and tracking seems to track to targets and can be sketchy to use.... on the beach.... i use it...good video scott !

Haha no worries! Happy hunting scott!
Thank you! I always wondered how to do the tracking method
Happy to help!
Thanks Scott, I balance at every site. Thanks for sharing. Chris-"Preserving _the_ Past"
You bet!
Thank you for the tutorial! I like to learn a new function every 4 months or so. I’ll try this “ new” to me trick ! 👍
Awesome! Good luck.
Thank you, that was helpful as am new to the EQ600..

Thanks Scott great video as usual 👍 Do you noise cancel everytime?
I should have mentioned that but yes anytime I make any changes to ground balance I always noise cancel. I'll bring it up in the next video I do. I'm going to do a series of these short micro sessions on the Equinox. Thanks!
Glad you did this video thanks!
Glad you liked it!
If there are options to do any function on you machine it is always better to LEARN YOUR MACHINE. Stay safe

Thanks for the comment. Appreciate it.
Great information thank you
Glad it was helpful!
For beach use, should I complete auto GB (holding the button and pumping the coil) and leave off tracking?
You shouldn't need to ground balance if you are in the Beach program.
You seem to know your machine Scott. I always use the ground balance feature on all of my machines!
Its a good idea for sure. Thanks again Jerry.
Man sometimes I forget to ground balance. I was also using tracking. So maybe that’s where I’ve been messing up. I will try to do automatic next time I go out to see if there is a difference.
Yeah stay away from tracking unless the ground is really bad. Good luck!
I will have to remember that. Thanks so to you as well.
Man what a difference. I turned off tracking and used the 6” coil. Holy cow.
Good info, thanks Scott. Ground mineralization around here is around 3, very low. It doesn't make much difference running at 0, does it?
Thank you my friend. Regarding your question, I'm starting to believe that it does. Doesn't hurt to try it.
Brilliant thank you 👍🚒🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it
Like your channel learning so much thank you
thank you for tuning in.
informative video sir, thank u

Right on
GB in all metal

gracias amigo!!!!!!!!
Happy to help my friend. Thank you!
Because of multi-iq, GB at zero will still get you 90% of targets. Manual GB will help you get the other 10% in funky ground or at fringe depths.
So if ground balance is at 0 with multi-iq, should I still do the auto ground balance technique and leave off tracking?
I ground balanced my gold and gold 2 setting and turned off my iron sensitivity…
Like the video however the brain rattling music is a bummer. Again thanks for the video.
Sorry about that. At least its not playing the entire video :-)
If you like deep iron..don't ground balance
Thanks for your comment. I'll have to test that out. Thanks!
You know you have to ground balance you silly man....
No necessarily on this machine but will probably do it more now.

Always breaking my balls LOL yes I should have mentioned noise cancel I know I know. Good luck this week I may run into you.
