Good video, but three important things are still missing: 1) The motorcycle is heavy. Even the lightest and smallest one is of excess of 250 pounds! You briefly mentioned that, but the new rider must be aware of that so not to drop it out of surprise. I myself nearly dropped the bike the first time I got on it because I didn’t expect it to be THAT heavy. 2) High speed turns are made by primarily counter steering. This is extremely important. So many people don’t know that. I almost crashed during one of my first rides because I forgot about it and I was essentially steering the bike the opposite way! I think this must be stressed several times to let people remember that very important aspect of riding. 3) Even though the controls of the motorcycle are way more simple than of the car, a short walkthrough around all the controls like turn indicators, lights, and horn would be not only entertaining, but also helpful to show the riders-to-be that there’s nothing insanely difficult or complicated there. I was going to mention many of the points you bring up. Your first point is something people don't take into consideration. No two bikes have the same center of gravity. Your second point on counter-steering is always overlooked in the how-to videos on riding motorcycles for beginners. All you need to do is put a little pressure on the handlebar on the direction your turning and the bike starts turning. Also, some older bikes have a manual choke that you have to pull out until it is warmed up. No two bikes are alike and each have their unique riding features. I've ridden many thousands of miles on various bikes and you never can take the bike for granted. You have to respect the power the bike has or if you become lazy you can be seriously hurt if your are a careless rider. I've written bikes over 40+ years. I always ride like I'm invisible. That was actually very helpful. I’m thinking about getting my first bike and I’ve never ridden. He also made it look very fun. I wish I was doing that lol
Just some advice when starting out. Obviously the clutch and not stalling your bike is the biggest learning curve. So when you hear people say feather the clutch, they really mean feather that thing. I’m talking very very slowly let the clutch out until you feel the bike slowly move (friction zone) and then add throttle. Even after you add throttle you should still be holding the clutch in the friction zone and as you add throttle very slowly let the clutch out. Don’t let go the moment you start moving cause that’s how you’ll dump the bike. Until you get more practice with it, really feather that clutch and hold that sucker in for a few seconds even after taking off. I’m no pro and people might say I’m wrong or this or that but this is what worked for me and now I take off with no issues.
Thank you very much for your video. Manual gears are the only thing putting me off riding a motorbike. You just simplified it beautifully. I very much love to ride a Triumph Bobber especially if it has an automatic gear box ❤ Thanks again Ed

Just got my first bike, a 650 v-star. Having a bit of trouble with my take off from a stand still (have stalled more times than i want to admit) but once im moving its gold
The best advise for a beginner is to buy a used trail bike and make all the stupid mistakes we all made on it before laying down big money on a street bike.
Great advice. I got me a 1984 XR500R in good condition and I'll be teaching myself on that. Not the best bike to begging with but I'll do my best not to drop it

Dude I absolutely love this video. I‘m thinking about getting my license and a bike and this tutorial helped me so much. It took away a lot of my fears… like when you said that riding a motorcycle is easier than riding a bike in terms of balancing that thing, that relieved so much anxiety off of me
You know what? ..I was thinking about grief.,, But that's actually the most educational lesson I've ever seen!!! Dude, you Rock!!! True professional!! and from a lot of Us.... Thank You so very much!!!
Great video! I'm taking a class in 2 weeks and plan on getting a bike by October thank you for making this! I feel way more confidential
You should take an English class while you're at it.
@@salazam okay for what exactly? Are you pointing out grammar on a non formal UA-cam comment? Oh I see my auto typing said confidential not confident so you pointed that out to make yourself feel smart. Thanks breh I'm feeling your big dick energy through the screen I love it
Only about half way thru the video but man you really did a great job in this this tutorial. There still some anxiety however you helped a lot
I love your bike! Great step by step demonstration! Thank you! 😊
I already ride but I'm here for that gorgeous Indian bike and rumble.😁 Nice 👍
Getting ready to start lessons in a month from Harley. I’ve been nervous about riding, but your video puts me at ease
Dude, ui cannot thank you enough for making this video. I bought my first bike today and thanks to your video, I was able to find my balance and work thru neutral and 1st gear. I can't wait to practice more tomorrow
Thank you so much for sharing this video the way you explained step by step was absolutely awesome this is really going to help me
This is, BY FAR, the most useful video like this! Thank you so much!
Bro, thank you...I'm a first time rider. Never owned a bike, will buy my first bike this weekend. Just passed my MSF course here in California. I need more confidence, you bring that..thanks man.
Any recommendations for the MSF course?
Thank you, amazing video and extremely helpful. Just purchased my Scout Bobber and have not rode in 42 years so starting all over.
This guy is great teacher God bless you his very helpful patience
Getting my first bike and this video was a huge help alleviating some of the stress I had
Just got a bike today! Thanks for this video.
Good video...I am newbie but haven't ridden in about 5 years. THIS was a great refresher! 💯 Thanks for taking the time to explain everything 👍
I just got my Bobber and this video was super helpful as a new rider. Thank you so much for this!
A year later , how’s your progress? I’m about to become a new rider. Bit scared
@deadicated9525 Coming up on 2 years. Actually have an Indian Challenger now. Between the Scout and that I've out down a good 20k miles. Did a 2,500 road trip last summer. Getting along great!
