    Taking the MSF course was my first time ever riding a motorcycle, seemed pretty easy they way they walk you through it one step at a time. Because I never had any previous experience I never picked up any bad habits, it was an eye opener to see experienced riders in my class fail during the two riding sessions.
    To any new rider looking to take the MSF course, my best advise would be forget what you think you know and listen and do what the instructor says and you'll do just fine.
    By the way I was sick as a dog throwing up both days and it was pouring outside on the second day during the riding test, and here I am 15 year's later and about to buy my third bike.

      @@diegolewzey5286 Hola amigo. I had some difficulty with balance too. Not so much on a straight line (I ride bicycles for so many years, I think it helped a lot) but it was hard for me to turn the motorcycle to the right side. Since the right foot controls the rear brake, and we are taught to put the left foot down when we stop, I always felt the right side a little more "vulnerable". So much so that I fell / dropped the bike on my 5th or 6th class making a U-turn to the right. It took me some time to develop the confidence to make a right turn and keep my balance. The things that helped me the most were: look where you wanna go. Don't look down and while making a turn your eyes should be pointing where you wanna go. And also, squeeze the motorcycle with your legs, while maintaining your shoulders relaxed. I hope this helps

    Just got an MT-03 as my first bike and my dad has been teaching me to ride in a parking lot. The clutch has by far been the most difficult part of learning. You have to really treat it gently on the takeoff or you'll kill it. Up hill and down hill starts especially since you're on the brakes too (these got me mad because everyone driving by could see me kill it). Hopefully in a couple weeks I will be able to get my motorcycle license. Great vid!

    been watching for over a year now. everyday infact. learning a lot and today i went to go sit on bikes at dealers in my area for the first time. im in canada tho so some things are a bit different here. im planning to go get my license February this coming year and go get my first bike. i have been watching to learn as much as i can and a couple other channels regarding safety... im a big introvert and big on safety. you guys have convinced me to slap a leg on a 2 wheeled beast and push my own boundries. im getting more and more excited to start my 2 wheeled journey and to learn many new things.

    Clutchless gear changing is fine on the triumph as its literally engineered to do it wouldn't do Clutchless down shift on a bike not engineered to do this it's a sure way to damage the gearbox.

    Last year I tried out for a CBT (in the UK) and was really looking forward to getting into motorbikes. The CBT instructor gave me a bike with a broken clutch lever, saying it shouldn't affect anything... But I just could not feel the clutch at all. Left completely disheartened as the other two learners also passed straight away. One of them was on a twist and go, and the other had years of experience riding a bike in India... I'm to try again this year with the help of this useful video. Thank you!

  • @dktouring
    @dktouring 8 місяців тому

    little advice for smooth gearing up - when you want to switch to a higher gear, don't pull the clutch all the way down, half will be enough, also keep your foot touching the shifter (apply a little pressure to it, but don't kick it yet), it will help you to shift much smoother and faster. 1) Clutch lever half the way down 2) foot is pushing a very little the shifter pedal 3) do it quick, like a lightning

  • @Robnoxious77
    @Robnoxious77 4 роки тому +15

    two more things that seem to catch out total noobs:
    1. A bike has a sequential gearbox, so you push the lever up or down to select the next gear, but then you need to let the gear lever return to it’s neutral position, so that the next gear can be chosen. It’s like a rally car gearbox.
    2. While it’s obvious when you think about it, the lack of experience for noobs will mean they probably don’t initially understand that you need to pull in the clutch lever when you stop, otherwise, you’ll stall the bike.

    Had trouble at the msf with the clutch, half ass figured it out enough to pass the course. I got my first motorcycle and was doing great in parking lots. A few weeks go by and I was almost at square one again stalling in the parking lot, stalling at every light and stop sign. Discouraged to say the least but it’s very obvious it’s all about putting in the hours of practice.

    • @lukew2194

    • @danny9405
      @danny9405 4 роки тому +2

      @@lukew2194 i had trouble stalling the first day of the course then I figured it out. I passed the test and there were several people that failed so it’s not like they just pass anyone. I think my issues stemmed more from lack of practice rather than not knowing what I was doing. The more time that passed without riding the worse that I got. I think this can be true with many things in life.
