If that's standard on the PAP, that rifle just died for me. I really don't like being called an idiot every time I look at my gun. Especially ridiculous on an AK.

Got my ZPAP in like April and...kind of love the thing. If the Jack had been out back then, I might have had a more difficult choice, just for furniture compatibility.
But the M70 is just great. Robust thing. A hefty girl, but pleasant to shoot and most of my mags fit pretty tightly- Bulgarian polymer, FAB polymer (required some filing), PSA waffle polymer, and Zastava's polymer bho all fit quite snugly. The Zastava steel and some cheap KCI too.

ZPAP, more robust for the price. Heavier Barrel, 1.5mm thick receiver, bulged RPK Trunion. All for 900 to 1100 bucks. Is it heavier, yes but in a good way. Both are good guns but the ZPAP is clearly better. The other is closer tp the newer Romanion builds. Also regardless of what anyone says. The best AK is the Fime VEPR. What is that one? Heavy barrel, 1.5mm reciever, bulged trunion. Only real difference is the furniture compatability. Thats similar to the ZPAP

Nothing against the WBP Jack as it is only an inexpensive 922r part that was slapped on it upon import, but your impression of the rifle will be a bit better once you either get a better slant brake or use something else (my personal favorite is the Midwest Industries brake).

I think both guns are made extremely well. I don't own a Jack but from what I've gathered online it's the newest edition of great AK's to buy on the American market. BUT assuming it's as good as the M70 and as tough. I still got to say Zastava wins due to the ease of takedown alone. The Jack gets credit for accessory compatibility, but I think that's irrelevant, because most people tend to leave their AK's plain jane anyways Even with dealing with an AKM you still got to be careful cause not all AKM parts fit all AKM's.
Also, I think your Zastava having so much play is coincidental. Mine does not have that much play with any of my magazines. Even the cheap surplus steel magazines fit pretty solid, are more comparable to what your Jack is doing for me. I think they cut your magazine well a hair wider. I also like to add that the Jack cost about 500 bucks more than the Zastava. So is it worth it. The way I see it, if you're going to spend 1500 bucks on an AK you might as well spend the extra 500 on an arsenal. At least the Zastava you can find for an even thousand-dollar price tag. Just my opinion. I like the WBP too and think it's a great AK but for 1500 bucks it better be.

looking to buy my first ak, and right now it seems to be a toss up between the zpap and the jack. the zpap makes more sense price wise, especially given the extra fees for shipping, taxes, and paperwork, as well as compliance work (mag will need to be pinned to 10 and the break will at minimum need to be pinned & welded) but some of the non-standard parts might be an issue later on if I decide I want to customize it, and it seems the build quality is a bit shoddy, not sure if that extra weight is good thing or a bad thing, since my main complaint with all of the other AK's ive looked at in stores is that they feel flimsy like a toy, but who knows maybe thats just a thing with stamped guns and a milled gun would be more to my liking, also could've just been the plastic furniture as well. the jack seems to be built a bit better, but aesthetically isnt as nice in some ways, and tho the price isnt that much higher than the zpap, that still raises the overall cost, plus it has a bayonet lug that would need to be ground off in order to be compliant.
also im assuming WBP is a federally registered manufacturer like zastava is as thanks to a new dumbass law passed here in NJ last year, all firearms must have a serial # and it must have been put there by a federally registered maker or it's considered to be a "ghost gun" and illegal.
was gonna go with the zpap since I have a yugo sks and that thing is a beauty, but right now I think i'm leaning more toward the jack.

They’re both great. I kinda prefer the m70 the recoil is way softer. People tend to over exaggerate the weight and the “lack of parts” it weighs just as much as a decked out AR or most battle build rifles (HK MR556A1). Khyber customs literally has everything you would need for the Yugo from improved safeties to modern furniture etc.

You left out a very important fact , ( prices ) I’m pretty sure the Jack is several hundred more than the M70 . Budget is a big determining fact for a lot of people when buying . When I bought my ZPAP , you couldn’t find a Jack anywhere , another thing you forgot to mention while talking about the fire control parts was the fact of a Sheppard’s hook v’s a retainer plate on the guns . At the time I purchased my gun , if theJack was available I would have bought one . For the price , I think my ZPAP is a great gun , but I would prefer the lighter gun , & the fact that you can change out furniture so easy , but unless I sold my ZPAP to buy a Jack , I’ll just have to stick with what I have . With that said , I did take my ZPAP AK47 & my Palmetto 105 AK74 to the range yesterday & remembered that , I love shooting my ZPAP

By the way, are you using a shepards hook or something like a Krebs retaining plate for the axis pins? Nice review on both. Palm mags with steel lugs are the bomb but don't expect them to fit into Arsenal milled receivers. Word of advice for new ZPAP owners....make sure to Loktite the long bolt that secures the stock to the rear trunnion. They're known to wobble loose if not Loktited.

The pap in opinion is a shit tier AKM. But it was priced right in that range with AK novices though they were getting a deal. There’s almost no after market parts compatibility. And the fit and finish belongs to the 90’s as far as quality. The bulged trunnion offers nothing besides unneeded weight. The irregular furniture is a constant hassle. Had the PAP owners showed a bit of self control they could’ve gotten a better rifle in the Jack or Fox. Many of them will walk away thinking all AK’s are as equally as shitty as their pap.

The WBP Jack blows the Zpap out of the water. The finishing on the materials alone are much higher quality. Not to mention the FB Radom chrome lined barrel.
The worst thing about the Zpap "Read owners manual before operating" stamped on the side 😂

The $500-600 more for the WBP does blow the ZPAP out of the water. You can get an arsenal (factory) produced AK for less than a commercial.
The finish on an AK is a second thought. Traditionally, the owners manual stuff isn't mechanical.
Usually, people complain about other stuff that doesn't matter. For instance, wobbly gas tube, bolt carrier getting stuck on hammer (reason is we don't have the fun parts), and bolt carrier peening (easy fix).
After building several AKs, the WBP is not $500-600 better. If they were the same price, there would be an argument.

@@huRlrnd3lders5 - 6 hundred more? Is that a joke? They cost the same exact price! Did I also mention that the Zpap weighs three pounds more than the WBP? Try carrying the rifle all day and see how that goes. The Zpap doesn't even have pinned furniture. The tooling and finish looks like it was made in a cave with half assed machining.

@@LosDoyerss at the time I wrote this they were that more expensive. Not a joke. There's been an export ban on Zastavas for a few months now. Do the research first bud.
      You are missing a lot.

Who gives a shit about aftermarket upgrades on an Ak? The only thing is I am older and heavier sucks for me. Actually, the WMP is only a couple hundred more if you get it on sale. I’ve decided on the m70 Magpul version. $999 because trying to figure out what a AR to buy It’s just been too confusin. so my first battle rifle will be the zatava pushka 🫡🇺🇸