Take your time, don't worry about looking a noob. Take the MSF course! It will help a lot and is a really good foundation. Above all, don't overthink it. Stay safe!
Thank you for taking your quality time to help guys like me get the move on. I recently bought myself a XR500R dirt bike. My bike is so high that my feet don't touch the ground no matter how i try unless one side is high ground. I haven't rode it yet because I'm worried about balance and take of and stopping but with these kind of videos I have confidence and will ride very soon. Trust me. Thank you
W video...Im a huge fan of motorcycles.
This is a really easy, clear and useful video. First lesson is coming up for me, I feel a little more prepared. Thank you 🙏
I love this. I’m a female who wants a Harley so bad so I’m determined to learn how to ride. This is perfect for me. Thank you so so much,¡
Harley as a first bike? Really they are so heavy!!
I’m a tough girl. I can handle heavy. Thank you.☺@@koolermild4432
Just got my CBR1000RR and I feel pretty confident after this! Gonna try pulling nooners in the intersection this afternoon
Seen so many riding videos as am getting my 1st bike soon. However this was unique from the neutral stall to the stop light advice and CoG balancing.
RIP, squid
@@salazam what now?
Thank you very much for your video. Manual gears are the only thing putting me off riding a motorbike. You just simplified it beautifully.
I very much love to ride a Triumph Bobber especially if it has an automatic gear box ❤
Thanks again
Ed
This was a very relaxing video to watch and learn to. I have ambitious plans to take riding lessons next year and buy a motorcycle, and this video has helped take some of the anxiety of this ambition away~
Beautiful bike.
Sat on a black one yesterday, instantly fell in love.
Great video. Very clear and friendly. I am looking at doing my CBT (compulsory basic training) in the UK and found this really useful. Thank you.
Just ordered my Indian Scout Bobber Sixty!! I’ll have it March. Please keep up the amazing content man, it’s been really enjoyable and helpful for me!!
Glad to hear that you're joining the family, welcome!
@@SquarewhiteTV Thank you man! I’m super excited to start this journey.
@SquarewhiteTV what's the name of your gloves?
@@christianoberlies Are you still alive? Or are you roadkill yet?
@@salazam still alive
Great video for beginners. Everybody that starts out should watch this.
Just got my first bike, a 650 v-star. Having a bit of trouble with my take off from a stand still (have stalled more times than i want to admit) but once im moving its gold
This video has been extremely helpful! I’m on my way out to practice on my 1st Harley…the Street 750! Thank you for helping me reduce my anxiety…👏🏽☺️🖤
GREAT VIDEO…you’re a BORN INSTRUCTOR…👍🏼❤️😎
The best advise for a beginner is to buy a used trail bike and make all the stupid mistakes we all made on it before laying down big money on a street bike.
Great advice. I got me a 1984 XR500R in good condition and I'll be teaching myself on that. Not the best bike to begging with but I'll do my best not to drop it
That starting with the throttle is gold i have the same problem stalling the bike when i only use the clutch to start.
super instruction video..haven't riddena bike since1966 ..royal enfield 350 tomorrrow..thanks again
Why men love this 😂 I have work to do but I just don’t wanna stop watching this . Love it bro🫶🏽
Thanks for a great video. I love how slow you took the directions. Most people rush through them. Awesome bike and cool matching gloves man. Now I shouldn’t stall my 1100 shadow. Going out to practice now. I wish people would go into a lot more depth on downshifting when approaching stops but at least you went over it more than others. Thanks again!!
You’ve got my dream bike. Hopefully be riding one by this time next year
I’m from Springfield MA where Indian was first started
Great vid only thing you missed is the unwritten rule of rev bombing when going under a bridge and the biker wave :)
I did, I'll have to redo this and include those lol
going to watch this a few times. well done, appreciate the information, and time you put into it. Also. i would love to have a bike very similar to yours. ideal for my style.
I was taught to put the throttle on a little bit and use the clutch to control my speed through first!
I ride, getting a Bobber tomorrow-ish and this is awesome. Wanted to re-familiarize myself with a bob before going into the dealership tomorrow, its been a minute. Good job dude!!!
Hey man, thanks for this video! I wanna buy my first motocycle, but I'm scared of buying a very heavy bike, but now watching your video I believe it's possible that I can ride it without any problems
Greetings from Brazil, by the way! 🇧🇷
Super nice video I just totally remembered how to ride again thanks to this video
Get my first bike today at 4 I appreciate this video brother💪
This video just popped up on my UA-cam. I’ve been thinking about getting the same bike for a few days now. It was awesome to see how easy it can be to ride for the first time. But what was also awesome. I live in the same small town as you. Matter of fact the store you turned around at. I stay down that road. My kids went to that elementary school also. Pretty cool.
It's you ! 😂
Muy buen video y muy bien explicado.
Ansioso por más de tu contenido en esa belleza.
Saludos desde Ciudad de México
Thanks for the video. Used to repair appliances in that neck of the woods. I can finally come cruise those roads proper with the KTM
absolutely love this video, thank you so much for making this for the complete noobies like me! this is awesome
Sell your bike, you don't belong on the road.
Love that white paint job. Wish the scout sixty bobber was available in that white.
