The BEST way to prevent crashing.....grab that CLUTCH. Think of the clutch as a panic switch....a temporary On/Off switch. Trust me....you NEED to train your left hand to Squeeze immediately.....Because as a new rider, your gut reaction is to YANK the throttle, Trust me.....you will catch yourself doing it......if you squeeze the Clutch first, the Throttle element is taken Out......you don't crash....you just steer and Brake.

I'm looking to get back on a bike after a 35 year gap! I still miss my 1976 kawasaki z650 and that bike buzz. I'm sure when I do get back on the road I will enjoy it. Watching these excellent videos I haven't forgotten too much.
+Super Poptropican *closer look a profile picture* woa what are you doing here also? lmao jk. with that speed you don't need to learn how to ride a motorcycle (You probably wouldn't have enough money in the bank account after that purchase lmao)
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this video! Really helped me get the hang of taking off. I stalled so many times when I first hopped on the bike before watching this video. I got on it today and took off without any problems. I am a first time rider..obviously. Here's to other first time riders! Thanks again.
@@theyoutubeguy1 what does him riding a low displacement bike have to do with whether or not he knows what hes talking about? pretty much everything he's said are the same things you learn in an official MSF course.

This is the first video i watched 5 years ago to learn about the motorcycle basics .. ninja 650 2014 was my 1st bike .. now i own gsxr 750 .. cheers up man :)
My parents have bought me a CBR 150 but I didn't even know how to ride it 😂 thanks for teaching me the basics, at least I'll know where to start. Subbed !
Awesome video man. Taking a safety course that starts tomorrow so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before the course. I've never ridden a bike. This video made me a bit more confident in myself. Again, awesome video for us beginners!
If you guys would it have been my Math teacher, I would it have been an astronaut by now haha. Thanks for the video. Wish you guys safety out there, and to all of those that learned the basics with this video. Warm regards from Costa Rica dudes

Well I would definitely like to emphasize not starting on a supersport 600cc bike, for the exact reason of throttle control that you had a problem with. See, with a 250r or 650r, that mistake would have been a minor slip-up compared to what you experienced with your bike... but congratulations on keeping it upright.
Sorry for the mistake! What he meant to say was the front brake supplies around 70% stopping power and the rear brake gives about 30%. Meaning the front brakes will stop the bike a lot faster.
May be a stupid question, I don't know. But why is neutral in between 1st and 2nd and not at the bottom? I assume it is like this for all/majority of bikes...
Dhito Putranto thanks buddy! I originally thought it might be due to some technical reason but there is a video by DodgeRider that explains it in some detail I think.
Raman Ramlingam this is true - took my 125 out for the first time and almost dropped the thing as i turned coz the bike violently stalled as I did so. Tricky business....
Just let clutch out to the bite then keep pulling clutch in and out slowly with some revvs different cc need different amounts of throttle. Soon you will get the hang of it.
Please, if you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle, take a Basic Riders Course. Not only will you then know all that is wrong with this video, but you will also make life a lot safer for your self and everybody else that you will share the road with.
+Petr Novak True. this video is more of a supplementary kind. people don't just search videos on UA-cam and start learning driving. they will come here out of curiosity after having ridden the bike at least once.
Liked this review best one yet. Thank you. Wearing gloves helmet gear is all an obvious common sense so I wanted a video that would demonstrate the actual shift of gear and how the foot works so this video went straight into riding which was what i wanted, tha k you guys.
I am turning 16 next month and will be getting my license. How long does it take to get comfortable riding a bike? Is it like riding a bicycle? But with an engine?...
Comfortable, depends on the person. But once you feel comfortable, that's when in my opinion, it becomes a bit more dangerous. It's easy to get yourself in to a situation that you don't want to be in because you want to open the throttle and feel the full power of your bike :)
BoneJunkie holy crap yet. This guy gets it... listen to him. Happened to me. Got comfy and went for a lane split. I quickly realized I didn't want to be there anymore when a car closed the gap. Ass hole... i Forgot everything I knew about riding.. nothing happened but it felt too close for me. You always need to be on your toes bro.
i've only ever road around a car park but I thought it would be similar to a bike but it feels different, you can feel the power, even your leg positions are different and honestly its like nothing else
Yup! These guys, though well intended, are not proper teachers and certainly not professionals. For example I heard the rider state to use the rear breake "30% of the TIME, and the front brake 70% of the TIME"...this is completely misleading. Of course most will know he meant the fronts perform 70% of the braking while the rears provide 30%. That's not the same meaning as what was stated and new learner will misunderstand. When learning how to drive any motor vehicle, they always recommend getting professional teachers because friends & family will only pass on their bad habits to the learner, putting them at risk as well as other road users.
Because of riding his bike 5 mph? If he falls it would be called "dropping the bike" instead of "crashing the bike". Not even my driving school instructor was wearing a helmet when he explained that stuff to me...go to a monastery
Haha... thanks Nochill I got that but don't believe in "non rude" insults (kind of an oxymoron). I was questioning him to make him feel dumb. Dumb for commenting on someone else's video. Very Very Very good info. Pull clutch b4 doin anything.

Junaid Khan did you fall
you just use brake slowly..and put your leg down to the land..sorry..my english quite bad..
Just ride down the road next to parked cars - eventually someone will be kind enough to blindly open their door into the road to help slow you down.
Junaid Khan it is junaid khan why you saw video so I unliked you
yep, you got it right LOL
shout out to the cameraman who tried to follow the bike by running. good job. because of you, i can now ride bike with clutches

After watching this I feel I could get around my concern about clutch and gear changing. Very nicely explained.
Jesus Christ thank you so much, this was the most informative and concise straight to the point video I've found after looking for a week.
The one basic rule of riding a motorcycle you forgot to say was make sure you have the gear you need to protect your whole body from head to toes
Ronin DarkLion this video is obviously not about that
Ronin DarkLion He is an amateur - he is not qualified - go to a certified motorcycle
safety school - he does not know how to instruct a beginner
malthus101 Exactly. It should be.

Awesome video dude...
Sorry for the mistake! What he meant to say was the front brake supplies around 70% stopping power and the rear brake gives about 30%. Meaning the front brakes will stop the bike a lot faster.
Becuz front brake is dangerous. If you get excited and press it hard . You'll make a flip
eren yuksel with an ABS system you will never flip on a bike because it will not block the wheel,
GrandpaBambu use both but use rear brake first and then front brake
use front brake at high speed is't good idea
May be a stupid question, I don't know. But why is neutral in between 1st and 2nd and not at the bottom? I assume it is like this for all/majority of bikes...

I imagine the principle is the same, clutch, gear, gas. I am no expert though.
